My son dropped my car off here because I had an injury and was unable to drive. Neither of us knew anything about this shop, but I have to say we both were extremely pleased with their service! Everyone needs an honest, dependable mechanic shop, and I suggest you put these folks on your list. After the work they did, and the reasonable price I paid, I wont go anywhere else.

I haven’t seen the Carpenters in years after moving out of state but they are hands down the best auto repair I’ve ever had. I’ve lived all over. They’re also the best people. I can’t thank them enough

These guys are great! Ive never even stepped foot in this place, but rather worked out a vehicle inspection for a car we were thinking of buying from a distance. They worked us in last minute and gave a thorough report of the issues with car. In the end, they didnt even charge me for their time. Wouldnt hesitate for a minute to bring my own cars here.

I was brand new to the area. My truck ran fine for the 850 miles I drove from CT..at my Johnson City exit my truck suddenly started running badly ..i called a couple different places all said it would be a week before they could help ..when I called Carpenters..they were very friendly and said I could stop by the next day and TRY to find some time to look at it...i was there for less than 2 hours and they hsd my truck running great again...im new to Johnson City Tenn. But Im so glad I have a reliable and honest place to bring my truck for all its repairs

What wonderful service. Carpenters took my vehicle in Monday morning with no appointment and had it repaired by Tuesday afternoon. This is exceptional considering they arent friends, Im not a frequent patron and it was not just a friends special. From what I understand, they treat every customer this way. Opening at 7:30am is a great help to me and they have a fence and gate to keep the cars protected when theyre away. Ill be sharing the word about this place.

The staff was very nice and friendly. My van was finished sooner than expected and the price was almost $90 under what they told me to expect. I will be using them for all of my automotive needs.

Have taken my personal & my companys vehicles for several years. Butch will inform you what DOESNT need to be fixed....saving you money. His mechanics stay busy & his lots are usually full during the week. Theres a reason for that! Resonable pricing & they do what they promise to do; not always in record time,but no bodys perfect. My car died while in Johnson City. I called everywhere trying to find someone to fix the alternator on my car. One place wanted over 450 for fixing it and another even more. Then I happened to call Larrys Tire, who referred me to Carpenters Auto Repair. What a total GEM!! I cannot say how wonderful they were to me and so much more reasonable. Not only was the cost over a hundred less, they also found I needed oil and put more oil in my vehicle. I am so very grateful for this shop! It is local and family-owned. Every single interaction was exceptional. I will take my vehicle there again! I was 100% satisfied and I knew that when they said I would be ok, I would! 5 stars well deserved!!!

The best garage in town! Very honest people and I wouldn’t go anywhere else with car trouble. I took my truck in one time because of a noise I heard and they worked most of the morning and day trying to figure it out. When he found out my exhaust pipe was disconnected and rubbing the drive shaft he referred me to a great muffler shop in town and didn’t charge me a dime for taking all that time. I tried to pay Butch and he refused and shook my hand!

My twin daughters broke down while traveling home from college during the holidays. Three hours away from me, stressed, upset, and afraid, i prayed and asked the Lord to show me who to call to help them. He answered my prayers. There are still good, honest and fair people in this world. Mr. Carpenter is one of them. I cant say Thank you enough.

Mr. Carpenter and his crew Diagnosed the issue that the other mechanics had done faulty work because of the incapability to fix my issue so they all decide they wanted to get money out of me. Very nice lady up front, but I needed a rear main seal replaced, which I know how to do but didnt have the time, and the guy told me it would be $880 for that and to flush the radiator and replace the valve cover gasket. They said it was $550 just for the rear main because they had to remove the transmission which is false. Just the oil pan. So I took a day off and changed out my rear main and flushed the radiator and paid $12. I will not be back, the pricing is the worst Ive ever seen. I work on my cars myself so I know how to do most things. If you go here, make sure you get 2nd opinions.

Ive had nothing but positive experiences with Butch and the gang at Carpenters. For someone with vehicles needing frequent repairs, I greatly appreciate that they give me options when options are available. If they can figure out a workaround, even if temporary, to get you back on the road, theyll do it instead of automatically going to the most expensive option like dealerships.

Several months ago had an unexpected problem. They took my car in unscheduled and they fixed me up while I waited. Good, honest folks who deserve the good reputation they have in the community.
