The staff are very friendly and professional. The gym has excellent equipment. It does get a little crowded but its probably because the equipment is dope, theres parking and the customer service is great. Love this gym!

Go to another gym please. Worst gym ever... they charged me $102 to cancel my membership. The last email that I received from this gym was on March 21, and it says that they are temporarily closed. I did not received any email letting me know that my membership was resume and active. My membership was no supposed to be renew on February. Looking at the contract it’s says Jan, but the gym was paused and closed and my membership was paused. They are taking advantage of the pandemic, and taking your money

Really professional, enthusiastic front desk representatives/ administrators. There is one young lady who just can’t do enough to ensure a customers satisfaction. Other clients are all business! Everyone is polite and courteous ( and I’m Canadian ! Lol ) and very helpful. COVID spacing is, from what I’ve seen, well respected at this club.

Super clean gym with a friendly staff and sweet new machines. I needed to find a gym and had low expectations but was so pleasantly surprised. Great deal and I love it.

For gym quality I wouldve given a 4 star, but the service (attitude) doesnt deserve anything more than a 1 (unfortunately, there are no 0s).

The staff are super sweet and helpful. Theres a wide range of equipment.

Be very careful with this gym, they started up members back up September 1st but I didnt get bo notification. They are charging even when this wasnt the main gym I was going to and was switch over to another retro that closed. Which would make it inconvenient to keep this gym membership without having all the access that I had when I opened my membership. I was told paying for access to all gyms was just a perk that is no longer offered. Obviously with all the gyms that have closed. Will call Cooperate tomorrow morning and put a complaint in with BBB. wasnt even given an option to put a hold on account into this is figured out.

Lots of equipment. It gets crowded around 5pm.

Place is always clean. Staff is nice. Customers respectful. Love it.

Please read, and never become a member at any Retro Fitness. Do your research. Their gyms are outdated, dirty and very poorly kept. Its so much cheaper to build a professional home gym anyway. I called numerous times to cancel my membership. After giving me a very hard time explaining how to cancel. They asked me to send certified letter with the cancellation. I called a month later and they are still charging me and claim that they did not get the certified letter. I called numerous times and each time I was either left on hold or transferred to their corporate office who always told me to contact my gym. On my last call to cancel the membership I was still being charged for. I have tried to be as professional as possible, but it is impossible at this point. And now they sent me to a collection agency because I stopped the payments and got tired of getting charged from them.

Friendly staff, very sanitary to use especially during these difficult times. Thank you so much for your services.

Went for a tour as I just moved into area. I was told by front desk they didn’t do tours on the weekend. He told me he could give me a guest pass to walk around by myself. I asked for a class schedule and rates. He told me their class schedule changes weekly so he couldn’t give me a schedule? How am I supposed to know if I want to sign up somewhere where I don’t even know if they are going to offer classes I want to take? No rates given as well.

I’m reading some of these comments and I’m just laughing, no gym is perfect, there either too crowded or too empty, too cluttered or not enough equipment. Make the best of what you have around you. I don’t come to the gym for my experience with the people at the desk 😅🤦🏾‍♂️😭. All gyms have their pros and cons, read the contract before you sign up. And if your not gonna go often you still have to expect to get charged. 😂

Its not super crowded after work (around 5 to 6) which is terrific. Clean and a good variety of equipment. Not the biggest space ever, but overall my favorite Retro in this area!

The people who work there are so nice! Had a bad experience today. Some guy was hogging up 3 machines. I was like really??? Some people are so self centered! Get off your juice and come back to reality. You dont own the machines douche!

Such an upsetting experience, I called to see if I can come in to cancel my membership and the lady Jessica on the phone was amazingly nice, she told me I can come in today to cancel and not be charged for next month payment. I come in and the women with the red hair Kristina seems to have no clue as to what is going on because for everyone walking in she would turning around to Samuel to answer the customers questions. They both told me I had to pay next month payment because I was a day short of the cut off time. How is this my problem? I asked for the manager to be contacted because of this incorrect information given to me. The manager also did not do anything about it. Goes to show the kind of management that is being given here, just stand around and not do anything for the customer. On top of that a shameful look for the manager Jack Russell who is the most disappointing showing he does not care at all. Just goes to show the kind of disgusting training he is giving his employees at this location! Never again! Run away from this place!

I previously left a good review of this place, but I am now changing my review. I just recieved a call from a credit agency saying that I owe $200 even though I cancelled my membership in May when I moved to Texas. In addition to the monthly fee they charged me late fees and an annual fee. These people are some of the most inept and unethical people Ive ever encountered. Do not sign up for a membership here because they will male it impossible to leave. If I could give them less than one star I would. I spoke with Nadia on the phone and she was helpful in explaining the issue, but the fact that they charged me for services not used after I cancelled is disgraceful. Do not sign up for a membership here....

Great amount of equipment, combining both free weights and machines. They keep up with their maintenance and in great working conditions. Facility is constantly monitored for misplaced weights and locker rooms clean.

Probably the nicest Retro in the area. Ample parking, with a lot of room inside. Never feels too crowded even when theres a good amount of people there.

This is my favorite place to burn some calories! It is very clean, the staff is amazing, all machines are always functioning and there is always parking available.

Gym is clean and excellent, I enjoy it, can they lower the prices on the shakes $5:00 for 16 oz outstanding.

Clean & positive atmosphere. Diverse clientele as well. The only negative would be the music selection over the PA.

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO!!!!!! This place is a f*$^&%* nightmare!!!!!!! I signed up for a ONE year contract and SIX MONTHS of personal training. I specifically stated that I would pay for both accounts up front in cash because I had heard nothing but complaints about their billing. The personal trainer at the time, Ab, insisted that I have the payments taken out monthly. I happily obliged thinking it must have been protocol. It has been down hill ever since. First off, the personal trainer was anything but. It was so bad that, after paying all that money, I chose NOT to utilize the service!! He never showed up to my sessions and when he did he talked about himself. So I paid all that money to be a counselor all while teaching myself how to use the machines. I did more on my own than with one of their expert trainers. Fast forward to a day when I get a call from the new training manager Rocky. He was great. Honestly, hes the only reason this place had my business. He was a great personal trainer and he made sure I got my moneys worth. He insisted I use up all of the sessions I paid for and he even gave me an extra session for the trouble I dealt with prior to his arrival. During our meeting one day, I realized the gym had charged my credit card and renewed another six months of personal training sessions without my authorization!!!!! This is where it gets even worse. One of the employees (who I will not mention) there told me that they do this often. They often charge customers for auto renewals even though youve asked them not to. They save your CC info and set you up for auto renewal. In order to cancel, you have to call their counterpart ABC Financial who is another group of idiots. Its sad honestly because I love the gym and the staff is amazing. Nadia at the front desk is an absolute doll. She is always so friendly and cheerful. She always goes above and beyond to help customers. Like I said earlier, Nadia and Rocky are the only reasons this company had my business. I have spoken to both the manager, Brian?, AND THE OWNER about this problem in August and again in September (maybe late August?). It is now December and what do you know, Im getting calls about the membership payment being overdue because they auto renewed it :) Hopefully by 2096 my membership will ACTUALLY be cancelled. Never never never never again.If your looking for a review on the gym itself:The staff is great and the gym is relatively clean. I have no issues with this gym and I would have loved to continue my membership but almost six months into this battle Ive had enough. If they cant bill people properly I have no trust in anything they have to offer.

Would rate Zero stars if I could. They essentially scammed and lied. Wont do anything to rectify the situation instead just ask for more money. Dont bother there are better gyms around the area.

Love the people at the gym and the atmosphere, however, there are a couple of points that keep this gym from being the pinnacle of fitness in Jersey City.1. Only 1 squat rack! A serious gym for real lifters that go to train hard always has a minimum of 2-3 power/squat racks. Even a lesser gym like Blink fitness has 2. On top of the 1 squat rack it does not help that they have no rules concerning the exercises that should not be done on it. Many times lifters will go in to do a heavy squat workout and youll have someone curling baby weight in the rack. A sign politely informing guests that the rack is for main powerlifts only would be nice.6/30/2018. I felt the need to edit this review as most of the issues that I spoke about were addressed within the week after posting it. Raised the rating from 3 to 4 stars. All of the issues were addressed except for the extra power rack which management has said that they will have another one by the end of the summer. Based on how quickly the other issues I mentioned were addressed, I have no doubt in my mind that they will get it done. Unless I move out of the city this will be my gym for life.11/1/2018Still no 2nd squat rack. Which means you have to race everyone like its a black Friday sale to get to it or wait 45 minutes for the guy thats CURLING to finish.😑

Great gym! Its spacious, opened at most hours and even has movies playing in the cardio room.

I usually go here on Sundays cuz its open till 7. Its a nice and clean gym with plenty of parking.

Its convenient, the atmosphere is comfortable; the equipment is always working condition & the staff is helpful and respectful.The one that gets me, members not wiping down the equipment when they are done ....nasty😟Retro employee and management should be reinforcing this practice daily.

They cant even put one good weighing scale .. the weighing scale is broken now more thn 3 months and the one they out it its not accurate. And they dont care.

The gym is good but really ask yourself how much privacy do you have in the restroom area. I highly advise the owner to sit on the toilets and answer this question. I dont need everyone to know im using the toilet. This is my one and only problem. I cant work out if I dont use the restroom right before. Also high power flushing toilets spits water drops right back out (Pretty gross). And also if these problems can get fix maybe we can put flushable paper toilet seat covers (For quicker use). I might still use this gym but not too often.

Horrible experience I will never train there again. I left this gym 5 month before my membership expired. I needed to pause my membership for a couple of months so I spoke to a clerk at the desk, months later I come to find out that my membership was never actually put on hold and now the owner was demanding that I pay for the months that I did not attend. The owner was so rude and uncooperative that it disgusted me to the point that I left the gym all together and didnt even utilize the last 5 months of my membership at all. The owner was very rude unprofessional and uncooperative so I took my business to Powerhouse Gym on Communipaw and have been very happy ever since. *side note* at Retro Fitness bring your own music because the music there sucks.

Surprisingly clean for a gym that gets this much traffic. Gets busy at rush hour. Staff is nice and lots of machines.

Would be alot better if open later on weekends or open 24/7. Overall pretty good gym

Builds will power..its surrounded by burger king Wendys diner and Popeyes ..lol ohh n Dunkin donuts.. so if u can stay focused around that your results will definitely last long

Ok big box gym. It has rubber coated weights for Olympic lifting! It is enough to do modified cross fit workouts.

Nice and clear

No muss no fuss work out and when the payments are due they send you into work out, and handle accounts in the daytime. The hours are good and then enough locations 4 a break in the eventual monotony.

I joined this gym because it supposedly opens at 4AM. To get up at 4AM to go to a gym thats supposed to open at 4AM and for it not to be open at 4AM and then to go back at 4:45AM thinking that was more than enough grace period for a worker to get there and for it to still not be open when its supposed to be open at 4AM, is unprofessional and in a way cruel.

Wish there were more Olympic plates and lifting areas. Tons of cardio machines but only one rower.

Some times it is a clean decent gym but on times like today when there are no wipes to clean machines and it is also aggravating that equipment is breaking and not being replaced like the jump ropes for example, also it is fustrating that the wifi never works.

The owner doesnt know how to respect his customers.

Some mucho Men are so rude and bully ppl who are just trying to get fit. By the way the don’t share !
