$1/hr street parking, part of the historic district, walk around and it is beautiful.Walk further, cross the old Route 66, even more (window) shopping and small eateries and coffee places. This whole area is full of history and art.Noticed many new apartment/condo constructions going on, during Covid, imagine it is going to be crowded in a year, when the ASU students are back.

Rented a set of hiking poles from here while friends rented backpack, sleeping bag, and sleep pad for Grand Canyon Rim to Rim! They provided great gear at an affordable price while also making sure we were comfortable/knowledgeable with the gear. They also sold other things at or cheaper than REI and other major outdoor stores. Highly recommend checking them out!

The name is deceptive. This is a locally owned store for outdoor clothing and activities. Rather like REI but perhaps a bit more interesting. A good camping store! They also rent camping gear. Weve used them many times and the equipment is always in good order. In any case, always an interesting place to browse.

The inventory in this place is beautifully displayed and the staff know their inventory. It is not always the most affordable, but their sales are fantastic. I would recommend stopping by periodically just to check them out. For example I just purchased an awesome Kayak paddle for 1/3 of the price that I have seen it for in LA LA Land. Great stickers! Great Ski Gear

Went in for a hiking pole. I was greeted cheerfully upon entering. The wonderful employee showed me where the poles are and even helped me decide which one was right for my hiking needs. I even found a few other useful items. Amazing customer service, good prices, will go here before REI or Sportsmans for all my outdoor needs. Great local find, thanks hubby for the recommendation.

Friendly, professional, and very helpful staff. Thoughtfully curated and unique selection of outdoor clothing and gear. I so appreciated that they had fire-safe boots when nearly all online stored were sold out. This is a locally owned, well-stocked outdoor store and I enjoyed shopping here and supporting their business. I agree with the other reviewer about the name being a bit misleading - I was expecting a very hippie version of a military surplus store, but this has more of an REI feel plus some unique finds (e.g. t shirts, stickers, etc) that you won’t see at REI. Definitely worth a visit. :)Re the one-star review by the guy trying to return boots one day after buying them and getting rejected, he must have tried to bring them back after wearing them outside. Peace Surplus has a generous return policy for a locally owned store: I was told that I could return my boots for a cash refund within 7 days and that they just needed to still be in new condition so they could be resold. I did this without any issue and I so appreciate the policy and transparency.I will be more than happy to return when I need hiking shoes or outdoor supplies!

It’s a really good local gear shop with a lot of cool stuff and pretty much everything you need for the winter too. However, they are definitely not consistently enforcing masks in the store. I’ve seen them ask customers to put them on and staff is always wearing them too.But the other day a couple folks walked in a went to the rental section with none on, walked through the store with none on, and then had a full conversation with a staff member while still not wearing a mask. And then that same staff member asked customers walking in to wear a mask. It’s weird that there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to their in store mask rule.

She was extremely knowledgeable on all products, patient with making sure I was happy with my decision on a pair of hiking shoes, and even called several stores for a specific item I was looking for. The reps there gave us the best recommendations on places to eat in town as well as the breweries. If theres any place in town to shop if youre new to the area, this is it! We rented camping equiptment from them and the tents were rough. There were holes in some of the tents and some of the sleeping bags were not good for sub 20 degrees like we requested. Then when we took them back they fought us saying we caused the damages while claiming that they “triple checked the entire order.” Evidence that they didn’t triple check is that our stakes were bent, didnt match, and there were too few in some. Truly I would recommend going anywhere else before going here. They do not care about the customer and are not willing at all to help out.

Would give them less than 1 star if I could. We rented Sleeping bags and tents from them for our trip to grand canyon. They gave us the wrong equipment. It was not adequate for the weather at all. The tents we got already had holes in them. When we went to return the equipment they were extremely rude to us and were accusing of their destroying the equipment. The pegs we got to hold the tents down were all crooked and bent. It was by far the worst customer service experience I have ever had from any facility. These people think they can get away with absurd charges just because the people renting the equipment are college students or they are from out of town. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY GROUP RENTING ANY EQUIPMENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. They wasted so much of our time.

An amazing outdoor sports store! They have a very good variety of gear, starting with high quality budget brands like Kelty and Eureka and ending with pricier stuff, as well as dabbling in some ultralight equipment. Some harder to find items like tent zipper care kits and wag bags are also in stock. There are tons of obscure replacement clips, buckles, ties, backpack frame pins. The prices are good. A few things I bought on Amazon before were priced the same or within $5.Selection of hiking footwear is tremendous, all very fairly priced (once again in online price range). The staff is very knowledgeable. My hiking shoes were falling apart, so I stopped by for a replacement. They were lightly staffed on Monday morning, yet the young woman working there spent good 20 minutes helping me pick and fit the right shoes, and gave me tips on how to tie shoe laces not like an amateur.
