This is by far the best workout for me. Well rounded, changes daily, energizing and fun! The staff and coaches at the West University location are always helpful and attentive, which makes this a pleasant place to be. I always look forward to my workouts here, and have seen positive results in my weight and fitness level. Now I am running more, and the floor work is making my core stronger thanks to the coaches help and encouragement. Love it!
I really enjoy my Orange Theory classes at all Houston area studios. My home studio is West U but I also love the staff and coaches at Highland Village and Midtown. Come to Orange Theory if you want to challenge yourself, have a balanced workout and see results! Ive been coming for over a year and have lifted heavier, run faster and lost inches and pounds. I took a great class with Coach Drew this morning - it was a strength day with a small bit of rowing, some heavy lifting on the upper body, core and small hills on the treadmill.
I am a long time member and highly recommend for any fitness level. You will get stronger and build endurance. The heartrate monitors are fun and an added incentive to work harder. The coaches are great and motivating and the staff is always super friendly and helpful.
Great place! It offers a full body workout. The routines are changed up frequently, and they regularly have challenges and incentives. Love this place!
Great full body workout! The routine changes daily so it never gets boring. Coaching staff is very helpful.
Love it! Staff, coaches and facilities are great! Everyone is very friendly and helps with questions, concerns or modifications. Coaches are knowledgeable, have lots of positive energy and motivate me to work hard and get stronger.
All of it!! I love coming in and everyone is so friendly and welcoming but the classes motivate me to keep going back. My coaches motivate me to push myself harder than I knew posssible!
The absolute worst customer service. We signed up for our first class at 5am. We got to the facility at 4:30am as instructed, however Mark, the front desk employee, refused to open the door for us. When he finally unlocked the door at 4:50 he proceeded to tell us we arrived too late and would not be able to attend the class. He saw us arrive at 4:30 and even ignored me as I tried knocking on the door. Not sure why this location allows you to sign up for the earliest class if theyre going to ignore you when you get there. Mark had the absolute worst attitude.TLDR: go to any other location.
The West University Orangetheory location is really top-notch. Great facilities, great coaches, and the staff is extremely helpful and accommodating. The manager and assistant manager were very cooperative about my membership when I ended up staying in San Diego for 6 months during the pandemic — and very helpful about helping me sort things out after I returned. They also do a very good job with COVID safety and precautions. A great gym.
A fun and clean place to get a great workout in. The trainers and staff are all great!
Super friendly and motivating staff. Happy to start my fitness journey here. :)
The front desk customer service is awful, appalling. The sign up process to try out a class, not even become a member, is such a waste of time. They literally take all of your information, almost feels like they’re in the business of collecting data than helping people get in shape and achieve their goals. I wasted so much time trying to join the gym to be turned away because I didn’t complete a form, when I had asked if I could do it in person. I’m avoiding this place altogether, and highly recommend you find a gym that supports your development, appreciates your time and treats you with basic respect. There are many other places in Houston with great service and people!
Save your money and go some place else .Read all the reviewsMy coach was only focused on white people . They don’t care about poc. I tried to ask him questions about modifying my exercise but he completely ignored me . He was extremely impersonal and never bother to correct my form.Well … guess I’ll go where I am respected .
Coach Neema is the bomb! Great Monday morning workout.
Visited from Athens, GA. Plenty of room in the studio and they have the newer rowers with screens that track your progress! Good coach, was super nice to me even though me (the idiot) spilled water all over the tread. Would come back next time were here :)
My sister and I have been going to OTF on west u for two weeks now and I can honestly say we love the environment we love the energy they carry. Specially we love our coaches everyday we came out brand new. Highly recommend this place! Don’t miss out!!
Always effective. Friendly folks. Clean facility
Great support and EXCELLENT coaches! I feel motivated throughout my workouts! The coaches are very passionate to make you your best self and that really shows. Love this studio!
The variations in exercises is great. After 6 sessions (3/week) and trying different trainers/class leaders Ive decided which i prefer and what works with my schedule. I already feel stronger and cant wait to see my results in a month.
This location is the best I’ve been to so far! The front desk people really make or break the initial visit to any OTF location. The two girls were super friendly and energetic bright and early today. Everything was sparkling clean and everyone maintained 6 ft distance. Instructor was good and I could hear him clearly. Sometimes I’ve experienced bad head sets at other locations but this one seemed to have everything working. I like the TRX bands too! Definitely good location!
Very poor customer service and communication of their policies.
Great team! Coach Ida has the best playlists and has an incredible ability to motivate and inspire! They have taken every precaution during COVID times. I’ve been back since May, they make me feel safe and help me stay sane.
Great studio. Coach neema is great!
OTF has helped me take control of my fitness during COVID. Seen incredible progress within just a few months. Staff and coaches greet you by name and make you feel welcome no matter where you are in your fitness journey. Also the cleanest gym I’ve ever been in.
Ive been a member of OTF West U since May 2020, and Ive been very happy with the workouts - each workout is completely different and leaves a different part of your body sore. OTF West U additionally hosts fun challenges throughout the year - Hell Week, DriTri Original, DriTri Sprint, Catch Me if You Can, and these events are just fun ways to add to your fitness.I really like the commitment to members health and safety. Instructions on the correct pose are given right before the workout, and safety measures are reiterated during each class with no exceptions with regards to COVID-19 safety precautions. Physical safety is ensured because each coach takes the time to correct your posture or pose when youre not doing it right - which is the added benefit of having a coach around! I really like how encouraging the front desk is and accommodating for when you forgot your water bottle, how to assist you with getting a friend to come to their first class, etc. The coaches are amazing and get to know you as a person and what your fitness capabilities are, which makes the workouts so much more personalized.I will definitely be continuing with OTF for a long time, theyve really helped me get in shape and stay in shape which has improved my life tremendously! Thank you for all you do, OTF West U!
Favorite Orangetheory studio in Houston and I believe I’ve been to all of them! Coaches & staff here are both helpful & friendly! Definitely pay them a visit if you’re in the area!
Literally the best!! They are all so nice and helpful and I was in a pinch and couldn’t make my last class before my billing date so Chuck extended it for me so I didn’t lose my class! Just so sweet and helpful! They are just the nicest people! Plus the workouts are the best, I would never push my self in the gym on my own! Definitely a life long customer! 💕
I arrived exactly 30 minutes early and got a call that my first class would get rescheduled because I was late when I arrived 30 minutes early. I did not understand why they would not let me attend class when I was already there. Very unreasonable. I went to another location that did not turn me away for arriving 30 minutes early.
I am a potato. I hate going to the gym. I still do; however, my health was taking a toll due to my sedentary lifestyle and I decided to partake in some form of movement at least three times per week. Orangetheory is straight forward and provides me with guided workouts that keep me engaged. The hour goes by rather quickly and I do feel great after each workout. This location is clean and well managed. The parking is a bit tricky and it can be hard to schedule classes in the evening so schedule ahead. While I do think the prices are steep its expensive enough to keep me motivated to go so Im not missing out on something Im paying upwards $150 to be a part of. I do recommend.
Pretty cool concept, good workout for my 1st workout in about 2 months of being sedentary. I do plan on returning, like the fact the workouts arent the same daily and its super close to work!!
An invigorating full body workout I highly recommend trying out, the first class is free! The front staff are extremely helpful and kind. My coach was Ida Clay who is very encouraging, genuine and pushes you in a professional and helpful way! The workout is combination of treadmills, row machines and weights so it is the perfect trifecta to build strength and calories. The music and the orange lighting keep you fired up and excited!
Hard hitting HIIT workouts. lively music super encouraging instructors and if you stick with it you see a difference. the price is high end the results are undeniable
Love this place, they are always so kind and welcoming at the front and motivating in the gym! Favorite location by far!
As a former group exercise instructor who took a 2 year sabbatical I LOVE this workout!! Its always changing so you never do something long enough to say I cant do this anymore. The workouts have brought me back to have the energy and stamina that i used to have. I take Kristys class and i really like her coaching style.
I started doing OTF about 6 months ago because I needed a change in my routine. I love the classes. I struggledSo much with cardio before OTF, but now I actually enjoy it. The coaches are awesome and constantly check your form, and have alternative exercises if you have orthopedic issues (which I do). The front desk is super friendly whether it’s 5 am or 8 pm. I’m really happy that I found this community and would recommend to anyone!
I was visiting from another city, and these guys got me in the class I wanted super easy. Nice showers, and, of course great instructor. Ill be back here next time I am in Houston! Carlos at the front desk was very helpful too.
I am not sure why some people are posting customer service is poor, it is great! classes are easy to get in if you plan and they help you with anything you need to your goal including if you can not do a certain exercise. This place is great!! Nate is very motivational!
Absolutely love my workouts here! Even for a lazy couch potato like me, they really make it simple & exciting to work out. Im very data motivated, so heart rate tracking along with calories burned during the workout keeps me pushing. I couldnt find a workout that I looked forward to before Orangetheory, so grateful to have them!
Avoid at all costs if traveling from out of town and you can’t leave 30 extra minutes for travel at 4A. Google directions are off and if you arrive at 5:04 (Apple watch correct time), it will be 5:05 on the studio clock and they won’t let you work out.
Absolutely love, love, love OTF!!! West U is not my home gym, but it doesn’t matter because not matter if I’m working out at my home gym or somewhere else, like West U, the staff and coaches are still amazing, kind, and motivating. Orangetheory has truly been life saving and motivating to get me up and to every workout. I love the motivation and hype from the coaches every class. They really help you reach your goals and also help to modify exercises if you aren’t quite ready to perform certain strength exercises. I love the post workout reports that are sent and record so that I can use them as a motivator to increase my performance on the next workout. Definitely recommend OTF to all beginners, intermediate or advanced workout buffs as this place will change your life.
West U Location:I joined OTF at a different location that was seriously lacking an inviting and motivating atmosphere. I am so happy I found this location, it doesnt feel robotic and corporate! I love the fun and energetic atmosphere that all of the staff and coaches create; while still being very professional. I prefer their floor plan layout as it provides some separation from the treads/rowers and the strength floor. The facilites are always clean. Easy to find parking, even during full classes. My only constructive criticism/request is for more 3G classes to be available throughout the day instead of early morning only.OTF Workouts:The workouts are tough, but I appreciate the cardio and strength mix. I like that I do not have to think about incorporating additional strength training for legs, arms, abs, etc. Recently, I have been attending classes at least 4-6 days a week and find that you get a full body workout if you attend more than the 1-3 days I was going previously.Pro tip: Check out the Orangetheory thread on Reddit for previews of workouts and motivation from other classmates. This thread has been a game changer for me on days I dont want to go. I honestly get FOMO when a workout sounds fun and challenging (never thought I would say a workout circuit with running sounds fun, EVER)!
The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, Kyle’s playlist was new and fun, and the gym was laid out better than many OTs I’ve been to, plus, despite the humidity they were able to keep it cool (unlike some of their southern counterparts). I’ll definitely hit this OT again when I’m back in Houston!
Im giving OT a 3, although I would like to give more, but the mere fact that I pay for a membership that I cannot use is BEYOND me!! Who would choose such an option in this day and time, and, for that it makes me very turned off to them and the fact that they would be so obnoxious to think that theyre so good that people will pay for NOTHING! The coaches and staff are really great, and the workouts are awesome. BUT, until you change your concept where I can get what Ive paid for, Im going back to my old gym. At least I could depend on a work out every day of every week. Sad!
Close to my office which makes all the difference - probably my favorite place to do group classes because I can be super competitive and push myself or I can take it easy and do whatever my best is that day. I always leave looking sweaty and exhausted so I cant do it in the mornings - gotta go after work. Bonus is that the studio is freezing which makes all the difference in these summer months. I dont ever want to run outside from May thru September ever again.
I went to Orangetheory West University today for a free class and was turned away for being 7 minutes late to the introduction which started 30 minutes before the scheduled class. I tried to explain to the 6 people behind the desk that my little ones (3 month old and a 3 year old) made it a challenge to arrive on time but they did not care. They said if I was 5 minutes late they would have allowed me to participate but not 7. Two minutes!! The place was empty except for one man sitting by the door. The manager on duty did not even look up when speaking with me.Im a certified fitness instructor who has been teaching for over a decade and I have never felt so unwelcome. Trying to keep up with all the new fitness programs out there, I have been to many different studios for a free class. I have NEVER been turned away for being 23 minutes early to class nor shown such little understanding of unforeseen circumstances. If you are dying to try Orangetheory, try a different studio especially if you are a parent with young children.
Great workout - I am in and out in 1 hour with a better workout than I can get on my own. Motivational coaches keep you moving and burning calories. Seeing how hard you work with the heart monitor display pushes you to keep working.
Now that Julian no longer teaches at this location I cant find a coach I like. Please make sure to find coaches that play different genres of music. All thats played now is techno and oldies pop. Given that its in such a young location, there should be at least one coach that can play hip hop or current music.
Great experience, Front Staff are AWESOME!! Shout out to Cassie for taking me step by step. Reasonably priced and Trainers are very attentive.
Workout is great and the trainers are awesome; however, booking classes can be very difficult. You can only book classes for one pay period at a time and most evening and early morning classes are full the first two weeks out. If you can make it on to a waitlist then theres a good chance you will get in but you have to be able to check frequently for an opening. Classes do not roll over to the following month and any cancellations within 8 hours will be counted as a used class. The only time this has been very inconvenient is when Ive had to book a late class because thats all that was open only to see an earlier class open up later in the day. If you want to switch to an earlier class, the late class will be counted as a cancellation if its within 8 hours of the start time. If you purchase unlimited classes I believe there is a $28 fee for canceling. The workouts are intense but can be tailored to any fitness level. Music is usually really good and the trainers do a great job keeping everyone motivated and making sure you are doing the exercises properly.
I moved into the neighborhood and signed up to be contacted for my first class. I was called the next day (Sunday) and explained that I have a very busy work schedule and generally only have early mornings available. I was told that there was a class in 2 hours at 1:15 but otherwise the next time I could get a class over the next TWO WEEKS was Friday evening. They assured me that this would not be an issue once Im a full member. I figured I would go to the Sunday class at 1:15 and they recommended I get there 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork. At 12:40 I spoke with them to ask if they had space for one more for a friend of mine. She said yes and to come over so my friend and I walked over arriving at 12:52. They refused to let me participate in the class, since apparently the 30 minute cutoff was a hard requirement and not suggested as the person had indicated over the phone (or any doctors office for that matter). I was shocked. Congrats to Orange Theory for being so busy, that truly is a great accomplishment for a business, but if they are this absurdly unaccommodating it seems to be a tough place to work out...not to mention youd have to pay for 8 classes/month and I cant imagine that they even have that many openings.
The worst otf experience. I was a member of otf for 2 yrs until I moved to Houston. The management, and the front desk people have horrible customer service. The coaches are impersonal and offer no knowledge of proper form with running, lifting, or rowing. It’s all about making money at this location. I miss the triangle in Austin!!! Cancelling my membership bc of the poor customer service and poor quality all around. Very disappointed. Don’t bring new members here, sign up somewhere else less sales driven, find a location that is about creating a great experience and community- that is what otf is about! This location will ruin your experience!
The fitness idea itself and the trainers are great, but when it comes to any questions or concerns they ignore. For my situation: I cancelled my membership and got charged 3 times after my cancellation. I called them every time and explained the situation, but they did not care and tried to make excuse and charge even more charges (said they were one extra time I did drop-in) and extra $28 might get charged- which is not true! The application(mindbody itself) does not have any proof, and does not work most of the time. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to deal with months of inconvenience and attitude.
Terrible customer service, canceled my membership because I could not book anything other than the 9 pm class and I was in the unlimited plan. The studio is very small compared to others, I do like the program work out but until they figure out their booking issue or the amount of people they allow per studio this place is not with it !
Love that it forces me to do both strength and cardiovascular exercise. The coaches are motivating and the music provides variety, though at times, could use some more frequent changing up (e.g., some coaches have the same playlists for multiple workouts in a row). Staff in the front is friendly and very accommodating. Look forward to working out for the first time in my life!
Love orange theory! Ive been going here for about a year and a half. Its always a great workout
OTF is great! Every workout is different, and is always challenging. I also love that no matter your age or level of fitness or need for modifications due to injury, you can still get a great workout! Julian is the best!!
I just got kicked out of going for the first time because I was 20 min. Early, not 30. I’f you like authoritarian robots with no soul, you will love this place!
I was in TEXAS on business from Florida. I did not want to miss out on 1 week of working out. This facility was amazing from the initial phone convo to all my workouts. They all rock - greeters, to front desk to coaches. Next time I am in TEXAS, I will definitely return.
I love JJ! He always has a smile and such positive energy!!
Great coaches, great support staff, great location and numerous classes everyday!
Dont you dare be a minute late to the 30-min orientation. Youll get kicked out. Apparently driving 40 minutes after arranging a babysitter wasnt enough to persuade them. Still trying to understand how filling paperwork takes 30 minutes?
I must say one of the best fitness centers I have ever come across. The trainers, specifically Mr. Devin, Mr. Joshua, Ms. Michelle, Ms. Ida and last but not the least the studio manger Mr. Chuck and the studio manager Bellaire location. I would highly recommend if someone is willing to put in effort I am sure every team member is an exception And do not hesitate going an extra mile.Since I have only came across the few people I mentioned above, but I am very positive regardless whatever studio you go to, you are in good hands :)They all are very helpful always and easy going. Moreover, they do not take anyone for granted, especially if they know that a person is trying hard to achieve the goal.Mr. Devin would personally reach out to the candidate, just not to find out that why the person is not there but also they make sure the client is getting what he/she wants to and they do not hesitate going out of the way if they know the person is trying hard. This is my very personal experience, even though I have only met a few people a few times and, trust me the ones i have even just spoken over on phone, they went above and beyond.Thank you so much Devin, not buttering you up but trust me just because your of positivity attitude and consistent motivation i took this step and i think I have started enjoying it and you know how much I hate going to the gym lol. 😎So, after meeting with #teamorangetheory in person and speaking and interacting over the phone I know I am i am in good hands. I feel motivated and positive. Thank you so much all, I really appreciate all the effort, motivation and your time. We need more people like you:) Thank you very much Carlos 😎You were a great help as well :)
A great all - round workout in a fun environment with motivational coaches and music that makes you forget you’re working out ...
Great high energy classes (as expected for OTF) always hard to get into morning classes and after work hours classes.
Well executed but I fee it’s a fad that will soon pass
I loved the variety of the workout and the music . Our trainer Cristy was awesome and she did a great job guiding me on my first day.
Great workout for a gym away from home while I was traveling! Already located another Orangetheory in the next city Im headed to.
I go to Orange Theory all over the US and this studio was great--friendly staff and as always the workout was tough but only an hour long.
Love the staff the music and the class times!! I feel strong and ready for whatever post workouts!!
I have been working out there for 1 week and the gym and teachers are amazing!
I recently book a new member appointment through a friend and was looking forward to my appointment, but as a new member they ask that you show up 30 minutes early for paperwork. I confirmed several times that week I spoke with there team and confirm my appointment. Even driving there I called to confirm that I was on my way. Well as fate would have it, I arrived 1 minute past the 30 minute mark and they refused to take me or honor my appointment. I understand that 5:30pm is a busy time, but 1 minute past the 5 pm appointment is unprofessional and acceptable. For an organization that is always looking for new people, Im just a number to them. What makes this even worse, that their customer service called me this week and asked if I was interested in rescheduling my appointment. I voiced my complaint on their website, through social media, and even sent a complaint to their corporate office. Customer Service is poor at this location and until they learn to correct that Orange Theory will Never get my business!
Terrible customer service. I signed up for a (FREE) intro class, they took my card information to reserve my spot in the class. I had a terrible family emergency that led to circumstances keeping me from the class. When I tried to explain the situation they did not care and clearly only cared about charging my card and making money off of me for missing the class. Poor quality customer service, will never consider Orange Theory again.
Love the combination of rowing, treadmill and strength/core training in the same workout. Thank you Jillian Nel for signing your mom up!
Best workout Ive ever experienced! Its an addicting atmosphere and the coaches are extremely motivating!
I have tried everything from group training classes, outdoor bootcamps, but nothing gave me the weight loss results like Orange Theory. Its the most efficient way of getting the most caloric burn in one hour and keep burning for upto 36 hours. Ive been coming to this west university location for over 6 months and the trainers are all very motivating and professional! Thank you OTF team!
Best one hour exercise program I have ever done. Highly recommend OTF for anyone any level, and the coaches are all outstanding.
I love the challenge, intensity and that the series of exercises are different every class 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Orangetheory has been amazing! I wanted a fitness class that will push me, and I have objective data (e.g. calories burned and splat points) to monitor my progress. After being a member for a month, Ive already noticed that my endurance and overall strength have improved. I have to spend time predicting my schedule for the week so I can sign up for classes, which can definitely be difficult. However, I think it is worth it. I need the dedicated hour-long sessions or else I would find an excuse to not work out at all. They plan an efficient work-out while playing music that matches the intensity of the workouts. I dont waste time fumbling around a gym, and every workout is different so I will never be bored. The equipment is also awesome. Im not a runner, but their treadmills have some give so joints feel so much impact. The trainers have corrected my technique/form so that I am getting the most out of the moves and wont let me injure myself. The customer service is great too! My car battery died in the parking lot, and one of the sales persons in the lobby a) looked at my car, b) pushed it by himself out of its spot while my car was in neutral, and c) helped me jump the battery using his car. My day would have been so much longer if he hadnt helped me. Thank you, Devin!! (Im so sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly.) For those on the fence about joining because of availability for classes: There will be a new OTF location in Midtown (not sure of the opening date), and there is one already open on Bellaire near the Medical Center. I think these locations may eventually spread out members so that the West U location is not so saturated.
I felt very protected in all aspects of safety and love the supportive environment!
Fantastic workout & coaches... on schedule... 1 hour and you are finished. French fries not included.🍟
I was really skeptical about Orange theory but once a friend convinced me to go, I think Im hooked. The routine changes each time and really gives you opportunities to push yourself beyond what you would do in any other circuit-style cardio routine - which for someone who hates the pain of intense cardio is a real good thing
It’s fast paced and motivational all thru out.
Great workout!! Never boring, you are working everything without even knowing it!! You are burning calories FOR SURE!!
I love the variety and energy with each workout! It is hard to schedule, but I’ve made it work
Great workout!!!! Customer service is the worst. Have to call 3 to 5 times just to get them to answer the phones
Love the intensity and competition this class brings out!
The team at West U is always helpful and friendly!
If late by 10 mins due to traffic you get rescheduled to another class!!! When have only part of day to exercise- really inconvenient. If you have limited time to exercise- this is NOT the place for you!
I feel supercharged the rest of the day!
This franchise never leaves you alone. You can tell them to stop calling but they are relentless.
Fun, variety, great instructors, doable, fast pace, enthusiasm...
I know that when I leave I have gotten a terrific workout and I am worn out!
Im a new member - great workout - booking online or via the app is proving to be more painful than the workout!!
Very differently run then northern centers. More rigid and mechanical with customer service
Fun and vigorous workout!!
It is nice
Best workout!
