I have lived with my family in Munson Hill Towers since 2017 and I can honestly say it’s the best apartments community that I have ever lived in.The wonderful office staff, Specially Sara she always helping us and I really appreciate her.The maintenance staff are professional.Every one here is courteous and friendly and I don’t ever plan to moving from here! They are almost done with the construction and renew everything they install washer and dryer in each apartment. It have a nice and clean Gym, Nice and clean swimming Pool, Nice Play ground, Bicycle room. Packages Room….When Me and my family call or stop by the office we always greeted by our names and very helpful with any of our needs.I know some people living in Munson Hill Towers from last 15 years and they love it! Living in this community has been a positive experience.Very comfortable having guest coming to my home. The property overall is always kept clean.I would recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a nice place to live.Thank you again.Rabani
Two and a half 3 stars Is a proper star rating. While the inside units are nice, there are A LOT of irritating things about this apartment. Im a current resident so Ill share my experiences and Im sure others experience it as well. There is a serious mouse infestation here. Ive caught about 14 mice on my own. Management doesnt care to resolve issues. If you want things done you have to do them yourself. I called management several times about the mouse situation and they would only put down sticky traps. Which NEVER has done anything. The mice are smart enough not to step on them. But I digress... Dealt with this issue for months. Ill post some pictures. Which are all separate nice. Individually. I caught 14. FOURTEEN! and I failed to take photos of them all because some were from different days.On another note. The elevators break about every week. Its a annoying. I live on the second floor so the stairs are ideal but it sucks because you cannot access the stairs from the outside.Theres A LOT of construction. Which is understandable that theyre trying to fix up the place but they also hog the elevators all day. Which probably adds to their breaking down. There were also some promises made at the day of signing. They would be adding washer and dryer units to each apartments and such in a few months.. But its failed to happen as of yet. Been here almost a year. Still spending money. And while its not a huge deal breaker on that part, its annoying that they say one thing and another happens quite often.Remember theyre trying to sell you on this place so they wont tell you the negatives. If youre seriously thinking about moving in. Talk to a few of the residents.
Two stars because of the rennovations. The best experience has been the new ammenities and the space. Unfortunately, management has ways to go with the way they operate their building. Recently I purchased a new vehicle, and got towed when the leasing office was closed unable to get a sticker. Rent disclosed in original contract was not accurate therefore providing me a different total amount from what I agreed on. Paid for a reserved spot in the general parking area and have not been refunded. Tried to jump on the portal to pay my rent online and now the whole Munson Hill website has been down throwing 404 error codes. Sloppy and inconvenient.
Washer & Dryers in your unit with amazing pricing .. aside from construction it gets no better than that. renovations are coming along nicely, the units are renovated with a modern look and feel to it . I love management, their very understanding and work with you to meet your needs! Very family oriented and It’s also pet friendly .
I scheduled a tour for a 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom at this building via Zillow and was in contact with a leasing assistant at this building. Upon arrival and after waiting for 45 min I was shown a 1 bedroom/ 1 bathroom unit by the front desk person because the only leasing person was busy and no one else was available. This was very confusing. After waiting for another 20-30 minutes. I was approached by a very rude and unprofessional lady who is another leasing assistant there. she didnt care to introduce herself and just very angrily told me that the 2 BD/ 2 BR unit would not be available until July as if I was a burden. I emailed my initial contact about this to let him know what happened and he didntt even care to respond. instead he sent me an automated Email 30 minutes later stating that they have 2br/2ba available for immediate move in. lolTo summarize, even If this was the absolute best option for me I would NEVER want to deal with the people at this building. Friends who lived there in the past warned me about this but I did not expect it to be this bad. Its embarrassing. Please dont waste your time or energy.
I just moved in December 2020. I love the apartment. Very spacious, recently renovated with new appliances and furnishing and in a very quiet area thats close to my job. There are loud and interfering remodeling and renovations going on but thats nothing to complain being as this results in a new and improved building.HOWEVER, the management is rude and unprofessional. They lack communication skills. Ive been battling ongoing problems with their rent payment portal. My check has been constantly bounced with no rhyme or reason. In January, I confirmed with my bank (Bank of America) that the banking information I was putting in online was correct. I also confirmed that I had more than sufficient funds to pay the rent. I presented this (with bank statements confirming I had enough money in my account) to a member of the office management and was instructed (by Abdul and Sara) that they will remove the NSF fee of $50 if I bring the rent payment in certified funds by end of day the next day. This was rather inconvenient as I work during the day and am unable to sneak out to go to a place I can get a certified check from before it closes. But whatever, I get it done and get the check to them by end of day the next day.Now February 1st comes, I re-enter my banking information online and proceed to pay my rent. I never get any notification (via call or email) from the office management that this payment didnt go through either. Now, today on March 1st, I login to pay this months rent and see the current balance containing both February & Marchs rent. Im already annoyed because I cannot possibly sneak out of my job again to go get another certified check to pay them. Also, they do not accept personal checks. Like what is the point of having an online payment portal that never works?! This is the 21st century after all, no?So I call the office and ask to speak to a manager or supervisor . The lady who gets on after my request (no clue who this is) was sarcastic and rude. She cut me off in the middle of my explanation of whats been going on to insist that I mustve put my banking information in wrong and thats that. As if she knows better and what Im saying occurred in the past is absolutely wrong. I promptly informed her that I cross-referenced using my online banking account and on the phone with a BOA agent that the information I put in was correct. I asked for the NSF fee to be removed and she tells me it cannot. I informed her that it has been done the last time this happened (she wouldve heard me say this, had she not cut me off). She then proceeds to try to tell me that the first time this happened, it was because there wasnt sufficient funds (INCORRECT) and now its because I put the information in wrong (INCORRECT again).I inform her that I showed proof that there was enough money in my account the last time by way of bank statements showing dollar amount, and then all of a sudden she changed WHAT SHE JUST SAID. Now shes saying that theres no reason showing why my payment didnt go through in January (mind you, she just proclaimed that there was insufficient funds). So I continue to ask for the NSF fee to be removed, she says theyll waive it but to go ahead and delete my banking info and re-enter it (FOR THE THIRD TIME). I proceed to ask if the NSF fee will be removed before I attempt this payment again and before she takes the time to understand what Im asking, shes already rudely hitting me with the Like I said delete the bank account info and re-enter blah blah blah. THATS NOT WHAT I ASKED. I wanted to ensure the NSF fee would be removed prior to me doing that. Why would I go ahead and make another payment without making sure that that was gone from my balance??? She was very snippy and impatient with me. Almost like I was bothering her. TUH!!!! Bottom line is, do NOT let anyone bully you here!!!! I had to stand my ground and reaffirm what I know to be correct in order to get what I needed from this office. See pic for what happened when I tried to log in to do what she instructed me to do.
The renovations are looking beautiful and management is doing everything possible to be as accommodating as they can be during a huge renovation (they are giving us washers and dryers in our apartments for christ sake) ! I have personally witnessed staff being harassed about things that are simply out of their control ( construction noise, accounting/IT issues, and other ridiculous things) Management and the concierge are ALWAYS going out of their way to help us. The way service industry people are treated is completely unwarranted. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences interacting with employees (& contractors) here.
I have lived here for three years. I love my apartment. Construction can get a bit tedious at times but I can’t wait to see the final product. The staff and maintenance are both so helpful and will take care of anything.
I moved out on 10/15 after renting since Nov. 2017. Munson failed to return my security deposit within the Virginia state guidelines of 45 days. I am still fighting to get it returned to me. The PM and the APM keep giving me the run around and “promising” accounting will issue a payment. This is utterly inexcusable. As a renter, dealing with the horrible building issues(water/elevator/electricity/cleanliness) and outages, plus issues within my own apt unit over the years, I was still required by law to submit payments on time. Munson Hill is required by law to return security deposits on time, within 45 days. Why they choose to break the law, is beyond me. However, having to escalate this very simple problem to Fairfax County and beyond is unnecessary and deeply troubling. If you decide to peacefully ignore all the issues it’s the building and the units, BE AWARE of the issues that lie ahead of you when it’s time to move out and DOCUMENT everything with these unscrupulous people.
Constant loud construction for the last two months+, elevators are consistently down (construction, repairs, condoned off for various reasons), the parking lots are in shambles, an entire closet was blocked off from my room to make room for laundry machines that wont be here until next year, smoke from other apartments travels through the vents into my apartment. Managements response was for me to pay them a penalty by breaking my lease.Dont live here. The place is a construction zone and management has zero sympathy.
A lot of the complaints here are unwarranted and even contradictory. There were Issues, yes, because this is an old building, but management is working to fix them.It really doesn’t make sense to complain that the elevators aren’t working and then complain again that they are doing maintenance on the elevators to renovate them and had to shut them down. The elevators work like a charm now, thanks to those renovations.Management is good for the most part, Sara and Abdul have been fantastic, I havent had many interactions with Iliana but no issues with here either. There have been issues with staff in the past, but none with the ones who currently work here. Especially in these difficult times, the staff have really shown their worth.Maintenance always does a great job when you open a ticket and will resolve your issues, but they are not psychic like some reviewers apparently expect them to be.The only complaint I have really is the location. It is far from the metro, and traffic is bad on this part of Route 7 even compared to elsewhere in the DC area. But that’s really not within management’s control. Still, location matters when choosing an apartment and I have to factor that in. Construction is annoying while its happening, but if past projects are any indicator, it will be worth it in the end.
Sara turned my complicated situation into a simple solution. She went above and beyond to make it impossible possible for us here at Munson hill towers with a great view and big spacious apartment we are very comfortable here at Home!
The renovated units are beautiful, with amazing lighting, gorgeous hardwood floors and updated appliances. The location is nice and convenient at a great price point (especially when you consider the proximity to Washington DC). I have been thoroughly impressed with managements willingness to work with my husband and I to find a unit that meets all our needs.
Although, there is a lot of construction going on Munson Hills has a management team that cares. They do their best to try and accommodate us. Sara has been the one we usually go to with any concerns and she has been great! I am very happy with my choice to live here and will be even more excited when renovations are done. Not to mention the view from my apartment is amazing! I highly suggest you make this place home.
The apartment constantly has no heat or water in winder. The landlord does not fixing those issues on time.
Lived here for over three years. Kenny and Sara are great.
Apartments are very spacious and lots of closet space! Tons of building improvements going on in the building, management is really trying to bring life back to this building. The staff is very friendly and always communicate whenever it concerns us which is greatly appreciated!!!! We loveeeeee the resident events they put on every month, they really do care about us residents. We will be renewing our lease for sure !
Such a great place to live. Me and my family love living here. Very close to shops, metro and the mosque which is very convenient for us.
Even in these trying times MHT has been able to accommodate to case by case situations. Which management(Sara&Kenny) have been so helpful and understanding makes the bad times not feel so terrible. Thank you and Miss Andrea for all you do!
Kenny and Sara are always helpful. I have been here for 15 years and Akelius and the staff here are the best this building has had. The construction at times can be annoying and take a long time but we see the long term outcome and efforts to improve the building.
Worst place to ever! I have been here for 5 years and it keeps getting worse. The management has changed about 10 times since. Construction all week long incl. Saturday and Sunday will wake you up early every day and the water is shut off every week without notice. Mold in my apartment and all they do is paint over it. The elevators are out most of the times and I get to walk up 11 flights. This week a major water pipe on the 12th floor broke and it was pouring water for a few hours. Many apartments were flooded and management did not even have the guts to send out an email about the incident instead they told me not everyone needs to know about it. The entire hallways are wet now and smell is toxic! Stay away do not let the photos of the renovated apartments fool you. All they do is paint over the old. This place is built in the 60s and breaking down. Completely overpriced! Packages get stolen in front of my door. Some people have mice in the apartments and nothing is done about it. In the parking lot the trees are falling on top of cars and damage them and they cannot even manage to cut them down! CANNOT WAIT TO MOVE OUT in march. It has been a long stay here with issues every single week.
Sara is one of the best, and I look forward to seeing her everyday. Beautiful views and nice neighbors.
Sara is amazing person very helpful she cares about every individual who lives at Munson Hill Apartments,Any help you need at Munson Hill Apartments she is there on the phone or email she’s very activeThank you Sara 🙂
I love living at munson hills. We can walk to Dar al Hijrah on warm days and my children love the school they attend. Munson hill staff is very helpful and maintenance will help with anything! We are excited to see when the renovations are ended. Thank you Munson Hill!
Constant power, water, heating, and cooling outages. Elevators are the only way to access the building but half are usually broken/not working. Management would rather spend money renovating marble-trimmed common areas than resolving these basic issues in an obvious attempt to lure in new tenants rather than take care of old ones.Edit: I have bumped up my review after recent actions by the management team. Since my last review, management has listened to tenant feedback and completed renovating elevators (renovated elevators have not broken down as much). Chillers have been replaced, so AC outages in the summer are less frequent. There are continuing issues with hot water, but the management team is actively working to replace old water heating systems. Finally, when my apartment flooded due to old plumbing, management responded quickly and effectively to address my problems and concerns. The management team is definitely working for the tenants benefit, although they face the problems of a very old building. Overall, not a bad place to live, and much improved from my first review.
We have been living here for over a month now and love our apartment, everything has been fully renovated with very nice appliances. Management has been very helpful and professional. We recently had an issue with our fridge and maintenance was here in about 20 mins to fix the problem. The community seems to be very welcoming and friendly (also pet friendly)! We read reviews about this place before moving in and they weren’t the best but, for our price range and the renovation we decided to give it a try anyways. This must be a new management because everything has been wonderful so far!
We have lived here for 3 months and overall the experience has been terrible. I honestly wish that we had just stayed at our old apartment. The cons far outweigh the pros for MHT. Pros: Our unit is nicely renovated in most aspects... nice kitchen and floors. Cons: Elevators are always broken. People get stuck on the elevators constantly. Out of the 4 elevators we have, 2 have been broken since before Christmas. Just earlier this week we were down to 1 out of 4 elevators because the elevator door wouldn’t close properly. And if you think “Oh just use the stairs.” The stairs are locked in the basement level so you cannot get in or out. The building is very dirty, trash on the hallway floors, gum stuck in the carpets, broken tiles, the walls are in serious need of touch up paint because they look dirty and marked up. Our Christmas wreath was stolen off our door. I contacted management and was told the manager would call me when she got back in the office... that was over a month ago. I never was called back. The fire alarms go off at least once a week because someone pulls it as a prank or because the boiler breaks and sets it off. In the three months we’ve lived here the boiler has broken twice and we’ve been without hot water for over 16 hours each time. This makes it really inconvenient to get ready for work because you can’t take a shower. In October, the main office switched from AC to heat only. Due to this, the apartments are unbearably hot until it actually gets cold outside in mid November. We moved here to save a couple hundred dollars a month on rent. That was the worst decision we have ever made. Trust me when I say stay away from this place unless you’d like to be stuck in a miserable environment for a year. Paying more money for a better apartment is definitely worth the budget stretch... look at apartments in Vienna.
This one star should have been in red to reflect the negative review for this building/management. I just moved out and noticed I forgot a “couple trays” inside the apartment. I went back and asked the manager to get in and grab the trays and he said if you want the keys back I am going to charge you a rent for one day. Regardless of the rude/unprofessional behavior from the manager, nothing has been even ok in this building. Look at the rest of reviews and you can tell. Overall, this building is not recommended to anyone.
Ridiculous management. The actual apartments are nice & recently remodeled, but if you look a little closer you can tell they cheaped out on a number of things in the remodel. There are frequent emergency water shut offs and fire alarm scares. The elevators are dirty, beat-up, and often anywhere from 1 - 3 (out of 4) of the elevators are down, sometimes for weeks at a time. We were offered zero compensation for the elevator outages or the water shut-offs. You also cant even take the stairs up because theyre locked from the basement level. The hallways are always dirty and the laundry machines are very wonky. Rather than put some MUCH needed TLC into fixing the elevators/hallways/amenities, management decided to pour MORE money into the ONE nice thing about the building, the lobby. WHY??? No one knows. It is a mystery.I would be willing to work with management to resolve my issues, but in the mean time, stay FAR far away.
Friendly and efficient staff! Nice renovated apartments!
All the previous reviews are from old management. Munson Hill has just renovated their apartments and lobby- they look fantastic! New management is much more willing to help residents with any needs or problems. Environment is nice, I would definitely recommend this apartment!
Lovely apartments. Friendly staff that cares My apartment feels like home.
I have lived here since October 2017 and after my time here I would recommend you to look somewhere else. Trust me, I did not believe the other reviews when I was looking. Between the constant maintenance including routine water outages, elevator issues, and no individual HVAC or hot water heather in the unit. The shower doesnt maintain a consistent temperature and goes from hot to cold a few times during a shower. At the time of this writing its 81 degrees in my apartment and theres another month before the building switches over to air conditioning. If you arent familiar with the building heating/cooling concept it means you can only utilize what the building is producing - heat or AC. This is really a big issue for me during those periods when the temperature changes and you want AC, but the building is still producing heat. This uncomfortable period can last a few weeks and it is miserable. I will not be renewing my lease because of the water temperature and the fact that I dont have full control over the temperature in my home. There are also lots of very young kids in this building as well as families.Since I have moved in there have been quite a few issues. The elevators on my side of the building have been down 3 times - down for a few weeks at one point due to a water leak. There have been 3 instances where I have not had hot water: 3 times in the morning before work and once in the evening on a Saturday night. The water has been shut off part of the day for routine maintenance at least 5 times, but I do receive notice ahead of time. The fire alarm has gone off 5 times - once in the middle of the night. The water in my shower doesnt usually maintain a consistent temperature throughout a shower. As of 4/14 my apartment is 81 degrees and management isnt turning the air on until sometime in May.As of 5/14 the AC is still not working; thats a month without AC in a period that I would normally have the AC running; its miserable. This is a very multicultural area so there are many different food smells from time to time; I often smell what I think boiling onions would smell like. The apartment is fully renovated and looks just like the pictures. The parking has not been a problem for me as there is always a spot to park - even late at night. I had a fantastic experience with the leasing process. I never even saw the apartment or the building before I moved in as I was out of state and they made the process very easy for me. I found the place on one of the apartment search sites. I also have a corner unit with a great view. This is the first time I have had a building with a concierge which makes getting packages super easy. There is no laundry in the unit, but there are 2 washer and dryers on each floor which seem to work most of the time.
The rudeness/unprofessional behaviors from the management except from Sara is unbearable and makes me feel that I need to look for another place to live as soon as possible Unless the management changes their attitudes, behaviors I would not recommended this place to anyone. I am sorry.
Absolutely appalled at how poorly the Akelius management team handles this apartment complex. The elevators are constantly out of order- multiple times a month. Back in December, 3 out of the 4 elevators in the building were out of order for 3 weeks. In addition, the elevators are always dirty and are covered with strange, dark curtains. There are “emergency shutoffs” almost every week. This means that the water is shut off from sunrise until sunset, and residents cannot cook, shower, brush their teeth or even use the toilet. This is absolutely unacceptable. In the midst of these issues, Munson Hill Towers sent out an email to its residents to inform us that they will be making renovations to the common areas of the building. This makes no sense when there are actual problems that must be fixed immediately.
I was supposed to move in on August 17th. The apartment building had a burst pipe and my apartment needed repairs. They kindly provided temporary housing and covered the cost of moving. Sara Steckman is extremely nice, however her boss is not. I became gradually angry as they moved out the move-in date to August 23rd, and then September 3rd, and then September 12th, and now finally September 19th. I am going on a trip on the 19th and need warmer clothes as I am going somewhere cold. I am unable to access my storage unit as everything is wrapped up in preparation for moving. The leasing manager was extremely rude to me and told me that I need to get my story straight. DO NOT LIVE HERE. PEOPLE ARE RUDE. And it seems Ill be living in a hotel for a very long time because they cant THEIR story straight. When can people come back home?! Awful. I would give them 0 stars if I could.
A lot of these reviews below are from the old management. Munson Hill just changed management in September, 2016, and the new management is much better. They hired on new maintenance people and fired several of their old contractors who did really bad work. I moved in back in May, and there has been a marked improvement in service. They have also done a lot of repairs on the building since taking over. The complex has a very diverse population, which is nice to see. Everybody says, Have a good day when you leave the elevator. The grounds are clean and the view from the upper floors is very nice. They are also remodeling apartments as people move out. The rent is actually decent for the area. If you want good quality apartments in a great location, then you have to pay for it. Just keep your apartment clean: that will take care of your pest problem. I havent even seen a fly in my apartment, let alone roaches or mice. Some complaints would be that the elevators occasionally go out, sometimes leaving one elevator for the entire building. The kids will occasionally pull the fire alarms, but thats not managements fault. Uber has the hardest time finding this place (again, not managements fault). I have one of the newly remodeled apartments, and the air circulation sucks! There are 3 vents in the main room, and only 1 in each of the bedrooms. Some days, it is cooler in the hallway than in my apartment. This may be an isolated problem, but it is still an issue.Overall, the staff is friendly, the maintenance crew is very professional, and the price is reasonable given the area and what you get.
The renovation of the apartments are nice. Luxury, not really. The building always seems to have something wrong with it every week. The east side elevator has been down for the entire summer and they just now are getting it looked at to be fixed. On top of that, there are heat/air and water shortages very frequently throughout the year. There will even be days with only cold water and sometimes the hot water doesn’t start until 8 am so have fun taking a cold morning shower. Hate living here DO NOT LIVE HERE, unless you like taking stairs.
Friendly staff, great location, and nice renovations!
Im so glad Im leaving this stupid place. The building is so hot theres no a.c. in each floor the lobby has a.c. thats the only place you get a.c.People here hate dogs. So if you are planning to move here and have a dog dont live the are here. Nighobors will close the elevator door so you dont get in and they will make a complain. And this is place is so expensive. dont believe what you see online.
Ive lived here for more than 5 years ever since I moved here to Falls Church. This building was 100% better before they started renovation. It didnt matter the looks but everything worked, and no problems. Ever since they started renovating it has been miserable.Every now or then you wouldnt have hot water but cold, AC wouldnt be working during the summer, and the elevators can be useless! I would have to wait for more than 15 mins or go down the stairs which isnt the greatest Ill tell you that. I still live here because of Fairfax schools. Other than the problems, the management is helpful.
Ive been living here for two weeks, so far so good, newly remodeled nothing to complain. but I may update my post as needed.
I’m just going to save you a whole lot of time and frustration... never live here.
We been living here for 11 months and thanks God is our last month living in this place its always Problems Every week with the elevator and used the stairs up and down is not funny and more when u have babys and leaving in the 10th floor is not right, and also with the AC for the summer and now is with the heat and nowwwwww is problem with the hot water, and its take so long to repair it, the only good thing about this apartament that they are renovated and everything is brand new that the only thing Good about it... and also they charge $10 for parking who Who other apartment complex does that...... the manage of the building Should give us a discount on the rent bill for all this problems going on this building but they never think about us they only think on the MONEY that they charge every month....... 😤
Very very very bad experience and bad management, most of the time the elevator is not working, the IC is not working, the door is not opning, the mantenance do not come on time untill 2 days later or more, bad managment atitude accept Sara, ...... And it not with old managment no it is with the now managment and today we r 05/29/2019 and still we have all these problems....
If you’re considering moving here— don’t. It will legit be the worst decision of your life. This building is absolute trash. The halls are always dirty with food, wrappers, empty bottles. The 4 elevators are always broken. I’ve been stuck in the elevator that dropped 4+ floors several times. When the elevators are working, they’re always dirty; spills that are never cleaned, gum stuck on the elevator walls, broken tiles. The management is awfully rude. During my 5 years of living there, 3 different companies have bought out MHT. Each management was progressively worse. we finally moved out on New Year’s Day. While we were moving out, we noticed a random carpet on the elevator floor (1/4 elevators were functioning that day as well as for the entire previous 2 weeks). We tried moving it because we weren’t able to roll our furniture into the elevator just to find that management had taken an old carpet and placed it ON TOP someone’s puke from New Year’s Eve the night before. Absolutely disgusting. The only good thing from this horrid building are the maintence workers. They are very kind and hard working men. I feel bad that they have to work under such awful management. So save your time, your money, and find somewhere else to live. Munson Hill is a disaster.
Awful management, it changed 4 times in 2 years, and somehow theyve only gotten worse.Lived here for several years now, and I just wanted to say that the management of this building is absolutely dreadful. I will never rent from Akelius again, nor will I allow anyone I know to do so.I have no idea who the manager is for my building because no one gives names on the emails. The washing machines only work half the time. The water hasnt been a consistent temperature in over a year and maintenance cant seem to fix it, they just do water shut offs almost EVERY week. The elevators get stuck, lights go out, they go up when they should go down, like god damn theme park ride. And the management in charge of this laughable operation operation actually saw fit to renovate the lobby and common areas instead of addressing these serious issues. Its an absolute joke.EDIT: Also, just wanted to state that mary fts review is 100% accurate in everything. Listen to what she says as well.
I have lived in apartment complex for 3 years . Moved in when WRIT managed the property. Rent was affordable and a decent place to live. Then, buzzuto managed thenGreystAr. Now Akellius manages it and its so horrible ! They charge$10 to park your car ??? Ive never had to pay for parking. The elevators are always suspect and its always random charges on my rent.Management rarely answer emails
Seconde review, other than paint peeling doors creeking and elevators failing. Now the floors in my unit are bulging. They have pockets of air inside beacuse of cheap material ised to remodel unit. It is dorectly the owners fault for these problems due to lack or supervision and accountability for these issues.
As someone who is living here for almost 3 years now, I can say that all the negative things people are saying are true. The new and current management (akelius) have not done anything to improve conditions. The constant construction is annoying and often wakes you up in the morning. Power outage and water shut offs are common. The water temperature is very inconsistent and would change as youre taking a shower. Parking is a nightmare and it is impossible to find a space after 11 pm.
Extremely unprofessional management with poor attitudes. Ive lived here for the past year and there was never a day without construction. Constant noises resulting from it throughout the day along with disgusting elevators/facility. Ill save you the time, dont lease here.
4 year resident here, I moved into a newly renovated 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. The price is $2100 not including utilities parking or insurance. I work in the construction field and I know how these works. Akelus hires the cheapest contractors to do the job to save money. I have lived here 6 months and the apartment has had serious issues. Heater went bad from christmas till after new jears and needed replacement. The walls are cracking because the paint is cheap and corners werent properly sealed. Trims are falling off. Pipes in wall rattle. Now also frequent issues with water shutoff, heat shut off, fire alarm going off, roaches, construction noise everyday from morning to afternoon.Building need serious repair but Akelus knly wants to cover it up and sell it to the next guy to make a profit.Munson hill towers, there are other great choices around the area that will meet or beat their price.Do Not Move In. Thank you.
This place sets up their residents for complete FAILURE! A GUEST is more important than a paying RESIDENT!!!! Resident dont take priority in anything. As a paying resident they decided to tow my car because I parked in a guest parking late at night due to no parking, my car had all the required permits to park. $10 monthly fee to have those. They dont know their elbows from their ankles since they cant even operate a simple community gate. I missed work that day and thought my car was stolen while they took enternity to find out where my car was. All they did was give me a piece of sticky note with the towing truck number, saying they can not get involve with the towing company. Their excuse? (They sent out emails saying residents cant park in guest parking even when there is no parking late at night) that same day there was a gas and water outage in the building .. $160 to get my car. A lot of money lost.l since I couldnt make it to work. They send you atleast 3-5 notes on your door about outages and water gas and power issues WEEKLY! . And these people expect you to be able to keep track of every Idiotic change they make to a simple living in an apartment building. Again if you want a distaster living experience go ahead and move here.
Towed my car with no notice, for parking in a spot that doesnt have any indication that its reserved. And it smells. Wish I could leave 0 stars.
In the entire two years or so Ive been here, Ive never had issues. Never had pest issues, but do see lots of lady bugs and the occasional spider, but they do not bother me. Never seen a mice or a roach. Traffic on 7 can suck, but thats all over the DC area. I dont know what people are talking about in terms of infestations. Ive havent seen a single roach or mice the entire time Ive live (and continue to live) at Munson Hill Towers. This area is extremely expensive and people expect the Taj Mahal for under 2K in this area and thats not gonna happen. Temper your expectations, keep your house clean, and youll do fine. I do say that I am pleased that despite the fact that we have a sizable population of pets, Ive never stepped in dog poo, which is a major issue with other apartment complexes (so much so they have turned to doggy DNA id to catch the offenders). My only pet peeve is that I cannot get DirectV because of the giant Oak tree blocking the signal. The area is safe. I used to leave my car unlocked and Ive never had it stolen or anything taken out of it. The office even lends out snow shovels during major snow storms. I dont know why people have an issue with this place.
1 star for friendliness and communication. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! Rude, snobby, disorganized.Viewing time was at 5:30pmWe got there at 5:35pm and the leasing office was locked with the lights off (leasing office closes at 6pm)Waited outside the doors for 10 minutes until a lady walked into view from another entrance inside the locked office. She ignored us until we pulled on the door to get her attention. She motioned us to the left; there was a separate door about 15 ft away that looked like it was employees only. (closed off, no windows, looks private)Its now 5:45pmWe knew they closed at 6pm and we were now 15 minutes late so we tried to hurry. Said we were here for our 530pm appointment to view an apartment. She responded really snobby, ACTUALLY, your appointment was at 5pm and walked away from us, looked like she was trying to point out she was too busy because we were late (even though we were locked outside the office for 10mins)We nicely told her that shed emailed us with a 5:30pm viewing time, but either way we are late and wed like to view an apartment. The lady was short AGAIN with us and said, What IM going to do is write down your information and then reschedule your appointment for another day.I was kind of blown away.. and lost my interest with Munson because of this lady!! I do not want to live in such a hostile environment. I dont care if you hate your job, but dont take it out on us.Plus, we still had 15 minutes? We viewed the Roosevelt in less than 20 mins and we saw the apartment & amenities; we just wanted Munson to show us an apartment, thats it! What would that take - MAYBE 5-10 minutes?? We saw/read everything online and were ready to sign a lease if the apartment looked great.I said well, can we just see an apartment really quick? (trying to point out we dont need to see the amenities). A few seconds of hesitant, then she said well I have an appointment and I need to take down all your information...aaaand..... And then I cut her off and was thinking are you serious?? I walked out and said Its ok, sorry to inconvenience YOUWe immediately left and sent her our confirmation email for 5:30pm along with:In addition, we showed up at 5:35pm (yes, a couple minutes late, our apologies) but your leasing office was locked and the lights were off. So we just waited outside the leasing office door waiting for you.I suggest you work on your communication for locked doors and viewing times. This should have just been an miscommunication on her end, but she seemed PROUD to be rude to us - like we were idiots. They are miserable employees who will make you miserable if you live there; dont do it!
