Worse place to get a van - the side door sounded like it was about to fall off! You could hear all the wind coming from the outside in - had to try 4 different vans because a/c wasnt cooling. Then got extra charges to my bill after and when i called no one would call me back! This was the WORSE PLACE TO RENT A VAN!!! We drove to Tennessee and it was the worse ride ever! Never again!

The receptionist was AMAZING. AVR really helps you out and gets you what you need! If you are renting, I most definitely recommend renting from AVR. Staff is great and the vehicles were so clean! Will definitely be back! WORTH EVERY PENNY! AVR you picked the perfect employees

First I would like start by saying, The employees had not good but great customer service skills.I got a little frustrated at first. Going in through the rental processes. The lady Takeria.( Forgive me if I spelled it wrong.) Was very helpful.Even tho I was late for the reservation.She still helped me out. Stayed professional. I Ended up having to come back the next day because I didnt have all my documents. SHE still did her job and when I came back the next morning I had everything n the process went quick. Thanks one again for your help will be using again. When I went back the next day.Ms. Amelia is the one that helped me that morning she was very polite n professional. Last but not least Mr. Deion answer the phone when I call about an issue I was having again customer service skills 100 he explained everything put my mind at ease and was very professional with it. The process was quick n hassle free Thank you guys once again.

I rented a van last Christmas to take my family around to look at lights. It was perfect!! Renting a van was easy and fast. Jenny was so nice and patient. She was transparent and talked about all the fees and explained everything in detail. The van was clean and ran well. Would use again!

Shuttle service didnt pick me up from airport after numerous calls to various numbers associated with the business. I left several messages during normal business hours.No one at the Houston airport (IAH) knew where the shuttle to their off-site location was located. After spending over an hour trying to figure out how to get to the vehicle I supposedly rented, I called Kayak and cancelled my reservation.Ended up going with Avis. Paid for my vehicle and drove out of the airport.

Bad service, really horrible we booked the van a week before our trip, on the day of decided to go pick it up and all of sudden the van we BOOKED is no longer available. They had the audacity to say it’s first come first serve when we booked a week ago. Please do better, learn how to do business.

Corporate needs to update their systems. Very confusing. They need to learn from Hertz or Avis. But Mimi at IAH and Pua from Dallas are wonderful employees! They help me resolve a major problem that even corporate cannot resolve. Friendly and professional!

The most horrible experience I have ever been their renting a vehicle, I would give them zero stars. I prepaid online and per their policies they do not give refunds when you pre pay. During the one hour I was there two additional prospective renters left without a vehicle and very upset. I reserved a 12 passenger van and they only had one, they wanted to give me a 15 passenger van that had no room for luggage because the 12 passenger one was not clean and missing parts. Parts were missing from the back this one shows the Jack cover missing but the other side also had missing parts and the seats were extremely filthy. The cup holders were missing also so it was just a hole there that went into the sheet metal part. They charge extra if you have more then one driver and also require you to buy their insurance because they have registered all their Vans in California. In California vans like this 12 passenger van are considered commercial thus you need to have a commercial insurance your personal insurance will not cover it. So many ways to get the consumer DO NOT Rent Here. Also, the guy that was there to pick up his rental car arrived at 1:32 (2 minutes late) to pick up his car and they told him he was late and that they no longer had his vehicle that they had rented it to someone else. And guess what he pre paid and will not get a refund. The other young lady that was there didnt take her car because it was dirty also and she rather loose the $100 them take the car.

Customers not satisfied for many reasons, but the main one was that they gave us the van not advertised. Van given to us was in very bad shape mechanically and cosmetically inside and outside. Definitely thinking twice to rent from this place again.

Worst experience ever. The two ladies were very rude to customer and lost patient quickly. The invoice was hardest part to understand and Lena, store manger, rejected to explain and asked me to leave store several times. Nightmare, be aware of!!!

Really bad customer service !!! Definitely wont use them again..The Van I rented smelted really bad and poor air conditioning. I hope the owner of the company actually responds to the bad review with good answer to why the service and the van are horrible not just the one with 5 star which most likely is from relatives or friends .

Call their shuttle pick up number to check if their phone working. Shuttle service didnt pick me up from airport after numerous calls. Office girl told me later about problem with phone line. Cost me a uber trip to their office. Other than that everything else was good. Front desk white girl was very helpful.

Absolutely horrible! I gave one star because it was the cheapest rental I could find. After hour drop off is not convient. The gate wouldnt open even with my payment! So my husband missed our flight which was for about 9am he has to wait till 6pm to leave. I called the women and all she could say was call me back in 20mins while my flight was getting ready to board. I was also told they had a shuttle thats not true... Would not recommend especially if you are coming from another State like myself

Paid 336.00 for a 2 day rental.I will never use you again. I had people come from out of town and I was so embarrassed. You should be ashamed of yiur false advertising on the puctures if your vans. They were deplorable at the location you sent me to. I will use every opportunity I have to let people know how your vans look. And if I can, report you to the better business bureau. I have taken a couple of pictures. The shicjs were so bad you bounced off the seat. Cup holders completely torn out. Seats ripped and the van smelled. It was very old.

Had a pre paid reservation at 8 am sat. As soon as I show up at 8 the lady tells me we don’t have any vans available. Another family shaws up little after and same situation. Then finally says we do have a van but might not have ac and missing a bench. And must get full coverage. And not the new transit van . False information online bad customer service . On March 27th I rented a vehicle from Airport Van Rentals, I returned the vehicle 4 hours before I was scheduled to return it on March 28th. I was charged a late fee because they entered it into their system incorrectly They put in the system that I returned the vehicle on March 29th. I have tried reaching out to them multiple times. I have left messages and actually talked to employees there. The GM, who is the only one that can refund my money, will not return my calls nor refund the late charges. The corporate office says they cannot take care of the problem that it is by location. It may not be much money, but it is theft and very poor customer service. I just want to have this resolved but not being able to get anyone to return my calls or offer help is frustrating. I want to protect others from this experience.

We tried renting a van from here and got a phone call the same day we were suppose to pick it up saying they overbooked and they would refund our money... checked our card and they still haven’t and it’s been almost a month!!! They keep sending us in circles to talk to different people and we are getting no where! They tell us to talk to a guy named Marcus who refuses to answer the phone, or update our claims in their computer... according to the workers. This is so unprofessional

Never trust this place. Had a reservation and they refused to answer the phone to send a shuttle. Decided to take an Uber and they closed. Worst customer service experience ever, hole in the wall unprofessional rentals. Look elsewhere and save yourself a headache rather than try to save a few bucks.

I should have took all the reviews seriously. I thought I had no other option for a van that is for 15 people so I still booked with AVR Houston. Worst decision I could have made. This place is terrible! Most unprofessional place. I booked at least a month ahead. They choose to tell me the day before my trip that they have changed their business hours due to COVID. Like seriously!! One day notice. I called to see what I could do as my reservation was for 12:30 and they close at 12. Well it took many calls because it kept sending me to a voicemail to finally get a person. She said its fine she would change my reservation for 11:30 as our flight landed at 11:15. At moment I felt the issue was solved. We landed a IAH a little late. Literally as soon as we landed like at 11:23 or so we started calling over and over and again no answer. Two people from my group decided to catch an uber to get to the place before they closed. They got there a few minutes after 12 and the employee was sitting in there car. Looked at the two people from my group and just drove away. We called around and thankfully we found JJs van rental. They were able to get us a van delivered to the airport with 2 hours.

We drove an hour to get here for a van that we needed for our trip. Even called before hand after booking to make sure it was still open and that we could pick up the vehicle. Arrived at 3:30pm place was closed down. Called customer service they pretty much told us it is what it is. no solutions offered. No refund offered. We ended up calling a third party company that used to make the booking to get a refund! Absolutely do not recommend!! Stay away from this company

Horrible Experience, I will NOT recommend them. Picked up a 12 passenger Ford Transit from Houston location, drove for 5 mins and started noticing issues. Brakes were squeeking, one of the tires was rubbing against something. Washer fluid light came on (didnt bother me too much at that time as I didnt need it.) Got home, picked up the family and now we hop on the highway and headed towards Colorado Springs, CO. As Im driving I see passenger door ajar light come and go, and the interior dome lights started to go on and off with it. This made me really nervous as I had people in the back sitting by this door and sleeping (as this was very late at night.) This was happening in usual intervals so I had to pull over and check the door frequently. Now we get to Colorado and it started snowing and now I need washer fluid, obviously. So I pull into a get station to purchase washer fluid because the sign was on, as I open the hood to fill the reservoir, I see the reservoir is topped off. I did some research and found out that this could be a blown washer fluid pump. Well we somehow managed to get to our destination. First thing I did after reaching, I called customer service. They gave me few options, one of them was to bring the vehicle to pep boys but they said it would take a few days to get it fixed and I will be without a vehicle and they wont provide me with a vehicle for the time being. Second option was that they deliver me a replacement from their Denver location but they were charging $200 to deliver it. Third option was that I drive this vehicle I have to Denver location which is one and a half hour away and they will put me in a replacement. I chose this option because we needed a vehicle ASAP as this was a vacation and we wanted to go places, and I didnt want to spend $200 on delivery. I head out next morning in some hazardous conditions as there was mist mixed with salt (salt was from the day before because of snow,) this kept building up on windshield and I had to constantly pull over to get out and clean windshield. There were times when I had zero visibility on a down hill roads with bunch of twists and turns. I made it there in one piece and they provided me with the replacement. The person I worked with at the Denver location was very nice and helpful. The replacement they gave me didnt have back up sensors or a backup camera, the alignment was very off too. I brought this up to their attention at Denver location and they said they will see if they can find me another replacement but it wont be until the day before or the day we leave for Houston, so I said ok as we needed something for the time being. Check engine light came on on this replacement on second day in this replacement. They found me a second replacement on the day we were leaving so I drove again to Denver, picked it up and started driving down to Houston. This second replacement was how a rental should be, decent condition. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone, they are not professional, no apologies from them for this inconvenience; like nothing at all.

Stay away! Overcharged us for a minivan. We where told one price and 2 weeks since we dropped off their van they have still been charging our card! We never received the deposit back and we when call we always get hung up on. Very shady business! Went to the office twice and both times they were closed. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!! I had booked a 15-passenger van with this company about 4 weeks ago because I couldn’t pass up the special for ~$86 (all in). However, I never received my confirmation email, only the the code that was given when I checked out online. I went into their office a week before the planned day trip to make sure everything was good-to-go. The lady who was running the desk was nice enough, but turned rather ugly when I wanted clarification on the terms of the policy. Come to find out, the advertised unlimited mileage and after-hours return are only reserved for out of area renters. This was not a problem, I asked if it was possible to switch the policy to another renter in my party that would qualify, that’s when she got really aggressive and said she would make sure I would not get the rental if that’s what I was planning. I only wanted clarification and to understand what was possible to keep my bill within the budget. Also, they run on a 24hr contract, any time over this constitutes a second day, again, not a problem. But the lady again seemed really aggravated that I wanted to understand the terms. To avoid possible petty retribution, I decided to go with a more well established company and pay a little extra. I’m still shocked and surprised by this bizarre experience. I would say not to risk the headache and go elsewhere.

Horrible service we waited for like almost 6 hours to get the car from them and then the car given was not at all good. Tried to get in touch but the response is jut not good, we were told we will get a discount as we had a hassle but not yet and when we ask for them same no reply, The girl at the help counter was good to us, but the service is really really bad, we got a car which was returned in 2 days and we got another one, the car had very less gas and we filled it and when we gave it back the gas was almost full they had told we would get the difference. And hence did not get that too. Not Recommended.

Was not happy that when I got there I was told that there vans are considered commercial which is different from every other rental company. Then I learned my insurance did not cover commercial vehicles. Their insurance coverage was double that of the rental. Needless to say, I left without renting anything since they had no cars available. This delay made for a very lengthy day.

While the location of this car rental place is quite questionable, look past that as the cost of the car is fantastically reasonable! Service when getting the car and when returning it was fantastic. They expedite the process nicely. I would definitely use them again.

I rented a vehicle on hotwire and the reservation stated that there is shuttle to pick up and drop off from George Bush Houston, airport I got there and the rental car place was outside of the area covered for the shuttle. They were closed after 4:00pm. So I had to rent another car from a different rental place. Had the same problem going home. No shuttle. Had to Uber.

Don’t do business with these companies - AVR or ACE (same scammers). Regardless of how desperate you are for a vehicle, they will only add to your mental anguish. Here’s my story: I went on Priceline and made 2 reservations for a 12 passenger vehicle. I received confirmation numbers. My group and I flew from Miami, Fl. to Houston, Texas. They (AVR/ACE) have a shuttle that comes to the airport to pick you up. I called several times and they never showed up. After a hour wait, I spent money on an Uber and went to their off-site location. Only to find the people working there (especially their “so called manager”) working and looking very unprofessional. First, what company allows you to come to work in street clothes - too tight shirt (highlighting your excessive cellulite), cut off blue jeans shorts, and flip flop shoes? There were 2 customers in front of me and it took them 30 mins. to get to me. Later, I learned they were stalling the customers so their vehicles could be clean (rinsed off is more like it).When I reached the counter, the “manager” proceeded to tell me they have no vehicles, even for people who reserved them. She showed no sympathy or understanding for my concerns, “Just we have no cars.” She also said, “There must be a glitch in the system;” alluding to the fact the system continues to accept reservations, knowing there are no vehicles available. I spoke with a customer who told me she made a reservation months ago. So how can you not have a car; that’s no glitch.Lastly, after my horrible experience with AVR (who by the way doubles has ACE RENTAL CAR, one of the same company) I went on Priceline and AVR and ACE were still reserving cars, when they know they don’t have any cars. Listen, DON’T RESERVE A CAR WITH AVR or ACE RENTAL CAR! Whatever it takes, make other plans and live stress free.

I read the bad reviews but took the risk and this turned out to be a great rental service. The mini van we rented was clean and safe. The shuttle service was fast and on time both ways. It seems like a smaller company and all of the employees I met were very professional and friendly in the best ways. I will use AVR again.

I rented a 15 passenger van in the middle of May for a family trip from Houston, TX to Destin, FL. A few days before my reservation I came across all of the negative online reviews about people showing up and there not being a vehicle for them. Not going to lie, I got a little nervous. I decided to book another van through a more reputable company as a plan b (I did not need to use plan b).The process of picking up my vehicle was overall fairly smooth. My advice to anyone is to book for an early pick up and read the fine print. If you are using a debit card you need to bring 2 utility bills with you. They will also hold a deposit on your debit card. I think it was around $200 (this is normal). Also, be sure to have the phone number for your car insurance company handy. They made me call my insurance company during the check in so that they could speak to a representative and verify that my insurance would cover a commercial van. These things made the check in process a little longer than other places Ive rented from. But again, it was overall fairly easy and smooth.The van was in pretty good shape. It ran well, a/c worked and fit us just perfect. It was also clean and did not have any odors. It was just what we needed.As far as the comments about professionalism and customer service, there is some truth. While the lady checking me in was not rude at all, she also was not friendly. I cant say that I felt welcomed. To me, it wasnt a huge deal as I was more worried about getting a van. The lady that assisted me when I returned the van was much more pleasant and seemed to be in a better mood.One last piece of advice is to be sure to return the vehicle when it is due! You will be charged a lot of money if you go past your return time. If you want your deposit back you need to have the van back on time. All in all, I probably would not recommend this company to a friend or family. Simply because of the bad experiences that others have had. However, because I had a fairly decent experience, I would be open to using them again myself. Reserve at your own risk and best of luck!

Price is very good, half as much as the enterprise (where I booked a van 4 months in advance and 48 hours before the trip called to confirm to find out there were no vans available IN TEXAS). I found them while looking at Priceline after Enterprise lost 8 customers for life, but decided to go straight to their website. Through Priceline, you pay when you get there. At their website directly, you get a discount to pay in advance. You do put down a $200 deposit (I am still waiting for my refund... dont expect it back quickly...). Double check miles on vehicles. Miles on receipt when checking out did not match miles on the vehicle. Guy inside had me write down the correct miles (off by over 6,000 miles) but he never inputted the system. When you go to book on the website, it says unlimited free miles. When you get to the place, they tell you 375 miles a day. Be sure to print out details from the website that you booked before you get there if you plan on driving more than the total miles of 375 a day. Not an issue for me, but fair warning....You get what you pay for here. It did get us a vehicle when Enterprise failed at providing service, and it did cost us $300 less than what it was going to cost at Enterprise for the same vehicle, but had tire issues. When I got the van, it had tire light. I addressed it with the guy, and he said it was the sensor, nothing wrong with the van. You can tell by looking it is a lower cost place ($300 less..), so I had roadside assistance so I did not worry about it. I got home, the tires looked fine. Next morning, I went to pick up my family and we checked the tires. One had a leak. The roadside phone number on receipt does not accept calls. We changed to the spare tire before we left town so we wouldnt be going on a road trip with a tire leaking.The steering wheel shook so bad on the drive to our destination that we had to ask the owner of our AirBnB to let us use a jack so we could rotate our own tires to put the second bad tire in the back so we could drive safely. Again, roadside assistance phone number does not work, so it didnt matter that we HAD paid for roadside assistance. Rest of the drive itself was fine. Dual AC worked well. It took 15 hours to make a 9 hour drive due to the shaking steering wheel, but we made it to our destination in one piece.When I went to return the van, the person who checked it out never updated the miles, nor did they have the copy of the paper (I would suggest taking a picture of what you write down for any scratches/dents on van as they did not have a copy of what I filled out when I came back). The gentleman adjusted the miles to what I told him it was when we got the van so I would not be charged some outrage charge (that online when I booked said was unlimited) for miles I did not drive. I told him about the tire issues. He gave me my receipt saying I would get my deposit back (still has not been refunded...) and told me to call the number on receipt and write down Pams number who was over the location for an additional discount. The guy was genuinely apologetic. He told me he wished he could give a discount, but he wasnt able to. Pams number rings once and goes to voicemail. She doesnt call back. The 844 number for roadside assistance number does not work. Call number on website- on hold 5 min then hang up. No on emails back.

Had to take a taxi from IAH to their offsite rental company. Their business was closed at 2:25, even though it said they were open until 3. No one ever answered the phone, and my voicemails were never returned. Eventually had to have a family member pick us up and bring us to our destination. Should have done more research before trying to rent from this company. I would highly recommend that anyone considering renting from here think twice before booking.

Their service is great. People have to understand if they rent by a third party other than their website the rules they said are not correct. For instance there is not such thing as unlimited mileage. Our van had 250 miles per day, since we had it for 4 days we had 1,000 miles. Which was more than enough for us.And if you are using a debit card you have to bring 2 bills under your name with the same address for security purposes. I recomend not using the insurance 3rd parties offer, use your own or theirs. Most insurance only offer coverage for up to 9 people.Their customer service is great, its just the lies 3rd party websites use that people get upset about and want to take it off on them when is not their fault.

Confirmation mail did not provide accurate pick up address. We were looking for the place for 30 minutes and nobody answered the phone. When we arrived they did not get our insurance and never mentioned in the reservation process or email to make sure we had insurance for the van. Horrible place. We ended up having to buy their insurance. Cheap price for the van but the insurance thing is their business.

If i could ill give this place zero star rating! I rented a minivan on line from this place 2 days ahead i got a email with a confirmation number plus i had too buy insurance ..when i got there to pick up the vehicle the guy thats was there said that they didnt have the vehicle that i rented...i was really upset that they didnt even call me or email to let me know that they didnt have the car i needed luckily i went to a real and professional car rental place (Alamo car rental) where they took car of me on the spot.

Ive rented from the Houston location twice. Ive had a great experience both times, with no issues. I rented a 15 passenger van and we had plenty of space. As a reminder to those renting, if youre renting from your local AVR then the unlimited mileage doesnt apply, thats only for those folks that are flying into the city youre renting from.

We had a great experience. Wish we had gotten the name of the wonderful lady we were shuttled to/from airport by. Drop off was a breeze and we were first group to airport via shuttle. Pick-up upon arrival took longer than we expected and we had an antsy 20-month old, but again the woman driving the shuttle more than made up for it in demeanor and attention. Will rent from again when in area!!!!

Arrived with a family friend from IAH to pick up a mini van rental. Took about 45 min once we had called to be picked up and taken to the rental site. Once there the place had about 4 check ins ahead of us and people seemed disgruntled. Overhead some issues with third party site bookings not clearly outlining unlimited mileage as well as issues with commercial vehicle insurance so be sure to double check you are getting both before booking a non refundable rate. The gentleman working even said that the terms and conditions outline local renters are only allowed 375 miles. As for the commercial insurance even if you bought it at the time of booking it didnt seem to actually apply. All in all, it took about 2 hours to actually get into the rental which is pretty dirty... Interiors sides of doors and walls have marks and dirt, Sears are vaccummed but need to be wet wiped. Not too much damage to note on exterior but wouldnt hurt to take in depth photos. Good luck!

Listen to the warnings here. Just book from a reputable place, everything about this company is bizarre. The office looks like a flop house, anything outside of their limited hours is considered after hours and you drop off at a long term airport parking lot. Just dont rent from here.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY (AVR AIRPORT VAN RENTAL/ACE RENT A CAR)!!! This is actually a complaint instead of a comment. I reserved two 15 passenger vans for my church youth group to travel from Houston to San Antonio. I booked these vans in advance and called a few days before our 07/20/2018 trip to confirm the reservation. Upon arriving to you facility for our 8:00 am pick up time, we were informed by a very rude employee that there were no vans available. She offered no solution to the problem. We had 30 church members waiting for us at the church and was told that we may not get our vans until maybe 4:00 pm. We had already purchased tickets to Fiesta Texas and was on a time schedule to get there and do all that we had planned. She then said that she only had one 12 passenger van, which was no help for us. Almost 3 hours later. She finally said she could give us the 12 passenger and one 15 passenger that had been out over 27 days but hadnt beeninspected properly. We had no choice but to accept the vehicles because no other place had any vans available and were had several reservations for rooms and other activities in San Antonio that were non refundable. We finally left the facility about 11:30 (which they lied on the print out and said it was about 9:30). The vans were horrible. There issues with the ac units on both vans and both vans had problems with the tires. We were not given any kind of discount or nothing for the inconvenience. All we were told is that it happens sometimes, which was totally unacceptable. I WILL NEVER USE YOUR COMPANY AGAIN. And I will be posting a detailed review about your company. Because your company caused us to leave 3 hours later than planned, our 30 members were not able to enjoy all of the activities planned on our trip. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

1. This is NOT an airport rental car service. Its in the middle of nowhere. Looks like a junk yard. The rental car buses at Houston airport DO NOT serve this location.2. It closed at 4:00PM!!! Any return after 4pm will be charged $20.00+fees, and potentially $50 penalty or more. And you will spend 1 more hour to return to the terminals.3. The employees working here are rude. Definitely do not recommend this place. The lady at the front desk charged me an extra day at their most expensive rate because I arrived a couple hours later than the scheduled time. I politely objected and asked to at least be charged another day at the same rate I had but she refused to even attempt to help me. Ended up paying a lot more than at the larger rental companies. Just stay away.

This is hands down the worst service I have ever received from any service based industry ever. Everything about this location is a lie and has a hidden fee. Please, dont read this review and think Yeah but its cheap so Ill risk it. Thats what I did and I paid for it dearly.I waited for a shuttle from the airport for over an hour, I called 3 times and each time I was told theyd be there in 10 minutes. I was hung up on more than once when I called to ask to cancel my reservation. Eventually ended up getting a mediocre van with 55,000 miles on it, and when I returned it after my trip, I brought back full. I literally filled it up and dropped it off 1/10th of a mile from the gas station and was charged $28 for fuel. I was told that the total cost of the rental car would be $87 with taxes and fees...and I was charged $182. I cant even get in touch with anyone to try and sort it out. I feel so robbed.

Stay away! Overall the experience renting with ACE/AVR was extremely unpleasant. I felt swindled. We were rented a car that was in poor condition, charged extra fees that were not in our contract and had no shuttle to the airport (which was in the contract as well). After waiting HOURS on our first day of vacation we were able to obtain the car we reserved, a minivan (they tried to force us to take a 16 passenger van!). I will never rent from these companies again and will discourage friends and family from doing so as well

I just returned a rental car from AVR at IAH in Houston and this has been the WORST rental car experience I have ever had. It took me nearly one hour to get the vehicle on Friday due to under manning at the pick up site. Then, I was charged $20 for after hours drop off, because my return flight is at 6:40am and the AVR office does not open till 8am. I returned the van to the Atelier hotel at 4:45am. The hotel has no sign and appears to be a Wyndam hotel that was closed. After knocking on the door, I was admitted to the building by an after hours hotel worker and asked to sign the car in on a piece of paper and reop the keys at the front desk. I was informed that the shuttle to the airport would leave at 5am. The shuttle driver arrived at 5:10am and informed me that she would not leave till 5:30am. Thank God I was early, or I would have missed my flight! I’ve used AVR on trips to California before and always had a good experience, so I didn’t look at these reviews before booking here (or I would have passed). Something must have changed with ownership or staff at this location because my experience was great. I booked via Kayak/Orbitz after getting to the airport, for an immediate rental. I called for pickup and was told exactly where to go at the airport. The van arrived in 15 minutes, as promised. All employees were friendly and helpful. The van was clean, in good condition, and full of gas. When dropping off, the employee immediately order me an Uber as their van was unavailable. My only recommendation is to tell a customer the total amount when you charge their card. I had to ask, but it was what I expected. They offer after hours drop-off.

Worst car rental experience Ive ever had. Waited 45 minutes at airport until shuttle arrived to take us to rental place. Shuttle was a small van and there wasnt enough room for everyone waiting, so we waited another 20 minutes for the next one. Once we arrived, we waited almost another full hour before we actually got the vehicle. This included a ten minute wait when we finally got to the counter while the person took a detailed phone call from someone else. Every other rental place Ive ever used required a few signatures and I was on my way. Definitely not worth the little bit of money you can save.

Reserved two 15 passenger vans for the weekend. Paid the deposit, got confirmation email, spoke with rep several times etc..I thought we were good to go. Lo and behold when we show up to pick up the vans they have none available and we have 30 kids waiting for us to pick them up!! Needless to say-on a weekend no one can help. No one really cares. All they say is - people didnt return the vans- so sorry. It was very frustrating to say the least trying to find new vans at the last minute. Be very cautious and have a plan B in place. I would look elsewhere TBH

This place was horrible. 1st the pickup location was a totally different place than what is listed on the reservation. No phone call or email to let customers know this. Then, my 12pm reservation had been changed to 8am randomly. The lady at the counter threatened to cancel it several times and then re reserve a vehicle for me at a rate DOUBLE what I had. Finally after my brother in law begged her not to she says if she can get here by 12 Ill give her the van. I get there and look at my reservation email - pickup time: 12pm; wth??Then I get there and the van is RAGGEDY! *I took pics but cant upload here* It was supposed to be a Ford Transit (or similar). It was a Church van with bench seats that were ripped and stained. As I drove off it had NO SHOCKS and creaked when I drove it. Since we had a 13 hr drive I turned around and took it back.She also showed me some brand new vans that they were taking off of a delivery truck and had paper tags (FORD TRANSITS) that I could get if I had more money. $50 more per day for 6 days to be exact.Instead she gave me another church van that wasnt much better but had shocks. It was so dirty tho, that I had to pull over on the freeway to clean the windshield cause it started to rain and the wipers were also bad so it just made a dirt cloud that I literally couldnt see through. There was also a seat that was sunken in and no one could sit there. There was old food both in the seats and in a hole in the roof where a vent shouldve been. At some point in the trip a piece of beef jerky flew out of it and hit someone in the face. It also smelled. There was also a cover on the front passenger seat missing and exposing some mechanical thing that reclines the passenger seat. I knelt down in the van and it jooged me in my knee cartilage. I was in excruciating pain for the rest of the ride and would get a sharp pain when I bent my knee for about 3 weeks. NEVER AGAIN!Oh and my husband later got on AVR online and there was no difference classes of 15 passenger vans. NO premium rates for newer vans or anything. So we were scammed and punished for getting a good rate by booking last year ($52/day) by getting the worst selection of vans when there were nicer ones available and they knew we had a long 13 hour trip with a large group. We had babies in that van and were all uncomfortable and the drive was miserable.

They refused to honor the unlimited miles guaranteed on my receipt, changed the reason several times ultimately claiming that because I didn’t fly in on an airplane (interesting since this was never asked of me) that I couldn’t have unlimited miles. Unlimited miles was the only reason I chose this company; and the cherry on top was how the obese young woman (who claimed to be a manager) couldn’t stop smacking on her hot wings as I attempted to figure out why... Def shop around before renting from this inexperienced staff, I’m now left trying to find a last minute rental the week of Christmas!

If I could give 0 stars I would have for this rental company. Booked a 12 passenger vehicle, post inspection the vehicle needed tire rotation and further maintenance . After returning the vehicle for another one, the second one they gave me had issues with tires again. One of the tires had a tread depth of 4/32nds of an inch. I tried to find a solution through the rental company but they refused to take care of the problem. Poor customer service and unprofessional, I would recommend renting from a more reputable company.

After reading all the negative reviews, I was a bit worried after booking a 12 seater van at AVR, Houston. Fortunately, we had a good experience. I received a call to confirm the reservation a couple of days before the rental. Van was ready for us, clean and in good condition. Tires looked new. I would have given 5 stars but for the confusion during pickup with the documents needed to get the unlimited miles and decline rental insurance. Wish they had that information online. That said, I would definitely consider AVR Houston again.For future renters:1. To get unlimited miles, you need to provide proof that you live 120 miles away (license and recent utility bills)2. If you are planning to decline AVR insurance coverage, be ready to have someone from your insurance company confirm that your insurance will in fact cover the rental van.

I had to take uber as well... I call to make a complaint of overcharge fees, I return the VAN but there was a lot of people waiting, they took the mileage and plate no. I gave the keys, they told me they will checkout and send my invoice by email, I received the invoice with 2 extra hours until now they havent solve or call me back/email... poor service and slow. Avoid this company at all.Today I called to review the situation, I was in hold, the lady just give excuses and hangup, very rude the way she did it. So again avoid at all this company or ACE.

I give AVR a one star review because I cannot give it anything lower. RUN AWAY from this place. It took an hour for the airport shuttle to arrive and 40 minutes to checkout. There was only one person in front of me. They aggressively try to up sell all of the additional add on’s. When you decline their insurance, they insist on all of the details and specifics of your auto insurance policy. They operate out of a building that looks like a shack off a dirt road next to a car auto repair.They charged me a $204 deposit, but only credited back $200. I have not had any luck in getting a hold of them.

We got $201 ( about 55% discount) less than other counter part lowest rental company. We decided to take a chance even though the review was not great since we really were not in time crunch. Experience was pleasant. We got exact SUV we ordered on line and no extra cost for mileages. We didnt have to wait long time to be picked up like what review said, either. I will definitely use this company again if they provide same service with great lower price than other company. I will only suggest this company to use bigger bus to pick up all clients since they are dealing the customers who needs either van or Big SUV.

This is the most horrible service attitude. Do not rent from them as they will tell you when you arrive that they have no vehicles and will offer no solutions. We rented two cars and in the end, we have to make alternative arrangements. They took our money and informed that they cannot re-reimburse the money. Today I was held up at work and arrived late to pickup the mini van that I had booked and paid for online. I was told very rudely that the reservation had been cancelled because I was more then two hours late and it was not their problem if I had paid online because I had used a broker. There was no effort to contact me when I did not arrive on time, and there is no mention of a pickup period on any of the emails that were sent to me. I would not have made the reservation if there was.In the end I walked across the street and paid again to rent a van through them. I guess theres a reason theyre cheap... :(

I have had nothing but customer service nightmares. First if you rent a van cross your fingers that you get what you reserved because chances are you will not receive what you need. I requested a 15 person van on four separate occasions, the first time I got what I needed. The second time I was given a 12 person no discount on rate or apology. The third time I received a 10 person van again no discount or apology. The final time I received an eight person van and you guessed it no discount no apology and I got a nice dirty as in food crumbs filled the benches and floors.Now not getting what I needed was bad enough but now over a month after returning the rental I am receiving charges for tolls that I have receipts for along with penalties. The rental company is passing the buck saying on no we didnt charge you the toll company did. Really then who gave them my credit card information?Oh and dont forget the $200 deposit that will be returned maybe...on one rental I only received a partial refund and the last rental I was forced to go to my bank and dispute the transaction because they refused to release my funds.If you want a stress filled rental experience by all means go here.

The car a bit old, the transfer from the airport to the hotel and hotel to the airport was excellent, the service for delivery of the vehicle very well only that the information was wrong because they told me that for the toll booths I would pay $ 15 per extra day plus the cost of the toll booths and they charged me for each toll booth $ 11 extra and that was not fair. I will not use this service again, they charged me a lot of money for tolls.
