The views on my morning walk with my 2 pups on this fantastic 30 acre property are absolutely stunning. Such a pet friendly community & only 15 minutes from gorgeous Watauga Lake for even longer walks. Love the fireplace! Our townhouse is so cozy on the edge of a lovely forest. We see up to 5 deer every morning. So quiet & safe! Maintenance team is friendly & the office ladies are quite efficient. Affordable pricing to boot makes this the ideal place to call home in the area!

I enjoy living here. Its a big complex but surprisingly quiet and lots of green space. The apartment is comfortable and was very clean when I first moved in. I would recommend it to friends.

This is way overdue and going to be long, but I just hope to help somebody avoid this SLUMLORD of an apartment complex that I had to deal with in the worst of times. Do NOT rent from here, and definitely do NOT rent a one bedroom flat-style apartment here. They flood. The one-bedroom style apartment buildings in this complex have been flooding per weather conditions for years according to the maintenance crew, but I hadn’t had an issue until this. The apartment I lived in was unit 169, on the 3rd and highest floor. I was out of town for almost 3 weeks. My apartment flooded the day after I left out of town from the “toilet tank cracking” (no one was even present at the time). Apparently it was so bad, that the tenant under me had to call and complain because of it flooding her entire apartment (and the apartment underneath her). For the entire almost MONTH I was away, they let my apartment sit in this wet condition in the mid-September heat (these style apartments there do not have central A/C). Sterling Hills NEVER contacted me to let me know about this. Not one single phone call, email, text, NOTHING. I came home to mold EVERYWHERE. The carpet, walls, my couch, a $2000 bedroom suite, personal kitchen appliances, clothes, mattress, sentimental items, you name it. They left me a note on my counter stating that they had made entry. They left a second note DAYS later in the same spot, being very obvious to them that I was not there as the first note was still there, & I had obviously not cleaned anything up. The *best* part, is on this second note they offered me a whopping $20 for my damaged bathroom rugs....that the maintenance men left soaking wet, wadded up, in the bath tub. Imagine the odor from just THAT for 3 weeks! Trust me I get it, life happens and this may not have been preventable by any human. My problem is the way it was handled after the fact. If it were to flood on my watch, and I didn’t call them for weeks on end, that would be a little different, huh? A lot different! There are at least 5 employees who had the chance to have the common courtesy and let me know before it got to the point of molding that it did. I lost almost all of my belongings. They refused to have the building professionally inspected for mold AND refused to have it professionally cleaned. There’s even a “Mold Addendum” page in the 49 page lease. Red flag anyone? Their astounding offer to me after all of this, was to allow me to move my things out of my apartment so that they could “clean the carpet”, and then move myself back in. So, at my own cost and physical expense, they expected me move my belongings down 2 flights of stairs into their unprotected & non-weathered storage units that are notoriously broken into, so that their unlicensed/uncertified maintenance crew could come “clean” the mold. I was offered no help for moving of things, and was offered NO housing while this was being done. The final offer they came up with, was to “allow” me out of my lease, and receive my $200 deposit back. Did I mention that this was all occurring in the middle of a PANDEMIC?! Trying to find another place to live due to an emergency situation during a global pandemic was an absolute nightmare, thanks to Sterling Hills-more specifically so, Rhonda (the “manager”). This so-called manager has no business being in the customer service field, and by the way this was handled, she definitely has no business in managing a large apartment complex. If you look up other reviews on this place, you’ll see her name often coming up with negative experiences. I wish I would have taken those reviews more seriously when I moved here. The list of things to complain about with this place goes on and on. Stay away!

I love living at Sterling Hills! The amenities are super with a Bark Park, Health and Wellness Workout Room, lighted Tennis courts and basketball courts, beautifully landscaped pool area. The staff is superb and helpful with any problem that may be encountered with moving. The apartment homes have cozy fireplaces that add a special touch of warmth and style that is so comfortable just like home. You need to check out Sterling Hills Apartment Homes-I promise you wont be disappointed!

Very nice complex with great amenities. The office staff tries to be as helpful as possible. HOWEVER the upper management runs the company with no respect or appreciation for their customers. They have raised rates without notifying me, so far it has been just a few dollars here and a dollar there, but at the end of the day its entirely unethical to charge your customer a rate higher than what their lease agreement says. They also have switched to a new system because they do not want to be responsible for billing, and decided to pass on that fee to their customers as well. My recommendation would be to not even bother with this company and look elsewhere. They are very deceiving in nearly everything they do. I have been over promised on almost everything from day 1.

Great and safe place. The staff at the front office are friendly and always willing to help. The maintenance crew, that is Johnny and his colleague are very efficient and effective. The only problem we have has to do with the very high electricity bills and we think the issue is with Elizabethon Electric and the faulty meter. Hope management can look into this.

Great place, with an awesome basketball court, along with a workout room and pool. Great sceneries, and all around great place to live. Me and my mom had to move back to Maine 2 months ago, and Ive never felt so empty and sad in my life. Leaving the home felt like abandoning a loved one. I hope to come back some day, but for now I just have the great memories.

Policies are insane. Older units that havent been updated in a LONG time. Plenty of other options in the area with lower prices, nicer interiors, better amenities. Definitely explore your options before you get caught up in this mess of an apartment complex.

The apartment itself was good, friendly staff and well kept grounds. However, the people living around me make life pretty irritating. There is a dog below that whines for hours each day and now a smoker lives next to me that makes my bathroom smell like cigarettes. Ive talked to the front office about the dog twice and nothing has changed. Im not even going to mention the smoking neighbors because 1) it wont make a difference. 2) Im leaving in December regardless.

The apartment itself was ok had lot of stink bugs neighbor downstairs was rude and hateful also smokes which got in my apartment with no door or windows open. Way too over priced! I had fix my own bathtub also the policy is ridiculous! I had to move out due to get insulin pump I moved out before May first I seen I still had to pay Mays rent when I said I was leaving BEFORE May 1st! I’d had pay so much amount of money just get out of this place! I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NO ONE!! They should have stayed with the old company that owned before this “new” company it’s way over priced all they want is MONEY 💵💸. I mean lot of people are leaving this place instead of people coming in tells something right there.

Leaseing staff is very rude and discriminating and snooty. They refused to let me fill out an application due to them not understanding the hosueing program Im in and other reasons. It says eqaul houseing opportunity on your website witch means I have a right to put in an application and have an equal chance to get hosueing as much as everyone else does there witch is clearly not the case since I was turned away. Very disappointed on how I was treated today and the remarks that were made at me. I would give 0 star if it had it. Clearly this is not the plce for me anyway or even want to be.

Rent isnt too terribly expensive, but after living here for nearly 3 years they decided to jack the rent up $100. In our unit we had very outdated appliances and the layout was very inefficient. If they did a remodel, then the rent hike would be understandable, but as it is the unit is nowhere near worth that much. (2br 1.5ba)
