I have so far a wonderful experience here all the staff has been exceptional in helping us get settled! I would recommend to anyone who is interested I see a lot of negative parking comments on here. I will say that is an issue but just about anywhere in Honolulu will have this issue it’s your job to prepare and not on the apartment. I had a tight parking space and they were prompt and polite to get it changed and I appreciate that very much.

I love the fact that your property is pet friendly as it is very difficult to find and secondly the location is central. But I must give recognition to the many staff that have made my stay here comfortable.Zach Lanser my leasing agent, a good listener to my needs.Tory Argenzia-Resident Services Admin., to my amazement quickly assisted a covered parking.Barbie Quinones-Resident Manager quickly took care of my utility question I had.Shaniah Agmata-Resident Services Admin. was so apologetic about work request needed and quickly got maintenance to assist the problem. Patrick Fitzpatrick-maintenance was very professional and friendly especially with my dogs. As well as April/agent she is so sweet. When in passing, when she could, make an effort to say hello.Tina - housekeeping. I must say this lady works hard when she was doing my building. It smelled so nice and clean when I would pass by the elevator. Though she’s no longer doing my building I’ve gotten to know Josie. I love her smile and enjoy talking with her.Dennis-security. Any questions I had, he would be able answer and if he couldn’t would take care of it. Deleen too, so sweet always waving in passing. In all, your staff is truly amazing.Thank you,Jacquelyn Izumi

I’ve been in for a little bit and it’s not to bad. If you have more than 1 car you need to look at other apartments. Street parking is impossible, People just use it to store their other car. As far as the building I live in one of the renovated buildings and it’s nice and gets cleaned about twice a week if not more, I don’t have any complaints so fair with the building. For a 1BD 1BA The utilities for me and my wife run $150ish every month and we pretty much run the a/c at 67 on and off all day.

Horrible experience!!! Look for another place to live; there are many places so much better than those apartments!Starting with the parking, I am sure many people work late hours, in my case I couldn’t find parking after 8 pm, even when you pay at the beginning they tell you that you have enough parking spaces, that’s a BIG LIE! I often was tired, and it was so frustrating to get home and don’t find any parking space. My car was towed in a regular space. The amount for utilities increases without any warning! It is crazy how they make it sound so perfect to live there! I do not recommend this place. For my Army people, if you are thinking of renting there, dont do it. Rent a house on-post instead of there. I rather pay all of my BHA at AMR and live comfortably than try to save some money and live miserable. I so happy now that I moved.

Been living here for about 6 months, PARKING IS THE WORST! Was told we would have available parking for our guests till 1am in the “GUEST” stalls. Just recently all guest stalls have been removed forcing guests and residents to park on the littlest street, for parking. Which is ALWAYS busy and residents even struggle with. If you have two or more cars, have guests after 5pm (which is usual after work hours) or have plans after work, GOODLUCK cause you won’t find any parking stalls on the street from 3pm until the next day.I am a resident and have only one stall available near my apartment. I have a boyfriend that also lives with me in a 1 bedroom apartment. Having two cars is a must on this island. Living here... y’all might have to downsize or plan accordingly. Makes it difficult to live your daily life struggling to come home to no parking everyday.

Update: Management was very quick to contact me in response to my concerns. I really appreciate that.I chose this apartment for the price and convenience. Huge mistake. Parking is horrendous. If you live here do not plan on having any guests over. No guest parking & you are only allowed 3 guest passes per month. It was a nightmare getting my own parking pass. I went back and forth over emails to just update my own vehicle. It was very frustrating. The call box for my building has been broken for over a week. My sister came over while I was at work to drop some things off for me and could not get in. I called the leasing office to see if they could send someone over and they said no for security reasons. I understand security issues but in this case you should really make an exception for your residents. This place is a joke. I have never had this low of customer service at any other complex I have lived in.

We have lived here for 5 years and we love it. It very conveniently located. The management has done their best this past year trying to accommodate everyone with the amenities as they can. (Covid) Even though there are a lot of move in and move outs in our area (mostly due to Military transfers) we always have awesome neighbors. Im sure this is due to an awesome team in the office reviewing all applicants thoroughly. OK, Parking.... lets talk about parking. It can be difficult at sometimes to locate a stall near your apt, but I truly believe that the Management has done a pretty good job weeding out reserved stalls that were not being used and freeing them up.

Just moved out and highly dissatisfied with the charges I received. Complete bogus. $350 for paint and cleaning and we cleaned the hell out of that apartment. We literally cleaned for 7-8 hours. Would not recommend anybody stay here. They do not care about you. All they want is their money. They also did this to TWO of my coworkers and their charges were even worse. Also, it is not parking friendly. Only 1 assigned stall and any extra costs 75$/month. The price for sewer utility is insane. roughly 100$/month, even more than electricity some months. Find somewhere else to stay, trust me. To all my fellow Air Force and Navy service members on island with dependents, look into Dorris Miller military housing. For the same price as a one bedroom apartment at MHA ($2500) you can have a beautiful duplex home with CENTRAL AC, PARKING FOR TWO, and WAY MORE SPACE. Also the commute to JBPHH is way better from Dorris Miller military housing than it is from Moanalua Hillside (straight shot on Nimitz Highway to the gate).

Terrible service from management, rats and roaches in our apartment from day one, awful to no parking, no AC despite being told prior to move in that we would have it, etc. I could go on forever. Please, do you and your mental health a favor and live somewhere else. Anywhere else. I’d live on the sidewalk of Nimitz before I live here again.

AWFUL!!! When touring the apartment I was VERY impressed. My apartment is in the older building but “newly” renovated with new appliances. I am a 19 year old girl and I strongly believe they saw that and believed they could get away with lying about several things. Touring the apartment I was told we would get two parking spots, if we were careful with utilities it wouldn’t be a lot every month, the pool was closed during the tour I was told because of maintenance but we’ve now been living here for four months and the pool just now opened and the gym has been closed the entire time. No compensation for any of this. My roommates and I weren’t here for two months over the summer and our utilities were still over $300 a month when there were no utilities being used. THEN we were told after having to ask that it is shared between the entire building not by unit. There is a cockroach in the dryer and has been for the entire time we’ve been living here. You have to pay for a laundry card and then upload money onto it. Just yesterday I uploaded $40 to and and used it one time so there is now $38 on it and conveniently it doesn’t work anymore the card is broken. I emailed them a month ago voicing my concerns and still have not gotten an email back. Those two parking spots we were told we’d have? Oh yeah you have to pay for them and STILL not even reserved sometimes you need to walk like half a mile to your apartment because there is no parking. There is reserved parking but you’re unable to get it, random people have it. I was told the apartment was professionally cleaned right before I got here but as I was moving my stuff in I closed the closet door and there was a huge cockroach, the garbage disposal was also broken upon arrival, half of the outlets didn’t work, I couldn’t even check the breaker box either because when they “renovated” they did an awful job and sprayed it shut so I had to call maintenance, you can tell they hired someone to do the job fast and for a cheap price. A month into our lease with our newly renovated apartment the shower rotted and the paint started coming up and then when it came time to fix it it took a week so we couldn’t shower for a week when we were told it would take two days and then they tried blaming us for it taking so long. The place was infested with cockroaches and ants and the screens for the windows don’t fit so bugs were able to get in through the screen and instead of giving me a new screen they tried bending it to fit the window correctly. The windows also don’t even close completely. There was such a huge gap in-between the door and door frame we could see outside and several times I saw geckos run through the door, when I called maintenance they put a foam sticker on the door so it was sealed on one of the four sides of the door but then we couldn’t lock our apartment because it was too big. The power goes out almost every night so our fans shut off and you wake up sweating because there also is no A/C. There are so many things wrong with this apartment and these aren’t even all of them. Finally we had our parents call because we are paying $2,400 for a two bedroom apartment we should not have these issues. Once our parents called they tried putting the blame onto us for things and when it was in regards to something they lied about they said that has to do with the leasing agent and once we sign the lease they have nothing to do with us anymore. They brushed everything off and aren’t doing a single thing for us. Our shower is peeling up again and they offered to buy us a SHOWER MAT. We pay $2,400 we don’t want a $5 shower mat, we want a shower that’s not disgusting. We want to pay for the utilities we use not for what others use, we want parking that’s not half a mile away or right under a tree where our car gets COVERED in bird poop, we want to be able to use our pool and gym, we don’t want bugs in our apartment, we don’t want to have to call maintenance every day. DO NOT BE FOOLED WHEN TOURING THESE APARTMENTS. DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE!!!

The new apartment buildings are nice and clean and and the new gym is nice but SADLY that’s all that’s good about this place. Parking yes parking just like the other reviews its a HUGE issue here it’s true they rather have open spots for months I have 2 right next to me literally. instead of letting me use them or “rent “ them out I called and they said no. If you have two cars your gonna spend hours looking for parking outside on the street by the complex. And ohh I’ve seen so many people getting tickets and the police is always coming around looking for people who park in the no parking spots.

Wish I could give it zero stars. This place is the most frustrating place to live when it comes to parking. The only good thing about it is the maintenance who always work hard and fix our problems right away. Like a lot of other people, we were told we could have more than one vehicle upon moving in. Now they tell you that you can only have one vehicle on the property and there is nothing else they can do for you. This seems a bit outrageous if you ask me considering all the open parking spaces I see every day and the people who are willing to pay to park there. Leasing office is no help in trying to be considerate and giving out more parking spaces. Now my husband’s car got towed and had to borrow mine to go to work which won’t work for long since I’m also about to start a new job. I would definitely NOT recommend anyone sign here unless you love being screwed over. Or at least pay extra attention to what you’re signing for and make sure they don’t screw you over like they do a lot of others residents here. Can’t wait for our lease to be up so we can move somewhere better. It’s sad also because I see a lot of hard working military members and there families living here and no one should be treated this way.

They all even know my dog’s name! The maintenance staff is always working so hard and creating a beautiful environment for us to enjoy. The security staff is invested in the residents and our experience and it shows!I have had no issues. Seriously, none.I read the negative reviews and personally do not recognize anything they are talking about, (no offense to anyone intended). The parking and laundry are easy and user friendly. The gym and pool are beautiful. It is an extremely dog-friendly place, and dog parents socialize wonderfully.Commutes are easy from here. This is the place for you if you can follow basic directions/guidelines and behave in a kind manner (not the spot to have tons of guests coming and going, that’s where people have parking struggles I believe). Thanks MHA. Giving one star because although the gym and pool are very nice, and the new buildings are beautiful (I live in one), the leasing office is very deceptive. When my husband and I toured the apartment (we toured the building with the gym and pool), we were told that we were moving into THAT specific building, down the hall from the model room we toured. On our move-in day, we were placed in a building that our leasing agent never even mentioned. Like other reviews on here, there is very little parking for how many residents there are -- unreserved spots that is. There are many reserved spots but a lot of them are vacant and they do NOT let people that need them have them; this also goes for the parking in the parking garages attached to the new buildings...so many empty spaces that no one else can use even residents, like me, who live in the building that the garage is attached to...On top of this, guest parking has HOURS. Youd think that because guests cant park in the guest parking past 1 AM the residents can park in those spots after those hours, right? WRONG. They will tow. We were also told that we could get a second pass for $80/year, which isnt bad at all compared to other places on island, but when we tried to get the second pass they told us we couldnt get one. We are definitely moving once our lease is up because this is not worth the stress! Not only is the staff liars, they are also rude. The custodian will turn the lights off on you in the gym before closing hours, even if youre lifting heavy weights! Do not move to these apartments.

My only 2 issues with this place is the parking and the utilities. Parking is very limited here. It seems that there is more reserved parking than there is unreserved parking and you cant pay for a reserved spot unless youre disabled which bothers me a lot because most of those reserved spots dont look very helpful for disabled people. If you work later than 9PM dont even bother looking for parking because there wont be any, at least not any close to your building that is. Thats very frustrating especially after a long day at work. The other thing is utilities, I should be paying for the gas, electricity, and water that I personally use not sharing the bill with all the other tenants that live in the same building as me. No matter how efficient you are with how much water, electricity, and gas you use. Youre paying almost the same amount in utilities every month still which gets very annoying and and aggravating real quick.

My wife and I stayed here for a 1-year lease and thought the apartments and management were above satisfactory. Anytime we had a maintenance issue it was resolved within 24 hours. The security team was always pleasant and eager to help with any situation. The place is extremely affordable, so unfortunately, this attracts the lesser educated/ignorant/lower income tenants. Everyone has a dog and it seems like only half of them clean up after their pet. The sides of your vehicle will be covered in dings and dents from other car doors. Our neighbor threw a party in his studio several nights a week with bass bumping and people yelling at each other throughout the night and early morning. We witnessed an assault occur on Ala Kapuna involving a woman slapping a man over a road rage incident. With all that said, If I had to move back to O’ahu, I’d probably pay more to live in a better area.

I have been here for the past two weeks, and it has been okay. To begin with, we were told and under the impression of living in the front building on the side of the leasing office, cause the agent toured us in a room within that area, but during our move in date, she took us elsewhere and we were confused. She also pointed to the wrong building and as we entered, people were living in there. So my boyfriend and I had to figure out which apartment we were going into. On top of that, this leasing agent does not respond to any emails. I’ve been notifying and asking her about extra parking, but she wouldn’t respond at all. We’re willing to pay the extra cost, but she lacks communication. I hope these individuals realizes how many bad reviews they are receiving and they improve as I see no improvement from the previous reviews. Lesson learned.

There are lots of issues for various reasons such as utilities, you are getting billed depending on your building’s over all utility usage and divide it among the occupants of each apartments. No matter how thrifty you are when it comes to using your electricity, stove and etc you’re still getting billed more than you expected, so you are basically paying someone else’s utilities right under your nose. Parking is very tricky because there are more reserved stalls than open ones, tenants are also forced to park on the curb side of the road when they don’t get parking spots. If you have more than 2 cars for a viable reason you won’t be able to find parking outside of the property due to limited parking spots you may be able to park outside near the property however, there aren’t many because it is occupied from other tenants. They also tow cars without any warning due to the reason that your car isn’t “on their system” or incompatible decal.

We DO NOT have our own meters and none of us are SUPPOSED to have air conditioners. There are NO washer and dryers in the units. We have a community laundry center and we pay to use the washer and dryers PLUS we STILL PAY for the electricity/ water it TAKES to run the community laundry with our utilities! And, be prepared to look for parking EVERY NIGHT if you come home past 7pm. NO assigned parking and NOT ENOUGH spaces. Im about to move out and have been told that I have to professionally strip and wax the floors when it was not done before we moved in. The unit wasn’t cleaned before move in, the carpets smelled like dog pee when we arrived as of recently we had a rat chew through our wall. They covered up the 2” hole with a 12”x24” piece of recycled wood. The place is absolutely disgusting and I would steer clear of signing a lease here... On top of that, when you decide to move out, YOU are responsible for looking for the next tenant. Thats what they dont tell you. We made the decision to move into the new building and pay over $2500 based on the amenities that would be available early 2018 not late 2018! We have attempted to bring what we consider as misrepresentation and false advertisement to the attention of local management, however there seems to be no concern for what we have to say. Pool and Gym is phenomenal and they also have grills for tenant use, seems that whatever problems they had have been remedied from what I see The grounds lobby area pool ect are always clean and kept in great condition I also wanna mention that Julie is polite and is always Willing to help if any small hiccup comes up but overall Id give Moanalua a 4 only because of the size of the Studio but Im picky and brutally honest when things arent tip top and here for Us its been a great Experience and Id love to thank the smiling faces in the office and one thats not so friendly for making our time here most Pleasant Id give Moanalua Hillside Apartments a 9/10.

Loud motorcycles and cars running early mornings, disturbing the morning sleep along with nasty people who leave their trash in front of their apartment doors while roaches and ants climb up the stairway to the trash. Lazy tenants dont pick up their dogs poop and its all its all over the grass area. The worst place I have ever stayed at!! I dont recommend this place to anyone!!

Its bad. The construction is annoying and loud that I have to wear noise cancelling headphones with white noise to save my hearing. The screens and doors are not secure and make me feel uneasy. Luckily we have nothing of value. Probably because we spend all money on the high rent that keeps hiking up and up and up.The broken pipe outside our door is still not fixed no matter how much we brought it up. They told us they were ordering parts for it, no parts came and no word from them. We just continue to get sink run off from the rest of the building since we live on the bottom.Suds and pieces of food flood the front door like a lake. Sometimes it gets under the door.Flies are a problem. Especially drain flies for us. The paint is so bad we had to chisel the power box open because they painted over it.Dont even try leaving your house after 4-5pm either. Because you will not come home to any open spots. If you want to do anything, be a vampire and only leave at 2am. I feel trapped here. That and when people are at work, is the only time the parking lot isnt stuffed full. All because the construction workers will take up a whole row of resident parking with their machines. Which brings me to my next point..They are building the new studio apartments, and have forgotten about all the people who live in the older buildings. They painted our buildings white just to look decent for the new renters.Cigarette smoke from neighbors... ugh unavoidable. Because the windows have to be open 24/7 to survive. The place is cheaply made and very not worth the price we pay every month.Havent tried the pool because Im pale but theres some party people there every evening.Speaking of party people, neighbors party like mad. They get away with it too. Security doesnt know. The utlity bills are outrageous. Why am i paying so much for trash and sewage?! Most of my neighbors in my building left because they couldnt take it anymore. If they try to charge us more for utilities not used... I will scream.I tried to bring up concerns with the management but they either blocked me or they arent always in the office or something. If I could give this place a negative rating i would give it a -5 star. DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS MONEY PIT, PEOPLE.

I initially liked the rent, but found out it is based on occupancy and would go up once my husband transferred. This was also the case with utilities. It is centrally located which is a plus. Kacey in the leading office is super sweet and helpful. Some of the downsides of the apt: no AC units allowed (only fans) and it gets hot, when you open your windows you get a breeze that smells like cigarette smoke or what someone is cooking for lunch down below. At night you can hear car alarms going off or engines starting up loud, or the beep that alerts the driver the doors are locked. The WORST part was the roaches crawling over my entire apt the first week I arrived. The big ones! Supposedly, the apt had fumigated before I arrived which I found Very hard to believe. They were crawling everywhere, walls, ceilings, floors, closets, pillowcase, even on the stove burners. I bought numerous traps and I didnt dare take any food into my apt. (Eating out constantly added up). It was so bad I had to stay in a hotel for multiple nights yet the apt complex only paid for one night. Even after fumigation I still had HuGe roaches. Not impressed and not getting any sleep. The apt complex scheduled another fumigation (which only happen on Fridays). 👎👎

Wish I could give less stars. The apartment is falling apart, it’s a cheap paint job and was tearing probably the first week living here. Cabinets are falling off and maintenance takes forever to respond. The front office doesn’t make it any better, they have the worst customer service skills. The worst part has to be my electricity bill which is always $300 or more. When I only use my fan and keep my lights off all the time. Or that my neighbors smoke in the staircase and their house so all that smoke comes up to my apartment. Don’t get me started on parking which is first come first service. So don’t plan on finding a parking spot if u get home after 8 pm. This is probably the worst apartment I’ve lived in and don’t recommend to anyone. Especially military, u will get ripped off.

If the 1.8 star rating isnt enough to keep you from moving here you should reas this! My wife and I moved here in March and it is nothing like it seems. You cant blast your favorite music IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY someone WILL COMPLAIN!!! This place is full of disappointment. DO NOT MOVE HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT! You only can use spectrum for cable and they are outrageously expensive. Maintenance is lazy and rude our tub was backing up and they used liquid plumber 3 times before I refused to let them use that again and I wanted the line snaked. NOT TO MENTION THERE IS ALWAY DOGS BARKING AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND NIGHT. Washroom is full of water because the washing machines leak water in my building and 2 dryers are broken and there is only one place ON THE WHOLE PROPERTY THAT YOU CAN REFILL YOUR WASH CARD. Parking is terrible first come first serve and they make you pay for a parking pass without being able to guarantee that you will have a parking stall. Pet rent is per month. Rude ass people set off fireworks in the parking lot of the building while drinking. I hate this place.

First apartment and management sucks. My vehicle was towed because i didn’t have my decal on. But was told when i moved in that security needed my registration so if there is an issue they would be able to look up my file and see my registration was there and my car was ok. They decided they were giving me courtesy And would pay for my truck to be release but when i told them that i already got my vehicle they couldn’t do anything for me. 🤔🤔 Maybe you could jus give me that money or better yet take it out of my rent old the following month. When i was battling over the phone about the issue in the beginning the reps i spoke to stories didn’t add up. One of the managers was lyin and seemed like she was trying to cover so they didn’t have to pay. This was jus a little issue they could have jus apologized for and gave me something for my inconvenience But instead they rather say it’s all your fault and not take ownership for a flaw in their own system.

The apartment itself is made so very cheap. My drawers and handles would just fall off. My tile was never waxed, which I was charged for upon moving out. There is no central air, and it is not sealed well, so lots of bugs. The staff is very unknowledgeable and it all seems like a huge scam. I moved out and never got my deposit back. I was so done with the place that I didnt care, until months later. I got a letter in the mail saying I owed them $400!! So now that is on my credit report, and I never got any deposit back... that was my first EVER apartment so Lesson learned to read reviews before moving.

I wish I red the reviews before moving in, because now I’m experiencing living hell! My neighbors screaming at each other, yell at their kids, banging, kicking the wall since 6am it’s 7:14am now I banged the wall really hard about 30 min ago to let them know they woke me up again, seems they don’t care also it’s been from day one since I moved in and I told them in elevator they keep waking me up, that was 2 weeks ago!! They don’t care it’s every day from 6 am to midnight!! So disrespectful no class makes me think how 4 people can live in 350sf studio?! And has to yell each other from feet a way ????!!! Every day all day !And about the PARKING I red all over here I experienced as well, first 5 days I moved in I didn’t have own parking first 2 days there was other white toyota so after calling security I was told someone else got the parking as well!! Than I got other parking but there was 15 passengers bus!! And had couple threatening me at 11 pm if I don’t move my car is going to be all banged up scratched or tow a way. It was on Saturday and I was told they cannot do anything until Monday so If my car get damaged to use my insurance!!!!So I was looking for a parking for over 30 min far a way from my building around midnight after buying most of my moving in stuff. Finally on day 5 I got my 3th parking which front desk lady said “ I put you very far from the bus from those people “telling me Im too picky and don’t like the parking they give me!! Like it’s my fault they put 2 cars on one parking!!! Now my parking Is in front of a door in next building not by my building, which is funny because a guy from the building I park by walks all the way from my building asked me to switch our parking...Also first week my electric key didn’t work I had to climb a wall to other side of the building to get in my apartment. That was first thing I didn’t mind as much but than it got very uncomfortable with the parking and my neighbors. Im sitting here 2 h now the neighbors still yelling!!!! Normally I’d wake up around 10 am I go sleep at 2 am but get disturbed around 6-8 am every morning!!!I’ve been here 18 days moved from another island have no place to go but imagining to live here especially with the noisy disrespectful neighbors for whole year is impossible. I tried ear plugs, talk to them nice or notify them they are too loud they have been ignoring me!!!I told the leasing office about 2 weeks ago but I think It has to be in writing, so I’m waiting for the office to open...When I was signing my lease I hear other people complaining about neighbors having nightmares every night screaming all night and were asking to change apartment. I should reconsider but thought It wouldn’t happen to me...

We went for a showing, and while the houses seem nice, youre paying well over 2 thousand dollars a month (with utilities) for a place without any laundry hook ups and is really small! Plus, the agent who showed us around kept calling and emailing me after the showing, very annoying and shows how desperate they are. This place is not worth the time or the money, none of these complexes are. Royal Kunia, Kalaeloa, Oasis, Moanalua Hillside; theyre all a huge SCAM. Run away before they charge you for some sort of damage you didnt do.

I live here and it sucks. There is a pipe outside our door that leaks kitchen sink water full of suds and food all over our front door. We called to try and get if fixed but nothing has happened. The neighbors say this has been an issue for a long time now and that they will never fix it. So basically if you want landlords who care about the quality of your apartment dont move here. The water exiting the pipe attracts gnats like crazy and sometimes it flows under the front door and it gets the inside if the apartment, damaging the floor and tiles. Another downside to this place is that there is barely enough parking for everyone, you get a sticker allowing you to park in certain places but if you go anywhere after 8pm expect to not find any parking until 5am. One time I drove around all night looking for a parking spot and when I asked the staff what to do they said look harder. So the staff doesnt care about tenants either apparently. Finally lets talk about the construction thats going on, if you move here any time in 2017 or early 2018 expect to hear construction work all day every week day. They are building some studio apartments that are rediciolously overpriced right next to all the other buildings. Also if you want to get more into it they are doing concrete repairs that have trapped a lot of people in their apartments. I had to climb up a 7 foot tall steep grassy slope just to get to work because they destroyed the stairs to repair them days later. Our neighbor who cant walk without assistance from a walker was trapped inside their apartment for days. I know this may only last for a few weeks but things like this can hopefully help people decide weather they want to live here or not. Overall the staff doesnt care about anything unless it involves you giving them money. They wont fix anything unless its mandatory even if it causes damage to the floors which Im probably going to have to pay for knowing how these people are. If your considering living here then just look somewhere else. Just take my advice and live anywhere but here! Seriously! There are much cheaper and better places even down in Waikiki, there are as many people doing drugs here as there are down there.Edit 10/11/2017 : these guys keep removing the pictures that I took of a pipe leaking next to my apartment door. I have tried reposting these photos over ten times because people deserve to know what this place really looks like. They will take down any negative photos that are posted. Moanalua hillside apartments is only getting worse. Dont rent here!

One star for location and one for conveniency. This WOULD be the perfect place IF parking wasnt such a hassle and if the staff actually cared about their residents.I have lived at MHA for a year and a half and at first it seemed nice. Then everything started to fall apart. The cabinets starting falling off their hinges, plumping issues arised, roaches started moving in and getting any issue resolved seem impossible. Ive had my main door handle completely brake and wasnt able to open it at all. Luckily I was able to climb out the window since I lived at the bottom but just imagine if I didnt. I would have been better off calling 911 then the staff. The staff never answers the phone!!! I had to come home for lunch to actually speak to someone face to face to report a work order. The pools always seemed to be closed for cleaning however it always seems dirty. The parking SUCKS and is damn near impossible to have any guests. Guest parking is so scarce, residents park their vehicles in a guest parking to be able to ensure a parking space. The gym is very small and always seemed to have key issues. Security doesnt do much and tend to let anyone and everything in the gate. Tow trucks are prompt every night at 1 am and will wake you. You can hear EVERYTHING outside and residents are constantly speeding up and down the street, over taking, and inconsiderate of anyone pulling out. Kids roam free unsupervised and will gladly wake you from a nap you started to take.Rent was raised after a year their for no reason. The laundry room is a huge inconvenience. Machines always seem to be breaking and to load your laundry card, there is only one location to do so at the bottom of the hill. Construction is loud and seem to be never ending. The volleyball area and lower pool was removed so dont look forward to that either. The floors sucked and was not done right. Gunk oozed out the cracks of the floors and was very annoying and would not go away no matter how many times I scraped it. There is no ventilation in the bathroom just a small window. No a/c is allowed and trust me when I say its hot and humid in the summer. The hospital down the road must not have much parking either because employees park on street parking so if you arent by a certain time good luck trying to save a spot for guest.Good luck renting here. Convenient for location and commute. But very inconvenient to live! Choose wisely.

Initially it wasnt bad, considering the location, which is pretty close to anywhere else on the island. I can get to downtown offices in about 20 mins. in rush hour traffic by using shortcuts I know about. The view from my living room window is of the beach and the ocean. In the 7 months Ive been here, other than the tiny invisible ants, I have seen no bugs. Ive lived in Hawaii all my life and to NOT have seen a B-52 in that time in my house is amazing. And I do keep my house very clean. The utility bills are apportioned by how many residents there are in an apartment and and how large the apartment is. They are the least expensive, especially for electricity, Ive paid. As for Mr Lukes posted comment about gooks, breeding like rabbits, etc., I guess he wont be long for anywhere in Hawaii-nei. We are, after all, a pretty multi-racial society here. Sorry for your racism.BUT--I have had my car run into 3 times now & of course no notes to say heres my info, call me and my insurance company will take care of it. I take pride in my car and Ive worked hard to customize it, only to have an inconsiderate jerk of a neighbor pull into it 3 times in 7 months. I read the other complaint about this same issue from someone else too.2 mos. ago, my son accidentally locked us out of the bathroom. We only have one & it was 3 am. Called after hours emergency maintenance person who told me it wasnt an emergency. Had to walk to the pool to use the broom. Next morning one of the leasing office staff called maintenance who told him it would be $50 to open it. I know most people can open the inside locks with a paper clip or ice pick, its not a locksmith job. The deadbolt I can understand (kind of) charging to unlock the door. But a freaking bathroom door? No way! A friend was coming at 9 am and he unlocked it in less than 5 mins.Maintenance--with the exception of that one man--has always been prompt professional and polite. The grounds are generally clean though some of the other people who have dogs need to remember to clean up after the dogs. The laundry rooms charge too damned much for washing and drying clothes. They dont allow a/c units and the ceiling fans in the b/rms are good but there is no cross ventilation in the lvg rm and no ceiling fans so it gets really HOT. Also, no dishwashers, the fridges are old and cheap and ditto the stoves. But they are gas so that gets extra points. Also theres a well-equipped, well-maintained gym, volleyball courts, BBQ area w/ good grills, and 2 swimming pools. The place used to be military housing--like the housing across the freeway at AMR--that was bought out by a real estate investment firm, re-habbed as cheaply as possible and rented out to anyone, military or not. There are several rental housing projects on Oahu with the same story. Here, Ewa Beach, Kapolei, Kaneohe--all former military housing now owned by large, mainland companies who dont care about the quality of peoples lives very much. But they do make major $$ from people, many of them military because the military housing allowance for Hawaii beats anything that most local people can pay. So they jack up the rents accordingly. The rent is EXORBITANT for a 2 bd/1 ba apt. Even in this location, its too high. To hear that come my lease renewal date I may have to pay way more doesnt sound good. And not to have a garage, deck or balcony, a/c, Makes me want to start looking again. NOW!**I moved from here 9/2016 after existing in this hellhole far too long. They were INCREDIBLE a**hol** when I was attempting to get moved out, my apartment cleaned & all the rest. I had hired the company they use to clean. They found out & threatened to cancel the companys contract if they cleaned my apt. The company canceled out on me regretfully. The result is that I left all the stuff I didnt want & turned in the keys. They never had the slightest intention of refunding my deposit. The one person I trusted in Resident Services told senior management I hired the company they use to clean for me. Worth it to be gone.
