Wonderful staff. Dr. Kalpana Prasad was extremely helpful in realizing my brothers medicines needed changing, and he wasnt taking. She also talked to me, but also to my brother, giving him respect and encouragement. She is very knowledgeable and it was great to have this appointment.
Dr shah is the best doctor there she has saved me so glad I have her as my Psychiatrist
If I could give this practice a 0 I would. Do not and I repeat, do not go to this practice. They absolutely do not care for the mentally ill.
If I could give this horrendous place zero stars I would. I got referred by Medlink to this office about a month ago and have been calling and leaving messages with their referral coordinator ever since, giving 5-7 business days for them to reach out like their voicemail says to. Eventually I got tired of never getting a response so I decided to talk to the office manager Steve. I’m not normally one to complain considering I am a medical assistant and once was a referral coordinator myself but considering my mental illness I really needed to get in touch with someone. The first time I spoke to Steve he was nice and understanding of the situation. He told me that they had not received the referral and had nothing in my chart other than an office note from another NGPG office in 2020. I thought that was strange, but hey things happen. I called my mother, who manages the medlink that referred me and asked her to personally fax and EMAIL the referral to the number and email Steve provided. This was on a Friday. Monday (today) came around and I called Steve to ask if he received the referral. Once again, he had not and basically told me there’s nothing he can do without a referral. I then asked how long would it take to be seen and he said that if he had the referral in hand right now that they could get me in the third week of April. Which is frustrating considering ive been calling all month and haven’t heard anything. I asked him if I could just bring the paper copy of the referral and he said that would be fine. I really didn’t want to have to do this bc I live 35 minutes away but it’s whatever. After we got off the phone I decided to look at their reviews and sure enough they were bad. As I was looking at them I noticed a support line and decided to call and leave a complaint. I ended up driving over there all for them to tell me that the referral wasn’t complete and that they needed the medication list and progress note. Which I understand but I was still frustrated that I drove all the way up there when they could have told me that over the phone. When I was a referral coordinator I always made the patient aware of what the referral needed to include and would give them my personal fax to give to the referring office. The lady at the front desk said she would reach out to the referring office and request the paper work that was missing then call me to schedule an appt when she received it. Not even 3 hours later she calls ready to schedule an appt bc she had received the paperwork. So a few hours go by and Steve calls me... He immediately begins speaking to me with an attitude and says “so I guess you called admin to complain, I just need to get a few things straight” and from then on it was just him being very defensive. I tried to explain to him why I was upset but everytime I would try to say something he would interrupt me and state that “he wasn’t going to argue with me”. WHEN HE CALLED ME. I eventually was able to tell him that I had been calling for weeks and he stops me by saying “I don’t think so” like how are you going to tell me who I’ve called and how many times I’ve called them. I shouldn’t have to explain why I called and made a complaint especially to the person/office I complained about. Also he stated that they DID actually receive my referral all those times it was sent it just wasn’t complete. So all that time I had been calling they could have just told me that instead of throwing my uncompleted referral away. Also, he said he still didn’t have my referral even though his front desk lady called me hours ago to schedule my appt. Long story short this offices patient care blows and I am truly baffled that they would speak to their patients like this. Especially considering this is a psychiatric office. I didn’t even get an apology smh lol. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER CONTACTING THIS OFFICE YOU WILL NOT GET A RESPONSE AND IF YOU DO IT WONT BE A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE! Jose in patient support is very kind and understanding.
I had a doctors referral and had to wait 2 months for an appointment. Fine. The day before my appointment, I get a message on myChart stating that my appointment was cancelled. No reason. No further details. I called before what was supposed to be my scheduled appointment to see why they cancelled and they said they could not see me because I had not filled out paperwork. Can I not do that before my appointment? I didnt even receive a single phone call or email from them requesting this. No communication. They said because of this, they will likely not ever be able to see me. So youre telling me I waited TWO MONTHS for absolutely nothing. And now I will have to wait just as long or longer to get in at another place. All I have to say is that obviously is someone is referred here, they are in need of help. For a PSYCHIATRIST office to treat a patient like this is completely disgusting and wrong. Patients are struggling and this place does not care, and if anything, makes it worse. Obviously I am not the only one who thinks so. Do not go here.
PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE! The staff is great. The physicians could not care less. They do not do any real evaluation and start you on random medications with out clear reasons as to why. You will be passed in between two people there with a multitude of changes in meds that will drive you absolutely crazy.
Its been quite a few years since I was at Laurelwood and I know things have changed, but during my many stays, I was always treated with compassion and concern.
Called with pretty severe concerns, told simply We are not accepting new patients now.Turns out, Im not looking to pay folk who dont give a damn. Thanks for all the help. /sarcasm
Called to schedule an appointment and they said they needed dr referral and that they have appointments 4-6 months out. I’m good.
I have never heard of the doctors office who is refusing patients tell you they have no waiting list or will not give your recommendations for another doctor in the area.. guess they would rather see people suffer than send you to someone else.
Dr. Benjamin Akosa is amazing. You can tell he cares very much about his patients, going way above and beyond for them. When I first saw him, I had been off meds for a while after a previous doctor retired. I had an appointment with another doctor in this practice, but the earliest available was still a few months out, and I was not doing well. My PCP called to see if there was a way to get an earlier appointment, and Dr. Akosa volunteered to see me during what would have been his lunch break.I have been seeing him for about 3 years now, and he is still wonderful. He is so kind and friendly, and always has a smile. I cant say enough nice things about him. I have since moved about an hour away from Gainesville, but still drive up there to see him because he is so great. The front office staff is always very nice and knowledgeable as well.
This place is a nightmare to deal with. We have been trying to get a pre-authorization on a medication for a month and a half. They called my insurance company liars. Never never never again.
Staff is a joke. You have to wait MONTHS to be seen. These people arent concerned about peoples health
