Jason has been my barber for a long time. Always gives you what you want while also making good suggestions. All the barbers there are great and make your experience easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend.

I have been going to Jason and his team at Black Orchid Barbers for over 3 years now and it is hands-down the best barbershop in Indy. I have never had a problem with the team running late on their appointments, and always feel as though I am getting the proper attention during my time there. The team does takes pride in their work and truly takes their time with each and every client; I have never felt rushed during an appointment.Black Orchid is the definition of you get what you pay for and their prices are very reasonable for the attention to detail and personalized service you get as a client. They usually require booking in advance online, but dont let that sway you--you want your barber to be busy!Keep up the great work, team!

All the barbers are super welcoming when you walk in. The environment couldn’t be friendlier. I have been seeing Tanner at the downtown location for going on 3 years and have never left dissatisfied. Admittedly i wish the cost of the haircut was a little lower but the quality always justifies it easily. All genders are welcome so if you’re looking for a new place to get the mop chopped, this is the one for you no doubt.

I moved to Indianapolis a few days ago and I am someone who likes to get weekly haircuts, so I spent some time online finding a barbershop. I am beyond grateful the first barbershop I visited in Indy exceeded my expectations. The manager greeted me with sincere friendliness as soon as I walked in and I instantly felt comfortable. I am particular about my haircut, but my barber knew exactly what I was going for. She treated me with respect and kindness while giving me a professional and absolutely amazing haircut, by far the best haircut I ever gotten!

Black Orchid is a cool, convenient and high quality barber shop. Jason is my go-to guy, good dude, good haircuts. And I love how active they are in the community as they’ve shaved hundreds of heads to raise money for children’s cancer research through St. Baldricks. Highly recommend.

Took my son for a haircut here tonight for the first time. Hes had a lot of trips to the barber in his life, but he said this is the first time he had a cut that was customized to him. Loved that we could make an appt. online and that they have evening hours. Very clean shop in convenient location close to Mass Ave. We will be back!

This was my first time going to an actual barbershop. Never did anything with my hair before, I would always just get a buzz cut. Cody was great. Super professional and did me up real nice. He also recommended one of their products for my super dry hair, the leave in conditioner, which has been doing wonders for it. Very clean and good looking building and the mass ave location is very easily accessible too. Would definitely recommend going to cody or probably any of the other barbers employed by black orchid.

Very informative haircut. I like the results a lot but my only complaint is that the barber took too long. He nearly spent over an hour on my hair which the appointment was listed for only 30 minutes.

I have been getting my haircut by Cody for a few months now, and it’s always a great experience. He takes the time to make sure he’s providing quality work, and you’ll leave knowing you have a fresh, clean look.

When booking, there was no address when booking. Just says downtown. When I went to my appt down town, when I thought I was at the normal place I saw that they moved. Unaware of this, I call and tell them the situation and they said to go ahead and come. I get there 12 late due to several events downtown and absolutely terrible parking, told my situation and felt like no one cared or listened. Will not be going back. Didn’t feel heard. Owner reached out, was very considerate. Still didn’t have the greatest experience overall but owner helped improve it some.

So, I was looking for a barber about a year ago, went to a few places and it was just okay, not fantastic. Then last year at the Yelp event Drew approached me and told me a bit about Black Orchid and I was like “well why not”. Went in for a haircut and never looked back. Black Orchid has been amazing, Drew is awesome and ALWAYS gives a great cut. I’ve also been to Tanner and he was fantastic as well! I would 10000% recommend anyone go here. SUPER accepting place and wonderful people. I’m so glad I gave them a shot and you should too. You won’t walk away disappointed.

I have had my hair cut by Jason for 3 1/2 years, and all I have to say is that he is by far one of the best barbers Ive known. Always great to catch up on life and city events all while getting a great cut. Every barber at black orchid is very knowledgeable about hair styles and give great advice on how what products to use for your type of hair.

I have gone there 3 times now and have had my hair cut by Cody Deruby. This young man is very good. I drive from Brownsburg in Hendricks County to have him cut my hair. He is very professional and takes his time to make sure you get the cut and style you are looking for. The barbershop is also very clean and has a very friendly staff. I will definitely keep coming to see Cody at the Black Orchid Barbershop.

I’m very very picky with how my hair looks and since moving to Indianapolis I have yet to find someone that cuts it the way I like it, well up until yesterday, I went in, showed him a picture of the exact look I was going for and he killed it!! A pleasant experience all around. First time visit without issues. Had a lot of hair to get rid of from quarantine and my barber (Drew) made easy work of it without hesitation.

Wonderful little barber shop. Before I came here, I was a regular Great Clips customer. Why? I didnt want to spend more than 20 bucks for a haircut. Yeah, I know. I was being cheap. When I started growing a beard, I knew I was going to have to cave and get a professional hair cut. I took a chance with Black Orchid Barbers, and it is the greatest chance I could have taken. I had not cut my hair for over 9 months as I was trying to grow it out for the first time in my life ( I’m 40yrs old), but decided I wanted to go back to a short style. I was in town for business and looked up the barber shops around my hotel with good reviews and went for it. The shop had a great friendly and layed back vibe and all the patrons were cool to talk to while we waited. I had an appointment with Dani and was not sure exactly what I wanted for a final style. I gave her a general idea and she delivered on the final hair style and beard trim, as well as being very personable. I have been to many shops around the country and this experience was one of my top five. Dani did a great cut and the other barber results looked good with happy patrons.

Dani is the BEST in the game!! Always leave feeling so fresh and like a new man. She won’t disappoint. If you’re looking for your average barber this is not the place. Only the BEST from these master artist!

Great place & location. My first haircut in Indy and was little worried after being with my previous stylist for 13 years in NY. Tanya made me feel at home and did an excellent job with my outgrown hair for a very nominal price. If you need a perfect trim ask for Tanya!! Only negative is they do not offer hair wash but will definitely be going back.

Went and got a haircut yesterday for my first time at Black Orchid Barbers. I was instantly greeted at the door and ended up having a great overall experience. Tanya did a fantastic job and I plan on visiting again. Would recommend them to all of my friends. They also give a $5 discount on Mondays for students so that was a bonus!

Walked in for an appointment. They gave me a beer, which was dope, but then I never got to drink it during my cut because my barber wouldnt let me. I wish there was a little less of the vibe there. They are trying to force the issue to attract a certain crowd, but they are all great ppl and they should just let that bring in the crowd they want. I wasnt hype about my haircut, but Ill take some of the blame because I asked for it to be cut shorter. Oh well, hair grows back, and Ill be coming back.
