Our dog, Whiskey, was boarded for 5 days a week and half ago. We gave it the past week to see if his “cough” would go away, unfortunately it didn’t and seemed to have gotten worse. I immediately thought Kennel Cough, so we brought him in. We had called a few other places, but their office fee was $350 and the other was $215!! Absolutely insane!! So we found After Hours and went to them, their office fee is $90. It was a quick visit and the doctor ruled Kennel Cough out immediately. Thank goodness! We were given cough tablets and an antibiotic to help. Our dog is a puller on the leash and we deemed it was probably from the super thin leashes they use at the boarding facilities that basically choked and hurt his throat. Great staff, super sweet and the tech who assisted us in the exam room was amazing. Our dog loved her and that made it super easy to work with him. If we’ve ever got to go to an Animal Urgent care again, it’ll be here. Thank you!
I came in for an emergency with my 1 1/2 yr old cat. They were really great and took such good care of my baby. He had to stay for a week and they really spoiled and loved on him. He ended up needing surgery and the doctor was always very honest and seemed genuinely concerned about my baby. It was extremely hard for me because his illness was life threatening and if the surgery did not work I would have had to put him to sleep. They saved my baby and were very supportive to me during the process
Two words, never again. We arrived at 9:30 am for our dog to be seen for a suspected concussion. Our dog was checked in to be taken back at 11:30 am. There was a sign posted in the lobby with a 1-2 hour wait (which as I learned must be regarding check in time only), after our arrival changed to a 3-4 hour wait.1) Poor communication with the facility. The front staff during our visit behaved aloof and were not helpful. Unless you re-approach them many times, to which they then disappear into the lab area to relay the unwelcome questions or requests.2) The doctor visit was not face to face. I found that out at 1:15pm almost 3 and a half hours later. It would have been nice for that to have been explained at some point during our almost 4-hour wait at the facility.3) The doctor needed to be honest. The head X-ray was not possible there, but we were told after the long wait... that it could be done at another facility.4) Rude front staff. When I asked how much longer, I was told our dog was not a priority. I was also told that she was fine in the kennel. However: She was cooped up and had to use the bathroom desperately when she got out of kennel. To this experience consequently, I declined any further testing from the doctor and staff. I am so thankful to be out of the dysfunctional environment. I would seriously reconsider any visit to this facility.
I have had the opportunity to utilize After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic on both a personal and dog rescue level. They are very friendly, have great compassion for the animals and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them!
Unfortunately I moved to the New Bern area and had to get a new Vet. There are NO emergency vets in this area and getting in to see a vet has been almost impossible. the closest emergency vet is 25 miles away. This Clinic was by far the best clinic I have ever had. Greensboro you are lucky to have such a caring and reliable Vet such as this. I miss these guys something fierce.
Sherry at the front desk was incredible from the start. I didnt even know if my cat Lucy would be coming home with me she was so sick... but Sherry had a pleasant smile and polite demeanor that really eased the process of checking in. The staff was incredibly thorough with describing what was needed and patient with my many questions regarding the expense and possible outcome. Its an after hours emergency vet so I anticipated it being a little costly, as should anyone else going there. But they were upfront about costs with my cat being kept overnight and I told them what kind of money I was working with. Ask a lot of questions and they will certainly answer them as best they can!
Pretty quick for an er--took our dog in for a minor dog bite. Check in was easy, doctor went over treatment and procedures clearly, and tech went over everything clearly at discharge. Great value for the price as well. We were very pleased with how Mira was treated every step of the way.
These people have no remorse and will kill a puppy just so you pay them.My parents came here tonight and they had them sign papers without EXPLAINING anything {they aren’t the best at reading English} and they returned the puppy DEAD. Without even saying that they were going to kill him if we signed them.I’ve been here before and the staff once said to kill the puppy, but our pup ended up living. How insensitive to say that. They told my parents they will return him and he will survive, next thing you know they gave us the puppy all DEAD.These people DIDNT explain anything, I’m pretty sure those techs killed him because nobody asked for our permission to kill him. This staff is always rude, and I been here twice. My parents have been here 3x and it’s always staff.I do not appreciate these people always charging us $300-400 every time, and especially after killing our dog without any consent. Ridiculous.Save your time and head to Burlington road hospital.
We had to take our pup here for an emergency and they treated me like I was the only person there, despite the four hour wait. All of the staff that I talked to were very kind and kept me informed with her progress. I felt very thankful to have taken her to such a great place! I highly recommend After Hours Vet Emergency!
In the early morning of September 9th, we contacted an emergency vet in Greensboro we used once before only to be told they might not be able to help and then started going over pricing... before we even brought our dog in. How do you know if you can help without even seeing our pet? Immediately I called After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic and the lady at the front desk, not knowing a single thing about my dog, says hurry, bring him in and well be waiting for you. Unfortunately, my dog passed away on the way there but they took him in just to be sure, let me stay with him in a private room, allowed time for my wife and children to arrive to say goodbye and told us to stay as long as we wanted. In one of the worst times in my familys lives, we were treated with kindness and love from complete strangers. They did not charge us for the visit, assisted us with aftercare and today, I received a signed card in mail with ink prints of our wonderful dogs nose and paw. This is by far one of the most caring facilities you can ever take your pet into in the event of an emergency. I hope no one ever has to use them, but if you do, I highly recommend these guys!
Brought my dog at 3:30 am to clinic. He had bloat and he was seen and treated immediately by Dr. Samantha Eldred. She was very professional and transparent about his condition. She skillfully performed surgery and saved his life. The staff was very kind and responsive to my wife and I whenever we called for updates during his 2 day stay in clinic. Met with Jessica at discharge and she was very good at going over instructions. I highly recommend this clinic. Very grateful they were available to save our dog.
Took my girl in for bad belly pain, but got diarrhea medicine for a dog that is constipated, maybe stopped up somehow. WORST VET EVER. Would not ever bring my pet to these hacks, getting all your money is all they care about. No x-rays like I wanted, they did blood work for no reason. It cost more was the real reason, more money for the crooks.
My pup was being hella outta the norm (late night on a weekend of course) so I called around and expressed what my worry was (overheating) and most places this particular night were on Multi hour waits and also would say heat? Oh bummer. Call back in a few hours were booked. However, here, Brett answered and more or less went hey if you think its a heat related issue, while were on a 6 hour wait dont play around with that. Just show up to an emergency vetAnd so here I came. Awesome service from the moment I saw Brett at the counter to every interaction with the other staff. So yeah. 5/5.
The staff was very professional and took Jane back immediately. She had been bitten by a snake. The vet was very thorough with her care and explanation of treatment.
This place does what they need to do, but they don’t make it a pleasant experience. I rushed my cat here last night and was told that his condition was serious, but they showed very little concern for the value of his life and instead focused on the value of my money. The technician coldly told me with tears rolling down my face that I either pay the initial $1500-1700 for 24 hours of hospitalization along with an extra 2-3 days of monitoring resulting in $3000 total for a 3 day visit, or put him down within the first 5 minutes of getting the news of his condition. I understand that this is an after hours clinic and that will make it more expensive, and I will pay every single dollar I need to to keep my baby alive but they wanted to wring me dry of my funds. If that wasn’t the case and they truly cared for the well-being of animals knowing that not everyone just has stacks laying around, they would have given me other options as to where else I could take him or whatever. I got in touch with another vet hospital and brought him over there and am having to pay 60% less than what they would have charged me. They still charged me for $1600 even though he only stayed with them for less than 12 hours while I waited for other vets to open. Not to mention, while I was crying talking to family members on the phone for emotional support and advice 10 minutes after he left me, the technician felt no problem in stepping back in and letting me know that he is waiting on me to make a decision.Only go if you really need to, and if you do, be ready to break the bank.
I have used this veterinary clinic several times over the years for emergency pet services when my vet. office was closed. They are wonderful for the pets and owners. Very kind, compassionate, and skilled even for pumping a dogs stomach when they ingest chocolate pie. Their prices are very reasonable too. I highly recommend them!
I can say so many good things about this place. Customer service gets 110% cleanliness awesome. I havent never been to an emergency veterinary that was so welcoming. I will always bring my babies here. Kudos to you all.
After Hours Veterinary has a friendly capable staff and have worked hard to work with the pet and the owner during the Corvid 19 epidemic, I used to work nights and had to use them due to my odd sleep hrs, they were very accommodating. Since I have retired, I have switched over to there day time hrs and they have done well with my dog JJ.
Brought our dauschund Toby, 12 yrs. old with major throwing up, pancreatitis, dehydrated and these people really knew what to do.. very friendly, professional staff and Doctors.
My large breed dog had been diagnosed with bone cancer (osteosarcoma) and in order to ease his pain and extend his life, leg amputation was our only option with a round of chemotherapy after. Not only did After Hours work with us on having the surgery, but the follow-ups, numerous updates on our Hugo’s progress (both during and after surgery), and the sincerity of the veterinarian and the vet technicians made a difficult journey in our dog’s new normal much more bearable. We are so thankful for their time and attention throughout the whole process and am happy to report our Tripawd is doing great.
The staff were amazing. They took care of my pet, diagnosing him quickly and initiating treatment promptly. He required a 2 night stay They communicated with me throughout, never seeming to resent my questions. He looked like his old self when I picked him up. They even showed me how to administer his multiple meds. The trick they showed me worked perfectly. I’m delighted.
The vets always keep whats best for the pet at the forefront of all decisions made. Front staff is always friendly, even when they are super swamped.
The people there were really nice and professional and just overall took very good care of my cat, Ciel. However, the only reason why I give a 4/5 stars is because I was prescribed pain killers and antibiotics for him due to his teeth. Its only the second day of me giving him these and while opening the pack of 6 or 9 Antibiotic tablets (cant remember the exact amount off the top of my head) I was given, I had to open 3 before I finally got 1 because two of them were actually empty in the pack, but I know you guys have no control over this since they come pre-sealed.
I have taken my two dogs and cat here for everything from minor booboos at 6pm when I was worried about infection, to panicked moments at 3am when my old man with a heart murmur would start coughing in the middle of the night, and even at midnight when the time came to make the final decision about his quality of life. I received nothing but the kindest, most prompt care of all my animals, no matter the time or the severity of the problem (they have also treated a bladder infection for my cat and handled the surgery and after care of removing a benign tumor on one of my dogs). The vet techs are just as friendly and knowledgeable as the lead veterinarians. The whole staff is patient and wonderful even when handling the toughest of situations. I have also found the cost, considering the nature of afterhours visits, to have always been reasonable and I know they do offer a payment plan system to those who may need it.I will always bring my pets to After Hours if the situation arises. I feel confident in the quality of care they will receive and it is comforting to know that no matter what time of day it is, the staff will be there to help.
My pups are always in good hands.
My first time going, only because I wasn’t able to locate local veterinarian, being that this was a Saturday. Oh where do I even begin?!. I was given rates for initial evaluation & x rays which wasn’t a problem. Then I finally got a call from Vet, since I had to wait outside, although other folks were able to go in & see their pet in exam room. I was not!!!! I was aware of the cost for the evaluation & xrays but vet said there would be additional cost for treatment & that someone would follow up with me in 5 minutes to give me the total cost.... 1:45 minutes later receptionist then calls said my dog was ready for DC. When she gave me that total I was shocked!!! No one followed up with me as far as additional cost, I didn’t think that it would go 100’s of dollars more than was expected!!!! I found that very unprofessional & such a burden to my pockets without a heads up! I could well have made money arrangements & a few calls to get that money on such short notice. Unfortunately I was unable to buy medications from their clinic so I asked for a RX to take to my local veterinarian. Things took a whole turn then! My dog was literally ready to be given back to me if I hadn’t asked for a RX to give to my vet. Took a whole other hour for Vet to sign off on RX because supposedly Vets had switched off & that the new shift vet was in sx, well when I finally got “ RX” it was signed by the first treating Vet!!??????. Long story short very unethical & very unprofessional staff!!!! Never returning!!!!!!!!!!
We were there in August 2020 with our 19-year-old cat and beloved family member, and they were awesome. On the day we did put Dusty down, we were so sweetly given extra time with him alone, and every effort was made by the staff to soften the sadness of that experience. Will always recommend them!
I took my dog into them on a Friday afternoon. He has had a bad experience at a vet when he was little so he’s very unsure of strangers. The vet(Samantha) who worked on him took her time and made sure my guy was checked out thoroughly. I told them do whatever they needed to do. His old vets office was a emergency vet as well and it would be $450 up front plus the cost of whatever they did. Luckily Afterhours was a lot more reasonable.Samantha talked to be for about 10 minutes explaining my dogs condition. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go in with him due to COVID but they made sure my guy had a good experience. I am very thankful for them!I had many recommendations and I would recommend someone to them for an emergency as well!
Samson is my 12yr 6mo Bull Mastiff. Since Aug 2008, the longest we were apart was for 6 days in Oct 2018 when my Dad passed in NE Illinois. He lived as long as he did through his pains & illnesses, because He knew, I couldnt make it without His big, bed hogging, butt! He was right!! As a combat services Marine & Hostile environment Shoulder, though not schooled, Sammy was given all the exemptions & benefits as a service K-9. Not 2 bad, when on his hind legs, at 62, I could look directly into the eyes of this 185lb service K-9!! Even with the brace I had hand made for him, at under 135lbs he couldnt stand or walk on his own anymore. His already, consistency altered, food & water no longer stayed down. I couldnt let him suffer that way. Here at After Hours Vet service. They understood my Love, my concern, my inability for rational thought, my constant follow up to just see him before he was sent to the crematorium. I couldnt bury him, he hated to be left outside or alone for any extensive period of time. The compassion, understanding & patients they gave Sammy(Samson) & I, far exceeded level of care! Sending pics tomorrow. Having them transferred to print right now, look for them Mon-Tues Oct 26-27 if your interested in my story
I almost lost my little dog 2 years ago and they were able to save her.She came through with no lingering side effects. And is still doing great 2 years later.
I arrived at 10:45 am on a Sunday with a very distressed dog, who could not stand up very long without falling. I called and asked for assistance with getting him out of the car, so I wouldn’t drop him. I was told someone would be out to help me. Five to ten minutes later: NO SHOW. I was able to carry him in, only to have to wait quite awhile...AND also asked to fill out paper work, when I needed to hold on to my dog, in order to keep him from falling. Then I am told that my dog would be examined within an hour. It was much longer than that. Then, the vet wouldn’t treat him and simply gave me only a little bit more information than I found on the internet. I was told I could check out at 1:50 pm. At 2:00 pm they still had my dog. I had a ride waiting for me and explained that to the receptionist. Finally, at 2:15 pm, I got my dog back and was able to leave.POST SCRIPT: I did receive a call the Wednesday after the Sunday appointment from a person from After Hours asking how my dog is doing. And I did let her know that he is doing much better after a treatment from his regular veterinarian.
Be prepared to pay! Staff should inform customers of what the services cost!
I was new to the area and had a sick pet near closing time for Banfield. They would not take him and I thought I could get to Winston Salem Banfield. before they closed but they said they did not have enough time to take him and suggested that I go to an emergency clinic. Since I lived just down the street. I went to Gilford and was welcomed with open arms. Everyone was friendly and professional. This dog was usually very standoffish when my husband was not around . Even though he was not there and I had to stay in the car due to COVID my pet acted like he had been there thousands of times when they finally brought him out to me. He was happy and the people stated that he had been perfect and they were all loving on him is why it took so long to bring him out to me. The Dr. was so prompt in calling me all results before I picked up the dog. I was so happy with the care and all those working with me and my pet that it didnt matter that they did not accept my Banfield insurance which I was made aware of before they treated my dog. I have been back a few times but am now living back in Winston so I have continued my pets care here. Im sure that you will find everything excellent about the entire experience.
They are the best .... caring, love your animals ..... very professional10 STARS !!!!!
Cared for my pet but that was about it. Man at front desk was rude and uncalled for.
Twice in the last I have needed the services of these folks and twice they have saved my precious Hoover. If it wasnt for them he would have returned to Bastet and left me without my faithful little friend. Hoover is family and I will spend whatever I need to in order to protect his quality of life. THANK YOU SO MUCH for being there when Hoover and I needed you!!!
When our furry kids need a fantastic doctor and loving professional care, 24-7, these peeps are life saving and treat you like family! I have been there several times and always come away confident we got the best care for our awesome animal children! (and at any time night or day, when most arent open)
My precious little Abigale passed away suddenly at the age of 13 & they were so compassionate & sweet to me! I have never had an animal pass before & they walked me through all the options available. Now I have her ashes with me forever & I am grateful for the professionalism & dignity in such a hard time! Thank you so much!
We have been using this vet for several years and have always been satisfied with the vet service. The office staff has been great until today. Natalie was the receptionist who dealt with us. She was rude to everyone that came in while my daughter was there. They needed a deposit before she could leave the cat. She had taken our debit card. Natalie was a total witch. I asked to speak with her supervisor and she said her supervisor was there Monday. She kept saying she was in charge of taking the money. I asked to speak with the Dr. because after all we would have to come back and pay the balance. I would be able to be there with my card to pay the balance. She said the Dr. wasnt her boss and refused to let me talk to them. I could leave my number for Monday. The cat was sick Sunday NOT Monday. Dr. Strek and Hall have always been great to us but I have to admit this visit has given me pause. If you cant get past a receptionist thats pretty bad.
NEVER HAD A PROBLEM, BEEN GOING HERE OVER 20 YEARS.
I took my cat here for the first time ever, & I will NEVER recommend this facility to anyone unless it’s an emergency. Even then, the staff will try to sell you extra services for no reason whatsoever. I walked in expecting to pay $70 for first time visit & just to get blood work done which came out to $250 which I thought, “ okay this is a bit pricy but I can work with it”. I ended up paying $500 in total. The assistant was transparent about possibly requiring x rays which I then gave my consent only if necessary, keep in mind I came in for only blood work but I was not updated on anything throughout the procedure! They’re indifferent to the animals. Very unprofessional. Save yourself the money & time. PLEASE..
My family and I have used the Guilford College/After Hours clinic several times in the past for emergencies and end of life care for our dogs. Most recently, it was time for my precious Dougie to make his journey across rainbow bridge and Dr. Hall was amazing with me. She sat with me during the whole procedure and was so sympathetic and kind. She was a god send for sure. The entire staff shared their condolences and even sent a card to me after. I was so impressed by the staff and especially Dr. Hall, that I have now adopted her as my full-time Vet. Our new puppy, Yogi, is always happy to see the staff at GCAH. I would definitely recommend this clinic for any of your pets needs!
I have taken my dog here many times and I have always been very satisfied with the care that she received. Our most recent visit was the night that she was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure for the first time. She was scared and so was I. The staff did a great job and put us both as ease. The price is so much better than my local Emergency Veterinarian that I drive 40 minutes from Winston-Salem. For a non-life threatening emergency (due to the distance) it is my first choice ever time.
They took excellent care of my dog. She had to stay over night and what I paid was less than the estimate. They even called a few days later to check on her.
When we take our pets somewhere we all want them to be treated in the best way possible and every time I take Loki here they provide just that, great respectable care for my best friend!
This place is awesome! My baby needed help at 12am and they were great I was very happy about my bill TOO it was under 150 for the Er and the treatment every where else was wanting 400 to 700 for ER visit. I would galdly recommend After Hours.
Recently I had a friend add a new Australian Shepherd to their family. Everything was great until about 3 days later when she stopped wanting to eat and started acting very lethargic. My friend called me and I immediately said she needs to go After Hours (even though she lives in High Point and its a 30min drive). I have had experience with a sick puppy of my own about a year ago who had Parvo and this vet was incredible! Our puppy made it through and is super happy and joyful today. I was nervous that this new Aussie pup was showing the same symptoms so my friend jumped in the car and went straight there.I called After Hours to warn them prior to what I thought was going on and they were overly booked already that day, but the vet said they would make room for my friend if she got there within 30mins. They went out of their way to help my friend with her puppy. They have always been super helpful and they treat their customers, both furry and human, like family. I highly recommend After Hours. Best emergency vet around!
Everyone who works here is fabulous! A lot of them know and remember my dogs each time I come in, which makes all the difference when they have existing health problems! The prices are very fair, especially considering the added convenience that I would expect to pay for at a vet that is open 24-hours a day. I love that I can take my babies to the vet outside of my work hours, so I dont have to take off work just to keep them healthy! It means a lot to me to have the flexibility of timing that After Hours has. Sometimes you will have to wait longer than at a normal vet, but you should expect that if youre going ANYWHERE without an appointment. Highly recommend!
Such a great experience, my Shepherd was a mess with a UTI and the team was quick to help him out and get us on our way, great value.I have been to the other emergency vet and it was the opposite, I felt taken advantage of in a time of need.
My 13 year old shih-tzu collapsed in September and this was the closest vet to Kernersville that was open after hours. From the start, this place was amazing. They rushed us in as they saw Oreo’s state. Understanding that my husband and I are newlyweds and couldn’t afford to do all tests, the vet recommended the most cost effective option. We sadly found that due to an enlarged heart, he had to be put down. The staff that night were empathetic, considerate, and kind as we made one of the most difficult decisions any pet parent has to make. They gave us a bigger room when my whole family came to say goodbye to our sweet boy and allowed us to be there without feeling rushed. The sweetest touch at the end is when we got a paw print of him as a keepsake. Thank you to the wonderful staff!
I take my dogs here for their rabies vaccinations. My dogs are not socialized well so they tend to freak out. The staff takes their time with them.
5 star service with incredibly reasonable prices. Brought my dachshund Tony in late at night when he was attacked by another dog. I was so upset and scared for my dog but also for how much it would cost. The staff was so friendly, helpful, and kind to my little pup and now he’s healing fast with minimal scarring and no permanent damage. I definitely thought I’d be paying $500+ for this emergency visit.. but it was half that!
We always bring our pets here for emergencies. Everyone is super nice and caring and very professional. They have a great system in place for protecting everyone from Covid.
I can not thank the staff at After Hours enough. Dr. Swen Samoska was wonderful and really cared about our cat. They worked with our financial issues and helped us cut cost where they could. The staff was always kind and friendly when we called for updates (which was 2-3 times a day) and always kept us informed. I definitely recommend this place!
I like the fact of knowing that, if an emergency arises, at any time, I have a safe and reliable place to take my fur babies to!During non-emergency times we also receive great care!
Thank you for taking exceptional care of my very special needs dog last night. It’s always stressful to take her to a new practice, because she has a lot of quirks, both medical and behavioral. Every single member of your staff, from the receptionist to the veterinarian, went out of their way to make Dottie feel comfortable and accommodate her needs, which made it a much less stressful visit for both of us. The cost and wait time were extremely reasonable for an emergency visit, and I’m very grateful that you guys were there!
I had a 5 week old puppy with a major injury on the weekend. They got us right in and took great care of him and they were amazing. Price was high but it was after hours. I would reccomend them always.
My Ridgebacks have always received professional care here with a most friendly and knowledgeable staff.I use this facility for routine and emergency care and highly recommend all their staff.Dr. Streck and Dr. Hill are great Veterinarinans along with all their staff.Gail Walters& Roko & Aussie. 🐾🐾🐾🐾
Wouldnt go again especially knowing if u cant pay, youll loose you animsal and barely got him back Without money u will loose ur dog. We paid $1750. We had to get a loan and borrow from friends. Thay fixed him, but it was a diturbing event.go anywhere else.
They took wonderful care of our mixed breed puppy when she found something nasty outside and ate it. They only did necessary tests and Ellie was fine by the next day. Lovely staff and doctors.
I had questions about my dogs health and care providers were very inattentive to the situation. Over charged for the visit, and I never even got to see the doctor in person to speak to him/her about my dog. Wouldn’t recommend a visit here unless it is life threatening.
I came in with my sick cat last night and waited to be seen after talking to the woman at the front desk who was super polite. My fiance and I walked in the room once our cats name was called and spoke with an assistant who was constantly rolling her eyes and getting an attitude anytime she would ask a question. Before the actual vet even saw my cat at all the assistant was making assumptions and tried to tell us that the cat probably needed a 1200 dollar procedure but could cost more. Before that she was being pushy about xrays being done and blood work but she literally never even looked at the cat because she stayed in the pet carrier. The actual vet was very nice though but Im definitely not going back. They should really lose the assistents with condescending attitudes. Also who the hell starts trying to add hundreds of dollars to someones first visit and doesnt even look at the animal first?
My dog was handled with care and very thorough exam. Great caring staff
The receptionist wouldn’t allow me to remain in the building with the dog that is under MY name because I’m under 18 and not deemed financially responsible, so I had to sit in my car while I waited to find out what was wrong with MY dog. Note the vet himself and one of the younger ladies that worked there had no problem with me being there since I was already in the examination room but I was forced to leave by the receptionist. Long story short I’m never going there again.
We had brought in our dog named Spyro last week around midnight. He was attacked by a dog pretty badly. We went in as worried parents and came out with relief. Everything was handled quickly and easily. They kept us in the loop and gave us a play by play. Even after I left, I called them constantly bothering them for a week with questions and concerns and they were patient and extremely helpful. Haha . I highly recommend this place and appreciate everything they have done. Thank you!! My little man is almost himself again.
The only place I will take my pets, after hours or not. Theyre honest, professional, kind. They have been there for me every time; on the phone or in person.
My dog age a ton of chocolate and we went to their after hours thing. My wife took him, and had my wallet with my cards. They refused service unless my wife drove 20 minutes home to pick me up to verify my identity with the card, and 20 minutes back, while at the same time saying time was of the essence with his health.Gotta love having a dog in an emergency situation being turned down because my wife didnt have my literal face to verify my identity. That 40 minutes could have been deadly.
The staff was professional and didn’t seem to be unfriendly toward my cat, but the price is double that of the regular vet.Save your money. Wrap up the wound with some antibiotic cream and wait until your regular vet’s clinic is open. $750-900 is not necessary to spend for a wound needing stitches.(They were unable to provide this alternative to a more radical procedure using surgery and a drain, but this is not my first or even tenth rodeo. My cat just needs stitches)I will not be returning to this business and will actively be advising others against using them as a resource since I felt like they were profit driven. The visit was a waste of money and time other than the meds they were able to prescribe a half day earlier than I could have obtained them otherwise.
Love the staff! They are caring and always take great care of my Cody!
Luckily, my emergency was not an emergency after all. From the front desk to the doctors, we were seen quickly, procedures and pricing explained thoroughly with options. I was not rushed, nor made to feel like I had to agree to all of the services. Im considering changing and using them as my regular vet.
We were denied service because I wanted to pay with my husbands card, and they needed him there with an ID to accept payment. FaceTime or over the phone would not work, for a debit card. We live 20 minutes away and my husband was home with our sleeping son. Time was of the essence and they weren’t even polite about the situation, they didn’t seem to care if my dog got cared for or the help he needed, just that my husband would come in to show his face...the vet down the road we ended up going to did not care, and understood this was a time sensitive issue
Showed up to get my 2 cats their rabies shot for the special $9 each advertised price. I left without any shots. Here is what happened.A Tech came to take one of them into the back where the shot is administered and I asked if I could be with my babies while the shot was given. The attitude changed instantly from friendly to annoyed by both the Tech (white female, long wavy brown hair) and the receptionist (Black female, short hairdo). I was informed I couldn’t go into the back room because of insurance reasons blah blah. So I ask in return, “Can we not just use one of these rooms?” Gesturing to the several rooms that I’ve usually gone into at every other vet. I get “We will check,” as a response. So I wait.Later another tech passes by after delivering news to a Lady about her animal *in the lobby* where I can clearly hear every word and asks politely “Can I go ahead and take anyone back for you?” I told him someone was going to go check about room availability. So I wait.A man with white fluffy hair comes out and sits at the front desk with the receptionist soon after. He is probably out there 5-10 minutes before I hear him mention the names of my cats to the receptionist. I look up and say “I heard someone say my cat’s names,” with a smile on my face.He asks me if they can go ahead and take a cat back. Still smiling I tell him with a chuckle that he is the third person to ask me that and I was waiting for them to check room availability. At this point this man begins to explain to me that the $9 shot price is only offered when they take them into the back (where you can’t watch or comfort your pets) and that I COULD chose to go into a room but that I would be charged a different price to, are you ready for this, “...take up the Dr’s time and to be in her presence.”Just wow. After that I googled the place and read over the reviews. Yeah, no. I got up and left. I understand policy is policy, even if I think it’s stupid, but there is no excuse to treat customers with annoyance and attitude when it’s an employee’s job in a customer service business to be polite!Won’t return and won’t recommend. 👎🏻
I been a customer of this practice ever since my vet closed several years ago. I have always received excellent and compassionate care for my pet from routine visits to problem visits (like a snake bite on my cat’s paw!). Dr. Streck and staff are tops. I don’t expect ‘cheap’ care and am happy to pay for the expert care provided, the same as at my medical doctor. I don’t believe they charge any more than I have paid in the past at my other practice. There is the added benefit of after hours care should you need it. This is a great veterinary practice.
The staff was great, very friendly and reassuring....our boy was well taken care of and seen promptly...
We brought our cat to this clinic a few months ago. We chose this clinic as it was nearby and offered regular Veterinary services for registered animals. As well, being an emergency clinic after hours and on weekends we thought this was of benefit. We initially brought our cat in when she was experiencing bowel distress and weight loss. We brought her in several times with the same concerns. After three rounds of two types of antibiotics she continued to be in distress. On one of our visits we pointed out a lump on her abdomen. Our issue with this clinic is that they were unwilling to address the lump which was evident. The first vet we pointed it out to told us it was of no concern as she felt it was not attached to the abdomen and not cancerous. Two weeks later I brought my cat in again for the same issues. I was not seen by the vet but the attendant who took my cat into the backroom to see the vet who is also the director of the clinic. I requested that the vet look at her lump. The vet greeted me in the general waiting room not an exam room and discussed the digestive issues but dismissed the lump. I asked again if the lump was a concern and if it might be the cause of her other issues. I was answered with... It is cancer but theres no way of knowing if its spread. I was told just to take care of the digestive problems. I asked what to do if the lump gets bigger and was told if its a concern I could bring her back in, but basically theres nothing they can do.Our cat continued to loose weight but her expanding belly was of concern. We decided to take her to the Cat Clinic Of Greensboro who immediately identified that the lump was cancerous just by feeling it. Xrays were done on the spot and showed her abdomen was full of fluid and the cancer had spread to her liver. It was so bad that she didnt make 24 hours before we had to put her down.I dont know how this clinic could have missed this, as well did not want to address it after voicing our concerns. We would not have put our cat through cancer treatment but it would have been better to know what was going on. Instead we watched her suffer through a month or so of misdiagnosed treatment. We will not be returning there with our other cat and will continue to go to the Cat Clinic of Greensboro. In the case of emergency we will travel the distance to seek another after hours clinic.
Had to take one of my many animals to the after hours clinic, whom I have gone to for at least two decades. I had the her speak to me over the phone which was on speaker with others listening as she was condescending to me about a tumor that had ruptured on my dog’s chest that I didn’t even realize was below the fur. She constantly asked me if I could keep a bandage clean for 2 days until I saw my regular vet without ever asking how the dog lived, inside or out, or how much we care for our animals and love them. Then when she said let your vet handle the biopsy on Monday, I questioned why she couldn’t do that today and send it off so that it would arrive sooner and a treatment plan could be started, but that was beyond her concern. I have had animals all of my 40+ years of life and had many different Vets over the years, but I will never let that Vet or practice touch another one of my animals because of the disrespect she showed. I expressed my concerns to the vet technician, who apologized, and said would relay it to Bet, but she still never appeared to say anything? What type of Vet or person in a professional position such as this would leave it up to others to account for her bad behavior. Maybe she can go back for some retraining or CE’s on professionalism and dealing with the public to improve her skill set!
Amazing care for my sweet babies! They treat us like family and I trust no one else with the care of our pups. Best care in the Greensboro area hands down!
They took care of Chloe and my son and I. My son was very upset and crying and the vet tech was amazing and answered all his questions and mine. This was an overwhelming and scary event but they made it as easy to manage as possible. The follow up care is lot for us but we are managing thanks to the vet and vet techs time and instructions. Its good to know that although we are bringing her Monday to find out next steps, if anything happens over the weekend we can come back in.
We take our fur babies for after hours emergency here only. Every time I call during the day some of the staff members are so rude. I’ve talked to the Vet Christi Hall and Tasha Lambeth claiming to be the “manager of the office” and they both had a very nasty attitude and talked over me. They both picked up the phone with a very bad tone. This is not a way to talk to a paying customer. No apology was given and extremely confrontational. On the other hand Dr. Jason Strek and Dr. Swen Samoska have always been amazing and very kind to us but it’s unfortunate that these two other staff members are making this facility look so bad. I’m very dissatisfied with the service. I wish the owner of the facility would look into this matter.
Only worried about how much money they can get out of you. No compassion for the animals.
Wonderful service to me and my dog. Kind, efficient and very professional. Have used them previously with my other dog and was very pleased. Thank you!
I came here a while back and received horrible service. It was after hours and there were not many choices so I came here. They kept running tests which were so expensive and ended up not telling us anything other than my dog was running a fever. They said they could run more tests for $5,000 to which I declined as they had not found anything with the first few rounds of tests. The bill was outrageous for them finding NOTHING. Staff was not very pleasant either so will not be returning. Two days later I saw her normal vet and they told us exactly what the issue was with minimal tests/cost. In conclusion, I will drive all the way to Wake County if necessary as I have heard great things about their emergency vet and will never return to this location or any place that is affiliated. They dont seem to care about the animals, just the money they can get.
I strongly advise taking your pet elsewhere. A week prior to bringing our cat to this clinic he was treated for an upper respiratory infection at our family vet. Last night I noticed that he was a lot more lethargic than usual and walking little funny. So in a moment of panic, we packed up the car and headed to Greensboro. Upon arrival, we were immediately placed in an exam room and began to feel at ease due to the fast service. A tech came into our room, asked us questions about his visit at our regular vet and *somehow* knew what shot out vet had administered even though I could not recall the exact name of it. She then explained that the shot they gave him was not at all for an upper respiratory infection.. again odd since we hadnt given her a specific name. She then explained that she was going to take him to the back and that we would have to sit in the waiting area for the doctor to call us back after he finished the exam. (Although I can respect a company policy, I was very very uncomfortable with the situation.) After sitting in the waiting room, the same tech came out, in front of all the other people in the room, to relay information the vet had supposedly told her. I asked for prices for and exam and antibiotics, and she repeated ok I will get a price for an exam and antibiotics. She comes back out to the waiting area to tell me that an exam, antibiotics, and *four* other procedures she hadnt mentioned before would come to a total of $245. I politely declined and explained that it would be cheaper for us to pay the exam fee and then take him to our family vet first thing in the morning. Her attitude completely changed and she had a very loud and rude comment to say about us (in front of other patients) as she walked past the desk. Only AFTER I declined treatment did I see the doctor face to face. He began to tell me not one, not two, but THREE completely different symptoms my cat was having that the tech had not mentioned.First thing this morning, I brought our cat to our family vet. He was absolutely astonished by the uncalled for procedures that vet had recommended. He could not make sense of my cats vitals in the discharge note or the doctors notes at the bottom. He then told me a more sensible reason about why my cat had been acting funny, and gave me the same antibiotics, and painkillers (which that vet strongly suggested avoid dnd do nothing for his .8 above normal temperature as it could some how make his condition worse), for $94...I understand being in a tight spot and having a to bring your pet to a 24 hour vet.. but please please consider driving the extra mile to another clinic.
No one wants to have an emergency with their pet. My miniature Dachshund was struck by a truck. The staff calmed my sister who was caring for my dog and then took care of The Fred. I have found it necessary to take Fred to the clinic more than once.We dont choose the time of an emergency. Having an emergency facility to care for our special loved one is really great. The care given was first quality.
Wonderful Doctors And techs I bring my cats here. They get the best of care. I will not go any where else. They work with your budget and make a treatment plan on what test you want to run they do not push you to do any tests. They do recommend what your cat needs. Thank you from Simba And Lana for the great care they get
The employees here are insensitive people I wouldnt recommend this place for your pet.
From the front desk to the techs and Doctors. I had a great experience. They saved my dogs life. I could not express my gratitude to After hours enough. I read the reviews but still gave them a chance im glad I did. I will be recommending them too all my friends and family
I had to take my dog unexpectedly in last week and unfortunately he passed away the following day. The staff were amazing, very caring, very knowledgeable. They let me stay in the room with him for a couple of hours after he passed and I never once felt rushed. They were amazing and I would definitely go back.
Do not recommend what so ever. The vet was very unsympathetic and the receptionist was not friendly. These people are money hungry and did not provide us with all of our options upfront when we brought our puppy in for Parvo. It was either spend thousands of dollars for in clinic treatment or put her down! We could not afford this and made the tough decision to put her down. ONLY THEN the vet elects to inform us we had another option of home treatment (way cheaper)! Said she only had 50/50 chance with home treatment and days later she is eating/drinking/playing again! Will never go back there again!
I truly think this vet took advantage of me. I visited this vet two separate times for my cats strange behavior, and after spending $500 and being absolutely distraught that the vet was not able to determine what was wrong with my cat, my mom diagnosed her behavior as being in heat over the phone. I am angry that they were unable to notice the signs of an extremely common behavior, and I truly think they took advantage of the fact that I was upset in order to get me to spend hundreds on a non-issue. I will NOT be returning here.
We were visiting family when my 2 yr old 18 lb mixed breed dog became sick. We thought she may have gotten a pill that was unknowingly dropped on the floor. I never saw a Vet, only a Tech but I was ok with that along as my dog was receiving the proper care. I was given an estimated on her care and asked to pay before they would provide care which I understand since I was from out of town and her care would be expensive. My dog is fine and I am very thankful. My only concern is that the cost was very high. I knew that it would be expensive but I have concerns that most people could not afford the expense and there pups would not survive. I would gladly pay the price to save my pup but I think I was taken advantage of and I think it happens a lot in circumstances like mine.
We brought our cat Max to be euthanized. He had liver failure. They were so wonderful and compassionate. They wrapped Max in a soft blanket and my girlfriend held him while they injected him. We petted him as he gently drifted away. They made the best of a very emotionally difficult situation.
Im so sad, i went here to save my puppy 10 weeks old and they wanted 11000 to recon-stuck her jaw so we had to put her down. this place only cares about money
MONEY HUNGRY THIEVES!Shame on this office. Yesterday on 10-14-2018 we visited After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic, PA my displaced mother in law was in need of Science Diet food for her senior peek a poo. We stopped by to purchase a few (3) cans of the food to get them through for a few days since they are displaced from the hurricane which was explained. At first they agreed to sell a few cans to then recanting saying the food we were seeking is for extreme specific needs and vet would feel more comfortable examining the dog before writing prescription for purchase. So they wanted to charge an astronomical fee to listen to the dogs heart and physically see then dog before letting us purchase 3 small cans of food.Is this the type of vet you want to support during a disaster? They seem to be more worried about the dollars then the needs of the animals. Shame of this vet for this behavior. I will no support this vet and for those of you who do may want to question them about their morals values and ethics.Since i am not able to reply to your response. I had to edit this post! Even Walgreen will give a few days supplies with out a current prescription on file. Its a crying same you had no compassion at all. But thats ok your competitor up the street was more then Happy to be of a help. Even your reply show ZERO COMPASSION. Again money hungry THIEVES like I stated at the top of my review. Hopefully you and your pet are never found to be displaced from your home and Home town from a disaster and If you should I pray you find a vet that has more compassion then this office has shown.
Terrible customer service. Does not accept payment over the phone!! What kind of emergency clinic has that policy?! Were on vacation out of state, and trying to get the person pet sitting to get our dog treated, and we cant pay for her to get help! Now not only do we have the stress of our dog needing to be treated while were on vacation, but we have to deal with their insensitivity to the situation, as well as sending her to a vet weve never taken her to before. We had gone here before and will never again. I used to recommend this place and now I will recommend any other vet.
Two years ago we switched from Guildford College Vets to the After Hours Vet Clinic and weve been very happy with the service weve received. The doctors here have a genuine interest in the health of our pets and have helped us keep them happy and healthy. They are also wonderful when it comes time for that final visit for your furry friend as well. Being surrounded by people who care and can emotionally support you during those sad times is very important and the people here do a fantastic job. Cant recommend them enough.
Our 13 year old dog became sick very quickly. We rushed her the After Hours clinic where they took very good care of her. They explained all of our options and painted an honest picture of her health. We had to put her to sleep. It was an extremely hard decision and they were compassionate and caring. I will always be grateful for how they handled everything. Thank you
