We came from Belgrade to purchase a vehicle, as the vehicle shortage D/T covid is a struggle! Not only were they about 2k cheaper than Bozeman, but it was the most stress-free vehicle purchase I have ever made. Crystal was wonderful to work with. Truly the most “no pressure” experience I’ve ever had. I WILL buy another vehicle from here when the time comes. Thank you so much! Fantastic experience!
I am from Billings and was camping near Helena when we had a several warning lights come on. We drove around to several automotive shops to get codes read and cleared. However no one was able to truly tell us what what going on with our car. We were finally referred to Placer Subaru and Andrew got our car looked at immediately. Turns out that we needed a new body case. Andrew got a us in a rental so we could go back to our campsite and enjoy our vacation. He also had a mechanic stay late and to work on our car so we could safely drive back to billings. I am extremely grateful to the staff at Placer Subaru for getting us back on the road. And an extra thanks to Andrew and the technician that worked late, I would say that they went above and beyond to get us home safely.
Great service and experience. Decently priced as well. The waiting area is cozy and clean. The staff there are very friendly! Would highly recommend.
These guys are top-notch! Ive never been so well taken care of at a dealership.
Poor Service Department: My granddaughter had my Subaru 2010 towed to Placer Subaru after a breakdown. She was told the engine was blown and they would take the car off our hands but wouldn’t pay us for the car. We had the car towed to Missoula to our mechanic. The engine isn’t blown and the car can be repaired easily. Really sounds like they were taking advantage of a young student and trying to rip her off, or they are very poor mechanics.
Ive bought a few cars from Placer and had them service them as well. Absolutely wonderful and trustworthy people.
Placer Motors Subaru has been more than good to me over the years. Since my first LG wagon, up to my current Subaru LEGACY I have always been treated with respect. All of my questions have been answered so to be sure I’m getting the right part for the regularly scheduled maintenance and repair. Subaru vehicles give me confidence in the winter, and I have continued great faith in the vehicles safety. Its nice to see that Placer is able to service a wide variety of vehicles as well. “Trucks too”Thank you to all the folks at Placer, present, past, and future .
These people are awesome to do business with!! I will definitely be buying from them again.
Best service in town
Placer Motors has always taken such good care of our vehicles. We recently took our 2015 Forester in for its 60K mile maintenance. They went above and beyond to work our vehicle into a schedule that worked well for us.Jeremy is a wonderful customer service person. He always goes above and beyond to make sure you are not only happy with the service your car got, but he is always willing to explain issues. Placer Motors is lucky to have Jeremy representing them. Because of him, we will continue to buy Subaru. And tell everyone else to buy from Placer.
Was visiting from out of state and needed a new car. Ryan and Crystal both helped me and were more than accommodating and so helpful. Also got a great deal on a 2021 Crosstrek which I love! Thank you guys so much!
My family spends a long time car shopping and Placer Motors blew me away with a excellent customer service and low pressure decisions. We were treated as humans here and not Cash Cowss like some other dealerships in Helena.I want to give high praise to Ken and Crystal who put up with us while they let us test drive nearly every Forester and Outback on their lot before we finally settled on our 2020 Outback.Ive purchased multiple vehicles through dealerships in the past and have always left stressed out. I will admit this was the only time we have purchased a car that didnt add more grey hairs if you know what I mean. Thanks for being awesome Placer Motors!
OMG...this place is SUCH a find. We will never go to any other Montana Subaru dealership. After disappointing service at Subaru Missoula and especially poor service at DonK DonK Subaru in Whitefish, we saw a leasing deal at Placer Subaru. Crystal was AMAZING. Honest, efficient, professional. What you see.is what you got. No surprises. Extremely hard working. Even called on her day off! This is now our go-to Subaru dealership!
Great place to purchase a vehicle. Sales staff was pleasant. When it came time to purchase the vehicle we ordered, they had most of the paperwork completed and we were only in the finance office about 30 minutes. Overall great buying experience and I will definitely be back again.
Very disappointed in handling my sisters situation with being in an accident, needing a vehicle to drive, stating to me not to go to Butte, and insisted to go to placer, when to be let down and not helping her. I have to say Butte did offer to help my sister and for that Im grateful.
The usual great people & service!
Had a great experience purchasing my outback at Placer. I was able to negotiate price and custom order via email and a phone call.
Placer staff is always helpful and works to do the right thing for their customers.
Already bought 1 thinking about buying another used car
Long post summarized: I do NOT recommend buying or dealing with Placer. When I needed to buy a new vehicle, I did my research and found that Subaru as a brand has stellar reviews and personal testimonials. I further researched for Subaru dealerships around Western Montana and found that Placers prices were more fair than others window prices- so I went to Placer to look around. Thats where things began to go south. The sales lot was sadly devoid of hardly any vehicles- they had one or two options of the basic Forester, Legacy, and Ascent. They had probably 4 Outbacks. I talked with the salesman, who was not overly friendly and acted like it was a burden to help me find a used car that was what I wanted and in my price range. I said I did NOT want an Outback for various reasons, and he kept trying to sell me one even after multiple no thank yous . Eventually, I got into a vehicle I was interested in, I had to prod and ask him about every little detail of the vehicle- he didnt tell me about any features or what the buttons did unless I asked him first (as you can imagine this got old very quickly as he just stood outside the car looking at me). Undeterred, negotiations continued, and when I asked the lowest price they could go, he took only $500 off the sticker price and said that was it. I tried to negotiate and he was NOT moving on lowering the price. I left frustrated that there was no wiggle room, it was their way or no way. I waited 2 months until my car died, and went back. The majority of the vehicles I saw 2 months prior were STILL there so surely I thought, theyll go down on the price- they need to move the cars. Nope. Same offer take it or leave it. Next, while I was talking with the salesman, an older customer came in looking for a salesperson (Im young- around 27), and my guy traded me off to his supervisor to close the deal while he went and helped the older gentlemans needs. I felt like I wasnt wanted, needed, or valued enough to even close the deal with. The woman I was passed to was a nice person, however, condescending when talking about finances and monthly payment options. She acted like couldnt believe I needed explanations on what I would be paying for. With her I felt rushed and pressured to hurry up and sign on the dotted line. When we were closing, she said See, not hard at all, huh? Like I was a child. Im sorry, but if Im spending over $30,000 and helping keep your business afloat, I feel like I deserve some kind of professional courtesy, explanations, and respect that I didnt receive.Overall, they acted like they didnt need to sell you a car, because they are the only Subaru dealership in town and we live in Montana they know their cars will sell regardless of the price, the lack of customer service, and lack of genuine salesmanship. I do NOT recommend.
They are not up front with the cost if any at all for service. I went in to have a code cleared and they had me wait for 45 minutes and then proceeded to charge me $50. I had stopped to have the code checked before I had headed over. I only went to placer because it’s a code that had to be cleared by the dealer. Next time I’m going to my mechanic that won’t charge to have a code cleared. Do not recommend going to placer. I will personally never be returning there again. I would rather travel to Gallatin Subaru in Bozeman. I got treated a lot better there
They had my cars passenger side air bag changed and my car ready within 45 minutes! Very impressive!
Stopped here on my road trip across the country. I went to the service shop across the street. Needed a oil change and tire rotation. The people here were very nice. Someone is there to greet you as soon as you pull the car in. They were able to pencil me in the following dayThe appointment took around 45 minutes. The waiting area inside is very nice and clean. The AC was great since it was so hot out. They had snacks and coffee
No pressure, answered all of our questions.
Great customer service!
We have purchased 2 new cars from Placer. They have always been friendly and helpful. Recently, we needed some warranty work done, due to an emissions failure on the car (not a huge deal/cat converter). Placer ordered the part, we took the car in for a 90 minute appointment. after 75 minutes they notified me that they had ordered the wrong part. Returned one week later to have the problem solved with the correct part. Again 90 minute appointment. 4 hours had gone by and the service desk informed me the tech had stripped the bolt and could not correct the problem. We had been offered a rental for the inconvenience. Most of my experiences with service has been great. Sales, too. However, this past time was not only less than convenient (due to scheduling and work), but it made me question the competence of the service department. I hope Placer sees this concern and addresses this so it doesnt happen for other customers. I think in the future I will be taking our Subaru to Helena Import Repair. Kyle Northup is a certified tech and his hourly rate is a fraction of what Placer costs.
Im 80.years and never have I.had better experience buying a used car than dealing with Ryan. A true professional. My testimony any time. They are the best.
Fixed a recall on our car. It was done quickly. Nice staff. Good waiting room.
Owned locally and they really know how to take care of their customers. I ran into a warranty issue a couple of years ago they could not do enough for me. Theres not enough room just say all the good things I have to say about master Motors in Helena Montana.
Being a Subie fan I was very pleased with the service. Great attitude and very attentive to my concerns. 5 stars in my book.
Would highly recommend buying your next new car from Ken at Placer Subaru! My customer experience was pleasant and easy. Above all, Ken was trustworthy and gave me a good value for my trade-in. Love my new 2016 Outback. Thanks Ken.
Shap has been wonderful to work with. Would recommend!
Great car buying experience. Super helpful, no pressure. Recommended! Thanks
Great customer service in making and providing sufficient time for vehicle information, questions, pricing and all with straight shooting!
The actual salesman/men/women were very nice and appropriate. The lady whom does the credit checks however needs to have an undercover person go in and do a test. I went in to do a credit app. And see if I could get approved for a car. (I have more than half of the $$ for it ready in cash as a down payment). Instantly she was rude, demeaning, and acted like I was stupid and did not know one thing about purchasing or even looking at vehicles and credit. (I am 20 and look young). She asked for my DL and such, which then she said only way I would be approved is if my mom co signed. And Only my mom could co sign. I then explained my mom was dissabled and cant always leave the house. She acted like I was lying. Overall experience from her was terrible. I have never been so angry at a complete stranger before. Terrible experience for a young customer trying to purchase a good car and investment.
I would highly recommend anyone to take a serious look at working with Placer in their next vehicle purchase. There was no pressure towards one vehicle or another just to get a better sale. The reps were all attentive to what I was looking for. They understood and took into consideration what I aspects I valued and wanted in my next car. Even after all of that they still didnt push to see what my $$ pockets had. (Which is one of the biggest reasons I stuck with them)When it finally came to that point, they were clear in all the document language, going thru all of the terminology and answering every question I had. They were straight forward with the numbers. I believe they went above and beyond working with me in my own unique situation.Thank you, to the team at Placer.
CHARGED me 165$ to tell me I needed $2,000 repairs, i.e. Head gaskets. That was 8 years ago and I have never had a problem with it. Notice how there are no negative complaints? They pay Google to have them removed. I know because my review from back then is not here. Stay away from these shysters.
My wife and I always enjoy shopping and buying at Placer. Subaru is a great product. Both Ken Nettleson and Curt Little treat us very well.
The Service department is just wonderful! I have never been treated this nice! I will shop her again, and have my Subaru problems taken care of here! It is worth the drive!
Had a great experience buying a used Subaru. Staff very helpful and friendly, absolutely no pressure.
Short notice call for broken light replacement, got in at requested time. Did their complementary multi point service check and found my OEM three plus year old battery was almost dead! Very pleased with the Placer service folks!
Although I didnt end up buying a vehicle from these folks, they were friendly, low pressure, and helpful. If there were a vehicle on their lot that I wanted, or I was looking to order another Subaru, I would have no hesitation to buy from Placer.
Great customer service. Curt Little was very helpful as was Becky in the office. Thank you for the great service and making my experience a great one. I love my new Suburu Impreza😀
Nice people who take time with you. The service center is across the street
While we ended up not going with a Subaru, the staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They made our experience a breeze.
Shap was great and provided me great service with a no pressure sales environment.
My old Suby just keeps rolling and these folks have done a great job in keeping the tires on.
Very helpful. Great selection of new and used cars. Brand new service center
WOMEN BEWAREI brought my subaru in for an airbag recall back in January. I had been pulled over twice for a headlight that was going on and off and which I had already replaced the bulb to. I mentioned the headlight and my foglight to the intake mechanic and he told me it might be about $50 to do. I thought that was expensive but I didnt know any better and I didnt want to keep getting pulled over so I agreed to it. When I got back the total for replacing the fuse to the headlight was $61.90 (and they didnt even fix the foglight). It is March now and the headlight is out again despite a new bulb from December and the new fuse in January. I just went to Valvoline for an oil change and they told me they do that for FREE, they only charge for the fuse/bulb (both under $5 apparently). I dont know if it was my beater subaru, the kids car seat, or my uniform for my minimum wage job that indicated to the mechanic that I could toss money around but I wouldve appreciated it if he had just been honest with me and told me to go somewhere else. This being my first time going to this place and that they were already in there working on it and that this is apparently something incredibly simple to do, I think it would have been kind to at least do it for the cost of the part. Fool me once-shame on you. I would never trust this place with any serious repair after this experience. I feel like they took advantage of my lack of knowlege and I wouldnt want to get into that situation with them over hundreds of dollars. Glad I only lost $61.90, in retrospect. Valvoline and AutoWerx Plus are the places to go in Helena!
Got an awesome deal from Shap. Great people and service.
Great staff, good vehicles
Great dealership. They will go the extra step for you.
Very Sensitive to BS and Very Pleased With Our Experience Here
Placer motors is the place to go for a new or used Subaru. Managing Rimrock Subaru for a year, then prior the top two Subaru dealerships in the country, Placer Motors is exemplary.Erick the owner never pressures his customers which I appreciate that from a management perspective, but also from a consumer standpoint. Ericks ideology is customers first, seriously. I am what you would call an incredibly picky customer. Ive returned cars, Ive had parts replaced, yeah, I am that guy. However, Erick has never shied away from me when Ive approached him to buy my vehicles. It is that very reason that I continue to go to his dealership, which he owns.I received some money to get into a new vehicle and out of my lease as my life situation has changed, so a new lease was in order.Erick quickly put a deal together for me from Butte. Within the hour I drove over and made sure my dog could fit in the Crosstrek, as we were coming from the outback. He fit great and the car came with almost every option on it!Erick got me in touch with his Internet Manager, Dennis who has been phenomenal to deal with. While running large internet departments (where we sold 600 new Subarus a month), it was and remains the utmost importance of quality assurance and responsiveness. Dennis informed me very quickly regarding the installation of the accessories I wanted. Which included: STI shift knob, STI rear spoiler, remote start, tint and clear bra.No request I have given to Placer Motors has ever been treated as odd or abnormal. They truly understand how exciting every vehicle purchase is, and this is why their CSI is so high.Furthermore, I would like to thank John in service (the new service manager, which is incredibly more personable than his predecessor). He installed all those options (from the photos, with perfection).Placer Motos encompass a great deal, friendliness and someone who truly cares about their customer experience.I will continue to purchase my Subarus from Placer Motors regardless of where I am.Erick, Dennis and John your customer service towards me has been simply outstanding. If others recognized that you were much better to purchase from than Rimrock, Missoula, Gallatin -- then youd be the number one volume.I hope by this review others will feel comfortable doing business with your establishment. From my experience managing Subaru, BMW, Mazda, and Chevrolet I am happy, and honored to refer clients to you.Thank you,Clint
Took my car in to get an overalll check up. They took an hour and a half to do this and said everything is fine. Before leaving the place I asked Brooke the Service Advisor to show me a breakdown of my technician inspection form. She stared trembling and checked off the boxes in front of me that the inspector had NOT checked off. She insisted that he checked everything and continued to check the boxes and say nothing was wrong. Turns out the technician did not address any of the On ground visual inspection items or the Hoisted visual inspection items. These guys overcharge you for work they dont actually do!!!! 😠😠Definitely will be going to Bozeman for future work!!!
They said they resolved a Carfax issue when it came up on a Porsche 911 Turbo I bought from them 2 years ago. Now I am looking to sell the car and Carfax is still reporting an issue caused by their title Department. I am speaking to an attorney to see what he recommends.
Great people!! Good service!!
