Terrible place. Could not get a price for an oil change which is all I wanted. Only wanted to give me estimate. Started at $45 to $52. Then jumped to $70 and said it might be a little more I dont know its an estimate were his exact words. Then when I told him I did not want to have anything done he left the oil cap off of my motor and left it on the battery. I seen when he took it off and I asked him specifically before we took off did he put the cap back on his answer of course was yes. Complete liar he was upset because he did not get his commission I would guess. I will never go here again and we suggest to my friends do not engage in their services

If I could I would give no stars to this business and I will not be doing business with them again in the future. The person Andrew that completed inspection broke my center console and tried to cover it up by concealing the damage. After noticing it I called informing the manager Rebecca she stated that her employees wouldn’t do that. I asked what proof do you have that he didn’t damage my car and she was silent. I asked her to provide name of her manager and she refused to answer the question only stating I’m sorry. I told her I don’t need your apology. I needed my vehicle repaired from the damage caused by you employee she stated she would contact her manager who was conveniently gone for the next two weeks then abruptly hung up on me. I will no longer do any business with or can I with good faith recommend this company. And I’m a Galveston native. So beware!I will provide an update if they respond.

Everytime I come to this place some how they find a way to Strip my oil plug . One of the workers stated that they would order me a new plug. A few hours after leaving Kwik kar I realized all my oil was leaking, I’ll never do business with this company ever again . This happened to me multiple times and at this point I’m fed up, if there’s no way u guys can fix this issue I will definitely file a lawsuit because this is ridiculous. I mean how hard is it to do an oil change 🤦🏾

I took my small 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engine car for a regular oil change and they tried to hit me with a $76 price tag. This place is way too over priced. Anywhere else my oil changes are $35 - $40. You must be out of your mind to think $76 for an oil change is a fair price. I will never come back. I felt I was getting ripped off.

I was not gonna write a review until another one of my friends got stiffed by them. They gave extremely overpriced oil changes and definitely take advantage of WOMEN. Every time I went in there I had to say NO about 1,000,000× To extra things I didn’t ask for. All of the employees are definitely trained to sell you things you don’t need. They will pull the air filter out of your car and say this is the air you’re breathing when anybody who knows about cars knows you rarely have to change the inside cabin air filter. I learned the lesson the hard way and will never be supporting this business again.

Had to get oil changed on a trip and was surprised how quick they got me in and how informative the staff was. Would recommend this plce to anyone in need.

I hate to say it but here we go again with another shop trying to commit fraud. I came in for a quick oil change and have been coming here for the last 6 years. I get shops trying to up sale air filters and flushes but to actually try to commit fraud is a whole different story. This employee used a Ethylene Glycol Antifreeze Tester, and told me my radiator had nothing but water in it. I asked him how that could possibly be since I only bring my vehicle to their shop? Do they put water in my radiator? He told me no and even showed me coolant as he was filling my radiator. I again asked him how is that possible then if I only bring this vehicle to your shop? He said that with the recent cold snap we had (it lasted one week) that the cold weather would break down the antifreeze and turn it into water. Really? So one week of cold weather will turn antifreeze into nothing but water. I let him know that I grew up in Illinois, worked as a service advisor in several different shops and what he was telling me was false and fraud. I believe the tester he showed me did in fact have water in it but it didn’t come from my vehicle. And matter of fact, prior to our one week cold snap here in Galveston, I checked my radiator fluid to make sure it was good so I wouldn’t crack my radiator. And if it was just straight water in my vehicle in dang sure would have either cracked my radiator or the block.Here I am tryin to support the businesses on the island and this guy wants to try and commit fraud on a long time customer. Well, you just lost a customer. I won’t be bringing either of my vehicles here any longer. Do better! Be honest!In response to the owners response. No one, no one ever contacted me from your shop nor you and explained anything to me. So what exactly was explained and to who? And how exactly was there a mistake made when your employee showed me a hydro tester with water in it? Fluid supposedly extracted from MY vehicle? It was clearly water in the hydro tester and it was absolutely not taken from my vehicle. So yes, I absolutely do consider that fraud. How exactly do you retrain an employee not to commit fraud? I also emailed you directly which you never bothered to respond to. I also asked every single employee for your contact information which they stated that didn’t have. I find that very hard to believe. I had to call another location just to obtain your email address. This whole situation was handled piss poorly. If you had any concern about customer service at your shop you would have asked your employees for my contact number (which is on file) and called me directly. Your response or lack there of speaksvolumes and I will continue to warn other locals of your shops fraudulent activities. Count on it.***In response to the owners addendum.No one at this shop spoke with me other than the two gentlemen in the shop. And not one but BOTH of them tried telling me the cold weather turned my antifreeze to water. The young lady working cash register also refused to give me the owners contact information stating she didn’t know how to contact him. I had to call the Broadway location to get the owners email. I emailed him the same day and have yet to get a response except from his comment last here which are all false. The employees are lying and the owner is only trying to remove the egg off his shops face. Y’all got caught and confronted. And yet you remain to deny any wrong doing.

We arrived less than an hour before closing, but Justin and Robert were so amazing and said theyd get it done. We needed new roters, too, which they had to drive to go buy and obviously would need more time - but they stayed late to get it all done and were so nice about it, actually getting it done super fast. We were SO thankful to be safely driving the next 1000 miles of our move with perfectly done new brakes at a great price for everything. If youre in Galveston - head to this place! My wife brought her car here for a simple oil change and they couldnt even do that right. They striped out the drain plug and decided to hide it instead of replacing it. We will never return and I will tell everyone I know not to get anything done at this location.

I went in for an inspection sticker today. Easy leash, right?. My car had been serviced a month ago at my dealership, Lexus Clear Lake.The tech said he had bad news: my brake pads were shot and my rear break lights did not come on. I was stunned, because I knew it was not true. He said he could put new break pads on. I declined. Drove to Mr Muffler on Broadway and got my inspection sticker from David in less than 10 minutes.

Came for a quick oil change and Justin was a pretty cool guy and one hell of an employee! I’ll be coming back just because of how professional he was! 10/10 recommend stopping in whatever your car may need!!

I went here because of the positive reviews, which I suspect is a reflection of good service when all goes well, but when there is a disagreement, I can say this is some of the worst customer service I’ve experienced. I came in for a state inspection and possibly an oil change. I asked the price of the oil change. Once Justin told me the price, I said that I did not want the oil change, implying that I just wanted the inspection. Justin left, no confirmation was asked, neither of seemed to think it was necessary. I was wearing a mask, as was Justin, so clearly there was a miscommunication because he went ahead and changed the oil. He later said the cashier should not have pulled my car into Bay 1, where oil changes are performed, rather than to the state inspection bay. Clearly this had nothing to with me. I was of course upset to be charged for an oil change that I did not request. I tried to explain that I was asking the price because if it was too high, I was either going to change my oil at home or go to the dealer (which is a several hour drive away) because I still had a free oil change with them. As if I were being interrogated, he aggressively accused me of suddenly changing my story, like I were trying to make up a story on the spot so that I could steal from them, simply because I was considering two other options for changing my oil,. We replayed the security camera footage. I was wearing a mask, so my facial cues were not obvious. My voice is inaudible because I was not close to the camera, but Justin insisted that I was saying “ok, go ahead” which is impossible. I could at least admit that my voice was unclear on the video, but he continually put words in my mouth and aggressively accused me of lying, which is absolutely not something that I do. He then lectured me about being more clear in my communication. I suggested he confirm with people the work they want if it appears unclear, especially since I asked for a price check for a reason. He cut me off and said “It was crystal clear.” I had to pay the full amount so I could get out of there. They did in fact perform an oil change, so I have no problem paying for services that I received. I am writing my first ever negative review on google, because the treatment I received was just plain offensive.

Very impressed with how professional the staff is at this location. I got my oil changed and was back on the road less than 30 min after I brought it in. Plus you really can’t beat these prices. The manager at this location is doing a great job.

One of the crew accidentally input the vin wrong by one digit. When we later asked them to fix it so we could register our vehicle, the young man argued with my wife and was disrespectful. I brought the vehicle back a couple days later and the guy that I spoke with was awesome, apologized and corrected someone elses mistake without attitude. Be like that guy.

Hey...its Melodys Camry here. I feel pretty good after my engine flush and new gasket. Like a spa treatment. Best part, the bill didnt make my owner faint (bonus cause Im not self driving). Im sure shell bring me here if I need anything.

Went to get an inspection after calling and employee stating they were not busy. Got there, 2 bays open and inspection employee tells me to park in shade and leave keys in car. 45 minutes later, 3 cars arrive after I got there and Kwik Kar begins servicing them (oil change-serviced by inspection employee). Asked about my inspection and employee said that they wait on oil change customers first, regardless of arrival time, and it would be an additional hour before he got to me. Unbelievably poor customer service.

This place is really fast. They could have three cars in front of you to service, and youll still be out of there in 30 minutes. The biggest tell about them, is that one day I went in for an oil change and they let me know that my power steering fluid was getting old, but they did not push for me to change it at all. They made me aware that they could change the fluid, but they put no pressure on me or tried to upsell. I got my power steering fluid changed there the next time I changed my oil.

The mechanic that handled me was nice and very informative. Although, this will be the last time I come to this place. Not worth the wait and on top of it they do not offer military discount, but gladly advertise on their sign outside “Wed Ladies Day 10% off” an absolute joke. As a woman of service I found it pretty disrespectful after spending $150.00 at the place.

I have a 2020 vehicle and the specs for this vehicle are not out yet. They went through the trouble to look up the specs and accommodate me. Vehicle was completed in a timely manner. Personnel were professional and courteous.

Go in for simple oil change. Treated me like an idiot - ‘need power steering fluid flush. You know. So you can steer better. Also saw some bits in your oil. Need an engine flush. See? Here’s your oil filter. You know. The thing that filters your oil.’ Not kidding. Can we please stop the hard-up businesses that not just treat us with disrespect and try to rip us off. But also are so bad at it.

Walked in to get an oil change. As I waited to be seen I noticed in the garage there were workers just joking around with tools. It took two or three guys to service one vehicle. But the final straw that caused me to run out of the shop was the mechanic that could not figure out how to close a car hood. It was clearly obvious that a large hose was causing the hood not to close, but the guy just proceeded to use his body weight to slam the hood shut. I left out of that place so fast! I will not be taking my vehicles to this location. I love the service I get at all Kwik Kars, but there is no way I can go to a place where they don’t know what they are doing, or care to take a job seriously.

Firestone was cheaper on oil change by 40 dollars

Furnished my own oil and filter. Charged me $90 to change my oils and filter. Asked how much they would have charged for a car. Was told $40. It doesn’t take any longer to change oil in my truck than to does a car. Probably easier on my truck because the oil filter is very easy to get to. Other than the cost, service was good.

I took my Sons Honda CRV to kwik Kar ( at 0755 hours on 23 dec 2019 )on 61st Galveston for a simple oil change before heading out to work.The guy who took my car in was specifically told to change the oil only.Soon a another guy walked in to the cabin probably someone in charge and asked me to come into the shop as he had something to show -- well he had the pipe connecting to the throttle body plate removed and kept telling me about the carbon build up and how I needed to clean it.When I told him my engine runs perfectly fine and gives a mileage of 29 to a gallon -- he recommended that Honda wants it cleaned every 30000 miles and if I hadnt done it it would be a good idea-- well since it was my sons car and I didnt want him to get stranded I agreedOn completion I paid $89 dollars for it and drove out-- guess what. !!! I probably drove out 200 yards and the car started stalling and the engine light came on- I returned back and the found out that the mechanic had missed out one last step on on completion of the cleaning.At the end of it all I felt cheated,got late for office and was livid. normally i would have read up on it before agreeing to get a non routine procedure done -- but then I suppose I took a emotional decision being a parentShops sell routine induction service as a way to boost profits. That’s a scam. You don’t need routine throttle body cleaning because your car’s computer is designed to adapt to normal carbon buildup issues. Pay for induction cleaning ONLY when you’ve got a performance issue like a rough idle or stumble on acceleration.Red flag if you go for a simple oil change and the shop opens up some other issue tell them I will come back later.Despite my busy schedule I wrote this so that nobody gets taken for a ride like thisIf they are smart they will make a refund or else I am going to write about this episode on Yelp etc

Went to get car inspected last year at same place, came back today to get inspected, said windows where too dark, I never had those windows changed or anything, manager was very rude to me, will never come back.

I usually dont like Kwik Kars. They always seemed to find something wrong until I got a second opinion from a trusty mechanic who would tell me not to waste my money yet.This location, however, has been good to me so far. These guys are all really friendly and knowledgeable. Theyre willing to bring you to the car and show you things they find. And the always seem to find time to vacuum out my car, which is nice ;pI will continue to use their services. Excellent place.

I got my oil changed here and the staff was GREAT!!! I accidentally told Tyson the wrong kind of oil but the he went out of his way to check and noticed the last time I was in I got a different kind, Tyson confirmed with me and got it corrected! He vacuumed out my car and filled up my tires too! He noticed my tire pressure light was still on so he let me know it is possibly a tire pressure sensor that is out. Tyson rocks! The service was speedy and staff was so kind and helpful! I will definitely be bringing my car here every time!

Went to get a state inspection sticker and they tried to rip me off by saying that I needed a few things done to pass the inspection. Went to my trusted mechanic (they were packed) and he said everything was fine and issued me a sticker right away. Do NOT go here!!!! They take advantage of women by trying to tell you that you need something but you really dont.

Beware of this place! New to town and went for an oil change. After car was in the shop for almost 2 hours, I finally got back on the road! When next oil change was due, I was out of town working; so I went to my Kwik Kar in that town. Then I found out the guy in Galveston ruined the oil pan bolt and he then put a plug in without confessing his mistake to me. I was 300 miles from Galveston with no oil in my car, so I had to pay $900.00 to replace the whole oil pan! Upon returning to Galveston, I want to Kwik Kar with repair invoice in hand. The guy in charge called their other store on 61st street and then informed me there was NOTHING they could do since that service tech no longer worked there! Then HE JUST WALKED AWAY and left me $900 in the hole! I tried to call their corporate office only to find out there is not one! Only the name is sold to business people without any supervision from a non-existent corporate office! 26 years of running a small business and I would NEVER treat a customer so unprofessional! I will never be so trusting again! Good luck if you trust either Kwik Kar in Galveston!

Classic bait and switch. Got oil changed a few weeks ago. Was told differential oil and fuel filters needed service. I asked price, I was told $90 for fuel filters and $90 for differential oil change. Told them I would come back when I had more time. Came in today, different person told me the cost would be $260. Shop around folks.

I dropped in to get my Texas vehicle inspection. Everyone was courteous and intent on getting me out quickly. Cheap too!

Went to change the oil on a family members vehicle who last had it changed by Kwik Kar. The oil drain plug was so horribly damaged that I had to change the entire oil pan because no damaged bolt extractor could remove it. The oil filter was on so tightly that even with a filter wrench it could not be removed and I had to drill it so that I could get a screwdriver handle inside to turn it off. Ended up spending about $75 to change the oil due to the damage that Kwik Kar caused to the vehicle. I would not recommend anyone to take their vehicle to this business unless they want it damaged. Ive never seen such a horrible job done on something so simple as an oil change.

Before I arrived... I specifically called for a reason that Im now writing about... I called to find out the cost for a small SUV who had their own oil and oil filter. I was quoted $35 with a $5 discount for bringing my own oil and filter. That in my own math should be $30.00 + tax.I get my bill... I was charged $38.50 for a full service oil change. Minus only $3 for bringing my own oil and filter plus Tax. (not what I was told over the phone!). I was charged a total of $44.66.Maybe there are 3/4 service oil changes or 1/2 service oil changes. If they dont check wipers, fluids..ect.I WAS charged $8 for a premium oil filter (That does not have a brand name on the receipt) I BROUGHT MY OWN OIL FILTER Kwik Kar!Was this an overnight?? Well... it was 3:45 pm on a Tuesday. I was the only person there for 15 minutes. According to Google the slowest time of day.Maybe I just woke these guys up from a nap and when I handed them the oil filter, the guy thought it was a gift or something... Not sure.Im going to chalk this up to general practice of this type of establishment to ensure their profitability at the expense of what they assume are ignorant customers.Remember... I called ahead for a specific reason.

Service too much expensive! I have always changed the oil for less than half the price. I feel cheated! They also played more things in my car without my authorization! And to finish they did not reset the required maintenance light. I had to do it myself! I do not recommend it!

We went on a Saturday because the brake light came on. We got there at about 1:00. My brakes were awful and they were needing to replace both of the back ones. I couldnt afford to have them done so I asked if they could do the minimum to let me get home. They tried but said the brakes were gone. They couldnt let me leave the shop like that so they came up with an affordable way to help me. The shop closed at 3:00 but they stayed working until after 4:00 just to be sure my car was safe to drive home. They really went above and beyond - I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you so much guys!

Got Vehicle Inspection done for MV Registration for 2010 Mazda 3 in perfect condition. Was charged over $30 for inspection and told that this was the price now, and couldnt do anything about it (BTW, its $7 by law). They did also give me their standard recommendation of air filter change for additional $89, which I declined and changed myself for $10 later. I got out of there as soon as I could, and hope no one else gets violated by them in the future.

Went for an oil change- $74. He gave me the great synthetic oil which I had not asked for. Also, the guy went through my car saying there was things wrong with it and I needed to tune things up. And somehow my air filter was not there which he said was weird and would be $39 for one. He seemed nice but definitely not trustworthy. Apparently there is new management. I will not be returning. Dont go.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful. I had a 2007 kia spectra. Who would be know for it to be so complicated but these guys never gave up on trying to fix the problem great personalities and great atmosphere. Especially the chubby black one with the fro. I was the happiest person in earth when my car sounded and ran perfectly and continues to do so. Thannk you

Henry was wonderful. I was new to the area and had never needed an emission check. And had just installed a new battery. Henry told me if I drove at least 50 mph for 100 miles it would reset the computer. I did that the next day and passed. I was glad he explained everything, and now will be a customer for oil changes and any problems with my car. Everyone there was nice, honest and informative. Henry even helped me find out where to get the stickers as I didnt know where the Court house was and Randalls will get the sticker for you although cost is a little more. Well worth my time and confusion 5 star recommendation

I took my VW to this location for an oil change and inspection. The technician did not reinstall the skid plate properly after the oil change. The plate was so badly damaged that I had to go to the dealership for repairs. When I called the manager he said there was nothing he would do to compensate me for their incompetence. I will see them in small claims court. NEVER TRUST YOUR CAR TO THESE PEOPLE. !!!

I LOVE this place. They are FAST on oil changes and give me the best prices in town on maintenance. For example, the local dealership (Classic Toyota) wanted $325 to replace my belt tensioner. I got it done here for only $140!! If you go on Wednesday you get 10% off. I have NEVER felt ripped off here...thats half the battle!!!

This place has ripped me off for the last time. I noticed they charge you for work they didnt even do. Its a mentality on the island to be a scamming rip off artist I swear. I know some of those guys from high school. I thought I could trust them, but alas, I will never ever recommend this place again. The first time they will do your oil change, fill your levels, and inspect it well, for the repeat business. If they start asking questions theyre probing for info on whether you know anything about cars. Afterwards they will offer a flush of either you radiator or transmission and make it seem detrimental at the time. Then you will notice they will charge you for fluid they didnt fill and air filters they didnt replace, and you might have a leak in a hose from things purposely not installed proper. Do not go here. My suggestion J and C automotive. The cheapskate in me hates going there because its a little expensive but they have never done me wrong. I should have known better.
