Great place, awesome atmosphere. Was able to walk in and get a line up, staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back when Im in Indy agian. Its worth a try, also they have great hair products available for sale.
Very cool place! We live close to downtown and I have always wanted to go inside just to take a look. Well, fortunately my boyfriend needed a haircut and beard trim so thats where we went. Very friendly employees and the atmosphere was nice. I love old architecture and businesses staying with original pieces. Well definitely be back.
Best guy there is Tyler. He is fully vaccinated and yet respectful enough to wear mask, as almost all workers there. I would have given them a perfect rating had the shoe shine gentlemen not announced at every person coming that they dont have to wear a mask if they are fully vaccinated. While its their and state laws, I felt he didnt wear a mask and it is not his place to announce it at every chance. I have been going to reds for few years now and their experience and quality was excellent before mask mandate and still is so why not be courteous to others and wear a mask?
Cool place, bad barber. One side of my hair longer than the other, spotty cut. Just an overall shoddy job.Pro Tip:If you’re Latino/have thick, straight hair; Don’t come here. Chances are they have no idea how to work with your hair type.
Switched over to Reds about 2 months ago, 4 haircuts later and I dont think Ill be going anywhere else. Its high quality no matter who you see.
Grate staff and I really like the hair cut I got today looking forward to go back and I would recommend them if there heading downtown and needing a haircut 🙂
Top Notch. Cool place. Call in a reservation!
Randomly passing through the city. Was in need of a cut. This place opened at 8.00 am which was perfect timing. Great cut for great price.
Excellent haircut. The kind of haircut where a man can enjoy a classic place that helps restore his sense of self. Old school at its finest.
Great place! Very friendly and neat atmosphere!
Set an appointment, leave the rest up to the skilled barbers. William gave me one of the cleanest skin fades Ive had in a long time.
Great service and fun atmosphere. Oh, and nice haircut.
Great atmosphere. It was a really comfortable experience.
Got a fresh new cut after growing my nasty mop out for 3 years. One of the best cuts Ive gotten in my life.
I had an hour to myself and I am glad I spent it at Red’s. Haircut, shave and a shoe shine. Nice way to spend an hour or more.
Went for my first time a couple weeks ago Shawn was great. Will most Definitely be back. Great place great cut.
Welcoming from the moment I walked in the door. I ended up getting The Quartet, and I have to say, it was the single most relaxing thing Ive ever done. This was an amazing experience, and Tyler Baker, the barber in which I requested, was professional and very courteous. I will be returning and I will be requesting Tyler as long as available. Thank you everyone.
They can’t cut black peoples hair. If your black don’t even think about it they messed my entire cut up in now I have to wear a hat for two weeks. DON’T GO!!
Michael/Mike at Reds is a phenomenal barber. My experience was efficient and detailed. When I explained what I desired Michael was intuitive and artful in the craft. A truly conscientious and wise barber with a unique style and strong eyes for the curves of one’s head. I was in and out in under 15 minutes and had an organic and meaningful conversation. The haircut I received was excellent.Walk-in available. Joyful customer service.Big shout out to Michael, thanks for an awesome cut.
Tyler knows his stuff! Alittle of the expensive side.
I love Reds! I need a fresh fade!
First time there and it was amazing. Shawn was fantastic, she did exactly what I wanted..this is the place for me, I will be back. Thanks shawn.
LOVE THIS PLACE. So clean, professional, friendly, etc.Fair price for excellent service, Taylor is just exceptional with his work.
Its really frustrating what Michael did to me, I have temporary scars because he has a heavy hand and pushes stronger when he uses the machine. I have tried many of the barbershops in the Red’s Classic and they are good but Michael is not. Thank you Red’s Classic for making these scars on my face and losing a permanent customer.
I booked Reds for myself and my groomsmen the morning of my wedding and they provided a VERY cool experience for all of us. We were able to bring in food and beverages and hang out will also getting a GREAT shave and cut. i would HIGHLY recommend this place for a regular cut or an awesome experience with your crew.
This place is amazing!! Music could use a little updating... But that is trivial compared to the incredible staff and service. Bobby upfront always has a smile on his face and really knows the Depot products (sold me 2) I have never been brand loyal to a barber before but Tyler gave me the best hair cut I have ever had. Client for life now! Thank you Tyler!!!!
I’ll admit I asked for an unconventional cut but I brought plenty of photos for reference, which were blatantly ignored by the barber.I asked for just 1 inch off all around and he took off approximately 5 inches. On top of that it was ridiculously crooked. Not even remotely what I asked for. He kind of just did whatever he wanted. Almost as if he didn’t know how to do anything other than a crew cut.I’ve since done what I could to salvage it myself, but it’ll take months to grow it out and repair this mess.Don’t come here if you have hair longer than a couple inches and DEFINITELY not if you want a cut that’s not super standard and basic.
I stopped here after always being dissatisfied with my Great Clips haircuts. Im very happy that I did. Shaun took time to listen to me and we found out together exactly what I was looking for. She was very nice, personable, and professional. I would recommend her and Redds for sure. Thank You Shaun.
Great Barbers and polite customer service
Upon arrival - super pumped to try this place I’ve heard such great things about. Awesome vibe, great greeting, was able to come a little early and get in.I showed Tyler the desired haircut. Pretty simple, straight across textured bangs, bald fade sides and back.He did not talk or try to make conversation the entire time, made one joke, and continued to cut my hair. At the end, he (with my hair still wet and not styled at all) told me that I was good to go.I had to ask him for a towel to dry my hair to see the finished result. He grabbed it for me. I told him that the bangs needed to be straightened out, as they were OBVIOUSLY crooked. He cut some off. Had to ask him AGAIN, and he rudely told me to move my arm. A total of 3 times I had to ask him to fix it. I ended up telling him I’d have to fix it myself and he accepted that.It was still obviously crooked, the cashier agreed. She told me I could wait for another barber to fix it, but would need to wait for their current cuts to finish up. She did not charge me, and apologized for my inconvenience.I literally ran back to the store, bought hair product. Went back to work FUMING, and ended up cutting my own hair.
Been coming here for almost 2 years and always been satisfied with the service. Everyone is friendly. Love the nostalgia especially the music
Elliot never disappoints!
I have been going to different barbers around the state for years and I have to say, Red’s is the best. Wonderful atmosphere, luxury with that old-time barbershop feel, and all of the barbers are extremely talented and super friendly. Mr. William Hogg is the best. Always gives me incredible fades, takes his time, and is the nicest guy. Always impressed by his work and our conversation. Love this place!
I have been to reds a total of 4 times. The first 3 times, I went for their top service the quartet. I asked for the haircut, shave, and shampoo. The first 2 visits went well. The third visit I went in I got a hair cut, and a shave but was charged for the quartet. The barber, “Jennifer” mentioned being on the keto diet, and seemed to be struggling. I tipped the barber hoping to make her day brighter, and later just told myself no more quartets. Next time, I will just get a “haircut.” Weeks had passed by as I was growing out my bangs for a haircut with no hard lines. I specifically told the barber, “Al” multiples times what I was doing, and what I wanted. It seemed that the barber was not giving me his full attention. The barber put hard lines in my hair. I kept cool being optimistic thinking well surely it is a nice line up. The barber gives me this scratched up mirror to where I can barely see myself to “check it out.” I am like perfect, and I leave. I do not want to me negative I try to stay positive. When I got to my car, and looked at myself in the rear view, I lost it. It is going to take me 2 more months to grow my hair line back out. So frustrating after giving reds $130 for services, and tips on 2 visits that where disappointing. I did call, and spoke to the receptionist because no manager or owner was at the barbershop. I asked that the owner or manager contact me which no one ever did. This is what I got after telling the barber multiplies do not get into my hair line. The barber “Al” took my bangs off with liners, and gave me side lines that are not symmetric.
Went today for the first time, highly recommended! I was referred to Elliot by a friend of mine and he did a top notch haircut. I have never had an experience like I did at the Barber Shop! Best haircut I have ever gotten! I’m honestly excited to go back and get another. Elliot described the love of the feeling sitting in the chair and I now completely agree after my experience with them. Other staff was amazing as well, very professional in everything they do!Update 20181128: I have been consistently going to this Barber Shop for haircuts. Each experience is amazing and I get the very best results every time. I am always excited to go get my haircut and feel amazing from the moment I sit in the chair.
Tyler was great. Gave this place a shot after my last barber cut my hair way to short against my wishes. Tyler was great gave me the uncut I asked for with a SUPER CLEAN razor fade. This is now my favorite spot in Indy for a cut or shave. They offer walk-ins as well as by appointment. The quality of service was unparalleled. Thanks tyler!
My nephew said its the best place in indy to get a cut
I love Reds Barber shop. I have been to this place multiple times and only one time did I not get the haircut I was wanting (because I booked someone I usually dont due to timing). The staff is always super friendly and welcoming and over the years, they always have employed a diverse workforce, which I also support! Not only this, but the straight-razor shaves are amazing!
Just went for the first time today. I got my head straight razor shaved, beard trimmed, and neck straight razor shaved, and my boots polished.A one stop shop for grooming. Loved the ambiance, friendly staff, and the whole feel. I will, without a doubt, make this a common occurrence for myself.
All sizzle, no steak. Ive been here twice. Once for a straight-shave, second time for a hair cut. Both experiences lacked quality and I was disappointed with the result. The shop has many interesting and unique items and a really cool feel -- but talent of the Barbers is lacking.
Reds was a very professional establishment. You get what you pay for, and this place is great. All the barbers are dressed nicely in shirts and ties. The staff is very friendly. The haircuts are professional quality. The facility is clean and it has a classic barbershop feel to it.There are a variety of services they offer from shoe shining to beard trimming. They sell plenty of products for haircare and facial hair maintenance.Definitely worth the trip. Lastly, you dont need cash like most barbershops! The receipt is sent directly to your email address.
I havent been to Reds in a while and Ive missed it! Love the atmosphere and was able to get my haircut and beard trimmed up and ready for interviews!
Classic in many ways!! Customer service is excellent! Barbers are attentive and respectful. True gentlemen and gentlewoman! Net clean shop plus you can get your shoes shined.
Matthew does a fantastic job cutting my hair. All the lovely help at the front desk makes it so simple and easy to not only make appointments but get in and get out quickly. Also, cannot forget my guy William, another great barber. Highly recommend Reds.
Came in for a cut and face shave. Mike took amazing care of me. Thanks again Mike!
Ive gotten my haircut at Reds for several years and they never disappoint. William is my regular barber but Ive also had Tyler, Elliott, and Al all cut my hair. Each of them has done a great job. I enjoy the conversations and the comradery between the patrons and the barbers. The shop can get busy at times so make sure to call ahead. Also, they do a great shoe shine.
$22 for a straight razor haircut by any one of several well trained barbers. Other services are extra. They take good care of you, especially if you know what you want. The decor is very 1950s manly barbershop vibe with a bit of modern hipster tossed in. Call for an appointment to guarantee you can walk in to a chair, but same day, usually within the hour seems to be the rule in my experience. Like most old-school style barbershops make sure to tell them if you dont want the cologne, otherwise youll smell like your great-grandpa for the rest of the day.
I went for a beard trim and a classic haircut, I left with what I wanted, the shop has everything you need, youre taking care of, its fast, precise and a very good barber shop.Ive had a wonderful experience thereThanks again
Thanks Matt. Nice job!Great space. Scheduling appointment was easy.
Great barbershop. Cool staff. Nick did an excellent job!
One of the best barber
Old fashion barber shop with hair cuts, shaves and shoe polisher. The staff is educated and takes their time to give you a really nice shave and cut. It isnt the cheapest place in the world but to me a good hair cut is worth way more than they charge. I really like the place and wont get a haircut anywhere else.
Don’t advertise / offer beard trims as a service if your staff doesn’t know how to trim beards. I came in to get a bit of a shape up on my beard and lined up well, and instead I got hacked up with a guard on a trimmer. It was so misshapen and uneven I had to head back to my hotel and cut it even shorter to fix it myself. A beard trim involves hot towels, combing out the beard, and trimming it down evenly. She literally treated my beard like an army buzz cut shave. Unbelievable. if you have more than three weeks of beard growth, definitely go somewhere else that knows what they are doing with longer beards.
This is the best barber shop Ive ever visited. The prices are reasonable and the cuts are top notch. I always get my hair cut here.
I was in need of a hair cut and just a little pampering. So, I decided to treat myself to a good, old fashioned, barber shop hair cut and shave. Why not go all out. So, I called Reds to schedule an appointment. I decided to go this the Barber Shop Quartet. It had everything I was looking for. A straight razor shave, a shampoo and razor finish. Ive never shaved with a straight razor, let alone allowed someone to hold a straight razor to my neck. So, I was a little nervous, to say the least. Scheduling the appointment was easy and they were able to fit me in on a busy Friday during my lunch. I showed up about five minutes early and had a ten minute wait. The vintage decor of the shop was very pleasant and the atmosphere was calming. After checking in, I was greeted by John who would be taking care of me. He was extremely polite and very welcoming. John listen to what I was looking for, hair style wise, and executed with perfection. The entire process wasnt what interested me. John has a massive amount of knowledge when it comes to history and I love talking history. So, while my face was covered up in preparation for the straight razor shave. John shared story after story that were extremely well told and captivated my interests the entire time. The straight razor shave wasnt bad at all. Actually, Ill be going back to John for another. Honestly, the entire process was great but the conversation with John won me over. If you looking for a nice, comforting experience. I would recommend you make that phone call to Reds and ask for John. Well, worth it and I will certainly be back.
Awesome
Ive been having William at Reds cut my hair for many years. Hes a great guy and does a very good job! Also nice to get your shoes shined while your getting a trim. The straight razor on the back of the neck is the perfect finishing touch.
Best berbershop in the city. Micheal Anderson does a fantastic job, after I left my old barber who was at Riley towers, I had Micheal and he is the best barber in the city. You get a better quality haircut than what you pay for.
Al is the man never disappointed with what he does. Always kills my Hair cut.
Excellent place for a shave and a haircut. They also have a selection of old-timey grooming products as well. Good staff. Every Ive stopped in has been a good experience.
First of all Id like to say that I have been a regular customer at Reds for almost three years now. I used to love it in the beginning, the atmosphere was nice and the service was top notch. However, Im sad to say that all that has changed. For the past year or so they have been changing the barbers like crazy and maybe only a couple of the original barbers are still working at the shop. The new guys look like they are apprentices and have no idea what they are doing, I have been there multiple times and described them the same haircut, and I havent gotten the same cut twice!I looks like Reds is using its reputation as a cash cow by hiring inexperienced barbers and still charging you $23 for a haircut. Im sorry but Im not going to pay somebody almost $30 along with tip for them to practice cutting hair on me!Im very sad that this has happened, because I truly enjoyed the experience and did not mind paying the premium for the hair cut. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere else!Note: Most of the reviews here say is great, and would agree with them at the time, but most of them are over two years old.
Fast cheap cuts. Great place to go and great haircuts every time.
If you have to sell one of your children, its worth it to sit in a chair at Reds. But you wont have to; their prices are super-reasonable.Best barber shop Ive ever visited.
Ive been going to Reds for five years now. William and Mike are the guys who have taken care of me most over the years. The haircuts are top notch and the atmosphere feeds my nostalgia for an era Im too young to remember. If youre looking for a salon, if youre looking for just a run of the mill trim with no conversation, if youre looking for mediocrity - this isnt the place.Reds has been a part of my Saturday morning routine over the years because it is an experience you will come to crave. Let the music be a retreat from noise of a busy day. The conversation beats any of the talking heads you cant get away from on the news. The camaraderie of the barbers and staff draws you in. If you let them, theyll make you family. All that, plus you walk out of there with a hair cut worth three times the price.
I will never again go back to this barber shop. Last year, funnily enough around the same day, I went to Reds looking for a nice modern cut. I showed the barber an image of the cut I wanted (gradual fade on the sides with good length on top) and instead of following my instructions, the barber took a number two all the way up to my side-part and decided I wanted a rigid, slicked-back pompadour, which wasnt even remotely close to the image I showed him. Cue one year later, and instead of getting the cut I wanted (think Lucky Blue Smith hair—I even showed pictures), the barber—sure enough—took a number three all the way up to my part and gave me—you guessed it—a rigid, slicked-back pompadour (autopilot, anyone?). This time, however, was even worse than the other time. He spent almost no time at all on my hair. A quick number three on the sides and an incredibly sloppy blend around the crown and, voila, he was finished. You could tell he just wanted to clock out and leave. To his credit, he did not charge me for the cut after noticing my displeasure, but that doesnt fix the incredibly ugly hair I have to deal with until it grows back. Save your money and go to Great Clips--youll get the same service significantly cheaper.
Well they advertise that they take walk ins. Not So much. 4 empty chairs. 3 barbers standing around and no one in the waiting area. I’m nearly bald. My haircut and neck shave take at best 8 minutes. They couldn’t fit me in for an hour???? Walked into Jacks 3 blocks away. Sat down. Walked out 8 min later done. Thanks Jacks. I’m sure Reds will reply that I’m somehow wrong and it’s my fault etc.
Michael A cut my hair today. I was discussed by the smell of his fingers. I assume he was just on a break and smoked a cigarette before he cut my hair. I wanted to say something but didn’t. Payed my fee but won’t go back to see him.
Amazing place! Very classic and you even get free coffee! Al did an amazing job on my hair and beard!
The staff amazing I had my kids there and they were kinda crazy and they were so sweet and accommodating, however, the barber experience was a different story . I brought my husband here as a special treat and told the stylist to fade his hair from a zero, leave top long and a hard part. He left with no hard part and his hair is tapered like Gumby. Not only that but I paid for the barber shop trio and he told me she did not shampoo him even though thats what I paid for. She did a shave but that was crooked as well. Just super upset that his experience was not what I paid for. Hopefully this was just a bad day for her, but we wont be back sad to say.
The do a good job with there work. They really take the time to make your hair look great. And they are very nice too
Al Jefferson is the man and so is William Hogg! Great work for a fair price and always good conversation at Red’s.
First time in today and had Al as a barber. Amazing work. Fade, lining, everything. Best clean up I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend Al and Reds!
Great hair cut. Great service. Cozy spot. Love the decor and the barber is awesome. Would recommend to anyone!
Average hair cut, terrible beard trim, but main reason for 2-stars is how rough my barber Al was. Rough with literally everything he does, even using the brush to clean my face. He kept bumping the trimmer to my head like people were chasing him. Didn’t speak a word either just mumbled a few times. I regret leaving him a 20% tip.
I have been going here since 2006, William has cut my hair since 2007, he is by far the best barber in the joint. Professional and can do it all. I have had straight razor shaves and hundreds of hair cuts. Always, perfect and efficient. This year I started taking my son (18 months old). He HATES getting his hair cut. Cries and throws a fit, but sits reasonably still. William has managed to give him a GREAT hair cut every time. Even did a Mohawk today!! I dont know how he does it. If you go there and manage to get an appointment with William you will never go anywhere else again!!!!!
Very professional. All I had done was a beard trim and the barber took his time and make sure he had done what I asked for. Got my suede shoes cleaned up while I had my beard trimmed and the dude that did it hooked it up. Definitely suggest this spot
My barber Shawn P. Works there she knows her way around all types of hair. And she listens to me and we choose my styles together.
Great barber shop. Vintage atmosphere where barbers really know their craft. Staff is friendly and very respectful of your time. Quality products available to purchase from established brands as well as newcomers. Highly recommended.
Old School, Real Barber shop. Shoe shines and all. Great atmosphere, great cuts, and shaves. Classy
Barbers tend to turn over somewhat quickly, but if you find one you like, its a good shop.
Nostalgic, old-timey barbershop. The staff and quality of service is good. Highly recommend this place.
1st and most of all l get a top flight haircut the atmosphere is for all there u can get a shoe shine hair and facial products nice straw hats and everybody cares
Went twice, the first time was good. Tried to get the same comb over the second time, and it was a bad. Now I have to wear hats.
Ill never go anywhere else and Ill never have my hair cut by anyone else. My barber was (is) Matt. Hes friendly, professional, and extremely skilled. Call ahead and schedule an appointment. Youll love it!
Fantastic experience getting my haircut at Reds. Looking forward to my next cut there.
Great and friendly staff! Would recommend 10/10 times!!
William is the best and awesome experience as always!
Great service professional barbers nice clean atmosphere very relaxed
Love this place! Great cut and shave every time. Not overpriced.
Barbers here are very familiar with current hair trends. They offer variety of services; cutting hair, straight blade razor shaves, beard trims or whatever style you need. The barbers are very talented and very friendly.Kudos!!!!
Best haircut Ive ever gotten.Worth every penny
Michael is hands down the best here, although all these guys are top notch. Amazing staff, cuts that make even an ugly mug look good. Youre gonna pay at least $25 for a cut, but dont forget to tip!
William is the best!!!
Michael did a great job. Takes appointments and was prompt. Online scheduling now available. Very thorough and great conversation. Looking forward to my next visit.
