It was almost time for the fall maintenance call anyway, when the AC stopped working at the end of the work day yesterday. The company kindly combined the service call and repair need and came today. The repairman was courteous, friendly and very competent., and Im appreciating the cool air again. Thank you so much.

Called them this morning because our heat pump had ice on the coils. They came out within a couple hours to check it, did some diagnostics and unfortunately we need a new system. They were able to schedule me right then to have their installer folks come out to do a quote. Technician was professional, honest and knowledgeable.

The technician was on time, thorough and friendly. He gave me the straight deal (I had been misled by a prior company to believe I needed repairs that I do not need). We had our annual maintenance today on 3 heat pumps and a generator. Wes, our technician, was on time and knew exactly what he was doing. He was an excellent communicator and explained very clearly in terms I could understand what he was finding and what needed to be replaced.He was very neat and left everything in great shape. I am very confident in the service I received today.

I just have to take a few minutes to praise this company and mainly Wes. My 7 year old carrier system on my home stopped blowing cold a few days ago. I had another Hendersonville based company come out first to inspect it (my mistake for not going to Nicholson first) and upon arrival a very very young man diagnosed my system for a bad compressor and the boss called me and quoted me $2700 for a new compressor or $7,000 for a new system that they obviously leaned towards. We dealt with the heat for a few days after before we then decided that we have to get a second opinion because I didn’t feel good about this diagnosis. I called Nicholson and a VERY friendly lady named Catherine set up the appointment for Wes to come take a look. Wes arrived within an hour and if I told you he wasn’t the most friendly and professional human being I’ve ever encountered then I would be lying. Wes had the panel pulled off the outside unit in minutes and was just a true master at work. 2 minutes later he deems the issue a bad capacitor. Threw in a new one he had on the truck and I was blowing cold again! He then went well above and beyond to educate me on other things about the system and tell me all the readings he was getting and that my compressor was WELL within spec on all readings and that I should have many more years of use. $240 fix vs potentially $7000. There are still plenty of honest, professional and very hard working people out there, and Wes with Nicholson is one of them hands down. Do yourself a favor, if you have any HVAC issues, call Nicholson….you won’t regret it.

My first experience with the Nicholson Company from start to finish was five star. Angie answered the phone and was wonderful. She managed to work me in the next morning. Jeff, the technician, was professional and knowledgeable. He explained each step he was taking to repair and clean my system. I will definitely continue to use them.

We had a flood from our HVAC. It was a plugged drain. Nicholson unplugged the drain and pumped a bunch of water out of bottom ducts, and also topped off our R 22 which was 1 pound low. This is the second time I’ve use them and both times have been very fast to come out and help us. This time he came same day.

Ive been using Nicholson Co for 5+ yrs and happily have a maintenance contract with them. I had them install a UV light air filtration system, which they recommended, and its worked GREAT! I feel a lot less stressed about the hvac systems, which are a major investment, when theyre well maintained. Every one of their service people are excellent. I cant recommend them more highly. Theyre honest, fair-priced, do a great job, and are always a delight to communicate with.

Wes the technician arrived promptly and spent a good deal of time servicing my furnace. Before leaving, I had several concerns to address and he spent time answering all my questions. I have used Nicholson for maintenance and repair of my HVAC system for many years. Service has been consistently excellent. One error (and only one) made by a technician the company fixed promptly at their own expense. All technicians and office staff are respectful, informative, personal, and professional. We were having multiple, repeated problems with our gas furnace throughout the winter, and when it finally developed a problem we couldnt handle - on a Saturday night, of course - we called Nicholson, based on a recommendation. They had a tech out here within two hours, and he was extremely thorough in diagnosing the problems, explaining to us what he was doing, and presenting different solutions / options. He was able to identify that the major part that had failed was still under warranty (16 years later), and we were ultimately able to have 90% of the system rebuilt with brand new parts from Carrier for far, far less than a new unit would have cost. Unfortunately, it took a few weeks for parts to come in, but that was entirely beyond Nicholsons control. Bottom line is we were impressed by their professionalism and value, and definitely recommend them to anyone needing HVAC services.

Jon from Nicholson is a total professional. He explained some very serious issues that we had with our HVAC after several big renovations; the sawdust had thoroughly clogged our filters. He completely took care of the issues and explained what he was doing every step of the way. Im planning on getting Nicholson on an annual contract to keep our system performing at 100% (like is is now)!

Service technician Jon arrived midday. He confirmed, as suspected, that the capacitor on the A/C unit was kaput, and replaced it. He also explained what the capicitor was for, and, generally, how the unit operated, in a way understandable to a layperson. All in all, a professionally conducted and pleasant experience.

Just last night (with temps dipping to freezing) we discovered the heat went out and saw the condensate pump had stopped working which automatically shuts off the heat to protect the furnace. This was about 10 pm. I will need to update this review once the work is completed, but so far, weve had a wonderful experience with Nicholson. Our furnace stopped working on the coldest night of the year. I called their emergency line and Jeff was at my house within the hour to diagnose the problem. The very next day he ordered the repair parts and were waiting for them to come in. Jeff was quick, knowledgeable, helpful, and kind! So Id the staff who answers the phone. Hopefully the repair goes smoothly!Update: Original estimate had a two-week wait for the repair parts. Came in just a few days later and Jeff completed the repair the very next day. Months later and all works well! Would definitely recommend Nicholson!

I needed my 30-year-old HVAC system replaced. Researching all Asheville companies, not getting a good feeling, I checked Hendersonville and found Nicholson. Nicholson had the best reviews, and now I see why.Deciding what unit I needed, based on Consumer Reports and other research, I decided on Carrier, Trane being the second choice. I found out Nicholson is a Carrier dealer, so I went with Nicholson.From the person who answered the phone at Nicholson to the service manager, Dave Thompson, to the head tech, Ben, to all the techs I meet working on our system, I was impressed.Looking at videos online, I initially wanted the latest and greatest Carrier furnace and air conditioner. Talking to Dave, who explained the advantages and disadvantages of every unit, I settled on something not so extravagant. Glad I did.Let me explain how the work was accomplished. Let me first explain the point of view of my neighbor, who kept a close eye on them from a distance while I worked inside. My neighbor raved about them sending out four or five trucks, efficiently working together as a team, and setting up canopies because it was raining. From my inside view of the situation, the techs communicated to me what was happening, explained to me what they would be doing, wore shoe protectors not to dirty the carpet, warned me the air handler unit might emit a disagreeable smell when first turned on, and even told me when they were going to lunch. Every tech offered me some knowledge they had concerning the system. I have never seen a bunch of technicians this well trained-ever! Between my wife and me, Ben gave us about an hours worth of training on how to program the thermostat, which came in handy since my wife wanted all different times programmed a day later. So our training proved successful: my wife can program it without any problem and so can I. They will program it for you, which they initially did for us.Being a tech some years ago, in a different field, I am a good judge of quality work, and quality work Nicholson produced.From intake and exhaust line to routing ac lines, connecting ductwork to the new furnace, installing a place for a furnace filter, it was done perfectly.I tried finding a scrap of litter or something left over from the job—it cant be found!The companys name should be changed to above and beyond because everything they did was beyond all my expectations and above the work I have seen others do and we have lived in many places.
