Our previous CPA / tax preparer unfortunately retired. She was brilliant, professional, personable, and proactive. So we did some research and interviewed several CPAs. Mr. Spencer had great reviews and we also wanted support a Black Owned Business. So we reached out and asked several questions and he spoke a good game and said that he would represent us if issues arose with the IRS and that he understood tax law and that he would look at our previous year taxes. Well all of that was tested and failed. Once he prepared our taxes he sent them to us via email and said if we had questions to let him know. Otherwise we could mail in our forms. He didnt offer an explanation or summary of his findings, he didnt offer alternatives, and he didnt even look at our previous year taxes until we brought them up again. He was not thorough and we had to ask for a call to go over everything and even that was dicey. Then we had a hiccup with our taxes processing and he told us to call the IRS rather than him checking. Now during are original call with him he said he would represent us with the IRS, well then he came back and said his fee only included preparing the taxes. It was very impersonable experience and hands-off approach. This was more like a fly by night feel, rather than someone who wants to make sure you are getting what you need. We will not be referring or doing business again with Mr. Spencer in the future. It was a complete waste of money and actually what we paid our previous brilliant CPA. We now are looking for another CPA to look at what he submitted. If youre a business owner or professional with properties and you take your taxes seriously, this is not what you wwant. This is more for people who want quick look experience.
