I love shopping at Gems & Whims!! I’ve bought both my parents birthday gifts from here, and I can proudly say both were huge successes! This week I’m excited to have picked up all the beads and decorative pieces so I can start designing bracelets with my kids. Yay to keeping the kids occupied and happy!

Literally a hidden gem! Beautiful gems, minerals, crystals, etc., for very cheap prices. One of our new favorite spots in Johnson City! Highly recommended.

A charming and fun local place to find all kinds of gems, beads, and handmade jewelry. There is so much to look at and choose from. The owner is very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. You can choose from individual beads or buy whole strands. She also has lots of findings and jewelry making supplies. Today I bought a few pieces of Czech glass beads, resin beads, Opalite, Coral shell, and copper ear wires. They also occasionally offer classes.

Gems and Whems is the place to go for specialty beads. They have semi precious and precious stone beads. The staff is so knowledgeable and helpful for all your jewelry making needs! If you arent crafty but have a jewelry design in mind this is the place to go!!!

Oh my, I would call this more like a magical home away from home before I would call it a store, because of how amazingly kind, caring and welcoming the beautiful owner Candice is!!! The first time we ever went into Gems and Whims WE WERE IN AWE!!! So much to look at, so many BEAUTIFUL THINGS/ART! I had my daughter (who is 11years) with me and OH MY how she fell IN LOVE AT 1ST SIGHT with Candices little co-owners! Those sweet whittle furry, little four legged babys of hers are the most adorable puppys my daughter had ever seen! (Using my daughters words, and yes, I too agree)☺️She allowed my daughter to come behind the desk and pet them, she was so helpful to my needs that day!!! Candice REALLY PUTS HER HEART AND SOUL INTO HER GORGEOUS WORK! I have been shopping at Gems & Whims for several years now and have never been disappointed. Their handmade jewelry is stunning. If you have ever handmade a piece with high quality gems and metal, it cost a little more, but you get what you pay for. I personally dont want to wear something thats going to turn me green.Candice, the owner, wont steer you wrong and seems to always have beads, wire, or silver pieces on sale or drastically reduced. Shes an artist herself and can help with anything you need. I love Gems & Whims!

I simply wanted a pair of earrings changed from pierced to clip-ons. When I took them in, I was promised next day pickup. My husband went to pickup for me at owners designated time and again they were not ready. Truly didnt mind the wait BUT DID MIND THE FACT THAT THE EARRINGS WERE SILVER AND CANDICE HAD PUT GOLD CLIPS ON THEM WHEN THEY WERE FINALLY READY.I had previously had a necklace repaired and another made. The repaired necklace has beads that no longer lay flat. The one she made for me cost $55 which was no where close to what she lead me to expect.As they say, 3rd times the charm and I wont be back.

Extremely overpriced

I shopped at Gems & Whims while on vacation. I love this shop. The owner went above and beyond to assist me. I was looking for a particular color of wire which she had at home. She was willing to have someone bring from her home to the shop so that I could have what I was looking for. I really appreciated the offer and will definitely visit again when I am in the area.
