My car hit a rough railroad track and turned my front left tire completely to the side. When Gregg got back to me with an estimate I was so relieved. He quoted a reasonable price and did an incredible job bringingour little used car back to life. I was going to the hospital to visit my Mother. I live in Northern Minnesota. My car started running bad and the cel was flashing. Google sent me to this shop. I told JIM my story and he dropped what he was doing to get me on the road fast. My car needed a coil, I was back on the road in less them 3 hours. The price was more than fair. Thanks JIM!!

I brought in my boat for 3 issues, issue #1 was the lower unit output shaft needs to be replaced, when I set up the appointment I told them what I have because not all shops can work on this and they said they can fix it. Issue #2 was that starter engages but doesnt spin, I told them the engine is loose (not seized) and that the starter appears to be frozen. Issue #3 is trailer maintenance. Issue #1, owner looks at the lower unit and says he doesnt have the tools to fix it, cant do it. Issue #2, he confirmed that the state of the starter was exactly what I had told him, but couldnt work on it because he already ordered starters last week and wouldnt order until Friday??. Ive worked in the auto repair industry, Ive delivered parts to the same shops every day of the week. Issue #3, confirmed by spinning the wheels that the bearings seem to be fine but didnt mention, ever again, the inner seal that I told him was leaking. The surge brakes I mentioned did not seem to be working, while the trailer was off the ground, he confirmed this. Proceeded to tell me how much it could cost. As a final result, excluding issue #1 which I understand that his minion didnt understand what I told him I have, I dont want them poke around with that issue, Gregg basically talked himself out of a job worth, potentially, a few thousand dollars, according to him. I have money and am perfectly willing to pay to get this work done. I dragged this boat halfway across the metro for service from a recommendation, 4.8 stars on google. Throw in some attitude from Gregg which was clearly due to his employees inexperience but I ended up being the recipient, and dont forget that Gregg charged me $50 to confirm everything I told him. Thanks Gregg. Feel free to counter every detail I talk about here. One star is required but is one too many.

My wife and I recently purchased a “new” boat to us and our first boat. Our first time on the lake it took on water and Gregg & Jim’s Service was recommended to us. We were completely blown away by the expertise, quality and friendliness of everyone there. They took the time to walk me through how to best care for my boat (better part a hour) and it was apparent they take pride in their great work. It’s safe to say that no one else will work on our boat but the amazing professionals at Gregg & Jim’s Service!

Car wouldn’t hold a charge and $45 later their solution is that I didn’t put the clutch in far enough. If you didn’t find the issue you didn’t find it, but that’s not the problem. The guy helping me says he “looked at the car for 45 minutes” but i’m not sure they looked at it at all. As he’s ushering me out the door he tries to tell me it’s a parasitic battery drain.. well maybe you could’ve checked that while you were working on the car? Tried to rationally voice my frustration and the guy gets aggressive, slams my keys on the table and says “adios”. These guys are patronizing and unhelpful.

I emailed them from their contact form on their website inquiring about a noise coming from my rear wheel well (most likely brakes) on a Sunday while they were closed. I was called at 6:30am the next day by Gregg and he was able to give me a quote and fix both of my rear brakes all within one day. He even offered to pick me up and drop me off. Amazing service. He also gave me a quote on replacing tires. Great mechanic with a long history in the Golden Valley area. Highly recommended. Thanks Gregg!

Amazing service! I woke up to find that someone had sawed off a portion of my exhaust pipe. I called Gregg and Jims and they were able to get my car in immediately! Gregg took the time to explain all the ins an outs of winterizing an inbourd motor to us first time boat owners.

Gregg was great at getting my boat ready for winter. First time customer. He was helpful. No pressure. Taught me things I didn’t know. Didn’t give me the run around and have me pay for stuff I don’t need. Will be a repeat customer.

They were able to fit me in in a pinch and kept me up to speed on what they were working on and the most efficient (and cost effective!) way to complete the work. They also completed a once over on the car when they were finished and noticed a nail in a tire, so they were able to quickly fix that as well!

The folks at Gregg and Jims do great work quickly, and they have unbeatable business integrity. They replaced the timing belt, water pump and related pulleys on our vehicle two years ago, but I recently noticed a noise coming from this area. After bringing the car in, they let me know that one of the pulleys they installed had a manufacturing defect and they would replace it for no charge - even though it had been two years since the initial repair. This could have been a very expensive repair and I was amazed that they fixed it for free. I highly recommend them and am glad to support a local business like theirs.

Great quality work and fast! Dropped my boat trailer off the evening before. Secure drop box for keys and detailed slip to fill out. Greg called me the next morning to go over the issue. Received a call back a few hours later and went over everything in detail with me. Decided to hold back on one thing because it didnt need to be done. Definitely looking out for the customer! This place is amazing! The Volkswagen dealership quoted me $130 just to look at my oil leak. Greg and Jim charge $25 and they waive that fee when they fix it. Very prompt response and solid answers. I will be a lifelong customer.

Mechanics you can trust. This is the only place I will take my car for repairs and service. Prices are more than fair and they will not tell you that you need work done that you dont need. Brought in my Honda for its oil change service, plus check for a slow leak in a tire and troubleshoot faulty license plate lights. Service was really quick, the light problem got resolved cheap and tire was deemed fine. The oil change was $15 less than Midas for full synthetic. Ill keep coming here for sure.

I took my sons car in for a repair and he said that he had an appointment but no time was set up. So when I showed up they had a open bay. They said to call and make an appointment that they were extremely busy. I ended up walking out and will never return. When a friend ask me if I go to Greggs that he stated he didnt because they were to high in price, I should have listened.

They are honest and reasonable. I was quoted for a relatively major repair and when I came to pick up the car they said they were able to fix my problem for less money than estimated. Also, they are nice guys.

However, I recently brought my vehicle into a Jiffy Lube and had issues after the oil change; I drove my car in and it wouldnt start after they finished. After hours of attempts to fix it on-site I requested they tow it to Gregg & Jims. Although Jiffy Lube did pay for the claim & repairs, I would never go through a turn and burn place again. Gregg & Jims is fair, honest, and clearly in the business of helping people. No one likes unexpected out-of-pocket expenses, but their knowledge and guarantee makes it much more reassuring. Topnotch in my book!

This is the worst service I have received in my entire life. I was yelled at by one of the owners when I asked about checking the oil in the lower unit of my boat. I was asked by him why I dont know how to check the level myself. I was also lectured on why I didnt have my plug pulled when I brought it in. I have NEVER, EVER been treated so rudely by anyone that I was actually paying money to. I have absolutely no idea how they can stay in business. I will drive out of my way to spend my hard earned money at this place. Take you business somewhere else!
