I first went to Rich in 2016 to have my Moms car a 2005 Volvo xc70 get the 60,000 mile check up. It had 77,000 on it because the local Volvo dealer that she had used had gone out of business and she had not gotten any reminders and she was 84 and having some memory problems at the time. Rich did a full service of the car and did a replacement of the timing belt and brakes and a list of other needed maintenance at a fair price.Flash forward to 2021 and the car was inherited by me after my Mom passed away in 2018 and I had a steering fluid leak, the car has 95,000 miles on it and I had decided to keep the car, it is in very good shape. He fixed the problems which were fairly serious and repaired and replaced a lot of if not all of the steering components as well as a few other things I added to the list. We did replaced the motor mounts as he had to lift the engine anyway. He does a great job and as a guy that only works on Volvos he knows the things that should be done if you want the car to run well and last a long time. I am very happy with his honesty and high quality work. I recommend him over the dealers in town....for sure!!!

Hey Volvo people- you found the right place!!! Rich and his team are the Volvo experts you have been looking for. Honest work, fair pricing, integrity and just nice people at PVS. Volvos just about run forever on their own, but Rich can make them run even better and even longer. He took care of my daily driver XC70 for years, services my daughter’s Volvo for routine maintenance, and is the only person I let work on my 1965 P1800S.

After having a pretty terrible experience at a different mechanic, I brought both my Volvos to Richard and would not bring my cars anywhere else moving forward. He walked me through his shop to let me see the work he was doing on my vehicle and then I got to take a look at the engine of his own personal Volvo and it is quite clear that not only does he love what he does but he puts the quality and craftsmanship into others cars as if they were his own. 10 out of 10 would reccomend.

The service at Bosch Car Service was outstanding! I had a fault with my electrical system which the normal Volvo dealer was not able to accurately diagnose or fix. When I brought my car to Rich, he was able to quickly see the root cause of the problem and presented a relatively quick and inexpensive solution. Called for help with my 88 Volvo. Most mechanics and auto part stores will answer a few questions curtly and hang up, but Dave took the time to answer all of my questions and refer me to a bunch of places that might have the parts Im looking for when he didnt have them. Having mixed feelings about my experience there. I can see why some people absolutely love the place and there is no doubt the negatives have some validity as well. First off his demeanor on the phone is off putting, by any customer service standard. That was my initial impression. While I have little doubt his breadth of knowledge is vast for Volvos, his communication such as hourly rate was never discussed. I will not share it either, as he has not chosen to share it on his website, but it is more on par with dealerships than independent shops. You are likely to be happy with his service is as claimed, 100% volvo and with knowlege and experience to back it up. The thing not touched on except in the negative reviews is you are going to pay for that supposed expert hand in the form of estimates which exceed most others. If price is no object and you want that experienced hand on your beloved Volvo, people would grow to love this shop, I can see that. But if your goal is just to get the work done adequately at a reasonable price, there are other options. All in all, I can see he is not everyones cup of tea but he does seem forthright and honest in his dealings once you step foot on his place and get something done. Personally will not use him as a first choice for the more benign regular stuff, pricing and hourly rate are simply too high. But for those that have a more emotional affair with their Volvo, this is probably your guy in Houston.

Richard is a very honest, pleasant person to deal with. PVS is not the cheapest in town and thats okay with me. You get what you pay for. Richard is never looking to cut corners, makes honest recommendations and stands behind the quality of their workmanship.Weve dealt with Professional Volvo for many years and I would NEVER have anyone else work on our Volvos. At one point, we had four Volvos at once (were down to one now) that we bought from Professional Volvo and had them service as well.

I had oil change work done there. Its cost is ridiculous, at least twice as much. His trick is to itemize everything he ever touched; even for a small washer, he charge you a few dollars plus labor and shop supplies. I do not think I can trust him anymore.

After moving to Houston in 1990 with two Volvos, I quickly learned that going to any of the local dealers was a crapshoot. A friend recommended Professional Volvo. Now, 25 years later our whole family still brings our Volvos to Richard Polk at PVS.Recently my wife bought her 3rd XC 90 since we moved here, and counting my grown childrens cars it will be the 12th Volvo we are trusting PVS to service. I almost burst out laughing when the dealer (Volvo of The Woodlands) extolled the virtues of their service department. They couldnt even prepare and deliver the car properly! (losing one of the key fobs - 4 weeks later were still waiting for the replacement).Volvos are GREAT cars. Do yourself a BIG favor and stay away from the dealers. Head to PVS.

Summary:Called in to get some information on taking my Volvo in for recommended maintenance repairs. Ive never had a more awful experience with a mechanic shop in my entire life. I give more details below, but essentially I was A) told they dont care what I have to say B) told they wont do any repairs on my vehicle unless I agree to do every repair that THEY recommend...regardless of what I want done as the customer C) told they wont give me a price estimate for a specific repair unless I drop it off with them (sorry but havent they done timing belt replacements before?) and D) treated rudely and disrespectfully.Update: got all my repairs done for $1200 at a different mechanic (incl. tax and labor).Nitty gritty details...if you really want to know:Called for my xc90 to get the timing belt and related parts replaced. This is a very common repair and a ton of price ranges can be found on multiple websites and online auto forums that all quote between $500-900. I was expecting the quote to be more than the $900 I found online because the internet isnt perfect, but this place quoted me $1800. The online community may not be exactly accurate, but this is way too big of a difference. So then I ask for a quote estimate on just the timing belt and water pump and tension pulley. They say they cant give me that information over the phone and I have to take my car in to have it checked out before I can get a quote. Wait, a certified Volvo repair shop cant give me an ESTIMATE on what a very common repair would cost? I called two other mechanic shops in town who both were able to do this for me. Then Im told that they wont do any repairs on my vehicle unless I do every repair they recommend, which totals to $1800-1900. Top all of that off with the guy on the phone telling me he doesnt care what Im saying.In a matter of minutes, I went from probable paying customer to you couldnt pay me to have this business touch my car. In fact, I will now go out of my way to tell people never to go here (hence the scathing review). Congratulations Bosch!Side note, but Im really curious as to who these other Google reviewers dealt with that resulted in such a positive experience.

They fixed the problem right the first time!We Sent a 2005 Volvo S40 to Pro Volvo Service on a tow truck, the car did not start and we could not even take the key out of the ignition, we had no idea what was wrong with the vehicle. I took it to multiple mechanics prior to taking it to PVS and no one could diagnose it. Arna is one of the nicest mechanic guys I have ever dealt with, he fully diagnosed the vehicle, took the time to explain everything for me in details and was very patient answering the million questions that I had for him. Repaired some cosmetic damage on my 2015 XC60, turned out exactly as I wanted.

The place is like a bad dental practice. Once you go in, more problems come up afterwords. Do not let theses guys open up your engine. Always specify what you want done, or they will just do work and chage you for it.
