It may not be PC to say this, but gym staff really ought not fulfill the stereotype of ‘dumb jock’ - alas, that is what I encountered at LA Fitness.As I live in hope that I will find a location with a swimsuit spinner to dry my suit after swimming, and a pool that does not smell like it’s a mix of some water and a lot of chlorine; I must admit my defeat this day. Yet another example of an “I got a membership here so I can feel good about paying for a gym, not because this is a place I want to spend anytime at all.”So disgusted I can’t even contemplate exerting any effort in a facility that is merely an opportunity to bilk people of their money.

I have been taking my grandson for private swim lessons at LA Fitness through safe splash. My grandson loves it and has learned so much in a short amount of time. David is so good with kids and is a great instructor! Highly recommend safe splash!

This gym is pretty great so far. It’s super spacious, most of the staff is open and friendly to talking and there’s an open feeling to the gym to roam around and just do your thing. I actually ended my 1 week trial at the Beaverton location and so glad I signed up for the Hillsboro one. Way nicer!

Edited 9/14/21So far, so good,I read reviews and, I was afraid that I was going to find an angry manager around. I have been working out here since covid19 let the gym to reopen this year (2021). At first, I was hesitant about signing up at LA Fitness but after a few months working out here and at different times, I can get my workouts done and, I have never found the place super busy to the point that I have to wait for equipment.

So it’s nothin bad about the gym itself because working out there is not the problem at all and I’ve been goin to the gym for a while and I’ve created a special bond wit everyone in there and built a family throughout time and one of my bestfriends one of the best general managers you’ll ever come across upon just got transferred to another location and let me tell you I was not happy and I think it’s wrong, it’s not right at all that you take someone who has already created many relationships and has a bond wit everyone in there so just because of that this has definitely changed the way I look at things in that gym and will not be the same no more.

Well, I moved out of state and called a cuople times because when they re-opened they started the regular billing even after I moved. Employees kept telling me to contact their manager nothing regarding canceling. I was getting charged but since those were tough times, I left the billing for that month and called for a freeze. Apparently they froze it until they felt appropriate. One year after, they kept charging and charged me the yearly membership including two months. Anyhow, make sure you are aware about their cancellation. No offer of refund... I even asked nicely but evaded the question right away with a you cut me off while trying to explain. Hi manager, I know you will read this review. Next time, train your personnel on how to approach in this situation. You work for a giant corporation, you do not own the business; trying to talk nicer does not mean you are trying to be nice. Over-explaining the obvious does not resolve the issue. Cancellation is made thru a pdf form that the website generate and then you have to mail it LOL. Just make it official in your website, why making it so difficult?

I’d like to preface this critical review by saying that I love this location! It’s very clean, well organized and my experience with the staff (with this one exception) has been great. I am leaving a 1 star review due to the horrendous service of Amy, the manager at the front desk. My girlfriend got a membership last week and was told by another manager that we could play racquetball together as long as we live in the same residence (which we do and have valid ID to prove it). We worked out early in the day and returned in the evening to play some racquetball. We signed in and checked in with Amy to make sure that a) it’s okay for us to play together, and b) to make sure that she knew that we lived together as a courtesy, rather than just stepping on the court together unannounced. Before My girlfriend could even finish her sentence, Amy responded saying NO! I thought she was kidding at first, but she then slammed down a piece of paper on the counter that must have had Covid restrictions, and just kept saying NO and that if she let us go, it would create a gray area and cause ALL KINDS of confusion and it would make other people upset. My girlfriend pointed to the manager that told her otherwise just to see if there was some sort of miscommunication or so she could at least ask him. Before my girlfriend could finish her sentence, Amy cut her off and said “I AM the manager and I said NO!” My girlfriend even responded saying something along the lines of “wait... actually?” An employee that overheard the situation mentioned that someone had quit that day and she had been working a long shift and people were being mean to her all day. I have a big problem with that. I have worked a handful of customer service jobs myself, including being a manager at Macy’s during Black Friday several years before Covid (talk about busy and stressful), and I have never seen a Manager react so unprofessionally. My girlfriend mentioned to me the day she signed up that Amy snapped at her and told her to sit down the day she signed up and wait. Luckily, she was helped by another employee who mentioned it had been a very busy day. I have no problem with her rejecting us from playing racquetball, to me that is reasonable. But as a manager, it sets an aweful impression on people passing by and new members. I am honestly shocked that she’s been able to move up the corporate ladder at LA and that she’s maintained her job. Manager work is not for everyone, and Amy is clearly not cut out to be a manager. If she can’t manage her stress and attitude, she should be doing something else. Covid is stressful as it is, and we certainly don’t need people like Amy in charge to exacerbate the already elevated stress. I hope that someone above her sees this review and coaches her. I’d hate for her to lose her job because of a couple of bad days, but from what I’ve seen from my experience, as well as with several other reviews, she has no business being a manager anywhere that involves any sort of customer contact.

I am some one who has had multiple lung surgeries. I had called 4 times to speak to someone about putting a hold on my account. Each time that I called I got a different answer on when the Jaime the training manager would be back. One said in an hour when I called at 12. One said 3, the other said he was in a meeting. When I finally got ahold of Jaime he said his lunch is from 12-4. I don’t care that it took tome but I don’t like that no one could give me a correct answer. When I spoke with Jaime he said that he will put a hold. The next day I was charged. During these times... I NEED that money. I called the day I was charged to get this corrected. Jamie then proceeded to tell me it has to go to his manager and I will get a call that day. It has no been 4 days since putting that request in. I am being asked to go in to cancel my membership. I HAVE HAD 2 LUNG SURGERIES. What makes you think I should go in When Cases are rising.

Extremely clean. Large facility, nice equipment, a huge plethora of bar racks, dumbbells, treadmills, etc. Very nice pool and basketball court, too. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.Like any gym, theyre going to try to get you to do personal training, refer friends and family, etc., but theyre not pushy, and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable.Can get busy at times, but its never a huge issue. Clientele are considerate and many are experienced athletes, so wont crowd you.

Was a good place, but opened too early. Contacted them, spoke to Austin and was told a freeze would be put on, it wasnt until a week later when I called again. Was charged 2x in June, was told one was a yearly fee that we were not aware of, and one was a monthly charge after we asked them to freeze. Asked Austin to just cancel our membership, was told we would get a call back next day. Nothing, no credits, called again, spoke to Pedro who told us something different. Basically everyone tells you what you want to hear and none of it is the same, so the left does not know what the right is doing. I think we are getting a credit for one of the june charges, I have no idea. So disappointed in this place because aside from the staff the place is good.

So far my experience here has been really good. I love that they have child care and most of the employees have been really amazing with my little one. It’s always really clean, they have plenty of machines, and everyone is really friendly. The only thing I don’t like is you can’t access a variety of HIIT training tools (bands, kettle bells, boxes, etc.) unless you pay for personal training. That to me has kinda sucked.

Very poor customer service and handling of lost and found items during the covid-19 pandemic. Their policy does state that items left overnight are not allowed. This was verbally addressed by the sales staff who sold the membership who clearly stated we are OK with you leaving items overnight, but do not leave for more than one night. Shame on me for listening to a trusted staff member of LA Fitness and shame on them for promoting that looseness of their policy. It was highly convenient for them to exercise their written policy when members who chose to follow it had no chance to collect their items after the announced immediate club closure. My addressed concerns were belittled by a very rude Member Service Manager whose goal was to get me off the phone without providing any consolation for my concerns with their policy and how it was handled during a global time of crises.

Due to Covid, we are not ready to come to LA fitness and train anymore. I have called several times to corporate office to talk to someone about this, but even after staying on line for 1.5 hours, nobody answered.And LA fitness is continuing to charge me for personal training and membership even after we told them to put account on Hold.Its ridiculous.

The facility is nice. However, the sales team let us tour with our son and let us talk about playing basketball as a family and never corrected us. Come to find out children are allowed in the childcare section and thats it! We signed up for swimming lessons and as members were not even allowed to use the changing room to get our toddler/infant ready for swim class. I didnt expect this to be like Villa Sport or Clubsport but its completely NOT family friendly. Bummer the sales person let us think that.

I am a new member and its ok. I would probably rate it higher, however when I got a call from someone wanting to schedule a free orientation session with a trainer, I declined. Upon doing that, the rep became pushy and slightly rude. Also, in the short time I have been there, they had signs posted about the pool being closed. They should have said the pool *area* (including the jacuzzi) but they did not. Also, they really should have a communication alert sent to peoples mobile apps for when services would be unavailable. There is no reason not to do this as it could save some folks a trip. The locker rooms are showing signs of decay in the concrete / tiling areas. The hours for me are good, but if you like later hours (especially on weekends), this is definitely not for you. If you are going to sign up, do it online. Dont do it in person. You will save yourself a lot of time and pressure. Keep in mind that they have a cancellation process that makes it a little more difficult, but that isnt the end of the world. Just dont expect deviation from that process.

BEWARE of the sales team shady business practices and always read before you sign.I was offered unlimited guest passes as part of my contract, which would allow me to bring in family members and friends for FREE. However, after signing the contract and reviewing it twice over I noticed a small clause under services showing that I was not given the unlimited guest passes! Instead they gave me V.I.P. passes which is included with all memberships. V.I.P. includes a 14 day free gym pass through referral and is not unlimited!If you choose to cancel your membership, do so quickly! Oregon has a law under consumer protection which allows rescission within three days of signing your contract. This will guarantee a FULL REFUND! This goes for all Fitness Clubs & Health Spas in the state of Oregon.

Since they remodeled this LA Fitness near my home I rejoined. It is now clean, well organized and the ladies locker room is much better. The pool and spa are being maintained well too. I go mostly to use the saline pool and really enjoy coming there again. Its always been pretty friendly, but now it is all around a good experience.

Clean for the most part, but sometimes the paper towel dispensers arent restocked and you have no way to wipe down the machines. I wish theyd switch to wet wipes in those cylindrical dispensers. The convenience of quickly pulling a wipe out would prompt more people to clean their machines.

I like this gym, love my trainer. Katey is great! They just redid the place a couple months ago, so its nice inside with some newer equipment.The thing I like most is that they have a designated room for people working with a personal trainer (if you arent working on equipment), so you dont have to feel silly while you struggle through your basics in front of everyone who already knows what theyre doing.

I switched over from Xtreme Edge / International Fitness to LA Fitness. It was a great decision. I really like the facility. There are many amenities. The reason why Im not giving full 5 stars is because there isnt enough of mat area for personal workouts and stretching. Also the group exercise schedule and options are pretty insubstantial.

The rates are very reasonable. The only reason Im a member is because of the racquetball. They even have dry sauna, Jacuzzi, indoor swimming pool and many more at the same price. Would recommend this instead of any other expensive gyms.

I have been going to Hillsboro L.A. Fitness for about a year and a half, and for the most part the gym is adequate. However, they keep the gym warmer than I care for, they dont fix things quickly, they could keep the place (especially the classroom) cleaner, and they cancel and move classes without participant input.If I compare services to price, they get 3 stars from me.Im sure there are worst gyms and better gyms out there.

It is a nice and clean gym with all the facilities. They have classes such as yoga, pilates, cycling, boot camp conditioning, body works plus abs. The schedule of the classes could be better managed considering working individuals. Early morning classes would be great. Also, I recently realized that I am paying way more amount each month compared to others. Make sure you are aware before you take their membership. Also the staff here isnt very helpful/ friendly.

Quality gym, Ive been there about 6 months now and have enjoyed it. I found a 2 week free trial online and went in to check it out. Theyre salesmen, so theyll hit you with the we have a great deal for you if you sign up TODAY! I didnt buy it, as I was assuming the great deal would still be there in 2 weeks and I need some time to get a feel for the place.I got a good rate for 2 years paying zero up front, as I dont anticipate moving anytime soon. Make sure you read the contract though, as canceling is a little tricky and costly (you can see by most of the reviews on here that people didnt read the contract thoroughly...).As for the gym itself, it suits my needs perfectly. Dont come right after work (5-7pm) as its crazy busy and even finding parking is tough, but any other time its never too busy. Staff has all been incredibly friendly while Ive been there. Good selection of machines and free weights, and the cardio area looks pretty good (not there too often :P). Plus theres a pool and a basketball court. I havent taken any personal training but you see the guys and gals all over the gym working out their clients, and it appears they know what theyre doing.Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I feel the hours could be better. Closing at 10 on weekdays should be at least 11 or 12, and the early close times on weekends (8/9pm) suck. All around though its a good gym with good people. Just expect a sales pitch when you come in for a tour and dont sign up for the 5 year contract when you know youll be moving in a few months :).

Update 5/21/19: I got a call from Chris, one of the reps from LA Fitness today. This is the guy who is not in charge of new customers, but still took his time to hear my story and offered to help me figure out a way to fix it. Chris went above and beyond managing my case, he did what he could to get me an answer and finally process my refund. If I was a business owner I would very much like to hire this person because he knows how to thread a customer, with courtesy and respect.Original rating: 2 starsCurrent rating: +1 Star (this star is really a 5 star rating for Chris)----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I wanted to share with you all the bitter experience I had at LA fitness recently. Please read and judge yourself.I joined the club on a Sunday, taking advantage of a promo due to Mothers Day. I was assisted by a guy called CODY. Supposedly I had 7 days to cancel my membership and still get my money back if I didnt want to stay. Well, thats the beginning of the story...I trained for a few days on that week and the experience was satisfactory until Friday, when I realized the gym was closed at 9 PM on that day. Im a late trainer, so that was a deal breaker for me.On Saturday I went back to the club and tried to cancel my membership before the 7-day grace period. Unfortunately there was no one that could help me on that day, so a note was entered into the system that I had tried to cancel but they couldnt help because no sales person was working during the weekend (very strange because I signed up on a Sunday and CODY was working on that day).When I returned Monday, 8 days since my membership had been initiated, and once again CODY assisted me, only that this time when I explained that I wanted to cancel my membership and the reasons why, he didnt react quiet as nice as the first day. He asked me about the day I joined and when he saw it was 8 days ago he simply said he couldnt help me. When I inquired about someone else who could get me my full refund he said no one could, that I may want to try calling corporate but that wouldnt be a sure bet. I explained him that I tried to cancel on Saturday but he simply ended the conversation very harshly asking me to step aside to give my seat to a new customer waiting in the lobby. I couldnt believe the arrogant condescending attitude he showed, not honoring the fact that he wasnt there to help me 2 days ago. He even implied I was lying because he always mentions that cancellations can only be done Mon-Fri, which wasnt the case. When I said that hadnt been mentioned he got irritated and brought up the Contract. Apparently one of the clauses stipulates that after 7 days you cant cancel and get refunded (which I havent checked yet).To me, I felt disappointed, lied to, like he didnt care about my business at all. I want to emphasize that this behavior may not represent everyone working at this club, only the sales person in question, CODY.Finally when CODY left, someone else approached me and tried to help me. He didnt manage to actually get me a refund but guided me to continue raising this up. Also, this person listened to what I had to say and treated with respect, I did appreciate that.My advice to anyone who would like to give this club a try is:- get a free week pass and try it- do not believe anything CODY says, he is not trustworthy- read the contract before you sign, CODY would rub it on your face if you have any issues- verify the clubs hours are fine for you, for me it didnt work outYouve been warned.

Be aware of exactly what you are signing up for and make sure you write down any deals they verbally offered you cause what they say a s what the membership agreement says isnt the same.

I thought I had closed my account long ago but just realized they have still been billing me. I called and was told I had to come into a location to close my account.. Its Saturday at 2 PM and I go in to cancel but was told you can ONLY close and account Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. I work Monday - Friday 9-6 so thats impossible.. They gave me a form I have to mail in instead, no filling out or signing just a form to get lost in the mail so they can keep getting your money.

This gym is large and beautiful, but it gets ovedcrowded in the afternoon, and there is only one inclined bench press table. Furthermore, the gym closes at 9pm on Fridays, and 8pm on weekdays. Aside from the working hours, everything else is good for the money.

Id give 5 stars except the mens locker room floors are usually a mess. Just a daily sweep or vacuum would keep the floors clear of dust bunnies the size of golf balls and other items such as cue tips, paper towels random clothing and just plain grit from peoples shoes . Otherwise, great value.

Been going here 5+ years. It’s cheap and gets the job done but definitely not a high end club. Takes forever to fix things ( currently the sound system in the group fitness area has been not working correctly for over a week, ropes in personal training area unraveling, etc). There was once a problem with my bill (overcharged me) and it took me having 4 different conversations with different people and a month for them to fix it. In short. It’s a gym. It has equipment. The people are nice but can get overcrowded and not well maintained. Also. Beware of leaving things in the parking lot. No cameras.

Very friendly staff. Miguel, the janitor, is one of the hardest working people I have seen. Lots of classes offered so while the parking lot may be packed, the weights and machines should be available.

My problem with my experience had to do with another member and the way the staff handled the issue. Going through a lower body workout, pretty quickly I realized a pair of eyes from a man on the equipment behind me. This happens at every gym. I did my best to ignore it, but he was being very blatant about what he was doing. When I was finished with my sets, I began putting my stuff away and he said to me, “that’s a lot of stuff to put away, let me help you.” I told him I got it handled, and he walked over to my station anyways, this time I said in a much more stern tone, “I got it” and put my headphones back on, but he still continued to grab my stuff. Afterwards I decided I was going to treat this man as though he wasn’t there. I kept my headphones on and dodged eye contact with him. So whatever he said to me when he next approached me with his phone in his hands, will forever remain a mystery. I now moved to the hack squat machine, and this man moves over to a bench press directly behind me and continues to stare at me. In my discomfort after only 2 sets, I move over to the dumbbell area and this man now switches the way he is sitting on the bench from on the end watching me on the Hack Squat machine, to straddling the bench instead and watching me in the dumbbell area instead. At this point I go to the staff at the front desk and inform them of the situation, and that I’m uncomfortable. I can’t be the only person he has done this to, and I can’t be the only one to speak up.There was a young male and a young female working at the desk when I approached them. Both very kind, but from what I understand there wasn’t a manager working this day, and it’s situations like these that call for a manager to always be on duty, not just when the busy times are happening in the gym. The kind female at the desk offered me some empathy and said the same thing has happened to her, and she followed with, “I wish there was something we could do.” Here’s the thing, I work at a gym. There is something you can do. But once again, there not being a manager present, I don’t completely fault her. But I do know full well the list of things that could be done in those situations. The male said he would do his club walk, and if something seemed off he would say something. The male also responded when I got up there, “oh I think I know who this is. It’s the guy who does this to everyone.” Meaning they were fully aware of how one of their members is acting toward the other female members of the club.I go back to try and finish my routine but I’m still feeling uncomfortable and watching this man watch me like a hawk. I speak to the staff another few times, but my tipping point was when I decided to go into their empty group fitness room to finish my day with some band work. Easy escape right? There’s no weights in there for this man to pretend to use, so there’s no reason for him to follow me. Wrong. He followed me right in there. And when I aggressively grabbed my bag and stomped out of there to communicate “I see you and I’m very frustrated” he. Followed. Me. Out. Of. The. Room. At this point I grab my things and decide I’m going to 24 to finish my workout. On my way out I expressed to the front desk girl I’ve basically been running all over the gym trying to get away from this man and I’m being followed from corner to corner and I’m done putting up with it and going to finish my workout elsewhere. This is my 4th time communicating with the staff what is going on and she finally walked up to him and said he needs to be mindful. To which she then said “I wish we were able to get his information so I could make a note on his account but we can’t do that.” I work at a gym. Yes you can do that.My problem with this whole ordeal all together is simple. If you are aware this behavior is going on around you and you are choosing to ignore it, you are a part of the problem. I appreciate the towel and water bottle I was offered. But until I know that something was seriously done about this man, I won’t be back in, not even to finish my guest pass.

Great location(across from many other stores like Fred Meyer, Subway, Starbucks, UPS Store, etc.). Very reasonable monthly dues! But expect a no nonsense approach - No towel service, only soap in the showers(no shampoo or conditioner), you need a lock for your locker in the locker room. BUT the lockers are larger than other places! Low dues and LOTS of weight machines, treadmills, and elipticals. They also have a decent amount of group classes and a small lap pool (with water fit classes). Parking lot can be crowded but doesnt seem crowded inside. One objection I have is the hard sell on the personalized training program. But you can pass that up.

Great facility. But wish the order of the locker rooms was the same at all locations. This one has the mens locker room as the first on the right. Which makes a lot of sense. The one in Tualatin has it after the womens as the second door on the right.I use both locations depending on work that day. Caught my self heading to the wrong one a couple times.

Joined the gym about a month ago. I go to the one on Cornelius Pass and I have found it to be a very good gym. I see the cleaning guy cleaning well every night and I have never had any problems with it being overcrowded, though I usually go at night. The hours can get annoying, especially the 9 pm close on Friday and 8 pm close on Saturday. Overall, I am very happy and plan on keeping my membership for a long time.
