I’m giving 5 stars because that’s all Google has. This place deserves 10 stars. I live an hour away but I come here for the good, reliable service. If I listed everything they did that was over and above this would be a novel. These guys are the best, hands down. I wish all businesses operated like this.

I was camping near Flagstaff and the air conditioner on my Nissan Pathfinder stopped working! I am from eastern New Mexico and I didnt want to drive home with my two grandchildren in 100 degree weather with no air conditioning. University Auto Repair was highly recommended by the staff at the campground where we were staying. The staff at University Auto Repair were the most efficient and helpful auto repair people I have ever dealt with. They were very reasonably priced, didnt take advantage of my situation and they they did an excellent job of repairing my vehicle. I highly recommend Universitu Auto Repair to anyone who wants honest, efficient and reasonably priced auto repairs!

The water pump went out on my RAM 2500 about an hour outside of Flagstaff. University Auto was amazing. They did an amazing job and had it replaced the next day. Excellent service!!! We were in Flagstaff for the weekend and unfortunately had car trouble right when we were trying to leave town on a Sunday night. Based on reviews alone, we chose University Auto Repair to leave our car and keys in the box and hope they we would be okay with us leaving it there and heading back to Phoenix. They called the next morning and were more than happy to help! They were able to provide same day diagnosis, order the parts needed and complete the repairs in only one week! We could only pick up on the weekend so they even took the time on their day off to meet us on Saturday to hand over the keys. The communication, turn around time, and willingness to accommodate was very much appreciated. Thank you Chris!! Would 100% use University Auto Repair services again !!

I haven’t lived in Flagstaff very long, but finding a solid mechanic was very important to me. After my car had engine troubles this week, University Auto Repair was my first call, and I am very glad they were. They fit me in and diagnosed my car quickly, the costs were reasonable, and the people there were friendly! Would definitely recommend!

1991 F150 4x4 was not charging the battery and for the first few miles the front end made clanking sounds. The diagnosed the charging as the alternator and since repair the battery is fine. The clanking sound turned out to be grease and dirt accumulation on the front drive axles U joints and housing. After they dismantled and cleaned the truck has stopped making clanking sounds. This repair was done a couple months back and everything is great.

We were driving through Flagstaff and had the check engine light appear and the car lost power. We dropped into University Auto to discover the issue and hopefully get a speedy repair. It was near the end of the day, so we left the car overnight and stopped back around 11am the next day. They spent quite a bit of time hunting down possible issues, but the bottom line is that it was an intermittent problem that wasnt reproducible (the light even went out). They gave us the green light to continue our travels and we havent seen the problem again. I really want to thank the team at University Auto for giving us peace of mind on the remainder of the trip. This is a great team who squeezed us into their busy schedule. Ive very grateful.

Their computer didnt show our recall on the car they worked on Matt was very apologetic and refunded 700.00. The balance was other work they performed. I had a problem with my A/C compressor and other mechanics in town were too busy and scheduled far out within the month. These guys helped me right away, I had issues finding the right piece for the car and price, after many bumps trying to get my car fixed due to manufacturer parts, these guys came through. I was even using their borrowed car no extra fee in the midst of my problem. They were diligent, hard working and upfront which I truly appreciate and respect. Thank you for the amazing job, my car is working like new.

They were really nice and quick. I had to be in Phoenix just a couple days after my car was taken in because it wouldn’t start and they worked with me so I was able to make it. Super professional and they explained what was going on in my car very well.

UPDATE: Upon a thankful negotiation toward final price with head mechanic Damon, the results in service were well worth the setback. My vehicle now runs better than I’ve ever had it.Punctuality was the only issue and the initial price seemed steep for someone like myself who lives far under the poverty line.Fingers crossed that this service carries my vehicle another 10 years in life.I will regard University Auto for future work and will ask for Damon.****They had my vehicle in shop for over TWO WEEKS in total, after telling me at day 5 that the vehicle will absolutely be finished on that day. Each day I checked up after that, a new problem arose which extended the wait.At day 9, they said it would absolutely be ready to take home by the end of the day. I gave them 4 more days to complete it.At the end of day 13, I was told Chris, who ran my ticket, went home early. My vehicle was supposed to be dropped off to me by the end of that day.I have been unable to work for 14 days as my vehicle is my main form of income.Granted a hefty bill after the agonizing process.Too much faith in others and a half drained savings account later...Still waiting on my vehicle to be dropped off after a ‘final test run’ and I’ve got work at noon, scheduled it thinking that I’d still have more than enough time to get my car back to be able to work.

I was traveling to Idaho when my cars battery would not hold a charge. These guys fit me into their busy schedule and got me back on the road. Awesome service!

They charged one of my daughters over $500 to fix a problem with her vehicle..& yet never fixed the problem. They wanted $180 from my other daughter for a regular oil change & air filter. And after she picked up her car, it stalled out while driving it. Now both my daughters cars are undrivable & waiting for their appts elsewhere.

I went here because they were good to me over the phone, letting me know what they can and cant do. They treated me right in the lobby and took care of me for a fair price

Highly recommend this shop!! My daughters Ford Mustang was leaking and she was referred over by her friend who had a good experience with the shop. As a mom in California I was very worried about my daughter being taken advantage of as a young college student. I was pleased with the service and care my daughter received. My daughter said everyone at the shop was nice and polite and that a gentleman by the name of Josh was so nice and spoke to her in a way she could understand what was going on with her car. I also called the shop and felt my concerns were addressed. My daughters car was fixed in a timely manner. You will not be disappointed taking your car to University Auto Repair.

I’m from out of town. My truck engine was making some noise. Called university to get an opinion on if i could get it back to Phoenix. Brought it to the shop. They took a quick look, informed me of the problem and it wasn’t a good idea to drive it. They gave me a quick fair quote! Didn’t take advantage of the fact I was traveling. Ordered the part and truck was done by lunch the next day! Awesome shop! Said what the would do....and did it!

I recently visited University Auto Repair for my first time. This was the first mechanic I have visited in Flagstaff and I was anxious about unscrupulous mechanic overcharging for simple repairs. However, my experience with University Auto repair was refreshing. The mechanic working on my truck kept in close contact with me and called to get my approval before starting repairs. I saw nothing but integrity on his end. Additionally, the repairs were cheaper than I expected and my truck has been running very nicely since I took it in.I highly recommend University Auto Repair for all of your vehicle needs. University Auto Repair does a wonderful job with my Honda Civic! After feeling like I have been taken advantage of back home in Denver with auto repair shops in the city, I feel like I have finally found a reputable auto repair place I can trust. I have very little knowledge when it comes to cars, and University Auto always makes sure to explain the repairs that need to be made, as well as the parts that are looking good on my car. I really appreciate this place--I would highly recommend!

I was driving my 2008 Acura TL from Chicago to LA when we started noticing the trans jumping between gears and my car not starting properly. We took it in to university auto on our stop in flagstaff and it couldn’t have been a better experience. I got my car back in 24hrs they were very honest and did not try and oversell me a bunch of work I didn’t need and they even shuttled us to and from our Bed and breakfast. It runs great and we made the rest of the trip just fine.

Intermittent problem are the hardest to find, which I had. We are from out of State and and the shop found the problem and said There will be no charge for tightening the loose wire. That spells Honesty. The quality control person and mechanic a few minutest later found that it was more then just the loose wire/ really needed a new integrated starter. Very thankful they did the double check and can now drive back to Badger country with a peace of mind!

We always go to University for our oil changes because they mail out deals each month. We also got our windshield wiper blades replaced. With two coupons (one expired that they honored anyway because they’re nice) we got $100 worth of work done for $54! It took a long time but they apologized and explained it was because they were short staffed. Overall I trust these guys pretty well.

Was at this location on 3/23/21. Asked to have transmission filter changed and fluid replaced. Below see what the cost should be. i was charged over $315.00 for the same service. Was told that i got a deal because they only used 4 quarts of oil. was charge 1.7 hours of labor as i sat in the lobby and watched the mechanic work on my car for 45 min. when i complained to the owner i was told if the work went of 1.7 hours would i pay for that then? I have been working on cars for longer than than the owner has been alive and know when i am getting the shaft. Only go here if you know nothing about cars, and have a lot of money to waste on services that you do not need. I have told my daughter to take her car to anyone else in Flagstaff.

My Ford Super Duty truck went into limp mode. I had no way of knowing what the problem was but University Auto ran their diagnostic and found a minor problem and fixed it. I was impressed with their professionalism and honesty. I will be a repeat customer!

Absolutely shameful...my daughter, who is a college student at NAU, brought her car in to replace a bulb on a headlight and tighten/repair a loose side mirror and they quoted her over $6000. Tried to convince her she needed to replace both driver and passenger headlamp assemblies and side mirror assemblies. Do not use!*updating my review. The store reached out to my daughter after reading my review and asked her to have me call the shop. I had a conversation with the tech who worked with my daughter on her car. He stood by his estimate and assured me that his quote was reasonable and fair and not inflated because it was given to a young, female college student.I thanked him for his explanation and told him that we were going to take her car to a shop down here in Phoenix for a second opinion. The shop in Phoenix was able to complete the work and also replaced her brake pads for $1,200.*my review of 1 🌟 remains.

My son goes to NAU college he was on his way home to California and he broke down an hour out of Flagstaff had it towed back to the shop very professional,on the job right away no complaints they stay in touch with you very satisfied,recommend them to Everybody. First and foremost, I have to say University Auto Repair has the most honorable and most exemplary Customer Service I have ever experienced at ANY establishment I have stepped in.I was on vacation with my mother, grandmother, and sister.While sightseeing in Flagstaff, AZ, I noticed a howling noise coming from the engine. Not knowing anything about the area, I took my chances and Googled “auto repair.” You can imagine the long list of businesses shown. As I scrolled through several of the websites, I admired the services indicated. When I called, I was greeted with liveliness and respect when I asked about checking and filling fluids. I decided to give them a try.On our first visit to University Auto Repair in Flagstaff, AZ, we were acknowledged with friendliness and consideration. Noticing the multitude of vehicles waiting to be worked on, my first thought was, “we will be here all afternoon.” I was wrong.A service representative helped us right away by checking our fluids. After I explained the noise I heard from under the hood, he went directly to the power steering fluid. It was very low. He filled it up, and as a precaution, he checked all the other fluids. He was quickly satisfied, and we were on our way.The next day we were getting in our vehicle toward our next adventure, we discovered our battery was dead. We were lucky enough the resort had someone available to give our battery a boost. After driving for 30 minutes, I noticed the battery was not charging. Thinking I needed a new battery, I visited one of the many auto parts, accessories, and advice nationwide companies. They tested my battery, I was told it was fine, and the gages were broken, but they did not know why.This was late in the day, so back to University Auto Repair, we went. This time they needed to keep it overnight as we arrived minutes before closing. The next day, they work diligently, testing ALL the possible problems. Once they were satisfied with the answers to all their questions, they proceeded to fix the problem; after calling me to get my approval.Being female, many services will try and take advantage and charge more than required. University Auto Repair in Flagstaff, AZ, did NOT. The price was very reasonable. Im so grateful to University Auto for being able to take a look at my car while I was driving cross country and only in town for two days. They found a problem that could have been devastating on the road. They were super thorough explaining everything to me and even took another look free of charge when a noise I was concerned about came back the next day (a non-safety related brake issue). The next 2000 miles of driving were no problem. I would absolutely come back to them on my next x-country drive.

Came in just before closing with a broken serpentine belt and jammed pulleys. On the last leg of a 3,000 mile trip from California to Texas and back, our truck decided to act up on our early-morning departure from Flagstaff. With a brief loss of power, black smoke, and the ominous service engine soon light staring me in the eye, we immediately took the nearest exit and looked for the closest shop. We located and pulled into a very busy and congested University Auto Service. Walking in thoroughly beat and defeated, I saw all the service orders and keys awaiting attention and thought I was simply out of luck. Thankfully they said they could look at it later that day and start working on it the following day. My wife, our dog, and I took a taxi to our previous hotel where we awaited word of our situation grateful to still be in such a beautiful city and not stranded in the middle of the desert somewhere. UAR called later that day with a very thorough diagnosis of the suspected issue and a recommendation which I immediately agreed to. The following day, as stated, the work was completed and final testing was performed to confirm resolution of the problem. The UAR shuttle picked us up, returned us to our vehicle, and within a short time we were again on the freeway heading home. I could not have hoped for better service under such stressful conditions than what University Auto Repair provided. The staff was courteous, understanding of our situation, professional, and kept their word while being honest about the diagnosis and repairs. Also, being a diesel, I thankfully pulled into a shop that was very knowledgeable about my particular vehicle and after repairs were made, I was confident driving the final 400 miles home. These folks were the best. Again, being stranded in such a beautiful city as Flagstaff was not the worse thing in the world but as a visitor and unfamiliar with the area, this shop treated us like regulars. The only downside is theyre not closer to my home so that I could use them for all my vehicle service and repair needs. Again, thank you so much.

University Auto Repair 4.8 rating. I have to laugh at that because it should be a 5.0. These guys are amazing not just because the owner is a Eagles fan. I dont normally give out 5 stars. Josh was great, got back to me quickly with the quote and disclosed all fees. I am a Airforce vet that full time rvs with my wife and 4 kids and when I need a honest mechanic shop the most they were there. They treat you like family and get repairs done when they say they are going to. I will be coming to back here for all my automotive needs. My F350 is gonna need an oil change, see you guys soon!!!! PS who ever business is next to yours they need to move, you guys deserve a bigger parking lot for more customers.

They charged me $120 for a diagnosis. Told me the engine needed to be replaced and that it would cost $9000. I decided to tow it down to phoenix where I live. I took it to a different guy there and handed him the paper work these guys gave me. He fixed me up for $300.Edit: After I left a 1 star review here, Matt from University Auto reached out to me via a phone call. He recognized that University may have made a mistake, and worked with me to get it resolved. In the end, University ended up covering the $600 tow from their shop down to Phoenix.Obviously my experience was not the best, but at least you can know that if they mess up, they are willing to make it right.

It was my first time going to university auto for my oil change and I ended up coming back for another minor repair on my car. Staff there are very nice and professional. I LOVE their shuttle service where they take you to places and pick you up in town while your car is getting serviced. I always struggled getting my car appointment trying to get it work it with my work schedule so it was definitely convenient. Price was very reasonably charged and staff explained the repair very thoroughly but easy to understand at the same time. I will absolutely come back to university auto for anything related to my car from now on. Highly recommend!!

University Auto is a great local gem. Easy to schedule, amazing customer service and you don’t have to worry about them upselling on anything.

I just needed some diagnostic and tune up done. They were quick efficient and professional. Only pas like $200 in total for like 6 different services including a 25 point inspection. All around awesome even took the time to check up on how it was running a few weeks later. My go to from here on.

10/10. I needed a repair asap, so I went with the place that had the most reviews and the most stars. I got a quote that was pretty good and I got my problem resolved within 2 days. They even provided a shuttle to drop me off when I dropped my car off and took me to the shop when it was ready to go. They also did a follow-up with me the week after. 10/10.

My experience with University Auto Repair was wonderful and one of the best experiences Ive had at any auto shop Ive been to. The issue with my air conditioning that they fixed for me has been an ongoing issue that 2 other mechanics have looked at before I came here. Not only were the mechanics and technicians at University Auto Repair the first to properly diagnose and fix the issue in a year, they did so in a way that made me felt heard and appreciated where I have felt brushed off at other auto shops in the past. We had an emergency on our window-the mechanism broke so it wouldn’t roll up. We were in town for the weekend and couldn’t roll up our window in the cold weather. They got us in last minute and completely fixed it so we didn’t have a broken window in the cold weather all weekend. They were friendly, professional and fast. They also shuttled us to breakfast and shopping while they worked on the car. Highly recommend this place!

I broke down on my way North traveling through Flagstaff. I had a transmission valve break off and I was spewing smoke behind me coming up the hill around munns park. I looked up the reviews and found University Auto repair to appear to be decent. I am very particular about my mechanics and generally do a lot of work on my own cars because of this. They were able to diagnose and repair the problem swiftly and I was able to continue on with my travels. They communicated very well. Their repairs made sense and didnt go beyond the scope of what was appropriate. Cost was fair. I would definitely recommend University Auto repair and would go back myself when in Flagstaff!

I visited University Auto for a pre purchase inspection. They got me in quickly, did a comprehensive job, and gave me written results. Really professional folks.

Brought my car in yesterday to have several things done: oil change, brake fluid, fuel filter & power steering fluid. They finished in a single day, and I verified that the job was well done afterward. They’re a little expensive, but that’s the cost of living in Flag, I’m afraid. They also weren’t able to help me with a more complicated steering column issue on my older vehicle, but for preventative maintenance, this place is top notch.

I had trouble with my truck while on a hunting trip to Flagstaff and the check engine light came on. I took my truck to the Ford dealership and was told they couldn’t get me an appointment for 3 days. I called University Auto Repair and was told they were slammed but would try and fit my truck into their scheduled. The great staff was able to diagnose the problem with truck, get the hard to find parts and get me back on the road within 3 hours of me arriving! I was treated very fairly and would strongly recommend Universal Auto Repair for your auto repair and maintenance needs!!

I drove up to Flagstaff and found my car in need of repairs. Without appointment, I went to University Auto Repair (where I had had work performed last year) and despite their busy schedule, they found time to fit me so that I could return to the valley on schedule. Their diagnosis was concise and accurate and when I went to pickup my car their bill was surprisingly affordable!Thank you all at University Auto Repair for treating me so well!

My Ford F350 suffered what I thought was a catastrophic engine failure while traveling from out of the area. None of the local shops could work on my vehicle. One of these shops recommended University Auto Repair. I called University Auto and they agreed to work on my truck. I was a little nervous sending my vehicle to an unknown shop with such a serious problem. I felt a little better when a third party AAA tow-truck driver gave them a thumbs up too. University Auto Repair diagnosed the problem and much to my surprise, it was a simple fix. I found the staff to be polite, professional and the shop was impeccably clean. I feel the way they treated me, a traveler from out of the area that will likely never see them again, speaks volumes about their good character. I highly recommend University Auto Repair

Can’t thank the team here enough. We are new to Flagstaff, our Land Rover had a catastrophic loss of fluid (i.e all of it at once) while on the highway late at night. We had car towed here knowing there was no Land Rover dealers within more than 100 miles. They reassured me they have worked on Land Rovers before, just needed to get part from Scottsdale. Told me how long to expect, what they would do and how much would cost. Car done on time, exact cost as quoted and work warranted. Highly recommend thank you!

Great people and great service! Seriously most mechanics seem angry and full of hate but these people were amazing!

They made an appointment, but when I got there, they wouldnt work on my van because its an RV. The guy was really rude and crabby, but hes always that way. Theyve worked on my van before, and he was a grouch then, too. But, even though they worked on it before, they wouldnt today, and he said its their new policy.

Was referred here by a friend, stopped in to see about my check engine light that came on. Never even had to get out of my car as a worker met us at our car ( wearing a mask ) performed an electronic check, determined I needed a new thermostat. I had an appointment the next day. Service was completed that next day as well. Had my car back, always professional and courteous! Found my new car repair business.

While on a 6,000+ mile road trip my front brakes developed a hellacious squeal, so I called University Auto Repair while passing through Flagstaff. They squeezed me into their busy schedule and got me back on the road with fresh brakes in the matter of a few hours. They were both friendly and professional and communicated clearly throughout the process. Highly recommend!

My check engine light came on and everyone knows how intimidating that is, considering possible issues and repair costs. They had as many people as they could take that day by about 11:30am when I arrived and it was a Monday! But they had a diagnosis for me in a couple of hours and the repair done same-day because it was simple. Fair prices, extremely professional staff, and they do the work, 10/10 would recommend and will be returning!

Reported multiple symptoms and another shop’s diagnosis (faulty transmission...very expensive) and after inspection and diagnosis, found the problem to be something altogether different, saving me thousands of dollars in potential repair costs. Very honest, competent, fast and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

They were very helpful. Our vehicle broke down while we were out of town. They were able to diagnose and repair on the same day so we could travel home.

Brought my out of state RV In for an intermittent starting issue. Always leery that that is an open door for trumped up charges. They explained their procedure and hourly rate to me pre-service which gave me peace of mind. They called with the estimate when they said they would. Charged only for replacement of starter and not the diagnostics work done the day prior. Very fair price. I also like they have a nationwide warranty network.Great place!! Would definitely use these guys as my regular mechanics if I lived in town.

I blew a radiator outside of town. These guys fixed it. It is an imported vehicle right hand drive diesel van. I had the part shipped in because it’s not a standard radiator found In USA. They were able to install it. It’s held up well on my road trip across country (Seattle to Florida). They had it done quickly and more importantly it was done right. I had a good experience with them. Price seemed fair to me and they were attentive in doing the not so normal repair. Also was referred there by AAA.

We have taken our car to University Auto several times over the last few years and they are always amazing! They are fast, knowledgable, and not overpriced! They also don’t try to oversell to you and will try to get you the best possible outcome!

I know nothing about cars and I drive a classic truck that needs proper, high quality maintenance. So, I make sure I trust the mechanic I go to, that they can diagnose the issue and correctly fix it. My experience here was nothing less than perfect, and I will be coming here from now on, knowing my car will be in good hands and I will get a full explanation on the process as well as a follow up!

The people at University Auto are the best in the business. They are honest and provide great service at a reasonable price. I will never go anywhere else.

Good mechanic. Got to our Toyota Sequoia in a timely manner. We were charged 3 hours of labor ($330) for a job that took 1hr 15min. He was able to take $50 off the cost but that’s the best he could do. Would advise checking to compare other shops labor time if you can. The owner Damon was not at fault as he simply uses a computer system that tells him how many hours a job will take. However that system over estimates. Also mechanics in flagstaff charge a premium rate of $90-$140/hr so do it yourself unless you’re like me and on the road without your tools.

Traveling from Phoenix to Iowa my car broke down. University got me in and on the road. Courtesy shuttle to the shops while they were working on it! Cant thank Josh and Austin enough. We are greatful!
