My husband and I had home owners and auto policies through this agent for 5 years. We sold the home in April and moved to Montana. I cancelled the home owners policy in April as we were moving out. I assumed that they straightened everything out money wise with bank as that was usually handled through escrow. Turns out that despite the phone conversation, the policy was never cancelled which led to us paying the homeowners policy from April until November. I found out that was still in effect when I had just as much trouble trying to cancel the auto policy. Over the phone, I was first told Yep, well cancel those for you. Then later upon prompting them for the cancellation notice/refund Well you didnt send us your new insurance policy information. This hadnt come up before, but I sent it. Then, they started sending everything to the address of my new insurance agent, which someone must have sleepily pulled from my new insurance documents. I asked them to correct that, but they continued to send things there. Later, when we still had no cancellations I asked them again, and the reply was, Well you need to fill out this incomprehensible form and have it witnessed by two people. Before I actually filled it out, the policies were cancelled (with cancellation dates 7 months after the move), and notice and a check for several hundred dollars less than they should have paid, was sent to me at my new insurance agents address. I dont know if it was repeated mistakes or intentional, but I know that its not worth several hundred dollars to keep trying with them.
