As an adult patient, I may have to deal with many aspects of differing mental illness. The fact that my ENTIRE stay was wrought with an onslaught of drilling, sawing, banging, and various other LOUD noises made my treatment less than zero. I have NEVER received such, I dont care attitudes from the staff concerning the intrusion of making rooms ready for more money, Oops... I mean patients. DO MUCH BETTER! YOU OWE IT TO YOUR PATIENTS AT THE VERY LEAST!!!!
Sun Behavioral really helped me a lot. The staff was genuine and very helpful. They also where very respectful to boundaries. I was there a couple years back, and honestly i was very happy and have been happy since. I recommend this place to anyone that needs/wants help. Very safe and warming. Its almost like a second home that is making you better and better, nit just by the treatment but the relationships you make with the staff and other people
The doctors and auxiliary staff at Sun Behavioral Houston really care about the patients. The womens unit had meaningful group therapy sessions in which everyone had a chance to share. I would definitely recommend Sun for someone needing psychiatric care. The food could be better but they are cooking for kids as well as adults.
This place is unacceptable.I took my IDD son there for help and they gave an inadequate assessment recommending sleep.Had psychiatrist call and tried getting him help and the turned him away again. So much for trying to get help from them. Some people are fortunate and good for them but others who are in a crisis need they are atrocious facility.
Unfortunately my daughter stayed here and I would not recommend them. It is impossible to get answers, talk with a doctor about progress or a plan. My daughter left covered in bruises. They truly only care about money.
If i could give no stars I would . When I tell u read the reviews before u go places. My daughter was in their for about a week intake was horrible I was in their for almost 5 hours. I hadn’t gotten a phone call from the doctor I had been calling everyday and sometimes they wouldn’t even answer the phone or doctor be gone he finally calls on the 4th day. The communication is horrible their on down to professionalism when she did call me she only could talk for like 7 mins. my daughter had a discharge today for 1:00 I’m waiting over 30 minutes they want u to be on time but they not this place is a joke
I went for a week, and it was the worst expirence of my life. i arrived at the facility at 3pm and didnt get checked in till 1am. i wasnt given food the whole day, and when they drew my blood at 5am the next day, i had a seizure. my parents were not alerted about the seizure, in fact, they didnt know till i told them once i got out. my psychiatrist told me to my face that i was faking, and there just to be with friends (i was admitted against my will). We got punished for no reason, and they often forgot to release kids from room time. two patients were left in their room for five hours, missing lunch, because the staff forgot about them. when my roommate told the staff that the medication he was being given made his hallucinations worse, they simply upped the dosage. they refused to give me my birth control for 5 out of the 7 days i was there, only giving it to me after i asked six times. i absolutely do not recommend going.
I just spoke with my daughter. I wasnt aware that theyd take blood work everyday. That they hit children. As we were talking, there was a kid cried, he or she was being dragged out of the room. My daughter didnt see that the other kids was doing anything wrong. The people that are there are supposed to help, but all they care about is getting paid. She heard the staff talking about getting paid. I want to take her out, but theyve threatened me of calling CPS on me, if I were to take her out. My child is miserable in that place. What can i do? I dont hit my child, so WHY should someone else should???
My young son went to Sun Behavioral for 3 days. He wasnt given meds that I brought in during intake. I was threatened by intake that CPS would be called if I challenged their assessment of my son. My son came home with bruises on his arms, scratches on his neck, and half of his back swollen. My son is now having nightmares. I wouldnt send my worst enemy to Sun Behavioral. This place caused more harm to my son and my family.
They made me pay money in order to release my daughter, even that she was already 18 years old. They dont care about the patients, they only want your money. So disappointed.
Horrible facility with even worse billing. A family member was at the facility in March 2020. We were unable to visit them due to Covid which we understood. The only update that we received by phone was to ask for money. We received zero feedback on treatment given and recommendations. The family member did not benefit in anyway from the stay. To top off this awful experience we received a large bill about two months after the family member was released. We went on a payment plan and when we had one payment left $200.00 was added to the bill, the bill was transferred to a third party who cannot help me with explaining why the bill is so high and no one at Sun Behavioral can explain why the bill was increased. Absolutely terrible place. Avoid at all cost.
My brother has been in for almost 7 days and weve had absolutely no communication about billing or a doctors evaluation. The only professional system they have is you can visit with the patients via Zoom with a therapist, but even then that therapist has nothing to do with the patient themselves so they dont know anything about the patient. Thankfully a nurse provided a list of medications thats on file for my brother and we can actually talk to him on the phone, but other than that as a caregiver I know absolutely NOTHING. Nothing regarding an insurance claim, nothing about when he will be released apart from doctors orders, the discharge plan was started 5 days into his stay instead of the FIRST day, and Everytime I bloody call the office for the bill it goes straight to voicemail! I dont think anyone in that office is actually WORKING there! How could I call two days in a row, leave voice messages for THREE (3) different people and still hear NOTHING about how much his stay is going to cost prior to discharge?! I dont care if someone was involuntarily sent in, as a family member covering the potential cost we should be obligated to know at least within 48 hours some type of update on their condition and the cost. We shouldnt have to call every 10 hours everyday begging for someone that actually SEES my brother to provide us with some sort of information. I dont see how this place has been operating for as long as it has, because it is poorly structured and ran by money hungry people.
I left out of the Hospital yesterday. It was overall a Alright place for your mental health . The nurses didn’t really help though, and there is too much room time which being alone can be someone trigger. The food wasn’t that bad. They should do more activities for the patient instead of Just Coloring, going Outside, and to the gym all the time . It somewhat helped me with my mental state though .
I went there on my own free will seeking help and received nothing but mo trouble, didnt get no meds and called to gettem along with a preauthorize to go to another place so i could get the proper treatment and its like i was asking them to pay for it cause still rigth to dis day nothing!!! And they had nerves to call cps on me after confiding in them..WAT A BS HOSPITAL..I WOULDNT RECOMMENDED NO ONE THERE..HATE I WENT
Overall I feel my son was taking care of. I wish the physician would call more often with updates, one nurse issue and discharge could have been handled better but my son is home in good spirits. We has Cliff who was my sons one on one who was wonderful. He went above and beyond to help my son feel comfortable and called me with updates that made me feel more comfortable with his stay there.
Very unprofessional!!! Rude staff.. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!
If I can give 0 stars I would. This place is very unprofessional and impoliteI’ve called more than 10 times and each time they answer me they hang up with a negative attitude. This are the people that are “treating” our family members, if they’re this unprofessional with me I couldn’t imagine the how they’re treating there patients.
Do not send your child to this facility. The staff is rude, communication is terrible. On top of that they have not returned my daughters jewelry when she checked out. Ive reported them to Tricare. My daughter is writing a letter to the Tricare board as well to remove these people from serving future military personnel.
My dad went there and his appendix ruptured while he was there and they didn’t get him help all they did was dope him up on pain pills. it almost killed him. Then on top of all that the staff didn’t want to release his personal property to him (still fighting to get that from them) and told him on the way to the ER “you’re gonna come back here”.DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY HERE!!!!!
Extremely unprofessional and ill prepared. Incompetent staff places troubled patients in harms way due to glaring inadequacies. State and federal authorities need to intervene.
I was there for 10 days. I didn’t like being arrested for mental health. After a while, I got used to being there. The cafeteria food was the awesomeness of being there. It was comforting food. I now am waiting for my medicine to take. BLUEBERRIES
Terrible place, no communication with parents or legal guardians. I believe she came out worse than when she went in. Her discharge list of drugs was unbelievable
My son was referred by his psychologist so I took the chance as a mother and got my son the help he needed. If you are a walk in be prepared to wait for at least 5 hours with food. I am very disappointed in the Dr who never returned my phone calls or even called me concerning my son. I did a family meeting with the therapist and he answers some of my questions. Upon discharged my son left a lot of his clothes and personal hygiene he came back home with barely anything. I have called serval time and still no phone call back. They need to get more organized and a better approach to the children and parents who are first timers.
My father is staying here for a little while for his dementia, and was dropped off yesterday. NO ONE has updated my mother on how he is adjusting, and no one has made an effort to call us. The front desk lady my mother spoke to was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful. She made my mom feel like an inconvenience when my mom was asking about my father. Overall this place is ridiculous.
I am a previous employee. The benefits of working at Sun was GROWTH within the company. Sun believed in recognizing HARD work, effective communication and service excellence. While working at Sun, I was promoted a number of times. I also had the privilege of being a part of the daily treatment team. Leadership was AMAZING including HR and Patient Advocate. Sun pays well and gives random gifts, gift cards etc. Sun was a GREAT place to be a part of lives better. I give 4 stars because theres always room for growth. As a TEAM, Sun knows what it will take to be 5 stars. As far as customer service, Sun have SOME passionate employees whom builds great rapport with consumers, operating with clients as if theyre family meeting unsolved needs. Lead tech specialist Teresa P, Danielle and Laura, Caroline (adolescent therapist) just to name a few. These employees helped clients to be able to use coping skills doing challenging times. Sun is a good place to entrust with your love ones. The doctors actually LISTENS and (individually) specialized in care. Dr. Chai was OUTSTANDING.Thanks for the opportunity.
I was admitted October 11th 2019 for self harm and suicidal ideations. At first i was nervous because of horror stories ive heard about psychiatric/behavioral hospitals but this was amazing! The nurses and techs are so sweet, the therapists and psychiatrists are so helpful, and you truly feel safe and understood here. I made so many life-long friends here.Shoutout to Ms. Kat! She is the sweetest woman. She acts as a mom for the girls.Thank you SUN!
Our mother was here for about 4 weeks and NOT ONCE could we get a doctor to return our call so we could get and understand her diagnosis or prepare for proper aftercare. I even went to wait in the lobby for hours telling them I wouldnt leave until I could speak with her doctor and still no one would help us.
Being diagnosed with P.T.S.D., depression and bipolar i did not get my medication for about a whole day. When i did finally received it it took 2-3 days to get it right. The techs blast their own horrible music during group sessions and you cant hear yourself think to express what is going on in your head. The techs act like its a place for them to hang out more than to administer help. The DR. asked me the same 5 questions everyday. I dont know how he came to the conclusion what medications to administer. Another patient in my ward went violently out of control 4 TIMES, the staff did nothing to remedy the situation or remove him. It took the last time when he threatened to beat every ones face in that they sedated him. One poor girl was so terrified she was crying and scared. If this company was genuinely was concerned for it patients safety and well being the violent person would have been removed or sedated a lot earlier. I left feeling as though nothing had been accomplished. All we did in group was fill out work sheets. There was a couple good therapists that cared. But that is it. I was there exactly as long as my insurance would pay for. Others with different insurance was there as long as their plan provided. There was some that didnt need to be there at all but was there for profit generating for SUN. This was even acknowledged as such by the staff. It is a for profit business!!! NEVER WILL I RETURN.
The staff here were kind, helpful, compassionate, and true healers. The place is kept immaculately clean, and the food was surprisingly good. The Doctor was sensitive to my needs; everything she told me was true (one step at a time and patience) and I feel better than I have in many years. I haven’t had any kind of self esteem for years, and I’m feeling like I have value now. I could go on and on, the bottom line is that if you or a family member needs help this is the place to go. I love everyone here who helped me. They saved my life and I am looking forward to the future.
They literally make me wanna kms
I went there abt a year ago the food was really good but my parents didn’t like me being there n would make me say I was fine so I didn’t really get to vent on how I did feel n It was pretty cool the staff were fun n I had sum issues but nothing to serious but I believe I didn’t get the help that I needed n I now feel worse
The nurses will sit and watch a patient have panic attack and DO NOTHING. This is a PRIVATE hospital, they pack their hospital full of patients and they rotate them through very quickly, the second your insurance is up your kicked out. There’s no organization or communication between therapists and psychologists. They make mistakes with the medicine they give out. Do not go here!!!
I was a patient there and... there was no soap. ever. i couldnt wash my hands, even when i asked for soap they never had any. due to my OCD this kinda made me go crazy. very bad hygiene. while i was there a girl kissed me and someone grabbed me inappropriately. it was very hard to sleep and i was kicked out of my room several times because a new patient would come in and their room would be blocked which usually means theyre either gay or transgender. the first two days were really good but by the time i left i hated it, but in a way thats good, i dont wanna go back and i think it worked for me but really its just the hygiene for me.
Horrible place staff is very unprofessional, uneducated and rude I will not use the service of this facility again definitely did not help my son at all..
Did not help me at all, dont put your teenager here
DO NOT go to this hospital... apparently they make medical decisions based off of people’s insurance. My mother was discharged recently and had to go back into the hospital the next day due to being delusional and violent. I told all the people I could that my mother was not in the right state of mind but they didn’t budge. I later found out from her case manager that the real reason she was discharged is because of the type of insurance she has. Here’s a tip for the administration department, if there is a certain kind of Insurance that limits patient care in your particular facility DONT accept patients just to accrue what u can from the Insurance !
They helped my child while she was there but we took thinks to her like books, coloring and word search books along with toiletries and she never received most of it. Then when she was released I was not given back all of her clothes or items I had brought to her. She also got hurt and no one did anything about it. So we have a broken wrist. Will not use this place again.
No doctor, psychiatrist nor psychologist, at the facility. If you or your loved one have special dietary needs, forget getting those needs met. If youre looking for a place to be at without care which will actually help you get better, then look no further. This is a place where suicide-attempt survivors are told that what their actions are sins. How is that supposed to help someone who is clearly in need? Multiple research studies have shown that patients do better when spending time in nature. The beautiful patio at SUN is only for children and the one for adults is full of smokers. How is this helpful!? Our loved one was released early, without the proper treatment. She also wasnt given her medication when she arrived and had to wait more than 24 hrs, which anyone who knows anything about bipolar 1 disorder will tell you, is a horrible thing. Nurses and aids shouldnt tell patients who are there for treatment that they are sinful. Who are they to judge people who have mental illnesses?
I recently came to SUN Behavioral to see a client. I came in late at night and was very surprised that this facility does not have a a receptionist in the front lobby during night hours. I happened to walk in when another employee walked out. I stood in the lobby for a second when another employee came out of a back area to help me. There were several people coming into the hospital from the Emergency room it seemed like and another person came in with a police officer. The young lady working in the back tried her best to help me as well as the other individuals that were coming into the hospital. I told her I felt sorry for her and asked her where the receptionist was. She informed me that this facility does not have a receptionist at night time and that the Intake Department helps customers when they come into the facility after a certain hour. She then helped me and I was able to see my client. I go to several hospitals on a weekly basis and I just cant understand why this hospital would not have a receptionist at night. 1 star rating is for the lack of customer service in a billion dollar company. Thank you to the staff who went out of the way to help me when they were very busy. Advice: If you have anything important to take care of at this facility, do it during the day when there is a receptionist.
I was taken here by CIT, aka the Gestapo. This place is a nothing more than a modern day concentration camp. There is no healing happening here, just sedation. I felt like a lab rat with the medicine they forced into my body through fear and violence. I treat my dog better than the way the staff treated the patients. Its dangerous, I was attacked by another patient. I could hardly understand the Swahili male staff. They arent even citizens, they are here on work visas from the Sudan. They are violent, controlling and told me they just wanted the insurance money. They definitely dont care about the patients, they only care about their power and the money. Terrorists! Shut this hell hole down.
Whats the WiFi passwordTo sun behaviouralHouston
Expensive, loud you cant get a good nights sleep in here. people who are genuinely scary and they dont do anything about it. shove medicine down ur throat 24/7 . doctors here dont know what they are doing at all. i had them tape regular tape all around my arm on a wound i have and ripped all my arm hair out
Great experience! Just left this facility and spent a week inpatient... The staff was amazing, the Dr was great and caring... By far the best mental health facility in Houston! Definitely will be recommending this facility to others! From intake to discharge things went smoothly! Thank you Sun Behavioral for giving me my life back!
I did the outpatient teen program last year .•would not recommend sending your kids into the provided vans, many of the other kids do inapropriate things back there•you see many different therapist so you have to tell your story over and over again which was highly anoying•its like a group theraphy situation,so you must be conftable venting in front of other kids•while I was there one the male patients in the outpatient program would say very inapropriate things to me•be aware of being in dress code, I didnt know we had a dress code until ofcourse I got drescoded lol•I was released the day off when I told my therapist I trew away all my antidepressants, never got a refill back till this day•I never really got told what my diagnostics really were still have no idea, but did a good job explaining medications•food was sooo good
I am an RN and have worked in mental health for over 10 years. This is the BEST facility! Very team-oriented, supervisors and administrators are readily available to assist, and staffing is great! I feel safe working here and have the resources to provide excellent patient care. Patients are a priority here and it shows.
I dropped off clothing for my son twice. Both times I was greeted with great customer service by the staff.
This establishment was great to our family while my sister was there. The site was very clean no matter what time of day, staff was amazing and very informative they answered all of our questions called with any updates and followed up when she was discharged. Hands down the best facility weve been to yet! I would recommend to anyone in need of their services!!!
I enjoyed the recent Video Workshop on Tele-counseling. Thank you for the help!
Ive been to many mental health hospitals and I was taken to Sun. Omg they are the most caring and dont worry about how long your insurance will allow.. nope they dont care if u need more time thats all that matters to them. Told me if I didnt feel comfortable after I was released to come rite back... Guess what 3 weeks later I went back... Thank u so much and if I need help again IAM only going to Sun...
Although it is not ideal to utilize a facility like this, they made the transition seamless. The doctors and staff we’re knowledgeable and kind. I was always aware of what was going on and I felt confident with their abilities. Awesome place to visit for your needs.
I visit this facility when my grandmother was admitted. I remember on my first visit I had questions and the woman at the front desk was so kind and patient to my needs. In addition, the personnel in admissions that assisted me with getting my grandmother into the facility were extremely professional! When you are dealing with the stress of trusting someone with your loved one it can be overwhelming however, the staff at Sun Houston went above and beyond and I am so grateful. Thank you Sun Houston!!!
I came here two years ago. 4 times to be exact and outpatient twice. This was the best place. I was at a very troubled time in my life which is why I keptComing back I got to be in the adolescents and women’s unit. The staff was incredibly friend, I truly felt cared for and understood. Thank you for having such wonderful staff I bet most of them might not be there but workers such as Ms.Alike, Ms.Chanel, Ms.Cynthia & Ms.Bre all techs except Ms.Chanel they all really helped me.
This is a really good place. I have had great experience here. The managment was real good to me. Staff very friendly on the second floor.
First impression are not always correct. But, after speaking with Ms. Haynes regarding my concerns, she walk me through the process and a tour of the facilities. You as the parent, it is your job to keep the lines of communications open with the admin staff, nurses and doctors, if you do, things will go smoothly. My child age (14), learn how to manage her anxiety with out the use of drugs. She is now showing more confidence and her grades have jump up. With the open lines of communication with all team members, my 14 year old has come out a stronger person. Plus, with her after care program as well. Remember, it is your job as the parent to grow a productive person into society. When you need help, ask for it! It takes a village!Thank you Sun Behavioral Center for helping our family!
Our daughter was taken to Sun Behavioral Houston one week ago and my husband and I are so pleased with the treatment she was given during her stay. She came home with a positive attitude and trying harder than we have seen her try in years. Thank you and your staff from the bottom of my heart. God is good.
WOW! Is the one word and can use to describe SUN! The staff and admin are great. My son spent 2 weeks and he was treated with the best care and follow up. He is doing so well after learning many new skills to cope with his mental issues.
I was referred to SUN by my primary care physician due to depression and mood swings. The program was wonderful, the staff caring and professional. Working with patients with mental health issues has to be stressful but everyone I interfaced with was calm, caring, and thoughtful. I appreciated thatI did not just get meds to make me feel better but worked with therapists to address the issues I was having and ways to cope day to day. I am happy to say I am a thousand times better and I attribute that directly to my care at SUN. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is seeking treatment..
Some of the therapists are good. A lot of them are not. And everyday when you go to the program there’s a different therapist so you have to tell your story ALL over again. But this we learned to live with. What is really awful, is the fact that they never complete your paperwork on time which causes your disability insurance to not be able to pay your benefits. This has happened time and time again, you call and call and call and no one answers. This can make an already difficult situation worse. The administrative portion of Sun Behavioral are not reliable.
Tonya is so wonderful, kind and helpful.
I just took my daughter there and they wouldnt accept her saying i have to get a document from Harris county. The lady saw how my daughter was behaving and quickly dismissed us! This is how people slip thru the cracks! Shut this place down, or get staff that actually cares. You never know when you will be in the same situation and you will need help too!
I would recommend anyone that has a need for Mental Health to Contact Sun Clinic they are very compassionate with the needs of the family and their client I was really needing to hear my daughters voice just to let her know she was Loved and had her families support .When I called the Nurse assured me that they were doing everything for her and us and she made it possible for me to talk to her .I know I called too often but they were professional each time All I can see is they are there to help your love one get back to Normal I thank them truly with my whole heart I feel like they care about their Patients
DO. NOT. GO. HERE. They didn’t even have anything for nausea. All I got from my stay here was a nicotine addiction. It took 3 whole days for them to get my medications straight, so I was suffering from withdrawals from my medications and almost passed out on numerous occasions. Some patients are not in the correct unit. It is not safe here.
Professional. Well done. Good information.
Our son was admitted to Sun Behavioral for nine days, where he received his initial, onset diagnosis. Needless to say, this was both an emotionally devastating and terrifying experience, as our first foray into the world of mental illness. The alarming communication break down at this facility insures that we will never again trust Sun. Despite signed medical consent to communicate with the family and constant communication on our part with the facility, Dr. Michael Barber unexpectedly discharged our 19 year old, from the Psychiatric ICU with absolutely no notification. While placing a routine call to check on my son, the charge nurse informed me that hed been placed in a cab and sent on his way, though they couldnt even tell me where the cab was going. He eventually made it home with a paper sack of belongings, clutching a single discharge sheet. No follow up instructions. No prescriptions. As he was no where near stable, the last six weeks have been absolute hell. I cant even fathom how this place stays in business. If a zero star review was an option, its the one Id choose. Thank you, Sun Behavioral, for taking an absolute nightmarish situation and making it infinitely worse.
Admitted myself recently and I can say very firmly some of the staff just do not care about you or your personal safety. I had another patient come up to me in intake making sexual comments and I had to be put in another room. One of the staff members left us outside in the rain during a smoke break because she didnt want Her hair to get wet, learning about coping skills was a joke all you do is work sheets here and sit around and wait for the doctor to come. Do not send your kids and or yourself here.
The staff at Sun Behavioral works hard to ensure the safety and the wellness of its patients. Their programs for children, teenagers and adults are comprehensive. I would recommend Sun Behavioral to anyone.
I was an inpatient here to help me cope with the loss of my granddaughters. The staff was patient, kind and giving of themselves and their time. Even when a patient got unruly and violent, the staff would treat them with respect and kindness. Its never easy to go through times like these, but if you have a place like this, you can gain your perspective back and get back into life. THANK YOU SUN
I would give 10 stars if I could. This place has helped me 100 times more than the other 3 hospitals Ive stayed in. The staff wants the patients to be successful and have a normal life! Thank you Sun!!
I dont have any problems or issue here i might be going back soon
Dont recommend it, this place is keeping my loved one for so long, against his will theres no communication with family members, Im not able to see my son due to covid19 hes been there for 10 days already I dont know whats going on, my son said they havent tell him anythingI have a signed information release form from him but nobody had call me back after several voice messages, very rude staff, very very rude, its so frustrating, is like they dont care about this people with mental issues this place is like jail or even worse really bad experience 😡😡
I had the chance to work with the management team here on a professional level and I was very impressed. The team was extremely professional, clinically sound, and extremely caring. I personally would not hesitate to send one of my loved ones here.
This was just what we were looking for our family friend, lots of sun light, spacious interior, a gym and outdoor space so it never looked like a restricted home. Poor guy had been to some many others in the area with little to no results. Here they provided him with a routine and a steady dose of therapy mix with the kind of schedule he needed to get back on the right path. He loved the food and couldn’t say enough good things about his therapists. He’s currently in the outpatient program which is helping him stay on track and build a stronger daily routine that’s helping him stay positive and focused. Of course, none of this would be possible without an even stronger family support. He’s to embarrassed to do this himself so I’m happy to help spread the good word of Sun on his behalf!
We had a very good experience with a family member. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, even under stressful conditions in the facility. It can be chaotic in the lobby, but that is no different than an ER and situations were quickly and quietly diffused.
SUN has been a great place to work. The staff works hard caring for our patients.
I really enjoyed visiting at the site, it was clean and the staff was awesome. They are really doing a great job with the patients. I highly recommend Sun Behavioral Hospital.
Me and my mother came to see a doctor-walk in and walk out. I was ADMITTED and couldnt do anything about that for 10 days!and since they said I couldnt refuse medication I have to deal withside effects such as increased depression, vision problems, over active salivary glands and ETC. this is hospital is absolutely not the place to gotry west oaks or something.
Ive never felt so traumatized or degraded. I was sent by utmb after needing anti depressant till i could see my pcp after holuday. When i gave up,i left. Police came and took me there by force. Though i was compliant, polite assuming a mistake. I will b contacting hospital administrator, or my attorney will. Just an example, lunch upset stomach. I asked for pepto, but was denied unless they could examine my stool. I was situationally depressed, no issue with this . Humiliating, degrading, housed with violent patients though i did nothing ever illegal. Do Not Go There. I was held 10 days against my will.
There is no communication between staff and family members it takes threatening AMA before they actually release them they do nothing on the schedule that they give the family members upon intake they have the kids sit in front of a tv all day and there’s no hot water nor water pressure
I was there for 7 days and at first i was scared but it got better
A friend of mine was at your facility recently and she told me it was a great experience for her....she said the therapist was understanding and attentive and couldnt have asked for more from the staff....If anyone is ever in need of a facility such as yours we will both gladly recommend Sun Behavioral..Thank you so much for helping my good friend.
My friend was at SUN, she had been in several others hospitals in Houston. SUN did a great job with my friend, she truly wants to continue her treatment and continues to take her meds. She has a positive outlook on life. Thanks SUN
If I could give this place negative stars I would. Tried to refer a friend. However, she had Medicaid and was bumped down the list for days, for patients with commercial insurance. A person named Tobey, thought it was funny and laughingly hung up on me. I referred the patient to another hospital, where she received great care.Avoid this place.
The staff and doctors were kind, caring, and compassionate. No smoking facility but the MD will give you nicotine patches.Best hospital experience in years. I was there 9 days and when I walked out I was not nearly the person I was when I walked in.Cant say enough good things about the experience.
I have been inpatient here five times for substance abuse. I was last here 11-20-2005. The doctors & all supporting staff is very caring, compassionate, & knowledgeable about my substance abuse & mental issues. I owe much of my 13 years of continued sobriety & mental stability to Sun Behavioral & Dr. Parikh.
I am an ex employee and I felt like it was a great learning experience. The staff was like family to me .Since leaving ther I havent connected with employees like that . You guys keep up the good work keep loving on every one like you do. This is not an easy job but we make it easy because we do what we do from our heart. This is Raquel Malveaux you guys rock .
My name is Aidan Brackett patient number 9013 safe class, i was recently admitted to this facility for suicide attempt. i believe that this facility is not right for your child if they are suffering from anxiety and depression. The staff members constantly picked jokes at the patients that could really easily trigger someone suffering from severe anxiety/depression. overall the care was okay, mediocre at best. i believe the staff should be more restricted and more experienced with mental health fields. they also wouldnt let me have my jacket which made no sense.
My brother was sent there from the hospital. He had clothes and shoes. They sent him out of the place without none of his belongings. He got on the bus with no shoes and looked a nervous wreck. He recked as if he didnt bath for days. I dont know what kind of facility this but it really dont make since the things that is going on. I called to find out where is his things and no one act if they know anything. The management is also just as bad.😟😟
The staff at Sun Behavioral Houston is professional and genuinely interested in the wellness of its patients. I would refer anyone to this hospital without hesitation.
My brother has been going to their all-day outpatient program. Hes been getting more out of this program than any other program that hes been in before. Our family can actually see a difference in him. Thank you to the staff at Sun for helping my brother.
This facility was very disorganized. I went for visitation and was able to walk back and interact with the patients WITHOUT signing in. Basically anyone could have walked in there, the security was non existent. Also, my adolescent daughter was able to have access to a phone somehow and was calling people who were not helpful to her treatment. Shes been hospitalized before and at no point should they have access to a phone and be able to call anyone they want. This happened twice, even after I called to complain. The techs were not doing their jobs properly. I was told I would be contacted by the clinical director about this issue but have not received a phone call. The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is I was very impressed with the doctor she saw while in the hospital and my daughter enjoyed the food while there. Everything else was sub-par. She will never go back there.
I spent about a week in inpatient, i have to say their inpatient program is much better than their out patient. Doctors werent around as much as needed, but still there. Teks were kind and motherly to us. Outpatient care there is not recommended. Difficult to work with staff
Ems took my gf here. Her experiance was, group session didnt happen, UNLESS the social worker was on the unit. Staff laughed and mimic the patients. She said, if she refused to take the medication, rhey would not allow her tp use the phone to call home. She did not feel safe on the medications that was given to her, she said they would make her not be able to move, she was cold, and having chest pains, and could not move or talk for a very long time. This happened many times according to my family member. The medication they tested on her made her shiver and kept her in a comatose state, even after her family notifed all staff of what medications she takes to treat her schezuophrenia. She relapsed and artived on a friday and they let her sit there in this state over the weekend, they did not get contact her psych dr untill 13 days later, however her current Dr contact information was given the very first day she arrived and was given over many times to the staff. Communication with staff to staff is zero. Somehow the important information needed to save your family falls to the way side. It was a communication battle everyday, no joke guys, everyday to get her seroquel, seizure medication. And even after they spoke to her psych dr, the sun dr decided to change her medication, knowing she had been on a regimen of her current medications for over 7 yrs. These new medications or change in it, made her cold, shiver, lay in a comatose state, she developed an ulcer soon after. She was discharged to early but i am so grateful they let her out, she literally came out worse and traumatized. Couple days later i drove her to.Cypress Creek, and let me tell you. BEST DECISION! The intake process was timely but trust me, you will want to wait. The staff on the unit was friendly, and group session was everyday, they cared for her. They gave her medication for her ulcer, and helped her with her anxiety, and her schizophrenia. She was there for over 1 week and she came out so much better. Her speech was better, her look was healthy, she did not look dazed or zombie like as she did when they discharged her from sun behavioral. I kid you not, take your family to cypress creek hospital. The staff cares! If i had any issues mentally with myself, this would be the facility i would take my self to. Mental health is nothing to play with, people are not numbers to fill your beds and drug up and shoot out your facility, and wait till the next patient to fill the bed. The best advice i can give you, if your looking for a safe place to send your family, sun behavior is not it, run. Get yourself some peace of mind and take your loved one to cypress creek, i promise you wont regret it.
The inpatient care is phenomenal. They definitely went above and beyond to make sure everything was in order, Im terms of FMLA paperwork. Thanks, Sun Behavioral.
I would give 0 stars if possible my son was assaulted by a staff member apparently the staff member was fired but my son was then released barefoot because during the altercation with he staff member his shoes disappeared and as a zombie on medication that lowered his BP that his outside psych immediately took him off of then I was told they couldnt care for my child because he is a liability. Your staff assaults my kid and hes a liability how does that work?? I thought this place was to help people but apparently not the dr even told me and I quote some kids just fall through the cracks a medical professional telling this to a parent is ridiculous. Do not send your child here.
Thank you so much for all of your help and support! My family and I greatly appreciate it!
Great place: friendly staff, clean, conveniently located, proven quality metrics, outcome driven. I would recommend.
Beware of this place!! My father was recently admitted to this hospital and almost died. He was hurt, the skin on his hand seemed to be ripped off and he was so heavily sedated he turned gray. They had to call 911, we had just arrived for a visit. Who knows what would of been done if we hadnt been there. The worse experience me and my family have ever been through. If you love and care for someone dont use this hospital.
My wife is 65 and was admitted into the geriatric unit at this center. Before our kids and I checked her into this hospital, she was so depressed that she wouldnt eat or get out of bed most of the time. After she was admitted, we saw her getting better everyday. Dr. Choupka was very patient and took her time with my wife. My wife stayed at this facility for just over a week and was given the right kind of medication to get her out of the depression. Our kids and I are amazed at the big difference a little bit of the right medication can make in a persons life. Thank you Sun Hospital.
This facility is amazing! I had a concern regarding my child’s clothing. I requested to speak with a patient advocate. Terssa immediately addressed my concerns and was able to locate my child’s clothing. THANK YOU TERSSA!!
Great staff and wonderful nurses. clean facility
