No busines any more. I hate the new menu, I have frequented Halls. for 70 years, and enjoyed the great menu selections. The owners have remodeled it so the family, and neighborhood atmosphere is gone. None of the regulars go in anymore. The ambiance is no longer there for me, and my friends groups. Afraid it has shot itself in the foot, not for future.
Staff was super friendly. I was greeted immediately upon entering and seated. Server was very timely and checked back frequently. Would have been 5 stars if my eggs would have been cooked correctly. Everything else was delicious. Great experience
They say they are open till 8. I was at the drive thru speaker at 7:51 I never got a chance to order since an employee coming out to serve food to a person at the drive up yelled across the lot that they were closed at 7:54. Great service from a gracious employee.
Don Halls is an old family favorite restaurant of mine and my family for many years... although just moving back to the area in February, Don Halls quality of meals and service havent changed after all these years, delivering the same 5-Star hometown food and wonderful service Ive always had.I feel back home in this restaurant because of its hometown atmosphere. Its a great place to meet family or friends for a meal or just coffee. With restaurants in the Fort Wayne IN area, you can expect the same quality at any one of their many locations.
This review is for the drive up area. Halls drive in has been a long time favorite of our family. Old reliable. Food is always good and priced fair. Only concern is if your order is to go you should double check everything before you go or before you tip if staying and eating in your car. 2 times in a row I had got my order to go and gave the server a generous tip only to discover later something wasnt right or forgotten.
My wife and I stopped by for lunch for the first time at Don Halls Original Drive-In yesterday, and we were quite impressed with the food and service.Once inside, the restaurant itself is not that big. It was only 11:30 AM and it was pretty crowded, though we were still seated quickly and got a booth by the window. Our server was prompt and attentive and we received our food in less than five minutes. My wife ordered the Reuben and I had the Uncle Sammy burger. The food was outstanding as everything tasted hot and fresh. If I had one complaint, the cole slaw I received with the platter was literally swimming in its bowl of dressing. My wife liked it, but it was too much for me.All in all, great food at very reasonable prices. Will be back for sure.
My omelet was so great and my friend really enjoyed her biscuit and gravy. Our waitress was amazing and very attentive to our needs. Her tip reflected our services
First time we tried the drive up service. We had an excellent server snd the sandwiches and fries were hot and delicious. We will definitely return!
Been a favorite of mine since I was a child. Lots of good memories here.
Strawberry MILKSHAKE ORDERED via drive up window ( one size available 12 oz) $4.50. Worth every penny as were talking the real deal here folks we could taste the strawberries real strawberries and the cream was cream delicious also ordered a $4.50 malt chocolate malt and quite the same quality to me but here again the only malt Ive ever eaten is malted milk balls. Did have to wait for about 20 minutes for the car in front of me to pull away from the drive-thru window I dont know what they ordered or what they got but it took quite a while for their order the car behind me became so annoyed that they left I waited because I knew I was getting the deal the real deal in my strawberry milkshake
Welcome back Don Halls! We missed you.Excellent dinner and excellent dessert. We went for dinner at 7:30 p.m.........we were on a waiting list! Well worth it!
All Halls has a different ambience but all have delicious food! The Tavern has the best salads, The Factory has amazing Prime Rib, Hollywood has delicious tenderloins, The Gas House has amazing Steaks and Shrimp, Triangle Park Salmon is out of this world!
Of all the Don Hall restaurants Ive been to, this is the one that feels most like home. It is simple home cooked meals that are not overly priced, with rather large portion sizes. It was a comfortable atmosphere great for conversation.
The new layout sucks. Didnt take into consideration Walkers, and people with Mobility problems could not walk two by two to help an elderly get through the restaurant. Had three separate meals all three were cold. Reuben sandwich, Big Boy platter for myself with onion rings all which were cold. I dont recall what the third meal was but I know it had fries. Which were cold. Do not live in Waynedale now but I live there for 10-plus years. Its a shame that the big boy has crashed. Thanks for my enjoyable visit. Nice seeing you. Also took an hour to get our bill to pay. Thanks again
If I could give it a -5 score, I would.Firstly, my daughter and I sat there for about 10 minutes before someone even came to get my drink order, then when given the drinks, mine was the wrong drink. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I sucked it up and drank it anyways. Then another 5 to 10 minutes passed before anyone asked if we were ready to order. I ordered. 15 to 20 minutes pass before my daughter is given her jello and mozzarella sticks, and the mozzarella sticks are horribly bland and cold. Another 5 then Im given my salad, salad is fine. About an hour passes (probably more) before they bring my daughters Mac n cheese and French fries and my steak and potatoes. Normally a wait is fine, but I was a bit frustrated here, my daughter is 3. She was hungry and getting hungrier by the second. So our food arrives and she cant even eat her French fries because they are so hard and she says the mac n cheese is gross (she is a die hard mac n cheese lover, so this is huge). I take a bite of my mashed potatoes, cold (and gross). And my steak was inedible due to it being over done and having absolutely no flavor. Now Im not a huge complainer. In fact this is the first time Ive ever felt the absolute need to voice my complaints. I usually just suck it up. Whats huge for me is that after all this, I went to pay with a gift card that I received as a gift, and for some reason they were not accepting gift cards JUST ON THAT DAY, would normally not be huge deal, but I had called ahead of time to that location to make sure they took them, considering I dont have a lot of money right now. They easily could have said we do, but due to etc. etc. we arent today. And lastly, the cashier LITERALLY walked away from me in the middle of my paying and made me stand there another 5 minutes. When she came back it was oh, I didnt know you werent done,All of these incidents on separate occasions are small and unimportant, but all on one overly long visit, is not good.Alas, the whole experience was horrible, from the food, all the way to paying for it.I will never be returning. And I still want my money back.
Always good food and friendly service. Very reasonable prices. Recently renovated and updated. Nice neighborhood restaurant.
Everything is tasty. Mind you, the kid bussing tables at the New Haven one needs some remedial training. Other than that, look for the Cobb salad and the Chicago burger. Its nice but getting dated.
This was my first time there since the remodel and the food was really good! Our waitress Tina was also exceptional, everything was pleasantly fantastic! They also now have really good frostys and still have the personal favorite..cherry Pepsi
Typically its very good. This time, however, I was very dissatisfied. The hostess didnt know anything about the menu when I called to place a carryout order. So I ordered when I arrived and asked for part of my order on the side. It didnt happen, nor did I get any gravy. I called the manager when I got home. She made it right. Just disappointed... 😒
Looks like they changed the onion rings from homemade to frozen .. They were not good at all.. Please bring them back to original ...
Good food, especially the fried mushrooms and onion rings. The service was good but the servers seemed impatient for us to leave even though the room was practically empty. The coffee wasnt good.
Had beef barley soup and pot roast manhattan - both were very delicious
Great food and super amazing staff
I got the Cod fish it was cooked perfectly, and the amount was large. The side salad was fresh and crisp. Good service too.
I remember eating here in my youth. The crowd is good if a little more mature then most. Which is good its quiter then most places.
Always nice and the food was great the waitress Antonia was very friendly and made sure that we was ok.. Will return again....
Just like this place been going to it as I was a little boy and the food still tastes the same..
Love the 90s Buster. A couple slices of bacon makes everything better 😋
Homey atmosphere and great home cooking!
Best fort sandwich i have ever ate so good if you have the chance to go to halls they have the best food EVER!
Love you guys I come in every Saturday for steak and eggs everything was awesome but you guys are slipping on the steak
Try the chicken and waffles very good for brunch.
Good old fashioned food and service.
I gave them a 1 star for effort! Very rude and unprofessional new staff! Although the manager was very nice and attentive! Need to bring back the old staff! The place is nothing what it used to be!
Great place ate at Halls for Fifty years
The food was good and hot. We had a large order and they got everything right except they did not give us the requested sauce on the side.
It was early evening and they were completely out of advertised special, i was dissappointed! New menu ismuch better.
Very unprofessional when I called to ask questions about menu items an when I asked about the specials she well we close in a few minutes an hung up on me!
Never had anything but great food from Halls...love their Buster platters and hubby loves the chicken..great atmosphere..great servers..great food
Nice family style restaurant, recently remodeled including opening curbside service at the back.
Good food, friendly service!
Best Prime Rib in town service good food fresh
Newly remodeled. Good food at great prices.
Missed some of our sides, took forever for our server to even check back with us..And by the time she did we were done and ready for a check that took even longer for her to bring us..
We just ate here and one of the customers went to the register to complain that towards the last of our meal my granddaughter was crying and the cashier was validating him and agreeing with him. Then she got snippy with my daughter and me. Guess halls in waynedale doesnt want any children in their restaurants.
Good food. No changing table in the mens restroom.
Called to place a big order for breakfast w/ coworkers...took 5 calls for someone to answer including one time someone picked up and then hung up...when someone did finally answer he answered just hello and when i asked was this halls he said that they were closed for renovations...my suggestion PLAY A VOICEMAIL GREETING LETTING PPL KNOW THAT YOU ARE CLOSED AND WHY SO THAT PPL DONT SPEND 20 MIN TRYING TO GET SOMEONE TO ANSWER AND THEN YOU ARE RUDE TO THEM.
Halls has homemade, thick cut onion rings.
Was there for a non profit Christmas party and the food and service was very good.
Great food great service
Remodeled and with a new menu to appear trendy, Halls really screwed the pooch with this update. We went three weekends ago for dinner and were highly disappointed. I waited to review because I felt this really deserved for me to know absolutely what I wanted to say. The server was an older lady, not in the least bit friendly, and didnt seem to know the new menu; the water tasted like cola (dirty cups?); the smoked salmon on the smoked salmon sandwich was not smoked, like it didnt even have liquid smoke on it--in fact it was completely unseasoned and the quarter teaspoon of aioli they did put on the bread lacked the punch to flavor or relieve the dryness of the sandwich; the fries were served room temperature and soggy; the queso was congealed processed nacho cheese product straight from the can with a scoop of chorizo and scallions on top. The spoonful of chorizo was the only thing we were served that was edible, but of course it was sinking into that orange disgrace.Like I said, Halls really screwed the pooch with this update. It has lost all its old charm. We are foodies and were semi regulars so we knew what to expect--older diner wth reliable service, acceptable diner food that was well prepared featuring a couple knock outs like the parmesan chicken, and a little local character. Now its shiny and boring and the paired down menu has replaced some of the best dishes they had with food thats put on a veneer of trendiness without taking the full leap to actually tasting *good* or hell, even edible. Sorry guys, you missed it big.
I went to vote. Its a wide carpeted space, comfortable.
Food wss extremely seasoned and too salty to eat!
Remodeled good food and prices not bad.
Had their poutine the best ever
Very good food, large selection and wonderful service.
Very limited choice for healthy eaters. Only one vegetable..green beans with bacon. Most fish fried. Not very fresh salad.
Food and service is good. Pleasant atmosphere.
Yummy fried chicken meal :)
Food overcooked, found hair in garlic bread, had to flag down waitress to get second coffee, bad experience.
Good cup of coffee and quite possibly one of the best hamburgers I have ever encountered.
Best pork tenderloin in town!
Yum. Drive thru worked fast.
Great food...always go back...good waitresses...
Good food and prompt service.
Breakfast tacos are delicious
Always good! Priced right.
Good food, nice atmosphere,
Good food great service only inconveniences front restrooms being remolded, but sure it will be nice when done
Amazing food and atmosphere
It was slow service nobody noticed us when we were needing things
It was ok, nothing I would brag about. Stake was bland, dont normally ask for stake sauce, but here..... give me a bucket of it.
3.00 for fries n ounce of cole slaw
Every one should eat there once in their life or your missing out
Best burger and tenderloin in Fort Wayne!
Good homestyle food
Always a great local spot!
Excellent fast service.
Excellent food.
Single people they want you to sit at the counter . Or wait 20 minutes for a booth . hate the new remodeling . plus the prices are high . Azar just got my business.
Excellent as always.
Great Cobb salad
Service was very slow. Nobody noticed us when we wanted something. Rather expensive and not as good as past visits.
Always great!!

Awesome reception hall
I think Halls was really expensive
Okay but lackluster.
