Everything from checking at the hertz counter before picking up my rental to returning it was so easy. Also, the representative at the hertz counter was very gracious in giving me directions to where I needed to go. He gave me peace of mind on negotiating I-465. I appreciated his time and information. It was a big help.

I realize its a resort pick up, but only one person working the window was not good. Additionally, to ask for your clear code when youre already checked in to the hotel and youve been cleared at the airport is a bit much. Pricing a little on the high end to, but its nice to be able to pick up a rental at the resort.

Price (which was good) not worth the horrible customer service/ lack of ability to communicate with anyone. Tried to call to check hours of operation when my flight was delayed- told rentals would be open until 130am- flight arrived at 11. My toddler and I waited 2 hours for a ride… don’t get me started on the review a sleepy toddler would get.. back at the airport today and have waited an hour so far for one person to work through a LOT of people. I feel for the girl, but this has been an AWFUL experience.

Worst experience EVER. Flight was late and we called to alert Hertz to let them know. They told us they would stay open and take care of my wife and 2 small children. My wife arrived at the desk at 12:15 AM and she was excited to see a young man behind the desk. She walked up to the desk and gave her name and he says, I waited until 12:00 and we are closed now. She said you cant just allow me to have the car I already paid for? He says no and walks away and never came back. My wife was stranded at the airport at 12:15 AM!!!Been trying to get my refund for a week and they will not refund my money! No one will call me back!NEVER EVER rent from Hertz!

Stranded at the airport because of Hertz on Christmas Eve. After landing from a delayed flight into IND at 1am and preparing for another 1 hour drive, got into my reservation of a mid sized car under my 5-Star level membership and drive to the exit to find it completely closed, not a sole in sight...no sign of closure or what to do in case of. Going back inside there was no one available to help at Hertz and when calling their phone number no one answered and mailbox was FULL...not even the ability to leave a message. Corporate Hertz is unable to help because all neighboring locations are also closed. Terrible excuse for customer service and has left me STRANDED

I went here to drop off my rental car, I accidentally left some paperwork behind in the car I rented. I went up today to check for it. The manager was ignorant towards me did nothing to help me with my issues. Was disrespectful towards me and unprofessional. The customer service is terrible not worth your time or money. The car I had was given to me dirty and unsanitary with little gas upon given to me. I honestly will never come here again. I will go to enterprise car next time. Before I cam up here I made several attempts by phone and email and filed a claim with no call backs or responses. Worker don’t wear a mask or sanitize there hands upon each interaction with this location being a busy airport location. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! There are plenty of other options in this location.

I got to the counter right on time for my reservation at 8am. There was no one at the counter until 8:10am. No way to buzz... just no one there. Then when someone finally showed up I went through the process to rent the car...the woman asked if I wanted to prepay for gas and I said yes... so she told me to bring it back empty. I brought it back empty and they charged me 10 dollars a gallon for gas. I called to ask customer service and they said I signed that I didnt want to prepay for gas. Im sorry but after waiting for 15 minutes, getting a late start to my trip, why would I double check the receipt to make sure they put the right thing. The woman specifically told me to bring it back empty so I made sure to do so. I definitely will not be renting from Hertz again.

Car not clean, shimmied when you went 60 miles an hour, no one to check in the car so had to go to the desk inside airport to report the problem with the car. Wanted to make sure they knew and hopefully checked it out before renting it to someone else. It did not seem safe to drive.

The lady at the counter said for $30 I can get extra insurance so I was like okay thats not bad, only $30 but I get my receipt and it was an extra $30/DAY!!!! WHICH DEFEATED THE COST OF GETTING AN AFFORDABLE RENTAL CAR. BEWARE, THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU!!! NEVER AGAIN.

DO NOT USE. Customer service is horrible. The attendant on duty (6/24) at night, a man, lied about the policy and procedures forcing us to get coverage we didnt need. He wouldnt rent to us supposedly without it. Turns out we didnt need it and were correct in our original explanation to him. We have been unable to resolve this situation. See many other negative reviews and are now adding ours. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR LOCATION.

INCORRECT AND ADDITIONAL CHARGES ON MY CARD!I was rather agitated that I was quoted one rate of $157.68 during my online RSVP submission, upon returning my vehicle they charged my card $220.66 without even a courtesy call advising the increase in the charge. Upon a thorough inspection of my receipt, I was charged $48.45 for fuel. For the life of me, I cant understand why as I FILLED the tank prior to dropping the vehicle off. I stopped to get gas roughly 18 miles from the airport and paid $43.50.Again, I was quoted $157.68 and was charged $220.66 - upon return of $48.45 there is still a question of an additional $14.53 that I was charged.Its seems rather fishy to me that this is the SECOND time Ive rented from Hertz and the SECOND time I was charged additional monies when returning the car. Which further allows me to understand why Hertz is struggling financially and closing down a lot of its locations. Bad, fishy service.

I had to take a taxi ( it cost me $50.00) got to the Shedeland location at. 4 pm and they were closed... Called Hertz customer service (outsources in some country that did not speak English very well) and got told they could do nothing about it and was hung up on. TWICE!!! I normally dont complain, however I feel that it is unacceptable to show up to get a car and an employee is asleep while I wait after traveling all night. I received no apology from the employee even though we waited at least 15 minutes. This is not a way to treat a gold member that travels frequently and rents many cars from hertz, not to mention it is my companys preferred agency. Im not trying to get anyone fired or in trouble, just want to raise awareness, beware when getting cars early in the morning.

I picked up a rental at your Greenwood location, the process was easy and the customer service rep was amazing. As I was driving the car started to shake which led me to the Indianapolis airport location. The ladies that checked my car in were busy talking so it to a few minutes to get to me. Once I was checked in I was directed to the counter on the way there I got some awesome help with directions.I reach the counter and the gentlemen was not as friendly or helpful.The grand finale was meeting Karen, who sat outside the office, her smile and personality made all my trouble worth while. She walked us to our car,We talked she advised me she w6ax a new employee and loved her job. The energy, compassion and love for her job was the best. Thank you Karen, hope I get to see you again.

Waited in line for over 30 minutes (and I was third in line!) I feel bad for the people behind me. There were communication issues between the desk and the pickup area that prevented the person in front of me from checking in. Only one poor lady working behind the counter (not her fault!) She was doing the best she could. Management apparently has a terrible understanding of when the desk will be busy. Should have signed up for gold and gone straight to the cars.

Renters beware when you just drop off vehicle at airport location and you don’t stay during check in process they bill $300.00 smoking fee when you don’t even smoke. Our car was dirty upon pick up hadn’t been vacuumed from prior rental and they charged us for ashes. It took 2 1/2 hours to get the vehicle and we didn’t check the inside my husband drove it from pick up location 10 hours to drop off in Indianapolis Airport which he is going to help with storm damage for power and telephone line construction and they kept the only money he has to eat on. I just started using Hertz because of my AAA membership I have always used enterprise after this experience I don’t recommend using Hertz.

I got the car at the airport. Got a compact car at a decent price. My only complaint (although not specific to Hertz) is that rentals dont seem to get deep cleaned at all. I remember cars getting cleaned out after people rented them. This car was superficially clean though, nothing in it. The one other con is that no one was there to tell you where certain things were or how they worked, but didnt take long to figure out.

The car I rented smelled like cigarettes. I went to the exit and told the gentleman I wanted a different car that didnt smell like cigarettes. He told me that once I return it to the drop of location, I would receive compensation. But, after arriving to the drop off location, the guy at the counter told me that wasnt true, and I had to call the Indy airport to receive my compensation. Ive called several times over the past couple days and havent been able to reach anyone, and no one has called me back despite leaving messages. If you rent from the Indy airport, make sure you deal with the issue right then and there, or youll be sent on a wild goose chase like I did, and receive no compensation.

PLEASE READ BEFORE RENTING FROM THEM...If I could give them no stars I would. I shouldve used any other company, they simply suck and charged me an extra $300! I had the basic coverage on it and as Im going out I told the guy at the gate there was a smoking smell in the car and he told me not to worry about it, on top of that I had no one in the car that whole week I rented it for I brought the car back full tank and made sure it was clean from my side a couple days later I see they returned back the $200 safety deposit but they charged me a cleaning fee, and smokers fee PLEASE be careful they will claim you smoked in the car and I am not a smoker and I had to be put on hold several times with no answer to try and get a refund, I would advise you to use enterprise or any other company I never had problems with this is the first time I run into something like this and its disgusting they scam people like that.

Our flight was delayed so we got to the counter at 1:30am. There was only one woman working, but she worked quickly to get through everyone in line. Check in was about 3 minutes. The car was easy to find and was clean. There was a Hertz employee walking the lot to help if needed. Comforting as it was late and the lot was deserted (but well-lit). Turning the car in was also a breeze. Would rent from them again.

The airport location was staffed with only 2 agents on a Friday evening--prime time for traveling. I waited in line for nearly 20:00 before deciding to use another company. The nearby competitor though similarly staffed with as much traffic, at least acknowledged customers in line with an apology and assurance that someone would be with us as soon as possible.

I made my reservation through Orbitz. Everything was great other than one thing. I had a little trouble picking up my rental car.My reservation was @6:30am on Saturday. I went to the rental counter straight after getting of my plane. There was no one at the Hertz counter. I waited for 30mins… still no one. I saw few other people waiting like me, trying to figure out what’s going on. I called Orbitz, they told me they should be open. About 45 minutes passed after arriving, the female agent showed up from the parking and told us that they only open the rental counter at the parking on the weekend. Main counter inside the airport building is closed on the weekend. (I wish I knew!) The agent mentioned that the night before they were supposed to put the sign on the counter to inform about it but looks like they forgot. I hope this information will help your next rental with them!

With already have a bad week and too top it off Budget would not give me my prepaid for car. So not im stuck in Indy with my wife and 7month old. Being very angry and upset I happened to walk over to Hertz to see if they could help. The guy at the counter was amazing. I told him my issue and he just looked at me and said give me your ID I will take care of you and get you home. 5 min later I was in a car going home. Not only did he get me a car he talked to me for me calmed down and like he said took care of me. It may have cost me $30 more then Budget but the customer service was worth it. During one of the busy weeks in Indianapolis with the Indy 500 race that weekend, My car was ready, clean and full of gas.. No problems with the car. I did notice that with other companies I have rented from for the same period, their car came with free satellite radio and this one did not have satellite radio installed.. I am a Gold Club Member and overall I find Hertz does a great job. Indianapolis, unfortunately was not the great experience Im used to...The car was immaculate inside and out I received a free upgrade and the staff courteous. The challenge I had in Indy is that my name was on the board, I had a stall number and no vehicle. Once inside the office, they quickly moved me to another stall, this one had a vehicle and I was on my way. Fortunately, there was no line and this was a quick and easy process. All too often, my experience has been quite the opposite, Id like to see Hertz get this fixed.

I am a Gold Member with Hertz and have been for years. I prefer to rent only American cars and it is in my profile as such and I only select American cars from the menu. Over the last year and a half, every time I pick up my car it is a foreign vehicle. When I ask if there is an American car available I am met with an upgrade request and about a 20 minute delay while the paperwork is redone. I have had it. No more renting from Hertz

Great service when you book your car before arriving to the airport. It is a good experience to arrive and see your name in the stall with your car waiting for you. Some upgrade applies if you are a gold member, so enroll before your booking to get all the miles you can. Cars are clean and almost new, just a few millage. You can go to the gold members area and switch your car for a new one.

I am new to the car rental arena. I never rented a car before. I called Hertz at the Indianapolis airport just to ask a few questions regarding renting a vehicle. Basically I wanted to know how the process would work. I call the Gentleman Mr. Dont know. I explained that I had never rented a car before if he would help me understand the process. He asked me to hold and never returned to the call. I set on hold just to see if he would return before my patience ran out. I was patience for a little over 25 minutes.I am thankful that I did not give a dime to this company. As a business owner to know that my staff refused to help a potential customer would make my blood boil. Yet, its not my company and Im happy to go somewhere else.Best of luck keeping this location going. Especially turning away potential customers. :)

Upon exiting the employee asked if I wanted the pre-paid fuel purchase. I declined, informed him I would only be using using the car to visit my ill father who lives less than 40 miles away. He stated the process had changed and Id only be charged for the actual use, therefore I agreed. Upon returning, I was charged $72.38 for about a 1/4 of a tank of gas. The person who checked me in was less than empathetic, he just sternly said no the process did not change.On top of this, the car brakes squeaked the entire time. That particular weekend I was concerned because of the incoming weather as to whether or not those brakes would work. I also had to stop and purchase windshield washer fluid as the indicator reflected low as soon as I used it once..and finally it smelled of smoke. Considering the time of night I picked up the car and the severity of my dads illness, I had no time to have these items addressed.I am a frequent traveler for both pleasure and business. I am also an instructor for a major corporation who recommends Hertz to its over 9 million members for discounts..I may have to rethink my approach as to what company I recommend, we also deal with your 3 major competitors.What a way to get taken advantage of....since it was an emergency trip to see my father..it was already costly. I had hoped an organization I have done business with for more than 10 year would not have done this.Please retrain your employees so they are not leading their customers on...with false promises.

Our experience was mostly positive:- At the pick-up counter, we were told we would be getting a Ford Expedition, which was good. Since we would be 7 people plus luggage for a period of our trip, I specifically asked the counter associate if an EL (long version with an extra foot of cargo space) of the Expedition was available, was told no by the counter associate.- However, when we got to the parking garage there was an EL sitting next to our regular Exped.- I went to the counter in the garage, and for an extra $20/day was able to rent the bigger version.`- Why did the counter associate not know that the EL was available, and that he could up-sell me? Not thorough in his search? Lackadaisical?- Anyway the counter associate in the garage was very helpful, and I got the vehicle I needed.- The vehicle was perfect and the rest of our voyage was perfect.

No one was around to assist. We had to find and haul our own rented car seat we were instructed to dig out of the closet in the garage. Got to our reserved spot to find our car was missing. Still no one around to assist. Walked to exit and was told to just grab any car. By this time I had customer service on the phone telling me we couldn’t grab any car and had to go back. No apologies for the inconvenience and when I asked if we could at least be comped fuel was told no. No one around to do a walk around for vehicle damage. Its also posted visibly on the garage display, so it isnt even necessary to slow down to see my name and parking space. The franchise is extremely well-located immediately inside the parking garage. Returns are easy as well, if there happen to be other returns ahead of me, I can always jot down the time and mileage on my rental agreement and head on into the terminal. My receipt is emailed within moments. I have never had any issues.

We had a total of three cars in the matter of one weekend with Hertz. The first one we brought back because the battery light came on before we left on our trip. The second one HAD A NAIL IN THE TIRE when we got it. We didnt notice it until we went from Indiana to New York. We only noticed the low tire pressure. Luckily the tire didnt blow on us. While returning the second car in Rochester NY at the airport they made us go fill the tank to avoid the charge because apparently PUTTING OUR LIVES IN DANGER was worth a full tank of gas. We dealt more with Hertz than being able to spend time with family and missing out on our familys Thanksgiving this year. I highly suggest choosing a different rental company if you value your time, customer service, and your safety on the road.Already posted this review for the Rochester Airport. I felt it was important that the Indianapolis Airport saw this too.

I had to knock a star off because when I returned the vehicle there was no one waiting, nor was there any signage that specified what to do or where to go. Thankfully, a Hertz employee happened to walk by and was able to tell me, and another confused renter what we needed to do. Otherwise, it was a great experience, clean car, and easy pickup and return.

Best rental car experience ever! Highly recommend signing up for Hertz Gold Club in advance of rental and then online rental. No line! No waiting! Show drivers license when checking out auto. No waiting when checking auto back in. WOW!

Simply had to swap out cars because the car I drove from Dallas was having issues. Very smooth process and no hassles. Hertz area is one of the last rental companies once you enter the garage where the rentals are located.

Staff was smug and rude. Unwilling to help find a solution to the situation. Ridiculous that this is the customer experience that they want for their customers. I will NEVER rent from this company, EVER. Would highly advise you go to any rental car company. Due to my job I rent cars all the time and have never had a bad experience with National or Enterprise. Shame on you hertz!

I like Hertz terre haute service. Employees over there are very kind and helpful. They provide free pickups and drop for gold members. My car was already ready for pickup before I visit the location. I just grab the keys and leave. It is also cheaper compared to airport location.

Worst car rental in 20 years of renting cars.You have no choice with Hertz, and no isle for gold members. The car was not available, but the lot was full of cars. Service was supposed to bring the car up front, but delayed maybe 15 min. Then they gave me an excuse that the trunk did not work, so they took another 5 minutes to bring another car. Then the paperwork was not done so they took another 5 minutes. I guess it was 25 minutes waiting to get a car and get out of the parking lot. Nothing but excuses and no consolation for the trouble. Hertz is the worst company I have ever rented from, Including Enterprise, which is saying a lot. I am telling all my co-workers to avoid Hertz at every opportunity. I am complaining to our purchasing folks and making a stink about this lousy company all over our business. I want them thrown out because ALL of my co-workers are having bad experiences with Hertz. Someone has to be on the take that we stay with this company. Every single time I rent from them, there is a problem. It is like a trip to the dentist or being forced to listen to Justin Beaver, or having pepper spray squirted in my eyes while on the way to the court house to pay my taxes. I would rather be pulled through a knot hole backwards than to be forced into the cabin of another undersized midsized Hertz rental car.

Hertz always provide a great service especially if one is Gold Canopy. The only concern I have with the rental from Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is that during the return, the Express Return was not available for early travelers. I filled back the gasoline and put in the mileage however there was a vehicle blocking the Hertz return location entrance thereby jeopardizing the early traveler especially with the long TSA lines experienced lately. My flight departed at 516am and with the Hertz personnel arriving at 4am, this put me at risk of missing my flight out of IND. There were many customers in this same situation.Sincerely.
