As with any service of this type the staff member you work with is really who you are reviewing. Garrett was great, he knows his job well and communicates clearly to make sure you are getting exactly what you are looking for. The shop itself is clean and a comfortable atmosphere. The online scheduling software is easy to use allowing you to book for certain services with specific Barbers. Will definitely be going back.

I’ve had bad to a few amazing experience with multiple barbershops, from California to Texas and then Maryland I just moved in and this barbershop is my first pick.I relied on the reviewers’ pictures than their words. I am happy to say Garrett did a fantastic job on my hair! Comb over with soft part and layers ( not to make it looks like choppy like several barber I had in past.) I shall return for my next appointment. Thank you Garrett for being a charm and listening to my request.

I’m generally pretty easy-going with haircuts but this experience felt incredibly rushed, sloppy, and unprofessional. The tapering above my ears was uneven. The middle back was untouched leaving it lumpy and awkward looking. When I got home I had to fix the tapering, trim the back, and balance out the mid-sides.I believe the guy who cut my hair was new there so I’m hoping to still give this spot another chance in the future with one of the other barbers.

It’s hard to find a great barber that you can always rely on to give you what you ask and do it flawlessly. I have been going to see Carl at Tried and True for almost a year now and every last time he NEVER disappoints. He cuts my and my 4 year old sons hair. He does it with amazing patience. Now my son loves hopping in the chair and seeing, “Mr. Carl”. It’s easy to say we found our lifelong barber with Carl! 10/10 I would recommend going to see him!

The atmosphere, great barbers, and the location (very close to a parking garage in downtown Frederick) are some of the things that make this place such a good find. The prices may seem a little steep, but I assure you the cut will be worth it. I usually cut my own hair (have been for almost 20 years with few exception every so often), but there are some things that are pretty near difficult to do on your own skull. Thats where experts like Daniel come into play to give you the shapes you want. If its been awhile dont hesitate and treat yourself to a nice haircut, shave, and overall worthwhile experience; you deserve it.

Sorta like the Duluth Trading Company of barber shops. Good guys providing solid mens haircuts for a fair price. They may do ladies haircuts too, but I wouldnt know about that. Also, they have big windows you can look out of when getting your hair cut.

The guys here are always awesome. The atmosphere is fun, the decor is vintage and ever changing to add more stories and history. I go to Daniel for my cuts but I have friends that go to the other guys and we never have complaints. I tell everyone about Tried and True.

Love this shop. It is in a great historic building with a great vintage atmosphere inside. The barbers take great pride in getting the job done right every time. My barber Cody is excellent. I have a big beard and he does an amazing job keeping it in shape not to mention he is skilled in straight razor shaves with hot towels(I’ve never had that done before). . Also you get free beer with every haircut. Not crappy beer but local higher end beer. Definitely highly recommend this shop and all of the barbers that work there.

Ive been getting my haircuts here for 2 years. I trust every member of the staff with my hair. Dan, Cody, Tyler, Carl, xGarettx, and Ray are all professional and express gratitude to each customer that steps through that door. Tyler is my barber and I usually walk out of the barbershop with insane confidence. The events they host are always family friendly and enjoyable. My wife and I brought our 11 month old in to get his first hair cut today. It was an awesome experience. The shop over all has a great atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly. Cody was great with our son. He was patient and fun. And of course, the whole reason we were there, the hair haircut was great. We stumbled across the shop online, and had never heard of it before, but we will definitely be back. Next I hope to get a cut myself. Thanks for a memorable experience.

If you are looking for someone to do undercut work and design work, Cody at Tried and True is awesome. Hes great at taking a picture and making it work. He also is creative and game enough to come up with things that work for you. I love the online booking feature that allows me to see whats available without having to call. The environment is super chill too. Great place to get your haircut!

Went here to have a not so good haircut “fixed”. First cut was decent. Returned a second time and received a very lopsided cut which was worse than what I came in to have fixed initially. Went back a third time to have that fixed and ended up with basically a buzz cut after explaining to the barber in detail what I wanted. Also lopsided, not even sure how you make a buzz cut lopsided but apparently it can be done. Very poor haircuts at a very high price, do not recommend at all.

This place is a true classic old school barbershop. The barbers in this shop are truly skilled at their trade. Fantastic barber shop and by far the best haircut Ive gotten. The shop itself is unique and has a great vibe, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into how its set up. The barbers are all great guys, too - Ive been going to Daniel, but Tyler and Cody have always been friendly and welcoming when I come in (and Ive heard from friends they give great cuts). Had a great haircut from Tyler. He did a great job with a classic fade to skin and trim/comb over on top. His technique at cutting in the hard part was grade A. The aesthetics of the shop are fantastic and I loved the traditional atmosphere. Best place in town for a no nonsense haircut and a relaxing experience.

I moved back East in July after some time in Texas and needed a new barbershop, so I tried this place out after a buddy recommended it. Awesome decision. Carl has my cut down to a science and he’s a real cool dude, everyone else in there is great too. Real genuine, friendly group of guys. They have a pool table, beer, and a bunch of stuff on the walls, it’s a cool environment for sure. I moved to Rockville from Frederick a month and a half ago and have still been making the trip back north just to get my hair cut here. 10/10 place, go treat yourself and get your next haircut here.

Looks like a cute barbershop.I brought my three-year-old in to get a haircut and was told Id have to wait an hour and a half. This was after paying for parking and schlepping my 4 month old in with me. I wish they would say appointments are not needed but highly recommended. I know I need to make appointments ahead of time for a womans haircut, but never did I imagine making an appointment for a little boys! Yikes!

Very expensive! I have never payed so much for a buzz cut/beard shape up. When the barber said it was 50$ I thought it was a joke. Besides that he did a good job and place has a cool atmosphere. But not worth double the price of any other barber shop.

My brother always tells me that the difference between a good haircut and a bad one is two weeks. I started a beard about 7 months ago and have done very little trimming. I came to Frederick from NY for a wedding and I had some time to kill so I decided to try a local beard-smith, not having yet found one at home. Tyler at T&T did a fantastic job, just what I wanted. It looks better than I could have imagined. He trimmed the neck beard away, cleaned up the edges with a hot-towel straight razor shave, and tidied up my thinning hair and only charged for the beard trim. The atmosphere is great, I was offered a beer on arrival, and I walked away looking and feeling great. And I dont have to wait 2 weeks!

It is difficult to find a good mens haircut and even more difficult to find it in a place you actually want to hang out for a little while. I have been a fan and customer of Citizen Frederick for some time now and when I heard about the barber shop opening I was excited to say the least. Shopping in their clothing store on Patrick St. has always been a great experience and the barber shop is no different.I have been there twice now, once for a cut and then back again for a shape up. The haircut was as good as I have gotten in recent memory and at $20 the price is great. What I like even better is the shape up. For $10 I can come in and get my hair tidied up in between cuts.On top of the great cut is the friendliness and the service. Everyone in the shop is very friendly and any time you walk in a barber shop and are offered coffee, donuts or beer and a game of chess you know it is a place you want to come back to.
