London Auto has a fantastic reputation and many great ratings, so I wanted to bring my problematic XK8 to their shop, primarily for some shifter repairs and multiple engine trouble codes.First, the good news, at the end of it all, they did a good job of addressing my primary problem, made a very good repair and diagnosis to the shifter, and diagnosed and fixed most of the trouble codes with a new battery, so I was happy about that.Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by my overall experience. The shop had the car for over 5 weeks. Not once during the entire time did I receive any communication from the shop, unless I initiated it via email or a phone call. Each week, I had to call the shop to ask for some updates; progress was extremely slow. This, after I provided a well-written printed-out document with my contact info and a detailed explanation of my issues with the car and a list of tasks Id like to have tackled. My list was promptly ignored and my cell phone number was incorrectly written down in their files. Of course, they had my correct work number, which they did not employ after many times of them telling me weve been trying to get a hold of you, after they call that exact work number after I send them emails about how come they dont ever contact me, and the number works just fine. Although they eventually tackled the primary issues with the car, it was after me calling them each week trying to get some type of progress report and trying to get them to actually work on the car. Later in the process, they were highly distracted by trying to fix a more minor issue, while ignoring one of the primary shifter issues, which was the main reason the car was in the shop. The other, more minor tasks I had written on the form were ignored and never even brought up by the shop. I didnt bring them up later, because I knew it would take another 5 weeks at the rate they were going. When I picked the car up, I found that the third brake light cover was unattached from the base, the drivers side door panel was loose and had a few broken clips, and the emergency triangle kit that is trunk-lid mounted had come off of the trunk lid, because they slammed the trunk lid too hard. In addition, a broken piece of this kit (it was already broken) found its way into the wheel stowage well, which could only mean they had this well open and saw this come off, but made no attempt to collect the broken piece, nor try to re-install the kit on the trunk lid. The rest of the kit was on the trunk floor, on top of the closed stowage panel. In addition, I had removed the console for easy access to the shifter for the shop to work on. Although I did not specifically mention to put the console back together, since I just assumed they would re-install it, it was just left off. You would think they would put this back together or ask, would you like your console put back on? before I took delivery. Most disappointingly, the day after I originally wrote this, I noticed a few very large stone chips in the front of the car that were not there when I dropped it off over a month earlier. It looks like they must have test driven the car on a gravel road. I changed my rating to 1-star because of this. This is significant damage to the paint.I understand things can happen, break, go loose, but there is no excuse for the condition I found my car upon pick-up, regardless. You would think they would at least mention the broken door panel, brake light housing, console, and triangle kit, but they just ignored all of these items and delivered the car to me with these things in various states of disrepair, which shows to me a lack of attention to detail and a complete indifference about general care of my care while it was in their possession, minus the repairs that were made. Where did they drive this car that they picked up these large stone chips and caused significant damage to the paint? I am completely disappointed by my experience; I would not recommend this shop if this is how they treat their customers cars.
It was such a pleasure working with the crew at London Auto Service. Nick kept me posted and came up with solutions that were practical and fairly priced. My Lancia was leaking gas from the tank and Nick tracked down a replacement at a very reasonable price. I really felt he was looking out for me rather than trying to turn a profit. If you are a fan of classic Italian and British cars, the shop is worth a visit just for fun. The lot is full of wonderful period pieces in various states of repair.Claudio worked on my car. Like me, he has relatives from Italy – specifically Calabria. His passion for the cars is obvious. Much like an Italian chef, he puts his heart and emotion into his work, and he really cares. It’s very hard to find a shop that is knowledgeable, a joy to work with and very reasonably priced. These guys deliver all three in spades. I can’t recommend them highly enough!
This is a great quality auto services business. I have a 1979 MGB which they take care of well. They easy to deal with and do quality work
Would give 6 stars but they won’t sell that VW bus they just keep covered up out front and I want it.
As usual, well done. Whats particularly great about London Auto Services is the staff. Very personable, great communication about the vehicle and the work done, and just fun to be around.
I highly recommend London Auto. I brought a 1985 VW Vanagon, to see if they could rehab the A/C and convert it from R-12 (Freon) to 134b refrigerant. Vanagons have a poorly designed and notoriously difficult A/C system than most shops wont even touch. Pete was willing to work with me and they did the conversion and had it blowing cold air! So made my summer.. and they saved me from a much more expensive replacement system. Thanks again.
Great Experience. Helped me understand what was needed and not needed. Superior workmanship. Attention to detail was perfect. I dont trust my nearly 50 year old car to many, but Ill will definitely be a repeat customer.
These guys are the BEST! Highly experienced, great communicators, I wont take my Jag anywhere else. Thanks! Doug
I’ve been extremely happy and satisfied with the people and service provided by London Auto. Nick, Pete, Christian and Pong are a pleasure to do business with. I completely trust their judgement and honesty about car repairs and pricing. The quality of work has been exceptional. Great place to bring your car in for service.
Great service and great people. Very professional and friendly as well. I totally trust my classic cars with London Auto!
As a newbie Alfa owner I brought my vintage Spider Quad to London Auto for an initial assessment and advice on care and maintenance. What I received was more than great service, but a personal and passionate commitment to my experience as a classic car owner and invaluable insights into the condition of my vehicle, opportunities to engage with area Alfa owners and contacts for sourcing parts and other specialty services. This is a team of advocates and artists, not just mechanics. Rendering your vehicle into Londons care is not just a smart choice, its a privilege.
London Auto Services has always been complete in the work they have done on my cars. They suggest maintenance issues to be addressed in the future to avoid breakdowns.
The old 1993 Range Rover has had a lot of repair done to it but I need it for the AWD occasionally for the mountain I live on during the snow, Codes keep appearing and most may be faulty. Nick found bad brake lines and repaired this last time around.
I chose London Auto to install an overdrive transmission in my 48 year old Triumph TR 6 based on this shops reputation and a very positive initial consultation visit. I couldnt have been more pleased with the the results of the work performed by Dave, an experienced Triumph master mechanic who pays attention to detail and knows British cars and owns them himself. While the car was in the shop I also requested an in-depth evaluation of the car to identify issues that needed attention and would improve the safety and performance of the car as well as those that could be performed at a future date. The analysis was thorough and complete and fully explained to me in detail so I requested that the suggested work be performed. The car I drove away from the shop was the same color as the one I dropped off, but was a totally different car as to performance and handling and a true joy to drive. A total thumbs up to Nick, Dave and London Auto Services.
London Auto did a great job with my classic car. They diagnosed an idle issue my car had that several shops before them had not been able to figure out, and after they replaced the bad part my car idles smoothly again. Every few days I got a call just to let me know how things were going, which I thought was terrific customer service. I will definitely be back.
Great guys at London. They come high recommended for your classic car repair requirements.
They care about my classic car as much as I do
Excellent service, very knowledgable mechanics.
I have been going to London Auto for over thirty years. They have serviced my wifes Rang Rover, my MGBs and two Alfa Romeos. These guys are professionals who love cars and it shows. They take the time to explain diagnostics and provide reliable estimates of cost. Excellent place to bring your cars.
We have two vehicles that are maintained by the excellent team at London Auto Services. We are new customers to them (began in 2019) and yet they treat us like family. I highly recommend them.
London Auto really goes above and beyond to make sure Im happy with their service. They have worked on my Jag for many years. They do excellent work and Im never disappointed. I highly recommend.
London Auto Services was wonderful. Thank you Nick!
Ive been a client of London Auto for a number of years, entrusting them with total care of my 1967 Jaguar X-KE. Their work is outstanding in all regards--thorough, professional, technically competent and conscientious. My only regret is that I did not find them earlier! This car is 52 years old; finding reliable and capable technicians who have the expertise needed to make repairs on such vehicles can be a challenge. If you have a classic or any car that is important to you, I strongly recommend that you take it to London Auto.
Shout out to Nick, Pete and the team at London Auto. They performed a baseline maintenance/service evaluation of my 82 Fiat Spider 2000 that I recently purchased with only limited service history. London took care of overdue needs, did a complete brake service, spark plugs, fluids, etc. The team is great to work with, explained everything they did in detail and even found an oil pan guard to install to protect my spider. Will continue to use London Auto to support my spider. Nick is active in the local Alfa and Fiat clubs, and knows the community as well as the cars!
Fantastic work! I took my 4C in for some suspension work. They were upfront about not having done it on this car before, but they took their time and did the research. Their communication was great and pricing was fair. I highly recommend these guys!
Nick Vadala picked up my car with great care in time of Covid. He arrived gloved and masked and immediately placed a covering over the steering wheel on my Triumph TR250 (1968). He also had a box with sterile wipes and spray. The service by Dave was superb and timely, as always. Since I was at work, Nick dropped the car off in front of my home. Not only is customer service first rate but so is the actual vehicle service. They are five stars.
Excellent techs and personal service. Recommend Londoun Auto to all that need repairs and/or regular service.
I have gone to London Auto over the years with my Alf GTV6. I have since sold that car and now I own a 2017 Alfa Giulia. It was time for the 30,000 mile service So I asked Nick if he would be up to doing it for me instead of the dealer. He said he had never done one of the new cars but he be willing to give it a shot. I brought it in on a Monday and on Wednesday he had it all done and delivered it to me personally. Everything was done according to specs and the car runs just fine. Save me considerably over the dealer’s charge. I’ll definitely take it back when it’s at 40K.
The best shop for British cars nice people.
Balanced my 62 year old MGAs wire wheels -- not any easy task. Right equipment and knowledge, honest, fair, timely, and a positive attitude. Great!
I purchased a 1980 MGB and the Crew at London Auto were phenomenal in checking and servicing my car. Their knowledge of small European cars is off the chart. Nick has a great team and is a wealth of knowledge around all things cars. They also provided a full check and inspection of a used car I was considering purchasing. I will use them again for all my automotive needs.
London Auto Services is conveniently located on a Metro bus line and accessible. I dropped my car off after hours and received a prompt and informative phone the call the next morning regarding their recommendation. The service was completed by mid-afternoon, was reasonably priced and promptly performed. Thanks Nick!
Everyone was very friendly, but more important, knowledgeable! I felt like my car was in excellent hands.I appreciated the ride to the Mosaic District and prompt phone call when my car was ready. It got finished faster than I expected.
Great team of guys. Great expertise on a range of vintage European cars.
Where would we MG owners be without London Auto to help keep our cars on the road?! Always a delight to work with the chaps there, and so reassuring to know our cars in in the best hands when in their shop. Thanks to them all (especially to Dave, for taking such good care of Brigitte!)
The Technicians at London Auto are not only knowledgeable, professional and very good, they take the time to talk with you and explain the process.I had my clutch replaced on my 1971 TR6, not only was the clutch replaced but the flywheel was removed and inspected and the rear engine seals replaced. If you want your motor worked on properly, then this is the shop to go to. They stand behind their work.Recently London Auto rebuilt my Triumph TR6 carburetors, the rebuild was perfect. My classic runs great.
Very honest and knowledgeable shop. I have taken several of my cars there. Straight-shooters, and fair priced. I highly recommend.
Realistic quotes. Accurate invoicing for work completed. All mechanics have decades of experience. Trustworthy people.
Ive used London Auto over the years for work on my Vintage Alfa Romeo GTV6. I recently had them do the 30K checkup on my 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. Dropped the car off late morning Monday and had it back by Wednesday morning. Saved several hundreds of dollars from taking it to a dealer. Nick is a pleasure to work with.
Another professional and quick response to ‘69 MGB repair need. Thank you Nick, Gail and Pete for a job well done!
I have a 1976 Triumph Spitfire. I used to go to another shop, but came to London Auto Services following a Triumph club meeting at the garage, and have never gone back to the other place. The guys at London Auto Services did a complete tune-up, and the car is running like new. Great service, and a great place to trust the care of your car to.
Christian did an outstanding job repairing the problems ailing our Jeep.
Ive been taking my prized 1973 BMW 3.0CS here for years after I met a fellow CS owner and co-proprietor of this shop, Tom. These guys can tackle anything and their prices are reasonable. Plus they wont do work that isnt needed which cant be said of other shops. Nick and his team are great!
I have been taking my 1959 Morgan to London Auto for over 10 years. These guys are not cheap, but they know what they are doing -- which is cheaper in the long run. I highly recommend them.
Great service, great prices, and great work. Called in to get an estimate on replacing brakes and the estimate they gave came out very close to the actual cost which is often rare. Nick gave me the breakdown of the pricing, the parts, and why they use those parts. Very thorough and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend and look forward to working with them in the future.
The folks at London Auto are the best throughout the business! I cannot give them more than 5 stars or i would.
Best British car repair shop in northern Virginua. Experienced mechanics who can fix anything. They have kept my 50+ year old MGB-GT going for years. Conveniently located on a Metro bus line not far from the center of Falls Church. Friendly staff.
One of the first local shops to work on my BMW coupe. Performed protective maintenance, good to work with.
I think the guys at London Auto are terrific, and I see some of them now as good friends. I have four old Jags that I get serviced at London, and I am always satisfied, even if I have to come back for some corrective surgery. Its also good to know that I can stop by any time to at least discuss an upcoming need for work, or even a tweak or peak here and there. The friendly atmosphere helps a lot. Nick and Dave know me and know my cars. Both of those facts are very valuable to me.Latest items were to repair my tachometer, replace hand brake pads (a major job!), and solve a problem of catastrophic loss of electricity.Coming up: air conditioning and heater control.Bob Andretta
I have been taking my 2012 Toyota Tacoma to London Auto Services for the past several years for honest, friendly, reliable service. Life in Northern Virginia can be more than a little stressful, but thanks to London Auto Services, keeping my truck in good running order is not something I have to worry about.
Nick and the guys rebuilt my E engine about 14 months ago and its running great! London is a place you can trust to do your job! Howard Bollinger
For many years, the mechanics at London Auto have been taking excellent care of my 1974.5 MGB GT - not only do they provide reliable mechanical service, also they are a pleasure to deal with. Always friendly faces, and prompt turnaround on any work/repair - when they promise the car will be ready for pick-up, it is! I highly recommend London Auto Services Ltd.
It is not easy to find competent mechanical support for old British sports cars in the Washington, DC area. London Auto was suggested by a fellow enthusiast and I have been well pleased with the work they have done on my TR6. Wonderful resource for those of us in Northern Va who still enjoy British motoring.
Great place - competent mechanics and honest quality work. I tried another place in the area and was way overcharged. These are the guys you want to work on your MG, Triumph, Jag or other Euro sports car.
I love these guys. Inherited a 1982 Fiat and brought it here for a diagnostic and fix. Excellent service, fair price, good people.
Truly expert and professional, great communication with the customer, and timely--ONLY PLACE TO TAKE YOUR BRITISH AUTO (and others)
Look - You got a car with a carburetor? You got a British or Italian or Swedish or other Euro-car? You cant find parts for your rare 1950 Austin? These are the guys who know what weight of oil to use for your particular affliction; they will degunk your gas tank or transmission or replace it with a new one; they are smart, they are knowledgeable and they are nice. And they like working on your 50-year-old car!Weve all been burned by mechanistos who who lie, cheat and steal. London Auto is not those guys. Theyre not cheap and theyre not infallible but they are better than anyone else!
Very honest and reliable mechanics. They go above and beyond to help their customers. Would not take my car anywhere else and have been going there for years. These folks actually know their customers which is so refreshing for Northern Virginia.
Very responsive to my heeds. Polite / Helpful
Great service and knowledgeable technicians. Rick, Dave and all of the personnel are friendly and take the time to explain their work on your vehicle. Very happy with their work.
Very knowledgeable group of techs. Range Rover service always completed on time and without issue. Fantastic shop!
Great expertise and always willing to discuss potential repairs and alternatives.
Superb service from knowledgeable and experienced mechanics. They do beautiful work.
London Auto did a brake job on our Chevy Malibu in less than two days, including the time needed to get parts. This was the second of our autos that we trusted to them and they have been efficient and effective.
Highly recommend this place. Always ready to explain exactly what is wrong and exactly what they would recommend to fix it.
Excellent high quality work at a reasonable price.
Thorough, helpful, superb customer relations, excellent service and fair pricing. I wouldnt go anywhere else.
First rate service, as always! I have been going there since they opened, several decades ago!
Have no fear when you trust your bay to these guys. Theyre courteous, efficient and very good at what they do to keep our arcane vehicles on the road.
Ive used London Auto for service on my 74 MGB for many years. They keep it running like a sewing machine.
An great garage run by honest, ethical guys who are also incredibly knowledgable. I used to be a loyal customer of Lee-Lex and followed Christian and Pong to London when Lee-Lex closed. Its a bit farther from my house, but worth the trip.
Expert quality repairs and excellent customer service.
My 1983 Alfa GTV6 liked coming to Nicks place for service prior to being put on the market. Now my 2017 Alfa GiuiaTi says MeToo.
Prompt finishing the work for pickup
These guys have provided quality service for all my cars, especially my 79 MGB, for many years. I highly recommend them.
I love them! Nick and the guys are professional while giving you the service like your family. They are the best!!!!!!!!!
