Hays Academy is the absolute best, the people are always so amazing! When I went in, Jenny Russel did my hair, she was amazing! She listened to want I wanted and She did an astounding job on my haircut and color. I am so in love with it! Her bubbly personality made me feel comfortable and the confidence she just radiates made me feel at ease when she was doing my cut and color! I can’t wait to go back to her and have her cut and color my hair again!

Afrika did such an amazing job on all of my services today! She took time to listen to exactly what I wanted with my haircut and it came out better than I could have imagined. I got a haircut, eyebrow wax, manicure and pedicure from her and it was all good! Amazing!!! I went for a mani and a pedi and I had the BEST spa experience I’ve ever had. Management was amazing from the moment we walked in the door- Eric Markley and his staff. Then when I got mani and pedi service, it was awesome. Wendy did such an amazing job— was so accommodating, kind, wonderful and sweet. I had the best experience there. Also— it was the best foot/leg massage I’ve ever had. I’m from Kansas City and usually go there but this was better by far! Thank you, Hays Hair Academy and Wendy! The academy trains their students well. I’ve been happy every time I go! The prices are amazing, and yes it takes longer because they are students learning but the time can be relaxing and you get to chat with others. My acrylics look amazing - better than some of the professional places around town and a fraction of the cost.

Im new to the area so I went to Google and I put in nails near me a few of them popped up I was looking at reviews Hays academy caught my eye I seen that there was a nail technician by the name of Natalie she had really good reviews I requested her and I am so glad that I did cuz Im well satisfied with the results of my nails. Natalie was very nice professional admas well feelshe made me feel welcomed I was comfortable the whole time I was there I would recommend her to friends and family for sure.the only downside of this review is that Natalie is going to be graduating next week so she will no longer be there. Janet was amazing! It was my first time here! She did a complete remodel of my hair, as my hair was half colored and half natural. It had grown out so much since last colored due to the pandemic! I called for an appointment one day, and was randomly assigned a girl. I got Natalie Spain, and we instantly clicked! Now Natalie does my nails every two weeks, and she always has the best ideas! She is so sweet, and I never leave without laughing! I am constantly getting compliments on my nails. I am so thankful for HAHD bringing us together because now she is one of my best friends! ❤️

Last January I took the Nail Technology at Hays Academy at Hays campus. My experienced was AWESOME!!!! At first, I was a little nervous to go back to school and also I wasn’t sure what I really wanted to do. I have always love doing nails so I took Nail Technology. I was always curious about Hays Academy and asked around and heard good things about the school so I inquired about it and got all the requirements done after I decided to take the course. My first day of school I was really nervous but the moment I entered the building one of the students greeted me and introduced herself I felt comfortable right away. Everybody was friendly and with a smile on their faces. They made me feel at ease right away. The staffs, the owners, instructors and students are all very helpful, friendly, kind and always encouraging to me. We are all like family at school. My instructors are all very patient and always willing to help to their students. They teach you everything not only how to do nails properly, safely, how to handle the business part of it and most importantly how to treat clients. I am proud to be Hays Academy graduate. I would definitely absolutely recommend it to anybody that wants to get into cosmetology or nail technology. My friend Patience did my hair on tuesday and it didn’t turn out the way we wanted! She had asked for help multiple times from her teacher because she was scared of how it was looking and her teacher refused to give her help and kept telling her it looked great when we knew it didn’t. Now my hair is messed up and I’m not mad at all at Patience because she did her best and she’s a student!! Her teacher should have helped her when she asked the first time instead of standing up at the front talking or on her phone!!

I got a set of acrylics with gel polish for $25. I know that it pretty much depends on who you get here and how experienced the student is. However, I was expecting the set to at least last a week and I was told it would last 2 to 3 weeks and I’d just have to come in to get them filled. However, it’s been 4 days and 3 of them have popped off. The acrylics were not fitted properly so they hang off the side of my nail thus making them vulnerable to pop off. All of the nails are uneven and bulky. Every nail has a chip at this point. I would upload pictures if I could but I have pictures to take in to see if the academy can fix them or do something about it. I got them done to be cute for the Thanksgiving break to go home and see my family but we haven’t even made it to thanksgiving and nearly half of them are gone! I will call when the university reopens but I’m just very sad that they’re so bad, even if the price is cheaper, I just hope something can be done about it. I hate to leave a bad review but I spent money on it and hope it can be fixed

Kelsey B. did an amazing job on my acrylics today! She was very certain to ask my opinion on them during the process of trimming and shaping them. The shape turned out perfect! I got a coffin shape on a slight shorter length than normal and she did great with them. Will be booking with her again!

AMAZING!! My friend and I went in together and was SO FORTUNATE to be with Kenzie Wolf and Courtney Crawford! They did a fabulous job on our nails and it was a fun experience! They even recommended a nose wax which ended up being phenomenal and I’m so glad they recommended doing it. Thank you both for being so welcoming and fantastic! 10/10!

I chose Hays Academy for my cosmetology education because I love that they are locally owned and operated. The entire staff is so welcoming and helpful from application through graduation. I never would have found the best salon in Kansas City without my hays academy family. I am forever grateful that they prepared me to be successful in the salon even in a big city and for finding me the best fit for me after school! 10/10 would always recommend them to anyone!

Hays Academy of Hair Design was the best experience of my educational and professional life. Having attended another very well known school for cosmetology, I was worried I would be facing the same impersonal, and cursory approach to this field. I expected to be a number in a class and that I would just have to find my own enjoyment along the way. I was wrong. The owners, instructors, and staff at Hays Academy are not only extremely knowledgeable, they are warm and inspiring without sacrificing an ounce of professionalism. Everything about the way they taught me was incredibly impressive. Every day was a chance to immerse myself in the mindset of being a cosmetologist. They not only taught me top of the line techniques for hair, skin, and nail care; they taught me how to be successful by providing field-oriented business classes.I have never laughed or smiled so much while being challenged to be the best I can be. I will always be thankful for the knowledge and confidence I gained from Hays Academy. Truly, there is no other school out there like this one.

I went in for a gel French manicure and appreciated the honesty of my nail technician who was not up to that task. Brooke did however do an excellent job of simply polishing my nails and recommended the perfect color.The manicure room was exceptionally full and the nail technician next to us rudely refused to share the gel-curing light. Very unprofessional!Other than that, this is an excellent place that I would gladly recommend to anyone.

Lexy Stahl was awesome! Took her time to make my nails look perfect. I had no clue what I wanted going in (as I never get my nails done) and she was patient and explained all of my different options. She was mature and easy to talk to. I HIGHLY recommend!

I have received several shellac manicures from Kaylee Kingsley. She always does an amazing job. She is very thorough and makes sure my nails look great. My manicures from her last over 3 weeks! Thats longer than any other manicure has ever lasted. Kaylee has a passion for doing nails and you can see that in her high quality work. I have recommended her to friends who are also pleased with her work.

I have gone to Hays academy for several years and really enjoy it. The past several months Tiffany Rogers has been cutting and styling my hair. She has done an excellent job with my difficult hair. She has introduced me to a product that works awesome on my hair and is always giving me styling tips. I m going to miss her when she graduates!

Denise was my stylist today and I had her cut my hair like normal, but also requested to lighten up my gray hairs without doing a full color. She did a great job and the instructional staff were very attentive and helpful like usual. Have been going here for over 4 years and have not had a bad experience yet. They do fantastic work and the staff greets me by name. Keep up the great work.

Went to Hays Academy almost 7 years ago! 😱 Best decision of my life. I now live in California and though I do not practice cosmetology full time as I once did due to life’s journey, I compare my education and diverse skill set level and the school I went to was way better in comparison. You are not just a number but a family member. If u take every opportunity they give you, you will succeed as a student!

Came in and got my hair dyed purple. They started out telling me it would be about $60. I went in and got it lightened, dyed ultra purple, and cut. The color came out as a light purple, it was not what I was expecting, but I liked it. Then, I spent nearly $30 on their special shampoo and conditioner set that would preserve the color. The total came out being almost $130. The color almost completely washed out in the first wash. I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting to get their hair dyed a fantasy color. I was very unhappy with the service and the final results.

I received services from Yesi Ochoa quite a few times. She’s very polite and makes sure she actually listens to what you want. My hair or nails have always turned out just the way I’ve imagined them! I definitely recommend her to all my friends and will be setting up future appointments with her!

I had an appointment with Tori Davidson. It was an awesome experience. Tori gave me a manicure, pedicure and a deep conditioning treatment for my hair. Tori exceed my expectations and was cheerful and always had a smile on her face and wasnt afraid to make conversation. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Enjoyed myself and will be returning to get a perm and a trim.

I had the opportunity to go to Hays Academy of Hair Design last year, and I can honestly say it was one of the best educational establishments i’ve attended! The staff was so encouraging to shape me into the best cosmetologist they possibly could! They want you to succeed as much if not more than you do yourself! I have been coming to Hays Hair Academy for a few years and I have always enjoyed the experience! I had Riley Palmer and she was extremely welcoming and made my hair look way better than it did before! I had just gotten my hair cut short and my color before was just not working! I got a shellac manicure, shellac pedicure, and a lip wax with Rachel Amerin. I got a baby pink on my fingers and toes and then I got gold glitter on my ring fingers. I have had so many people comment about how cute my nails are and I love them so much! Also on my lip wax there was absolutely no hairs left so that was also an amazing job! Rachel was so sweet, kind, and polite. She kept me smiling the whole time and I cant wait to come back in a month and do it all again!

Went in for blonde highlights and a haircut. Hair cut is just okay I asked that the front and back be the same length but the front is still longer then the back. The highlights are awful I asked and paid for blonde highlights there is a lot of red in the highlights when I asked them about it they said it was the toner and would wash out IT DIDNT. So after them taking six yes six hours of my time I didnt get the highlights or haircut that I paid for. Dont waste your time or money here.

I wanted to recognize Hays academys owners and staff. They hosted our Nuts and Bolts Training and were so amazing and welcoming. Even allowed us to borrow their car while we were in town! They have an amazing culture and any student or future staff member would be so lucky to be part of such a great community of people who care and dedicate themselves to other peoples success! Incredible job from Lexie Gomez, she talked and made sure I felt comfortable with everything before taking the next steps in the cut. Ms. Gomez edged my beard up perfectly and did an incredible job fading my hair into my beard. Very relaxing scalp treatment as well, 10 out of 10 would recommend and I will be coming here from now on.

I would give this place a three because I just recently got my nails done there. It was like two and half days ago and my nails are already falling off. I understand that this is a school and it helps them practice but, saying that they are going to last two weeks is lying to me. I loved the service though. The girl who did my nails was very friendly. The service is the only reason why I gave them a three stars

Got my chin/side burns waxed and my lip waxed, was easy and fast. They were very accommodating seeing that I didnt have an appointment booked, and Merri Taylor did my wax. I was pleased with her work and have scheduled to get a hair cut done by her! She did great!

Have been using this facility since I moved to Hays. They offer great services and very reasonable prices. This is a place of learning, but I have had great service with Reiley Brewer. I have experienced hair cuts, colors, and waxing with her. She does an amazing job and has a fabulous personality! She really listens to what the customer wants before beginning.

I had such a great time at the academy. Maddie Tanner did my hair and couldnt be any happier with how it looks and feels. I went in with some horribly dry hair and she completely made my hair come to life again. She also did my 10 year old sister hair and made it look so age appropriate but yet still very new and fresh for her.

I had the privilege of Brianna Andregg a student at the Academy to cut my hair. She was so confident and professional in her work, polite, and easy to talk to. Brianna alongside with her amazing instructors made my experience enjoyable, and confident knowing she knew what she was doing. I have very thick hair which can be any hairdressers nightmare, she cut my hair with such ease and and delight getting to work with such difficult hair as mine. Im glad I gave her the the opportunity and the experience. Also doing a great cause giving their students the opportunity to learn and grow in their career, which I find amazing.

I have been to Hays Academy multiple times. It is very affordable, but I am usually ify about who I end up with.. Luckily, I found my favorite hair stylist there, McKenzie Taylor! She does an extraordinary job and I always love the end results when she does my hair. I definitely recommend her too all my friends and anyone else who is having trouble on who they want their hair done by!

I got an amazing facial with collagen mask from Lexie Boland! My skin feels so soft, but the best part is that she gives a VERY relaxing facial massage. What a treat after a long work day! Lexie has a great personality for working with people.
