Whitehall Square Apartments is great for the floor plan but if u want to deal with POOR service and a moldy unit for you and your family than this is the place to be. You deal with the manager who has a terrible attitude and end up in a lease you want nothing to do with.UPDATE: Received a call from corporate who wanted to hear about my concerns, but when I tried to speak I kept getting interrupted and Suzette White had a TERRIBLE attitude. Nice way to handle things Kay Apartments πResponse from Owner UPDATE: I have emailed and called to get this handled. You can put this for Google review but youre not doing anything to handle my concerns!
Unique has been outstanding . Sweet pleasant voice she held every door for me and my family. Answered every question I had and I work leasing her training skills are immaculate I love it thank you
I had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. Unique, the new leasing consultant. She has a pleasant voice and tone. If I didnt live here already I would definitely lease from her!! Thank you Ms. Unique for your assistance.
Two many coach roaches never parking space. I still have question? Wow today I HAVE A MOUSE in the house greeting me this morning Wow thank to Mr. Kevin he removed it too may BUGS.....I havent been there for two month Wow really.
I canβt move here because when you call, you get attitude, rudeness, disrespect and yelled at for asking simple questions. Try to talk to anybody except for JUANITA in the office, you will get nowhere. I will go give my hard earned money to an apartment complex that deserves and appreciates it :)
I recently called to apply for a unit here and had a number of typical questions youre SUPPOSE to ask upon submitting an application . Some of which included income requirements, application fees, holding fees, availability, specials.. I got ALL attitude upon both times I called by Juanita. The first time I let it slide (people have bad days), but the second time I was offended. If youre bothered that you have a job to do that IS NOT the job for you. I showed no disrespect whatsoever and didnt deserve the attitude. All of my professionalism almost went out the window with that tone she was using. Furthermore, where are her co-workers, employees around her to correct that behavior?? Needless to say you all lost a very serious prospect who had every intention on applying within the week. Juanita you belong at Mcdonalds with that customer service (BEHIND THE COUNTER) !!
Update-Idk what is going on but these mice have basically taken over. So disgusted that this is what this apartment has become. I suspect they are being displaced because of the work they are doing in front of the building. Either way, I cannot wait to get out of here. I have called and emailed with no response. It is easier to get them to respond on reviews here than to fix this mice issue. Not the worst but things could be better. I live in the 4246 building way in the back. Pros, spacious bedroom, walk in closet, washer in unit, utilities included, big kitchen. Cons, parking, kind of old, towing, few mice...
Parking is my biggest issue here. Guests arent allowed to park here after 11pm and there are no visitor spaces and they dont allow you to have visitor passes. They could at least meet us halfway and allow one visitors pass per resident or allow you to get temporary passes or something.
If you are looking to rent here, this is the review that you are looking for. When I first moved into this complex (which was about 5 years ago) I was amazed by its brick wall, clean outside appearance and its overall space. (Feel free to estimate how much money Ive spent since living here, on top of Rent)I first had a problem with the electricity in my Master bedroom which took literally a year to fix. Soon after discovering that I had no functioning electricity. the security code on the door no longer worked for my building. the crime rate in the NEIGHBORHOOD was low, however the crimes rate in that REGION is fairly high. A security code to enter the building were one of the things that grounded me as a tenant. Shortly after, the front door would often be broken. The Wash and dryers have been upgraded (finally), but they literally take all of your money being as though you may have to rewash or dry the same item twice. After spending about a year there, I noticed that there was a slight rodent issue. It didnt bother me much as my expectations for apartments were that youll run into a mice or roach here and there (I know better now)*Now the fun stuff*I would like to say that for me and my household, we do not eat in our bedrooms... My home is very clean (I am barely there, I am young and often times i am at work, at school or hanging out with my friends)so there shouldnt be mice nesting in my bed.......I went and requested for pest control to come to my apartment and I had to of course purchase a new bed!! A few more weeks in, I began to notice movement in my brand new couch and again in my brand new bed.Ive come to the understanding that this is an infestation that I am dealing with and it is causing me money, I am working on my third bed since living here and second sectional sofa. I went to purchase a cat to help with this problem but whatever it is seems to frighten the cat to the point that she sometimes screeches and takes off running.I have yet to lay my eyes on a mouse but I have felt one crawl under me and must I say... this rodent is a lot bigger than what I probably imagined.I will say that their leasing office is flexible with tenants on late payments. I have yet to see a family evicted.I have been forced to pay month to month rent and am interested in moving because of amenities, or lack there of. Nothing is up to date, they have a huge rodent problem and their staff has a reputation of partying loudly in their apartments, smoking weed, and being rude.I have paid for my own pest control several times because the PC that is provided does a half a** job. I find it funny how you have to request for PC to come to your home instead of it being an automatic visitation. HOW CAN YOU KEEP PEST AWAY IF PEST CONTROL ISNT CONSISTENT??AND lets say that I do call for pest to visit, whos to say that my neighbor called as well?Ive been to my friends house in this neighborhood who has had rats run across her kitchen counter. This community is all looks and has turned into a nightmare! I can barely get my proper rest at night these days. praying to move soon.** Parking*:*If your car isnt registered to the lease holder... expect it to be towed, broken into, stolen or damaged as you will have to park your car on Suitland rd.Visitor passes for your guest are a no go unless they are visiting you from out of state.... hahahaI have family that comes down from Hagerstown, MD and Mchenry, MD. Because their tags were registered to MARYLAND they could not park in the complex. Those are 4 to 5 hour long rides into town for them to have the risk of being a victim of Grand Theft Auto. This made no sense to me.White Hall Square was my first apartment, unfortunately, I am traumatized and may never sleep with both eyes closed again.P.S. We hate it here!
Yea, I do not understand the negative comments but let me just tell you Ive lived here while I was in high school TWICE, moved to Waldorf then when it was time for me to leave the nest I came back here with my brother. And now that we are going our own ways this year I plan on staying. Its super low-key, comfortable and now im excited some apartments are being renovated because the only flaw they have is the ugly Kitchens. You dont see a lot of people hanging around outside, and the only crimes I know about is the car break ins which happens outside of the complex because those people couldnt follow management rules and get the proper tags. No roaches, no rats, not electric bill, i love it!
My God Daughter lives here. Very spacious, well kept apartments. The community is quiet and the have special police officers patrolling the premises.
I have asked over and over for them to install lights in front of our apartment building and after nearly 3 years, they have yet to install them. It is unsafe for women especially women with children. Several emails have already been sent and believe Im famous for paper trails. This tells me that they dont give a damn about our safety! Its cool because Fox5 News will be notified.
DONT, I REPEAT, DONT MOVE HERE. Especially, if you have small children! Me, my husband and daughter havent been here a year yet and weve had SO many issues with this complex! We have a energetic toddler that loves to play. The women under us is so rude and not understanding. My daughter is up from 7am-11am and then from 1pm-8pm. So, for her to get upset and complain about a child playing during the daytime is so uncalled for. Weve only received one noticed from the office but theyre are so unprofessional and rude it doesnt matter. How is it okay for employee at the front office (who collects the rent) have loud parties that goes on until 4am and have your guests leave even louder in the parking at 5am. Or better yet how can I tell the main office my neighbors are smoking weed and its coming through my vents and they do NOTHING about it. However, my child cannot play during the day? Ive reached out Mrs. Monroe but shes never available! So, now Im waiting to hear from corporate about my issue. Hopefully, I dont have to sue either way they wont win this situation! However, if you can just save your money, time and effort and dont move here!
I lived there for quite awhile and am a former employee of Kay. The apartments are nice and spacious but the parking is horrible. My biggest issue was the mice. I had no idea I had mice and multitudes of mice. I moved out as soon as I saw one. The staff is great and only do what upper management allows. The entire main office in Silver Spring should be fired and replaced. They line their own pockets with great salaries and leave the properties to decay. Its sad because Mr. Kay whom I had the pleasure of working for when he was alive wasnt that way. He had no idea what was being done under his nose. I found him to be honest and helpful too bad they have people like Debbie Eck still working there who decides things based on if she like you or not or her own personal feelings and not policy. Its sad, Mr. Kay put so much into those properties. If Debra is still the Manager at White Hall and Leslie is still in charge you will be ok.
Can someone please give me a honest review on this apartment complex. Looking to move her and I hear parking is really bad with no visitor passes or nothing! But I really need a honest review on how It is living there ?? Please respond, thanks...
Nice and spacious and very quiet in my section. Not crazy about the jumps in rent every year. Overall I would recommend
Im writing this review because there are so many negative ratings and I just cannot believe it. I understand every experience wont be the same but mines has been very pleasant. I love the neighborhood, its quiet and well kept. Theres never a lot of people hanging around outside, even in the summer time when the weather is nice. The buildings can only be accessed if you have a key. For the better part of my time here, the main door to my building was broke/unlocked because the neighbors (and their kids also) kept breaking the locking component. This is because there is a fee to get additional keys to access the buildings. I guess it was easier for them to just keep inconsiderately breaking the lock then to cough up the money to get extra keys. However, maintenance came to fix the lock quite often. The neighborhood is gated and quiet so I never felt unsafe even with the main door to the building being unlocked.Everyone keeps commenting on parking because you can only get a pass if you present your car registration reflecting your address to the leasing office. If your name not on the lease than I understand why its hard for you to get a pass. Additionally, they dont give visitor passes, so everyone else has to park their car outside of the neighborhood. Visitor passes would be nice.As far as the apt. itself, its super spacious. I have a two bedroom, 1 & 1/2 bath with a washer and dryer. The only utility you pay is water and my water bill stayed the same low amount each and every month no matter how often we ran the dishwasher and washing machine. Ive never had an issue with noise. Anyone can have loud, inconsiderate neighbors and of course you can hear if a child is running above you but this was never an issue. Since moving here I have only seen about 3 roaches (in a span of a year) and I am horrified of bugs so I am so grateful this was never an issue. There was a mouse in the kitchen, I saw it one night and there would be droppings on the counters every morning so I knew it was still there. These pest issues were always limited to the kitchen area, never in bathrooms or bedrooms or living area. (Eventually the mouse issue was resolved.)This brings me to maintenance. Each time I called and put in a request there would be someone there within the week, normally 2-3 days later. There was only one time that I can recall where I had to put the same request in about 3 times before they showed up. One time they came same day to fix my issue. They are very pleasant and hardworking. The office staff are pleasant as well. I really like Jennifer, who I normally seem to get when I call. She is friendly, polite and professional. Candace was my leasing agent who assisted me when I first applied and took me on my walk through of the apt., she was very helpful. Simone is nice and professional as well when I go in and sit with her to pay rent. I have never had an issue with any of the staff as they seem to be pretty much on top of their stuff. There is a bus that comes directly into the neighborhood and takes you to Suitland metro station. The apartments are minutes away from DC and its a perfect location for me because I commute there for work. With all that said, I am only leaving due to different circumstances. If I could I would stay and Id also recommend these apartments to anyone!!Edit: Initial post was 10 months ago, I did not move like I thought I would. I stayed and do not regret it. I would like to add that the mouse issue was NOT resolved. If anything, it has gotten worse since the initial post. Ive seen at least 3: one dead on my living room floor, one caught in a trap under the kitchen sink, and one hiding under the dryer in the kitchen. These rodents may be the worst thing about these apts.
MICE MICE MICE!! Building 4184 is infested as well as 4182. I asked if i could be moved to a building that didnt have an infestation issue and was told that i would have to pay to break my current lease, reapply, put down a first/last months rent and the like as if i was a new tenant. I swear Debra is the worst property manager in life. I called Kay Management corporate office to ask about being moved, Suzanne told me to simply break my lease and hung up on me. I contacted a PG County health department, a private exterminator, and HUD. However, after killing the 10th mouse, i decided to just cut my losses and move. Mice, no guest parking, mold, and a property manager with an inability to manage all make for valid reasons to stay the hell away from here.
Worst place to live! They donβt give out visitors parking passes so your guest will have to leave by 11 pm or get towed. I stayed the night over a friends house that lives there so I parked on the street to avoid getting towed. I ended up getting a $50 parking ticket for parking on the street! Why pay rent to live somewhere when you canβt even have guests over past a certain time??
Ive been a resident at Whitehall Square for 2yrs now and I personally havent had any bad experiences. I know there are a lot of comments about staff but I never experienced any of that. Staff has always been friendly to me. The apartments are in good quality and all of my maintenance issue where taken care of within 48hrs. The only downside I would say is parking. There is no visitor parking AT ALL after 10pm which makes it difficult to have company. But other than that I havent had a problem
Like the fact that you have to have a pass to park even though its not gated. I also love that the bus goes into the development.
Night actions lol.Coming from BALTIMORE to many people stay here and parking like going to a game. They keep it clean.Seem like a nice place but.To many eyes around.love City life
Good but I have a mouse π« in my apartment
The inside of the apartments are nice. However, the security doors are regularly broken. It is in a high crime area. Residents regularly park on the cross street outside of the apartment complex because you have to pay for a parking sticker to park within the complex.
The staff is absolutely terrible. Nobody in the management office knows their right from their left. They argue with you and say theyve sent things to you thats they dont. Seriously the leading ladies need to be the managers because they know how to treat people and they know how to do their jobs and they do them well. The management team needs some serious training. Ive worked as a manager and now I work in healthcare and they wouldnt last a day. If I wasnt planning on buying a house this spring and dont want to get into another lease then I would be gone. I had a wonderful family living next to us for a few months and they moved because of the management staff. I had never had to deal with them before other than paying our rent but now I completely understand!
Leasing consultants here are very shady and untrustworthy. Very unprofessional and rude when I was submitting my application. Even though I make 4 times the rent, I was told I didnt make enough and was given the run around when I asked to speak to the property manager about the situation. Definitely glad I decided to move elsewhere.
Their parking policy SUCKS! They also BARELY answer maintenance work orders. My mailbox is BROKEN and hardly ever locks. Ive reported this problem several times and they have not permanently fixed it. Did not receive a key to the wash room. And the washer and dryers are terribly small, the washer overflows and every time I go to wash my clothes there is water all over the floor.
The staff at Whitehall Square are incompetent, irresponsible and lazy. My husband and I went twice to view and apply for an apartment. The first time we went, the woman at the front office lost the key to the apartment we came to view. She repeatedly said, I dont know where this key went. Then told us she would call back on Monday. The next week I called back a second time and scheduled another appointment. By this time the apartment we wanted was no longer available but we were willing to view a different 3 bedroom apt. This time she said, Oh its not ready to view. Why didnt you call first? I was confused, as I had scheduled an appointment over the phone earlier that week with another staff member. I said, The Iast time you said you lost the key!But because her manager was there, she lied and said, I didnt lose the key, it was just with maintenance! She lied about losing the key and asked us to come back for the third time the next weekend. As working professionals in DC, we dont have time to keep coming back due to your inability to keep track of keys or keep apartments clean enough to show. If the apartments are not ready or you dont have the key, DONT LIST THEM AS AVAILABLE AND WASTE PEOPLES TIME. I am also pregnant with a bit of restricted movement so this back and forth game was not only annoying but extremely stressful. The staff displayed pure laziness and incompetence. They couldnt care less about your time. I had already read many negative reviews of the apartments and staff. Their irresponsible and childlike business practices have confirmed that those negative reviews are all true. We will gladly not be living at Whitehall Square. If they act like this when trying to rent apartments, imagine how they are once youve signed the lease. DONT MOVE HERE!!!!
I only gave one star because I had to rate to write a review Jessica in the rental office is very unprofessional! They are lazy with two people working the office they still act like they dont want to show apartments. I could go on but just take my warning serious and dont move here!
Adore the floor plan, private washer & dryer
Im trying to move out of here. Mice no parking for your guests after 11. They fixed a leak in my bathroom and it took a month for them to come fix the ceiling. My daughters furnace hasnt been working for 3 days they came and said that the motor is not working and they never came back. Its a mess
DO NOT TRY TO LIVE HERE IF YOU ARE A MILITARY VETERAN RECEIVING VA BENEFITS.My husband and I came here to view an apartment on January 11,2018. After we saw it we were so excited and decided to fill out an application. I am a medical technician my husband is a disabled army vet. We more than met the income requirements but sadly this apartment complex doesnβt accept va money as a form of compensation even though itβs how my husband is paid monthly! I wouldnβt waste my time if youβre a veteran....other than that the apartments are ok nice features a little out dated. There should have been zero problem with taking my husbands pay, other apartments have accepted it fine we just really liked this one. Weβre genuinely not understanding the confusion and sense nobody could explain WHY his pay wasnβt accepted weβre pretty much sitting here scratching our heads.
Bed bug infested community, i didnt think they were real until i move there and i brought all brand new stuff something told me to get rentals insurance, theres no where to park after 11 pm they make for you(if your tags dont match for address)and your guess park on the main street not in the community or get towed. Staff is horrible, maintaince is terrible, dont waste money or time moving here, there are other places with better service for your money......
Im not sure what everyone is complaining about.I was hesitant about moving here at first. I moved from a predominantly white area in Virginia and the only thing I thought about moving here was GHETTO but its not.The property is clean, rental office staff is very friendly and accommodating, trash is picked up daily, maintenance is on point, no pests, neighborhood is quiet, people are nice and the rent is super cheap which I love. Of course youre going to smell weed...who doesnt smoke these days....it is almost 2016. Itll be completely legal in another year or so.The place I moved from had armed robberies, loud people, little thug wannabees hanging around the park pissing everywhere, terrible parking, mice infestation, trash just piled and piled which led to rats and roaches and dont get me started on maintenance and the office staff....and we were paying $2200 but Im just ranting.Weve only gotten one noise complaint from the lady under us but we explained that I had a very active 1 year old who is usually asleep by 8pm, we havent heard anything else. Its also in the middle of a cemetery but I like stuff like that so it doesnt creep me out...You can always find parking. The only thing that sucks is if you have a party or something people have to park on the street which can be far but thats why you take 2 cars to find parking lol.The water bill is a little weird but I dont pay that portion so I cant say anything about that.Overall, I love the place and if I cant find a new place by next year in Virginia....only because thats my home....I will definitely be renewing my lease! I would definitely recommend moving here!!!
I have been living here for about 6 years and yes my car has been stolen from here and has been broken into non-the-less those things can happen anywhere hell people getting car jacked at stop lights now and days. I gave a for star because out of six years i only had one issue with them with maitenance and them not completing thier work which made the problem worse and they moved me to a different apartment. That is once out of 6 years of being here and i only deal with two people in the office thats lesley (assistant property manager) and debbie (property manager).
Looks great from the outside and landscaping is nice
Nice place to live.
Was visiting a friend here. They dont provide tenants with visitor parking passes. So if anyone stays past 11p, they risk having their vehicle towed. I hear cars get broken into often out there, I still havent seen a security guard or patrol car
Just stay away from these apts.
Is rellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyy bad bad dont live in this place is rellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyy bad
No visitors parking or visitors passes. Horrible 4 years
The parking situation is terrible. Visitors are not allowed to park here after 11 without a parking pass.
If you do not have parking sticker or pass you have to park on out on street outside complex.
Spacious living space
1 way in 1 way out ok then
It is quite a clean &well kept property but if you dont have your own transportation this property is not for you.
A dump and unsafe place to live
Nice Apartments, but the parking regulations are miserable
Ive been living on this property for 14 years now and I wouldnt recommend this property to anyone
I have some family living there..
Dont really know
The staff are rude and if you are not registered in Maryland you will have to park in the street and risk getting towed or your car being broken into.
Good Complex
Its a conspiracy.
1 way in 1 way out
Parking horrible at night
Good
Great
I LOVE IT HERE!!!!!!!
