Love this place always happy to go there. The family and other employees are always friendly. They really care about there customers. They offer sales rentals and repairs . If you want to be treated right and nit ripped off then you need to go to M cStephens
I would give 0 stars if I could. They were supposed to give estimate on the work for my 42 inch zero turn, instead they did the work and refused to release mower unless I paid for work that I did not authorize. It was there for warranty work that they did not fix and they damaged the side of the mower in transport or in the shop.
Excellent customer service, everyone there is very helpful and polite. Prices are very competitive if not the lowest in town. Have rented equipment from them two times now, and will keep going back to them! Highly recommend.I went back to rent another piece of equipment and met Tony the owner, who went above and beyond to repair a piece of equipment before I rented it which I was very impressed by! This place is the best tool rental place in Jacksonville!!!
I’ve rent many things from here from chainsaws to paint sprayers and have always have excellent service and good equipment.

Sad to say but I do business with this place every month faithfully take care of their mowers like their mines. They give you the mower on Empty everytime but thinking Im doing the right thing by bringing back on full. Then the lady thats head over wants to argue you down cause all she cares about is getting your money. I feel customers thats bringing business all the time should get a reasonable price especially if you have a legitimate company. This is the second time I have felt uncomfortable feeling like Im not welcome I give these people the up most respect but this pushed me away for sure. I will not be doing anymore business with them.

It would be nice to have 2 late days to be opened until 7 pm for the people that work from 9 to 5. The working class hours has changed by working after 5 pm. Please consider changing the hours for two days.

Very helpful, when looking for parts
They annually service my Snapper Zero Turn lawn mower with no problems. I appreciate that they just fix everything up to $150-ish dollars, and call me if it needs more.Ive also rented equipment from them several times. Ive found them priced in-line with or below Sunbelt and Home Despit. The only downside they are open Saturdays so a Friday afternoon rental returned on Monday morning falls under their weekend rate (Sunbelt considers that a one day rental). Ive still always found the price difference to be negligible, and I would rather spend my dollars here.Great folks to work with!
This is the second time I have taken my mower here for a seasonal tune-up. Each time I pick it up it runs like new and they always ensure that it is repaired completely and running right. Yes, I will return here - and I guess that is the real test of customer satisfaction
Hello just wanted to let you all know when you get a price for anything.like parts or buying anything.this people tell you a price on the phone and when you pick it up its more money than they say everytime.Its best to go to Florida gorgia mower down the road

Bought a regular push mower still have tag on it never worked took it back they said bad gas was in it I put the same gas in my car no problem but when I picked the mower up it still did not work bought it for$75.00 never again. They never gave my husband an estimate on another lawn mower we took up there they just fixed it and called and said you owe $169 We could have bought a new one for that price. Stay away people.
They are fair and honest. There must be some reason they are still thriving after so many years. And I personally remember at least fifty of these years.

I had a great experience here! Went in due to a broken lawnmower, but told the folks there that I really wanted to try to fix it myself before dropping it off for service. They gave me detailed instructions on how to take apart the carburetor and I purchased the few items I needed for the job. It took me 30 minutes, less than $10, and the lawnmower is working again! Lovely people.

Rented equipment one time years ago. When I brought the item back on Monday morning I waited for the place to open because I needed to get to work. I saw people going in the back door and so I went around to see if I could bring the item in. I found the owner sitting there munching on a sandwich. When I said, Hey I need to get to work and couldnt he take the item back? the owner told me to go back out outside and wait like I was supposed to. Needless to say, this was the last time I ever used these people for anything and I know that over the years have spent hundreds of dollars on renting equipment. Even now I need a chainsaw sharpened and saw on google they do that kind of work. Will I take it there? Hell no! Enjoy your sandwich!

Good shop and friendly service
I didnt have a wrench I could use to remove the blade, so; I sent my mower in to the McStephensons A-1 Rentals to have the blade sharpened and balanced. Without my authorization they repaired my modifications to the carburetor and discarded my custom spring resulting in poor performance in my thick grass. They replaced my spark plug wire (which worked fine before they fixed it). They replaced the air cleaner (I had a new one at home ready to install) and they charged me $60.00. Unfortunately, they did not sharpen or balance my blade. I will never send any of my equipment there in the future. You have been warned.
I had a great experience recently with this Briggs and Stratton certified repair shop. They were open til 5:30 on Saturday and I wheeled the lawn mower in and they looked at it, but chance right then and there, a bit of carb spray and a new air filter and it was good as new. I really appreciated their time and patience in helping me. I will be a customer for life!
I spoke to Dave on the phone in detail about the problem with my riding lawn mower. He said to bring it up to his shop on Cassat as soon as possible because it would be 2 and half weeks before they could get to it due to how busy they were. The sooner I could get it up there the sooner they could start.So I got with my next door neighbor as my truck bed is too small to accommodate my 46 inch rider. So we loaded it up went to McStephensons only to be told that they didnt have room for it. I was like what are you talking about I just spoke to Dave yesterday and he told me to get up here so you could fix it. So the guy says well you need to talk to Dave then.So I did, I told him I was the person he spoke to yesterday about my mower and the broken spindle and that he said I needed to get it up there to get it fixed. Now your telling me you dont have room for it? He said to me, we will write a ticket for you and you can bring up when we have time to fix it. I said you should have told me that yesterday before I imposed on my neighbor and went though loading this up to bring to you. You should have told me that when we were on the phone instead of telling me to get my mower up here.He says to me well we dont have room I just got all these mowers delivered. I said not my problem and left. What a terrible, terrible, terrible way to do business. Its not like its just a simple push mower. 2 hrs of my time and my neighbors time wasted, not to mention the work we had to do to get the dang thing loaded.Will I ever go back to this place not on your life. Would I ever recommend this place to people? Not on your life. Really, really bad way to do business. I was self employed for 30 yrs. So I know a thing or 2 about people. This is not the way to do business especially when it all could have been avoided by him simply telling me to come up and have a ticket written. I would not have inconveinced my neighbor or wasted so much of my time waiting for his delivery truck to move, so I could even access his place.If you do choose to go there I hope you have better customer service then I received.

Salesman was quick to identify part which he said was out of stock. He tried being Helpful by showing me the empty box. He again pretended to Help by telling me about another store where my part might be available. Then, HE WROTE DOWN THE WRONG PART NUMBER. I therefore went to the other store with a bad part number where I was ridiculed mercilessly. I think the salesman at Mc Stephepenson played a joke on me in a very unprofessional way. I am an elderly retired Veteran and I value my time.Employees at McStephensons should be more professional and focus on selling more parts so that they can earn their salaries honestly.
Everything time I go to Mcstepensons for Service I am pleased with all they do to help and the results .They also give me helpful advice when I need it.

Had parts needed for a 30 yrs old snapper mower
For the last few years I come back about 4x. I return cause its the closest and maybe it gets better, but no it didnt.
My experiences were lousy: Tried to sell me a broken weed whacker once, and then another time charged me 60$ for repairs on my mower that were unnecessary--they fixed it but when it got home it stopped working. Turned out the gas cap was wrong and it wouldnt breath. They didnt take responsibility for the mistake, and i call that ripping me off! Even had the gall to SELL me another cap! Bastards.

There is something wrong here, I went there just to help a friend get his mower out the shop.I paid for repairs with my check card, mind you I handed the gentleman my card, after he swiped it, he threw my card on the counter maybe he has a problem with African Americans, so to all people of color avoid this place at all costs.....we deserve better.

After the fourth return visit for the same problem.Of course, they came up with a charge and a new problem for every visit. Four visits in two weeks.I will never go there again.
