So I moved here to Gainesville a few months ago and finding a barber hasnt been easy. Its not that theres a shortage of them or anything, I just dont know many people here and Im not all that familiar with the landscape. Anyways, from my own research (which is not extensive), the barbers I found here charge more for their services than what Im used to paying ($25-$35 for both hair and facial hair). I dont make a lot of money as is so I honestly couldnt afford a lot of the prices I was seeing. Then, a co-worker of mine told me about Coconuts! As soon as you walk in, you get that sense of homey-ness. It feels very much like a local business and that the employees have a genuine relationship with their clientele. The gentleman who cut my hair (David aka RaRa) is a genuine person and a superb barber! He has the kind of personality thatll perk you up and encourage you when youre having a rough day. Hes also incredibly wise and has so much life-experience that will make for great conversation! He likes to talk but that doesnt impede his ability to get his work done. Hes very through and detail oriented with his process! I went in for a simple haircut and an EXPERIENCE that included a haircut, a beard trim, plus a razor line up, a steam treatment, and lowkey a therapy session 😅 for less than I would have paid at any of the other places I found!! It was literally a Godsend! Cant recommend this place enough!

Went to meet a new stylist name Kenya today at the Coconuts Salon & Barbershop. She was very professional and polite. I went from permed hair to a natural cut I had her to cut all my hair off and I love it. I am starting a new journey in my life and whats uh better way by starting with your hair. I will definitely be going back. Oh yeah and my hair wash was the bomb the water temperature was just right not too hot, not to cold.. the atomsphere was also very inviting from the time I walked in till the time I was on my way.. RaRa is a one of a kind person. I came by because my normal barber was too busy, and he fit me in and I had the best barber experience Ive ever had. Straight razor shaving, beard shaping and haircut.

Mediocre haircut done by Rah. Super looong wait even though my appointment was scheduled for 8:00am. Rah was on the phone the entire time during the cut. End result was not worth the long wait. Very sad as this place was highly recommended and I ended up being hugely disappointed. First time visit. It is the last.

I recently visited Coconuts Salon & Barber on a very busy Saturday as a walk-in. ALL of the staff was VERY professional and accommodating. Everybody knew their craft and provided expert input on everything from my hair cut and color to my eyebrows. The vibe is very welcoming. I would recommend anybody who is new to Gainesville or looking for an upgrade on your current salon to visit Coconuts Salon & Barber Shop.

Im from Atl GA i came to Gainesville on vacation and needed a silk press on my natural hair i browsed the internet and found this place. I called to see if they had any appts available and they set me one for 3pm. I showed up around 245pm, waiting patiently on the stylist that i was booked with, the other stylist there informed me that she was running late so i was content. Until 340pm rolled around and she comes strolling in bragging about her being late due to frying chicken ..smh. Im still looking forward to seeing her work on my head so i proceed to her chair now not only did she rush through washing my hair in less than 5 seconds she placed me under the dryer for 30 mins. While im under the dryer she starts on her 4pm appt with a relaxer, my dryer turned off so im waiting for her to call me bk over being that my appt was at 3pm and she had already been late but nooooo she totally forgot about me and left me sitting for an additional 25 mins. She starts doing my hair and she see that my edges are very thin and burst out with see what we not gone do in 2020 is this pointing at my edges and ask dang how many quick weaves have you had ? At this point im so embarrassed that all i could do is fake a smile and say a few and that ive had alot of braids. Little does she knw the real reason my hair was that way is because of a domestic dispute where my ex pulled all my FRESH BRAIDS out straight from my scalp. People should really just watch how they say things to people. I really appreciated how the other stylist chimed in and actually cared enough to tell me some things that may help my edges grow bk. Thats who those stars are for, i dont remember your name but thank you for that information you were very professional about it and very kind.

My experience at Coconuts has been totally positive...The manager as well as the staff exhibits knowledge and professionalism involving their jobs. The atmosphere is relaxing and the environment is clean. I would recommend this business to everyone, because it is a five star salon and barber shop.

The manager at Coconuts Salon is an amazing person. He couldnt squeeze me in for a hair appointment so he went out of his way to find someone outside of his salon to do my hair. JJ did an amazing job with my twist. I am still amazed on how far David went to help me get my hair done. This shows me he cares about his customers personal hair needs.

I’m newer to Gainesville and needed to find a stylist so I took a chance here & had a great experience. Kristen took her time and my hair turned out better than anyone ever did. Not only did she do great with the color, the styling after was the icing on the cake. If you need color, book her! She took extra steps to make my hair better and I loved the authenticity of the salon and the crew. Kristen, Toya, and Cliff kept me entertained and laughing the whole time I was there. The salon has a nice vibe w/ a lot of laughs and smiles.

I went and got a short fade, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. It was my very first cut experience and I will return back. David was amazing. He even did my eyebrows, and they are on FLEEK.

I have bald spots in my head from getting braids that were too tight. I actually warned this braider that she was braiding too tight during the process but she proceeded to do it anyway. I have had stylist rip through my natural hair because they obviously have never heard of detangling tip to root and applying moisturizer. I had been wondering why I wasnt getting much growth and had to continuously clip my ends, now I see why. I do not recommend this place if you have long natural hair, especially 4c hair. You will be bald headed upon leaving. Run!!!!! The salon is highly unprofessional.

Overcharged me and did not do a well job. The lady was constantly on her phone and did not prioritize the customer. Waste of $100 and definitely will not be coming back again.

I took my son to this barbershop today and it was a horrible experience. I will never go back. The barber Rara ( or something like that) not only messed my sons cut up (the edge was lopsided, he took the sides down lower than my son asked for and the fade looks like he just started cutting yesterday) but he didnt even have a straight razor. Now i have to take him to Js 503 to get Valdo to fix his head. Thanks Coconuts. I wish giving negative stars was an option because this cut is worthy of a negative 5 stars

First time we went here had my hair relaxed and I asked the lady if she would cut and style my hair and it seemed she didnt understand what I wanted done or know how to cut and style my hair. Went their a second time with a different lady and she was better than the first lady.

David was my barber, let me tell you I have been looking for a great cut. Some of the shops around town do good cuts, but the price is insane. This is the best shop in gainesville. Exceptonial service, David took time to get to know me as a person and was polite and professional. I would highly reccomend you give this shop a try, you will not be disappointed.

The lack of respect for peoples time is amazing to me. This is the second place we went for a simple natural hair wash and about 12 braid cornrow. Why are hairstylist scheduling when they working on someone else? It takes a simple phone call to let someone know your a little off schedule, thats called professionalism! We got up early to be on time. But you wanna get paid in full though. No, Im out! We got things to do!

Make sure your stylist has pics of their actual work. Over charged for some middle school looking plaits done by a unprofessional stylist. My plaits were different sizes and she didnt braid them down to the end neither. Unprofessional salon at its best. Service there was horrible as well. Im beyond pissed off than words can even express! NEVER AGAIN WILL I STEP FOOT IN THAT PLACE!

Had an appointment at 10.30, they let me waited for more than 2 hours. They have not interest in the customer satisfaction.I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL

BEST BARBERSHOP IN GAINESVILLE! Ive been to nearly every commercial/local shop in gainesville looking for a good quality haircut and have never found one as good as Coconuts! They are very welcoming and fast! I walked in and was offered a soda or water and then was in and in a chair in under five minutes. The woman helping me was amazing and helped me pick a new style. And all for $15!! This is by far the best haircut in gainesville!! Ill deffinetly be back again and Im bringing my family!

I wanted something done to my hair different from the sew-ins I always get. My husband gets his and my sons hair cut here and happened to meet Ms. Awa, the new african braider in the salon and had me to call her, tell her what I wanted and make an appointment. From start to finish she was a very personable and honest person. She made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process, and she made me feel like my hair mattered and I wasnt just another come-up so to speak. Her pricing is fair and if at any point theres something she feels isnt in the best interest of your hair she will let you know. I LOVE Ms. Awa, and you will too!
