We have trash and recycling pick up. It is contracted through our town. Our trash days are every Monday. Recycling collection days are every other Monday. This past Monday was supposed to be our recycling day. Monday came around and everything was picked up by the trash truck but a recycling truck never showed up. The cans were brought back up the driveway. Several neighbors did the same. Tuesday morning a recycling truck came through and emptied the few cans that were still curb side. I called to complain. They filed a missed pick up ticket. I was told that they have a driver shortage and that everyone was notified about the one day delay. I was not notified either via mail or any electronic means. I was told that the recycling truck would come back around and pick it up or they would be out on Wednesday. I called back late Wednesday afternoon to find out why it hadnt been picked up. I was told that they would still be out there that day to get it because it was scheduled. It is now Thursday. I called customer service again. They put in another missed pick up ticket. I was told that they should be here today or tomorrow to pick it up. There is a town ordinance stating that I as a homeowner can be fined for leaving my can at curbside for more than 24 hours. Who at Republic is paying that fine when I receive it? I called the city to complain. They sent an email to republic. I cant wait another two weeks for pick up. If you are an individual or a town looking for trash service call Rays. Rays picks up when they are supposed to every time and they dont deal with these driver shortages. I am honestly ready to leave all of the contents of my over burdened recycling bin in their driveway. Then it is their problem.

All of our trash in our container wasn’t picked up last week. When we called, the customer service representative told us that they would come by tomorrow by 6pm to pick it up and they never did. We’ve tried calling the manager numerous times and no one has called back. This is extremely poor service and very disturbing! They need to be more courteous and helpful if they want to keep their customers happy!

If you have another option for trash removal in your area, please pursue that option and not republic. I have sunk so much money into deposits and starting services with this company, and they miss our trash and/or recycling pick up every week. I am paying for a service they do not provide, and I am paying MUCH more than another company just quoted me for the same service. I feel sick. At this point, I have wasted all of the money for deposits and container rentals as I will have to switch to another company.

Do not use this company for your business needs. Our bill has tripled over the last year and the sales reps will not call me back. Apparently, they are the only dept that can help me. I have left five messages and still can not get a call back. The only thing these people have to sell is service and that is unmanageable for them. Save yourself the headache and sign up elsewhere.

We rented a dumpster for 6/25. At 5:15 pm when it didn’t show we tried calling and no one picked up. So we sent an email. They said they had delays for up to 7 days. So we sent a cancellation email.It’s the Monday following and after not hearing back, I called. I was on hold for an hour and fifteen minutes.It was horrible.When the service rep finally picked up the call, I could barely hear him because the call was cutting in and out. If I hadn’t of spent so much time waiting on hold I would have hung up. I called on the status of our cancellation. Apparently, it hadn’t gone through and a truck drop off is scheduled for today and the guy on the phone may not be able to reach him. Dumpster rental is $447. If they drop it off today they will charge us $165 which will not be returned to us because they don’t have a cancellation on record with us. So I told him I’m staring at the email that was sent on 6/25 when their truck was a no show.Pretty certain investing in phones that actually work would shorten the call times which would reduce the time spent on hold. Also, making an option to chat online or cancel services online would also significantly reduce the hassle for everyone. I have no idea how this company is managed, but I can tell you it needs improving.

After using Republic Services for trash removal after we moved to Indianapolis, we have continually had a terrible experience. Every week there is always trash left next to our trash can that is not taken. All of our trash is properly bagged and easily removable, but has repeatedly been left leaving us with no room in our trash can for the next week’s worth of trash. This is very frustrating and we would like this issue to be corrected.

This place is god awful. We’ve had 2 broken trash cans from them within 5 months & today they knocked our FULL trashcan into a ditch and just left it there. I’ve called customer service 3 times with no luck, was stuck on hold for 30 minutes just for it to say they were having technical difficulties. Horrible service & customer service

My wife and I have reached out to Republic services on 5 different occasions to get a recycling bin. We have gotten zero response. I have filled out the request form on their website multiple times, and no one has called or emailed. Apparently, they dont want new customers. Absolutely just terrible service. I wish we had another option for my neighborhood recycling.

BEWARE. This company is charging exorbitant prices to people. They charge environmental fees on top of trash service - $300 a year. They keep increasing their prices once trash service is started. They increased my trash service by $200 dollars last year during the middle of the pandemic crisis. They are rude to deal with and could care less about the consumer. They even charged me to remove my trash bins. I would never recommend this company and I am going to tell everyone I know about this.

Republic continues to arrive in our residential neighborhood, to pick up trash prior to 7am. I have called, I have contacted them through social media (they have blocked me on twitter and facebook, for notifying them each time the truck arrives prior to 7am). Per city ordinance, trash collection in residential areas are not to happen prior to 7am. In the past, Republic has been here as early as 1:30am.This company is not customer friendly. It is not community friendly.

I think that with trash services, people take it for granted when everything goes well and they dont write reviews. Its the people with trash problems that write reviews. I will say theyve always picked up on time and they sent me my new trash can immediately. Only bad part is the call center makes you wait over 5 minutes to get a response.

Simply a terrible company. Messed up my services when I bought them. Messed up the drop off of the cans.Messed up the pick up of trash twice.Messed up the billing.Now they are crediting my account but I still have to pay the full bill and get a credit in the next bill (90 days from now) which I can only expect to also be messed up.

If you are a long time customer and senior citizen beware! After reviewing my 83 year old mother-in-laws bills we realized she had been paying over $250 every three months for trash removal. She admitted the bills were always confusing for her and she is of the generation that assumes the bills are correct and valid. So she payed them. Shes been a customer since 2004. When we contacted Republic there were no apologies for the really high rates, yet we were able to negotiate them down to $51.81 every three months! We still found cheaper rates elsewhere and we closed her account. She then received a bill for $79.45 to collect the bins. We requested a waiver for the collection fee since in our opinion shes been overcharged and they refused. Weve asked several times to talk with management, yet always forwarded to another national rep with same response. My wife specifically requested a call-back from local management...no response. Lesson learned...if youre a current customer in Indiana you better check your bills and re-negotiate rates on a yearly basis. Better yet, consider other options.

Called about missing can was told new one would arrive June 17 they noted it in operations for the driver that it would be bags didn’t get picked up......... Trash day didn’t pick them up......... called again about not picked up said they would be out to pick it up today Friday the 12th of June ......... Guess What still here....

Took three tries (more the two weeks) to get them to pick up my, properly bagged and placed, nine bags of yard waste that were put out on the right dates. I will give small kudos the the people in customer service who were finally able to get my bags picked up. Even they said they didn’t understand why the driver ignored them on three occasions.This is what you get when the city contracts with the lowest bidder, which is certainly the case here.

Republic drops the ball time and time again. Because they come every 2 weeks (sometimes they just don’t show up so it’s once a month) recycling can add up and overflow the container. They will not pick up recycling if it is not in the container and today when I was able to get it all in a box filled with smaller recycling fell out and they left it in the street. Later on another vehicle drove over the box scattering it everywhere. I have this on film from my security camera. They also leave my recycling bin in the middle of the street every time they come. I’m surprised it hasn’t been damaged. Bad service do not recommend

Would give zero stars if possible. They’re charging me for services that never occurred. They’ve never been to our property and still continue to bill us currently at $450. We use a different trash company and always have. Customer service is HORRENDOUS. Reporting to BBB because they won’t stop calling and harassing me & they literally have no proof that we ever used their service.

I do understand they can charge whatever they want for their service, but at the same token they should allow their customers with no contract to exit.I am having a hard time trying to close my account with them, they insisting sales rep will call me to close the account but no luck. they wont transfer you to this mysterious sales rep and i am calling everyday to come and pick up their trash can.

EDIT: Just an update on this, Annelle was able to help me out and get the pickup of the unused trash bins scheduled earlier and theyre going to refund me the current month and next month. I am switching this to a positive rating!Used Republic as my trash and recycle service for residential for ten years and they steadily raised the price on me every year until we were paying $680/year for trash and recycle.Shopped around and found that Best Way charges $288/year for trash and recycle.I contacted Republic Customer Service today to cancel service and learned that because Im cancelling on the first of the month Im forced to pay for pickup through May, they havent picked up any trash at all yet for May, and Ill need to pay them $60 to remove the trash cans... in June.SO I gotta sit on these trash cans for a month and pay them ~$110 for the privilege of holding onto their empty cans for pickup in June.Absolute garbage policy, I can see now why their rating on Google is so low. Shop around and avoid this service if possible.

Literally the most inept customer service department Ive ever had the pleasure of working with. It took 7 days and literally 8 phone calls just to get them to pick up a missed recycling bin. Every rep had a different story and explanation for what was going on with my account. Id love to see an alternate option in Indy so I never ever ever had to deal with them again.

I’ve been using the recycling program thru Republic for almost three months. They have never picked up our recycling on the day they provided. I have to submit a missed pick up every time. I got this service so I wouldn’t have to travel all over town looking for a recycling bin. Customer service is always nice, but can not come up with a solution. No one seems to know anything and could careless.

Overcharged and for no service. Owed about $100 at this point. They charged me for a bin at previous address that they kept forgetting to pick up. THEN they picked up the bin from my current address instead... In over 8 months, they’ve only picked up my recycling four times. And I always have to submit missed pick up. Even then, they didn’t always come. Just about the 4 times. And yes, I know it comes every other week. Don’t need to remind me. Do the math, 4 times in 8 months is not every other week. Told months ago I would receive credit. 7 phones calls later, I walked into speak to someone. The receptionist told me it wasn’t possible (what...?) so she took down my name and number, took copies of my invoices (which you should already have access to). She said she’s get someone on it. 2 months later, receiving notice for unpaid invoice (when one phone call said I was good until the end of the year due to the horrible service. Then a letter threatening to “interrupt service”. You have to provide service in order to interrupt it.

Buyer beware. I was a loyal customer for many years until I noticed they had been increasing my quarterly rate over a two year period until it was nearly $250 for one trash and one recycle bin. I have switched to another provider that has no history of such gouging of their customers. Republic charged more to remove the two bins after canceling than Im paying per quarter for the new service. Stay away from Republic!

We had paid for a full year ahead of time at another address then tranfer here to our new home. After calling 3 times they still were sending new bills. We called and tried to straighten things up and after speaking to several people decided to just cancel service. Then during this pandemic they want to add $30 charge to pick up each trash can. Terrible company terrible service and we end up paying over $200 for a little over a month.

I am extremely disappointed in the service Republic provides in the Indianapolis area. I sent a request for bulk pick up last Wednesday. Email said that I would hear back by the end of next business day. A week later and no reply! On top of that, our trash can (and recycling can) is always in the middle of our driveway. Additionally, at least once a month we have to pick up trash that has been spilled by the truck (one time it was glass - and we have small children up and down the street!). I reached out via FB with this same complaint - in which they apologized but did not make the situation any better. I asked if we were on a contract and if there was a fee for canceling our services. They replied with a very short answer and there was no act in trying to keep our business. AT ALL. We will be canceling and moving our business to Rays. The customer service offered by Republic is the worst I have ever experienced! STAY AWAY!!!

We have no choice but to pay Republic, when there are other waste management companies operating in Indianapolis. This company refuses to provide yard waste removal services after the first week in December. Because as homeowners, it is our job to make sure leaves dont fall out of season. The suggested solution was to put the bags in our regular trash...yes, all 14 yard waste bags into one regular waste bin. This is Indiana. There is no typical season. It will be 80 degrees one week and snowing the next. We cannot control what dates the leaves fall, and Republic provides no contingency plan for dealing with Indiana weather prolonging the yard waste season.

Republic Services is the archetype of the lack of accountability in private monopolies of public services. Contracted them for residential recycling services, one pickup every-other-week. They have consistently failed to show up on my designated pickup day so every pickup has had to be requested by me via their customer service line. Even then it often takes multiple customer service tickets for a pickup to actually happen, which generally occurs several days to a couple of weeks after their promised pickup date. This results in the customer paying for more pickups than they actually receive, as Republic Services will attempt to schedule missed pickups on the customers next scheduled pickup date. My dumpster has sat full in its same position for weeks now, as customers are being told to excuse their lack of service because of objectively nonexistent weather-related delays.

They are not sharing information on what system error they have for charging me. Have been attempting to set up recycling for four weeks. Every time I am told they dont offer service in my area, although my neighbor across the [dead end, residential] street and several at the front of the street are serviced by them. Each time I spend 15-20 minutes on the phone and they cant figure it out and tell me; promise to call me back. A week later I am on the phone with the same issue.

When trying to stop service w Republic Services they were very combative and slammed me with fee after fee! When I asked where in the contract the fees were mentioned the customer service rep read a paragraph from the customer agreement that said Republic Srvice has the right to change any of the contract as they see fit! We cancelled our trash pickup service with Republic Services, 832 Langsdale Avenue in Indianapolis, in June 2013. No complaints. Just cancelled. When I called the company to cancel, the Customer Service Representative told me that our final bill would be $14.76, which I paid the same day.Today, July 30, 3013, we got a bill from Republic Services for $13.30. This includes $10 to come and get their container, $2.95 for fuel/environmental recovery fee, and 35 cents for a change in the final bill from $14.76 to $15.11 -- and the 35 cents is marked 60 days past due.

I don’t know about other republic service. This office is totally ripped off. Commercial trash service PLEASE BE AWARE to use their service. When I signed agreement 8 years ago and I still could not cancel the service because their ridicules price increased. My agreement will automatically renew forever. The other funny thing is their price will increase every month for many reasons such refreshment, fuel surcharge etc... what is agreement for customers then? I was told by Jeremy (supervisor) that I can cancel service by certified letter. What is next mr. Jeremy?

Top of my list for a company I despise. Horrible customer service, but since they are chosen for us by the city or whoever, what can we do about it. Last week we get a note from our trash collector stating that they would no longer choose to pick up our trash if it was not in one of their nifty blue totes. Well that is special since we NEVER received any previous notice stating that we needed one or about any changes being made to our service. I called in and was told they could get us a tote in 3-4 days and to go ahead and put out trash like normal if the tote had not arrived. She had no idea why we had never received a notice. Monday comes, no tote so we put out our trash like always only to find can and all gone and another note. So, they thought it would be cute to take our trash can as well. A new one costs approx $75.00. Called in today and spoke to Angela. You could certainly tell Angela could care less about us. No apology, only battling and excuses. Horrible company!!! 0 stars should be an option. Their customer service department is full of liars and their garbage men are lazy. I have had a bulk pickup scheduled for almost a week. Every day I am guaranteed by one of their employees that this item will be picked up. I finally spoke with a supervisor that informed me that I must bundle the large item myself or they wont pick it up. On their website it does not state that larger items (mattresses) need to be bundled. Their supervisors will treat you like you are inconveniencing them when you call. This company does not care about their customers and they definitely dont believe in keeping their word. Legitimately the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.

BE AWARE! As a commercial customer for years we decided to move our business. Our new landlord already offered trash service with Rays so we no longer needed Republic Trash Services. This company made us fight for months to discontinue their services while charging us endless fees. DO NOT make the same mistake we did and use their services. Their contract contains many hidden fees and cancellation fees. Ive never had as much trouble canceling a utility service in my business career. Use anyone else but republic. Its the first trash day of the month so its large trash day. You picked up mattresses, dressers etc. down the road but you couldnt pick up 3 bags at my house outside the can. Canceled services with this company after bills skyrocketed. Then got a bill from them for removing their trash bins from my property. Called about the bill and customer service said that for our area there isa bin removal fee that they neglected to inform me of when canceling their services. REALLY does it really cost $30 per container and a fuel recovery surcharge of almost $20. What a joke of a company!

Worst company on the planet. Drivers refuse to pick up anything if its not in the container, even though it says online I can have up to 10 lawn bags for pick-up. When we called, the customer service rep said the driver only has to pick up what is outside your container if they feel like it...

Anita, at their local terre haute office, refused to acknowledge payment through their website, claimed I was over 90 days past due, and cancelled my service. This after they changed pick up date, without notice sent, and my trash hasnt been collected in over a month because of it.

They charge twice as much as other trash services and when you cancel, theyll charge you for the entire 3-month billing cycle even though they will no longer provide service. That doesnt seem legal, so I have filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals Consumer Complaint Office.

On 6/25/18 at 12:42PM, I was driving on I465 southbound behind Republic Services truck 2528. Debris flew off the truck and went straight at my new car, cracking my windshield and scratching the paint on my hood. Contacted Republic within minutes of this happening, and sent photos of the damage (and of their truck in front of me). Over a month later, their claims adjuster finally contacted me saying that they wont pay for the damages and that the debris mustve come from the road. Now I have to pay to have my windshield and hood fixed because of no fault of my own.

Horrible way to kick off services with this company. I set up an account a week or two ago, and was told Id have my trash picked up on Monday. Its now Tue night, and after being told (1) they were on a 3-hour delay on Monday, so it would be picked up late... (2) would be picked up on Tue if they dont pick it up on Monday... (3) would pick it up today, after calling once again... its still sitting out in the yard with no truck in site.Ive made 3 separate calls, asking if my trash was going to be picked up, with all 3 people assuring me that it would be, and that Id have a barrel brought to me on Wed... which I highly doubt will happen, based on the first couple days lousy experience Ive had with this company.

This company has absolutely horrible and combative customer service employees. After reporting missed pickup FOUR times for the same (now overflowing) trash can, we have still not gotten our trash picked up. The last time I called, the Specialist Supervisor literally said to me, Well Maam, Im not sure what you expect me to do about that. Im just part of the companys customer service phone line and we are in Arizona, not Indianapolis (where our residence is). She then said she would place me on hold and took a call back number from me in case we got disconnected. She then hung up on me and has yet to call back almost an hour after she terminated the call. I am very disappointed that there is no other trash pick up option in my area, because Im sure any other company would be better.

Its not enough that we have to pay extortionary fees and are hostage to another city service that we as customers have to endure . How do we get a vote to fire this company and replace services that under perform their basic simple duty. Trash pick up is a joke in Indpls. My trash sits out front in my driveway many times due to mechanical, driver, weather. Heck, rain stops this company, give us all a break and stop making excuses. Their recycle trucks run through the neighborhoods with no problem, as a matter of fact during the current snow the recycle truck went right through my neighborhood picking up recyclables no matter the weather, but wait they make $$$ on recyclables.. They haven’t picked up our trash in a month. They claimed it was too heavy, so we emptied some of it out. I just watched one of their employees barely nudge the can to see if it was heavy and then leave. I’m small and I could have picked it up. Lazy.

Republic prices went up from 40 to 60 dollars, I cancelled services back in December and they said it would 48$ just to cancel and pick up their container. Despite cancelling Dec 6 and having the container picked up Dec 14 and at cancellation claiming the bill would be the 48 only.They sent an extra bill the month after for service until January 31st. Thank you customer service for rectifying this and but shouldn’t be charging a high cancellation fee when there is no contract in the first place.

Horribly lazy people. They leave trash on the sidewalk or in the middle of the street. Today I put a small (6x8) cardboard box on top of my trash can and watched the employee knock it off the top of the can, step on it, and leave it there on the sidewalk.
