I would NEVER recommend this place. I took my car to the Michigan Rd. location and for a week straight received consistent broken promises. I took my car in for service Monday evening to get looked at on a Tuesday. By Wednesday afternoon my car still hadn’t been looked at until I called and threatened taking my vehicle to another shop. It was finally looked at and diagnosed on Wednesday evening. I was told my car would be ready by Friday evening and at the latest Saturday morning before 12 (closing time). I finally received notice that my vehicle was done late afternoon on Monday. Within 10 miles of driving my car (less than 2 hours later) it was on FIRE. Stay away! Find another credible company for transmission service!
They worked on two of my vehicles one was a Ford focus and you needed a brand new transmission and clutch they didnt have one so they rebuilt mine worked good as new. My second vehicle that I brought there was a 2013 Chevy Silverado Z71 and I needed the rear end oil changed. They did the job quickly and Ive had no issues they also did a diagnostics and inspection and told me what other items I may need to replace for prevent from going bad before they do go bad. Hall and o il that being said if there has to be an issue after work from this shop they are quick to remedy it in any fashion.
I took my truck in to get serviced and it sat in the same spot where I dropped it off at for 2 and a half days and they never touched it. Never got a call, never got an update. I asked for my keys back and took it to Malles Automotive on 71st Street and they fixed my truck expeditiously and now it runs great.
Edwards transmission is an awesome place, they are fair, reasonable, works with you and always had great customer service. Thanks you guys and Ill highly recommend you guys to ppl 🙏
Chad took care of me and got my truck running again for a reasonable price. He let me know what I needed, how much it would cost and was very friendly thru the whole experience.
Youre saying I need a new engine when all I needed was a timing chain kind of have to figure this one out
I was suggested this place from another car mechanic for resolving my transmission issues. I specifically told them that I came here because I was told that the car has transmission leak. They kept my car for a day and a half and then asked to pay the full price $120 for checking my car and was told that they wont mess with the transmission because it is a hybrid and suggested going to a Toyota Service center. They shouldve said this before taking my car for transmission diagnosis. They should have been more knowledge about car being a hybrid before accepting to work on transmission and charging me.
Excellent customer service. My vehicle was finished quicker than I would have expected. Also, it would have been easy for them to have taken advantage of my lack of knowledge but they were honest (I thought I was having transmission or engine issues; it was a broken axle). There were several things that are needing repairs soon. The staff was informative about expectations and was NOT pushy. That is a big deal for me. 10/10 I will use their service again and I would recommend.I dont know price comparisons. They MAY be higher priced than some of their competitors, Im unsure. I think you get what you pay for though.Ive heard it said with car repairs you can pick two of the three: good, fast, and cheap. With Edwards you get a good repair done quick. Ill take that.
They were perfect, respectful, honest and speedy.
If I could give them zero stars I would
I took my car 2 these guys like 2 yrs ago 2400 2 rebuild my trans in a 04 Accent I have not had any problems since then good work guys and ill be back
I had a knock in my engine 5.4 after going to five different places including a Ford dealership these guys were able to properly diagnosed and repaired for a reasonable price.
Edwards replaced the clutch in my 2001 Subaru a few years ago. It works very smoothly now. Recently, they replacing the shifter bushings and it also works well. I spoke with several different managers and they were kind and professional. I also spoke with the technicians about the details of the repairS. I appreciated them all. I considered giving them four stars because I had to take it back to re-tighten the shift linkage after the first repair. But, they were courteous and quick to sort it out at no charge. The costs of these services were way less than the dealer. I’m grateful to keep this 18 year old Subaru running well. Thanks Edwards!
My car had taken a dump recently I knew it was the transmission. I had originally towed the car to the nearest Firestone. Was then told that Edwards transmission would be the best place to take it to.Called them, Edwards transmission went ahead and towed the vehicle to their location on Michigan road in Indianapolis. After they made their diagnostics and gave a quote. I told them I wasnt going to fix it. They then gave me 3 business days to get it off their lot which in my opinion is too short of time to move it.What bothered me even more is that when I went to go pick it up. I noticed my wireless headphones I had left in the central cupholders was missing. Thievery is not cool.
UselessHad to go elsewhere to get it fixed.
I needed a second opinion on a transmission issue. Marty answered the call and was very helpful. He followed up and was able to have Spencer take a look for no extra charge. While the outcome was still not ideal, Spencer did a great job explaining everything to me and was pleasant to work with. Great job!
The guys at this location are amazing. Mike and Spencer and everyone has always treated my husband and I with great respect. They take the time to get the right diagnosis and fix the right thing and not charge you an arm and a leg for something that didnt need to be fixed. Highly recommend this place!
** WARNING DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF CARS OR TAKING SOMEONE WITH YOU THAT DOES, THEY WILL SCREW YOU AND OVER CHARGE YOU x10 !! **Originally we took it to them, they did a diagnostic and said it was sludge. Told her they would flush it & to get a major flush in 6 months. She’d be fine. Paid 100’s. Literally drove it off the lot and it over heated. Took it back to them & they had the car for almost 2 weeks. Then all of a sudden it was the radiator. (not sure why this wasn’t found out in the $100 and something dollar diagnostic) Told her to fix a radiator it’s normally $1200 for part + labor but they would take it down to $500. WE ASKED SEVERAL MECHANICS & THIS IS A $100 PART WITH THE TYPE OF CAR. We told them we DID NOT WANT IT. They took the car apart anyway just sure that they were going to get the money. THEN THEY CHARGED $130 TO GET THE CAR BACK FOR “FLUSHING” IT. EVEN THOUGH THATS WHAT WE ORIGINALLY PAID FOR BEFORE WE TOOK THE CAR BACK FOR OVER HEATING! This place is a WHOLE rip off and they preyed on my mother since she’s a female. GO ELSE WHERE!!!!
I was very impressed with the services received at Edwards. The customer services was great, and I was called before my car was worked, and I was advised of the issue. Additionally, the price of the repair was reasonable. Great place to take your car.
Terrible service, they will break your stuff and take months to repair it. They say they are ASE certified but cant find a drain plug smh never EVER bring your vintage vehicle to this location
Very good service! I needed my AC looked at and Brian was very helpful! Highly recommend! They do more than just transmission work!
Very professional and kept me informed on the process. Staff was very pleasant
They don’t know what they’re doing. They charge well over $1000 to my father and nothing was fixed on his vehicle. They refused to give us anything back. They just told us they couldn’t figure out what was wrong and why they couldn’t fix the heater. I do NOT recommend this place.
Cool team they got my sons truck back to going and they were friendly. And courteous thanks guys Appreciate you all. Our. Son is so happy to have his truck back. Cant keep him out of it
Very knowledgeable and reasonable prices
These guys don’t mess around. The manager Spencer is honest, and offered me a fair price for quality work, with a good warranty. Great crew out there. Highly recommend this Michigan Road location above the others
After leaving the dealership I called Edwards and explained that the dealership would not work on my transmission because they just wanted to replace it. Edwards sent a tow to pick up my truck and in a few days they had it fixed and cut the cost in half from what the dealership wanted. . They kept me informed every step of the way, explained the cost, and process. Thanks to their team I was able to get my truck back to running like new.
Ron Brown was employed at Edwards Transmissions & Engines for less than two days. Mr. Brown exhibited extremely limited comprehensive skills, and some very questionable and inappropriate behaviors towards the Edwards Transmissions family of employees. At no time was Mr. Brown allowed to interact with Edwards Transmissions clients during this very short period of time. Upon review of Mr. Browns somewhat delayed background investigation, it was discovered that Mr. Brown has an extensive criminal record, including convictions, for a wide variety of serious crimes. Mr. Brown also falsified his employment application. Mr. Brown was discharged immediately upon discovering these facts.Edwards Transmissions & Engines has been serving the Indianapolis area for over 30 years, and continues to be Indys premier auto repair facility. We believe that our stellar reputation and good standing in the Indianapolis community for 33 years more than speaks for itself. Protecting our customers and our family of employees from dangerous, predatory individuals such as Mr. Brown is a responsibility that we take very seriously. We thank you, Indianapolis, for your continued patronage, and for the honor of serving generations of Indianapolis residents for more than three decades. We look forward to many more years of serving central Indiana. And Eds Mom thanks you, too!
Had an engine swapped after I totally messed it up trying to fix it myself. They were nice and very helpful. Spencer did a good job of communicating with me. Just used that truck to haul 14,000 pounds with no issues after the engine swap.
They have had my car a little over a month I was told I needed a new fuel pump which was almost $600. Picked my car up drove home ten minutes up the street called them told them it was making a strange noise they told me to bring it back I could not because it wouldnt start so they had to tow it the next day Spencer told me my fuel filter had failed so they are going to replace it thats was on a Friday come Monday told me my head gaskets are blown I need a new engine and here we are a over a month later still my car isnt fixed every week its well get to it next week horrible service
Straight forward in my interactions with them and they got the leaky cooler line fixed on time as promised. They also pointed out some additional areas on the suspension that were worn and in need of replacement in the not to distant future. No high pressure at all. Lastly I was late getting to pick up my care and they waited for me. Thanks guys.
This shop was a breath of fresh air. They didnt play games with me. Spencer was straight up about the repairs needed. The team there got it done very fast and for a good price. I will use them again.
Spencer and Mike are very helpful and explain things thoroughly. They work on all makes on models including European cars. They replaced spark plugs on my V8 Jaguar without any issues. They are a good alternative to other import shops.
I was dreading having transmission work done. Years ago a unnamed transmission shop ( NOT Edwards) had really did me dirty . Transmission problems can be something small to something that can be catastrophic to your finances. Devon, at Edwards Transmissions kept me informed through the process of finding the problem. They started with the outside (the transmission) possibilities then went on from there. The team at Edwards found the problem in a timely manner and gave me a price lower than I expected. My vehicle was back on the road very quickly and my transmission is shifting smoothly. Thank you, for not taking advantage and for making this process as stress free as possible.
These folks do extremely great work. Several friends of mine have used the service. And are very happy
When I made an appointment for 9:30 am for the $109 diagnostic my car was finally checked the NEXT afternoon, only after I made 2 more visits thinking it would be ready. My issue was a growling noise making hard right turns. The front end and tires had already been gone through. The verbal diagnosis was “a failing fluid pump in the transmission” and “for $500 we can pull the transmission and see what parts are worn”.Edwards merited the one star for the guys at the front desk that were courteous none the less.4-21 Update: after an additional 1 1/2 years and 17,000 miles my transmission is still operating smoothly. My problem was just a noisy wheel hub assy that was transmitting through the transaxle. And it was diagnosed at the competition at no charge.A reliable mechanic told me the 4T60-E transmission is bullet proof.
The took my engine apart and gave it back to me in pieces once I didnt want to go thru with the repair because the cost was too high. I paid tgem almost 600 to see what the noise was in my engine and when they said 5600 I didnt want the repair. They could have put my engine back together. Im suing. Keystone location ugh
Michael and Sean are real straight up. They know what they do, what needs to be done and explains what is going on and why it should be done. It is so refreshing to deal with honest people that are there to help you not take advantage of you. Thank you.
My vehicle had a frustrating intermittent stalling issue, along with other minor concerns. The folks at the Michigan Road store took the time and had the patience to track the issue, and resolve it. Now my Impala, despite its many miles, runs well and gets me where I need to go always. Thanks, fellas!
Great experience! I will be returning for sure.A job well done and on time.
Everyone at the Edwards Transmissions on Michigan Road did a great job taking care of me and got us back on the road in a timely and affordable way! Highly recommend.
They fixed my transmission but it leaked afterward. They also claimed to add new parts to other areas of my car, but didnt get authorization from me first.I wouldnt go to them again. I took my car to McKinneys to have the leak fixed. They do a tremendous job with excellent service.
Edwards has been nothing but good to us!! We have taken multiple vehicles here but most recently I have realised how wonderful they are. They helped us fix a problem in our vehicle that could have been very bad. Thank you Edwards but especially Spencer!!
We do great business
I was a little anxious about having my truck checked out because I thought that the transmission was going out. Spencer checked it and found a minor problem on the engine and fixed it for a lot less money than I thought. I would recommend these guys to everybody!
It is an honor to be a member of the Edwards Transmissions & Engines family of employees, and I appreciate the opportunity to serve each and every one of you. Thank you for your continued patronage!
Great customer service
Timely service, very satisfied and the warranty topped cake...polite and friendly aswell!!!
I was in town all the way from Raleigh visiting family. My clutch went kerplunk on me after the long drive in the mountains. I went to Edwards becauae I knew the name. I had to be back for a work deadline and Edwards is the sole reason I was able to get to work on Monday. Spencer and his crew went out of their way on a Saturday to do right by my truck and me. A new clutch has made a huge difference and Edwards professionally rescued me out of a bad situation. Thank you.
I could write a book on why not to take your car here for ANYTHING! Not even an oil change! I submitted my information on the day they responded to this review and have yet to hear from anyone in regards to my issues. Sounds about right because that is how the communication was while they had my car for 2 months. Even had to take my car back after this review for an oil cap for the engine they replaced.....shame on you Edwards!
There is no way those whom wrote about Edwards Transmission had a goos experience. My wife SUV stayed on there lot the first 2-weeks. In 3-weeks we had to take it back again about the transmission and this time it stayed there for 3-weeks. Now we have to take it back again for the same problem. I am wondering how can you have the same problem when they told me that they put in a new transmission. I have to take my SUV. back tomorrow at 8am lets see how long this is going to take because they caim they are going to have a specialist tomorrow. When you have spend $2,500 for service you expected that good service.
Spencer provided me with an accurate diagnostic and completed the service in a time fashion. We will continue to use the Michigan Road location for our vehicle needs.
Shady business going on!
The people at Edwards take great pride at providing outstanding service and vehicle care!
I found them to be honest, they ran tests and explained the results and then offered solutions without any hard sell tactics. I will use them again as needed. Thanks
Best service ever!! Brian, is a professional and so are all the mechanics..
They did an excellent job with my sons car and were very informative with every question I asked!
Amazing service extremely helpful staff.
Went to dealer got a quote it wasveryhigh wentto Edwardsandthey fixed it for cheaper. No more griding.
I appreciated Mike taking the time to go through everything step by step, I do a little light mechanic work myself but I dont work on transmissions so it was cool that he explained to me how it was being repaired.
Pretty quick service they were nice enough to get me a ride home since i had to leave my car
I would highly advise against going there from our experience. We took my girlfriends 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor to this location for a water leak. They did fix the water leak but now it doesnt start for 30 mins after every time it is driven. This is something that NEVER happened prior to them having it. When we picked it up they had to come tow it back 30 mins later because it wouldnt start. They looked at it, basically said they couldnt find the issue and we were out of luck unless we wanted to pay more for diagnostics. We called the G.M. Mike and he said hed take a look at another location. Again... Nothing. $800 for a pipe and another problem. Awesome........Well, since apparently they get the last word and you cant respond maybe we should also mention the pipe that was replaced seems to have been taken off, new seals put in, and put back on. So why charge for a new pipe? Also... Yes, the leak was fixed. The car worked for 30 whole minutes. Kudos. I hope everyone notices that Edwards never take any responsibility. They always have excuses. I truely hope people take that in to account. There are plenty of capable mechanics out there. Onviously they seek better employment opportunities that this guy has to offer. On a side note. The person responding is Mike general manager not the owner. That kinda says it all.Update: We took this vehicle to an actual mechanic who diagnosed and fixed the problem that Edwards caused in under an hour after they couldnt figure out what they did in about 2 weeks and 3 visits. When they did the reassembly after taking it apart to change the water inlet pipe they forgot to mount the crank shaft sensor back in place. Once this was put back in place the problem went away. Im sure if you ask the GM he would tell you that was our fault for not being there to babysit his guys while they were trying to do their job.
Took my Santa Fe in for what I thought was transaxle failure. Turns out emergency brake blew up. They got the parts, fixed the problem and helped out every way they could. Would recomend and use them again should need ever arise.
Very polite and honest manager, thanks Spencer for all the help.
Will never take my car there again their service sucks they are overpriced and when you ask him to call you back about my vehicle never did horrible service
Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it!
Great Service
Did a great job on my company vehicle
I would recommend this business.
HOW DO YOU PAY $1700.00, FOR A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND IT GOES BAD, OUT OF 2ND GEAR, EVERY 60-90 DAYS 🤬🤬🤬
I got a quote for almost $2000 to replace my ECU (the cars brain) when I took my car to Edwards. I pulled an ECU from an exact make/model donor car to test their diagnosis. Needless to say, the problem ended up being a $75 fuel pump. Either they have no idea what theyre doing, or they are trying to scam you. Either way - DONT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE.
Very impressed with the work, in and out in no time at all!
Terrible experience and will never go back or reccomend to anyone. Took weeks longer than told, cost more for a used tranny than others charge for a new rebuilt. Called for main office and left several messages but no return calls. Everything they tell you changes after your tranny is out of the car. Really hate to even give them one star.
Very nice and informative on my vehicles needs
Best auto repair shop in the city
They replaced my rear axle traction control on my 1999 Pontiac Firebird two years ago the replacement only lasted 25,000 miles my car is broke down and I need another rear axle. I paid Edwards Transmission 1200 dollars to replace the rear axle
Great place I recommend to anyone
They have GREATT service and treated us VERY well.
Guy said they put in electrical but my receipt doesnt show it
I called to ask about a repair. I was asked my name and number and would be called back. Still havent received a call.
Didnt get the truck fixed yet but they were super firendly and helped me as much as they could
Dont ever have these people rebuild your transmission. Barely even 9 months old and the transmission is acting up again. $2600 for them to rebuild our transmission. We even told them there was a noise that we both heard after they rebuilt it and they wouldnt do anything about it.
They made sure to get my vehicle in right away for me and had some answers for me by that afternoon
Great experience!
Brought my plow truck in last minute and they knew I needed it right away so they squeezed me in and got me up and running, cant thank you guys enough!
They gave me an unbelievable price to repair my transmission, the dealership wanted like five grand!
Was ok
