We missed our flight due to chaotic lines and TSA apathy. However, the gate agent Kevan went above and beyond to help us rebook without charge to an alternate destination at our request even though it was restricted by our fare class. Thanks to Kevan and his manager who made this possible and helped our family with small kids not go through further inconvenience. Mahalo!

I have currently been on hold for 1 hour, 11 minutes, and 24 seconds. Its the same music over and over, and there is no call back option. How is this even possible? The fact that Hawaiian Airlines cant figure out how to do a call back option is nuts. I thought Bank of Hawaii hold times were the worst, but this is by far the worst. One hour and 13 minutes.. 29 seconds...

We came to Hawaii from Los Angeles with Hawaiian airline and we end up going back home the same day just 7 hours after the flightWe end up being all day in the airport with our childrenWe tested negative with corona but still wasn’t able to get in their customer service didn’t help at all!!! All they rushed on doing is to send us back home.I explained them that I called Hawaiian airline before purchasing tickets to find out the rules and all they said that we need to tested 72 hours prior to the flightNo other instructions were givenThey are horrible, no one to talk to, just big Aggravation I will never be back in HawaiiWe were supposed to spend the holiday here with the kids and end up losing money and facing ridiculous excuses.

If youre looking for a direct flight between the Hawaiian islands, this is your airline.Southwest now flies in Hawaii too, but most flights have a layover in Honolulu which at least doubles the length of the flight. Their flights were slightly cheaper though. It was our first time flying Hawaiian and we had a great experience. Even though its a very short flight, they give you a nice Hawaiian POG (pineapple, orange, guava) juice.Everyone was very friendly. I wouldnt hesitate to fly with them again.

I have flown with Hawaiian Air numerous times. Their overhead bins are tiny, but I was satisfied with their service until Covid-19. One flight was delayed 12 hours, so they gave us vouchers, which I will probably never use, because they make it nearly impossible to redeem. Now they have cancelled a flight, and offered to rebook for free, but - guess what? 5 hours on hold and still no customer service. The airlines received bailout $, but they are firing people, and have no one to answer phones or upgrade the website, so we dont have to talk to a human to rebook without fees. There is not even an option requesting a call-back, so you have to be chained to your phone for what - 8 hours???

2 to the most amazing philosophy that aloha means in Hawaiian culture, I hate to leave this negative feedback.Hawaiian airline should be ashamed of themselves for price gouging people that come to Hawaii that feed their economy and love their territory. We have utmost respect for Hawaiian culture in the land. When we come here, we clean up behind other tourist. with that said, Hawaiian airlines has a culture that you would think youre on the mainland. Charging for every single thing they can and making you feel like youre worth nothing.the good news is that Southwest has come to Hawaii and in time they will dominate and force Hawaiian airlines to become a more friendly, customer service oriented and airline that I would fly on again. this is our honeymoon, with that said, this will be the last time I fly in Hawaiian air. If I have to fly to Hawaiian air, Ill go to a different island.

I probably should start by saying I’m used to flying first class. The seats are super thin, not comfortable at all, tiny little tray table. They offer you a juice cup like you are in grade school. The staff is nice but the planes are small, loud and rough. There is no real first class. For a short trip between islands though I guess it isn’t too bad. Personally I wouldn’t fly them again.

1.My older mother who cannot walk very well, had her ticketed and confirmed seat beside my father in the front of the plane moved to the back of the plane as she boarded. My mothers seat (beside my father in the front!) was given to a younger lady complaining about not wanting to sit over a wing!2. On a small island to island flight they managed to stain most all of our new bags and break the handle off the best bag we had.3. My tsa pre-check didnt print on boarding pass and they couldnt fix it.Southwest for my future flights in Hawaii!

1. When you get to the airport. Dont forget to take your checked bag through the agricultural screening right near the curb. If you forget, youll have to get in back of the queue again. Youll need to put through the screening if youre going to the mainland.2. The self bagging kiosks are hit or miss. The lines to those kiosks are super short, but the lines to drop off your bags are super long so take your chances. Your alternative is to wait in the regular line to check in your bag.3. Hawaiian airlines is the only airline to still offer complimentary meals on the plane. The snacks they sell on the plane are actually the same price as they are on the islands. A bag of taro chips are about $7-$8. Yes theyre pricey but youll pay the same price at an ABC Store when you land.4. Seats to and from the mainland on the plane are in sets of 2 on the sides of the plane and 4 in the middle. Choose wisely when you book.

Horrid. They have monopoly on air travel here in Hawaii and they are behaving as such. Agents barely speak English, the one that I dealt with today had a comprehension skills of a Chihuahua and god forbid you need to make any changes to your reservations.Planes are filthy (inter-island routes) and so are their terminals. I used them to fly to South Korea and even their trans-oceanic flights are way below their competitors level in service and overall experience.

The worst service between islands.. we got to the airport early and wondered if we could be placed on an earlier flight from Maui to Honolulu. the fee is 30-50$ on a 75$ flight.. how does that make any sense?? Unfortunately thy have a complete monopoly so they know they can treat you horribly and still take your money.

Unfriendly staff. Horrible service. Absolutely stupid rules. I was traveling alone with a kid who was not happy and a ton of stuff in my hand. My kid was not wearing her slippers- they were in a handbag. I requested the airline the ability to sit down before I could put her slippers back on but the staff simply refused. I was refused entry. I had to sprawl all my stuff and force a crying child to wear slippers because the airlines felt it was needed for her security. Really??? They are not close toed shoes that could prevent any real harm. Im just not sure whats the point of this rule. Guess what? The crying child was now howling.

Terrible. If there was ever a spirt of aloha in this airline - its long dead. If you make a reservation its a high likelyhood you have to figure out for yourself how to sit next to your travel companions They make it standard operating procedure to split up couples and then make you ask to change seats with other people, so you can sit next to one another on a 6 hour flight. The Hawaiian airlines people are curt and their product is subpar with old planes, no inflight entertainment, and zero efficiency. I will fly southwest to Hawaii next time. Very glad they are finally launching service and offering an alternative to an airline that ruins Hawaiis name for hospitality.

I own the card x2 and have traveled constantly with Hawaiian, but now i cant wait for Southwest Airlines to come in and wipe the floor with them. Losing my bag from Maui to Oahu then blaming it on a late checkin; my partners bag arrived on time, same check in. They charged me for my checked bag when my card holder agreement says I get a free one everytime. Overall staff can be ok or come across pretty rude - not what youd expect from a major airline.

Fare in February is less than $400rt.New planes have attractive tropical interiors. But out of sj I keep getting drab old worn blue seats and white walls, like that old 767 on Sunday. The cabin crew is much better than Alaska Airlines, and that is HAs only saving grace!I was told to be at SJC San Jose at least 2 and 1/2 hours before a 730am flight or Before 5AM. I got there at 430am. 20, then 30 HA clients with No Seats, just a few handicapped seats. STANDING for an hour? The counter staff were late, at 519AM, as usual. So IMPOLITE.This is one vote of no confidence in management!

Im sure it comes as no surprise that Hawaiian Airlines has deplorable customer service on top of their ridiculously over the top prices. I was overcharged for my ticket between islands (nearly $300 from Maui to Kauai and back as a resident) and upon arriving to the airline, I realized I accidentally booked the wrong flight from what my boyfriend booked and was very distressed. After waiting in line for 30 minutes and having one customer service representative literally walk away without even speaking to me when I was next in line, I was charged $75 to get onto the flight with him, and got on the plane to see it was two thirds EMPTY.On the return flight, we had a layover in Oahu. For some reason there was a delay at the gate and we were not going to make the second flight. I pressed the flight attendant help button by my seat three times, no assistance. My boyfriend assured me that our pilot would have let the connecting flight know we were behind - it was the same airline and surely we werent the only ones. However, they didnt - the plane nearly left without us, the flight attendant was mean to us for arriving late and yelled at my husband to GET ON THE PLANE when he was waiting for me to catch up at the gate.I have submitted online complaints and called twice, and still the consumer affairs office wont respond. Ill never fly with them again.

My wife and I got married on Kauai and then honeymooned on Maui. We flew Hawaiian Airlines the entire way. On the trip home we met a couple on the car rental shuttle who were also from Portland, OR. It turns out their flight flew out of Maui at about the same time as ours, but unlike ours, they did not have a 3-hour layover in Honolulu. We inquired at the Hawaiian Airlines baggage check about switching our flight. Back in the day, when airlines cared about customer service, this wasnt a big deal. If you were leaving from the same place and arriving at the same place, and if there were seats available, airlines would switch your flight as a courtesy. We asked for this courtesy. The woman at the counter informed us there may be a small fee to make the change. She did not know how much the fee would be until she checked. We asked her to look into it. Ten minutes later she was still typing away. I told her we were willing to consider $50-$100, but if the fee was more than that there was no reason to waste our time. Twenty to twenty-five minutes later she informed us it would cost approximately $650 per person to change our flight. She was attempting to sell us new plane tickets at day-of prices and subtracting what we had already paid for our current tickets. This basically doubled the price for the flight. How anyone could have her job for more than a few weeks and not be able to predict the outcome of our query is beyond me. She had wasted more than 20 minutes of our time just to insult us, but the fiasco had not even begun. She handed us back our ticket vouchers with OC written on them. It seems she unblocked our hand picked seats that we reserved 6 months ago in order to investigate changing our tickets. The OC stands for overcharge, and we no longer had seats on the flight from Honolulu to Portland. This was a 6 hour flight, and comfortable seats were important. Sorry, we cant do anything about that here. You will have to talk to the ticket counter in Honolulu when you get off the plane. We were never informed this would happen, and we never agreed to it.We got off the plane in Honolulu. The ticket agent at the gate could not help us. She referred us to the service desk. We stood in line at the service desk for about 10 minutes. My wife told the ticket agent there to give us back our seats. It isnt that simple, he said. He doesnt control the tickets for the flight. He told us we needed to speak to the ticket agent at the departing gate, but they wouldnt be there until an hour before the flight departs. He expected us to sit in the airport for an hour and a half without even knowing if we had seats. The exchange got heated to the point I told him, this is fing unacceptable! He warned me that if I insisted on using language like that he would have to call security. I wish I had told him there was no other word to adequately describe what his airline had done to us, but I did not think of it. Instead I glared at him as I clenched my fist, and I shook visibly in anger. It turns out we were lied to because he did find us seats on the flight, but they were all the way in the back. My wife said she wasnt going to sit near the bathroom, and he had to do better than that. I was ready to take whatever, but she had a point. We planned this trip long ago so we would be comfortable on the long flight. He referred us to a supervisor. The supervisor eventually gave us emergency exit row seats. It took him a while to concede that. I honestly believe the only reason they helped us at all was because we were so angry and everybody in line was was watching and listening. I caught several looks of sympathy and disbelief. The way Hawaiian Airlines insulted us, the uncertainty, and how long it took them to address the problem all combined to ruin our flight. It took another hour for the adrenaline to wear off so we could relax. Shame on us for asked for what used to be a courtesy. The real shame is Hawaiian used to better than the other airlines, but now they nickle and dime you with hidden costs just like all the rest.
