Our family of 6 did the nature walk in the rain forest. It was amazing. Although it was muddy and raining it only added to the great experience. Angel, our guide, was outstanding. He had so much energy and made sure everyone was safe and enjoying themselves. Alex was on time for pick up and was kind and friendly. Overall an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!

The kayaking tour was really nice. Be prepared to paddle about 3 miles to get to the final destination. And on the return trip it will be dark. Once you arrive in the middle of the bay under the moon light it is beautiful and serene. It was a full moon and very bright so we didnt see much. But Id say it was still worth it. We had an amazing time. Our tour guide Wesley was great. Very personable and informative. They even had cold water and snacks waiting for us when we returned which was a nice touch.

What an amazing experience this was. Our tour guides Wes and Pedro were funny and would banter back and forth in Spanglish which made it even more fun. We had a very long day and almost cancelled this reservation but at the end, exhausted and hot, we were smiling and happy because my wife and I had shared this experience together. Highly highly highly recommend.

Its seldom that a tour hits all the right places. Our day with Access Tour PR could not have been better! From a punctual pick up arrival, the friendliest and BEST driver we have met in a while, comfortable van, and perfect amount of stops. To the tour guide Edwin for our Yunque excursion who was not just so knowledgable about the area and its flora and fauna, but clearly passionate about his job. The Yunque hike itself was wonderful. A must visit place in Puerto Rico. I had visited before, but going with a guide who actually knew the area taught me so much. The Yunque tour had so many stops.... waterfall, hike, pool, river, ghost tower.... it was just amazing! Then we were taken to eat lunch at a wonderful local place with great food and super reasonable prices. The driver and tour guide were both available to help us through even with food questions....Then we went to Luquillo beach for 2 hours to relax and enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches on the island before we got picked up for the bio bay night kayak tour. Kayaking at sunset, seeing all the stars come out and going through the mangroves was simply stunning. Getting to actually see the bioluminescence even though it was not even that dark was just the cherry on top.We could not have asked for a more perfect experience. I would give this tour, the driver, and tour guide 10 stars if I could. I recommend this to anyone going to Puerto Rico.

Alright let me be real... the 3 stars is mainly because Wesley is an amazing tour guide and we wouldn’t have had it any other way (: he was so kind, funny, and he knew his stuff! On the other hand, the bay wasn’t as impressive as we expected and as we would’ve liked. We know that it all about letting nature take its course but I’m not sure I would go kayaking again at night for that... & here’s why: kayaking in dark is disaster waiting to happen. Everyone is bumping into each other, you can’t see the branches in front of you (or anything for that matter). It was entertaining to see everyone struggle though LOL unless you’re an experienced kayaker, stick to daylight experiences. Lastly, it was all about the company of the people we went with for us because if we didn’t have a fun group, this all around would’ve been zero stars. Lots of laughs and silliness.

We did the biobay tour with this company through TripAdvisor and it was very pleasant! Definitely book around the moon schedule because when I went it was a full moon and nothing was really seen, but our guide Wesley was awesome and made it work with a tarp. His knowledge, and testing skills made it very enjoyable! If its your first time kayaking, youll be fine lol. It was mine, and everything was pretty standard and easy to follow.Even if you dont see too much of the plankton, the view in and of itself is incredible. And you get a good workout with snacks provided afterward. :)Great experience!

First I would like to state the tour guides/staff are nice and friendly. We did the bio bay luminescent tour and it was the worst experience EVER. If you have never kayaked in your life DO NOT go. The instructions are easy to follow however when you have numerous people who have zero experience this will turn into a nightmare. There are several tour guides with their own group going to and from to the lagoon. You are in a narrow cannel and a lot of the areas are pitch black. People were crashing into each other with their kayaks giving you the worried sensation of tipping over with your kayak and falling into the water. The tour guides are yelling at their group to stay in one straight line and on the other side of the cannel to allow the other group to pass through and keep in mind there are no lights, which is difficult for either group when the current is taking you and you have nothing to hold onto and people are crashing into you from behind, on the side, and in front. Get ready to feel like the ball in the pin ball machine. Also, get ready to be stabbed in the face by branches which you can’t see until they are right in your face, hit by the paddles by the other people, and tree branches falling on you. One group flipped over into the water luckily they had life jackets. By the time we got to the lagoon we had to all get side by side holding on to each other’s kayak. We could not find our group because our tour guide light did not work going back we were on our own following another couple who we had not idea what group they were in. One couple was lost and our tour guide told them to wait for their tour guide to come back and get them. Our tour guide went back to get the rest of our group then eventually caught up to us. That as an experience guiding ourselves. Part of our demise was the full moon and the tarp over us didn’t help us see the lights. It is not worth your money. The four of us spent $480. What we got out of this experience is scratches on our face and body, the scary sensation of being flipped over into water in the dark, hit by paddles, fingers bruised, frustration, and pure disappointment.

My friends and I enjoyed the Bio-luminescent Bay Kayaking TourOverall Experience = ExcellentStaff = Very GoodPrice/Value = Very GoodMy Rating Scale = Excellent > Very Good > Good > Just Okay > PoorOverall, this was a fantastic experience and I would definitely go again. A few notes for other considering the Bio-luminescent Bay Kayaking Tour: Arrive Early as parking is very limited and other tour companies depart from the same area. Be prepared to be wet from the waist down including footwear. My phone’s camera doesn’t do well with dark settings, so it wasn’t worth bringing along. I appreciated they offered to hold our car keys to keep them dry and secure. I really liked that this tour was peaceful and respectful of the environment. There were tour guides from other companies that were yelling and shouting and disrupting the atmosphere. Depending on how long youre staying, try to schedule for the darkest night. We went during a near full moon which made it a bit more difficult to see the bio-luminescence.Would I Recommend? Definitely Yes

What sets this company apart from the others is the level of attention you get from the friendly tour guides. We had accidentally booked the wrong date (yikes!). We enjoyed this tour. The bio illumination is really cool. Having seen this before in Jamaica we just has to do another one. The organisms here do not stay lit quite as long so the effect is not as spectacular but still very cool. It is like creating a sparkler everywhere you wave you hand through the water. The tour guides did a good job of explaining everything and keeping everyone going even the ones that never kyacked before. Kyacking in the dark is not easy but they got us all through with only a few pileups from groups that were inexperienced.we had two small issues that took away slightly from the experience. The tour left a bit too early so when we got to the bay it was not dark yet. By the time darkness fell and you could really see the sparks it was already time to head back. Just 15 minutes later would have given us more time to play with them before heading out. We got to swim in the water in Jamaica which is super cool but I understand why they dont allow it here. Just creating the sparks with your hand was still fun I just wish we had more time to do it. The second problem was the lack of parking in the area. Probably because it was a weekend in the summer so all the locals were there enjoying the water. Not sure what the tour company could do about this so try to book a week day if you can. I do recommend this tour just to see this very cool phenomenon. If you can get a later tour time then do that.

If youre looking for bioluminescence, youll be disappointed.

From our hike, I know so much more information that I will keep for a long time. We look forward to coming back for another tour with Edwin! My wife and I just took the Bioluminescence Kayak Tour. We two shared a kayak. I walk with a cane and the Peniel staff was friendly and helpful to me.Though I had kayaked before, my wife had no paddling experience. And because neither of us was in the best of shape, we were unable to keep up with the other 10 or so kayaks in the tour group. Thankfully, one of the 5 guides who went with the group gave us a much needed tow! He hooked a rope from his kayak to ours, and we were able to paddle and rest, paddle and rest, the rest of the way. The kayaks went single file through a mangrove forest, as darkness set in.When we got to Laguna Grande on the other side, it was very dark as rain clouds hid the full moon. I had read that a full moon might make it hard to see the bioluminescent organisms so I welcomed the clouds. But alas, even with darkness there was not much we could see. Swirling ones hand across the water surface made some blue dots and streaks appear. But it required some concentration and maybe, some imagination. After paddling around for about 15 minutes, hoping to see more but to no avail, we had to content ourselves with the few stars that peeked in between the rain clouds. We paddled back through the mangrove forest, again assisted by the towline of our friendly guide Donatello. The forest was as dark as can be, which made the return trip interesting for me (but a bit unsettling for my wife). In the end our arms and shoulders were totally worked over, but we completed the 2- hour trip without incident or injury. Before we departed the staff gave us some much needed water, and chips to munch on.This tour is probably not for people who cannot paddle, and definitely not for those scared of the dark.

We booked last minute, poor planning. Eco Tours answered everytime we called and were very helpful. When we arrived, a little late, I called to locate them. There are several tour companies all in the same location so parking is a challenge. When I said we just arrived, one of the guides joked that he didnt see us running. I knew then that this would be a fun group. After signing in and a brief safety meeting and kayaking 101 lesson we were on our way. Kenny, our tour guide, was great! Informative and funny. The majority of the 2 hours is spent traveling to and from the bay via kayak. The path is through Mangroves and is winding. Dont worry about getting lost in the dark not only does Kenny keep an eye on you but there are also glow sticks on the kayaks to assist in seeing your leader. The bay...beautiful. But! It is not what you see online. Dont expect to see glowing water. What you will see is beautiful landscape, amazing star viewing and some pretty cool sparkle effects in the water as you run your hand or oar through it. Kenny will explain how this all happens. Definitely do it. An experience my family will never forget. Bonus points if you bring Kenny a hoodie. He forgot his in the car. (SouthPark fans will get it)

Let me preface this review by stating the following: Peniel Access Eco Tours is a phenomenal, customer-centric company which strives to provide their customers with unique outdoor experiences.Although briefly mentioned on the Peniel Access Eco Tours website, there needs to be an explicit disclaimer with regard to significantly diminished bioluminescent activity which is directly correlated with the lunar phases of the moon. -- In other words, when the moon is bright there is significantly less visible bioluminescence, and when the moon is dark there is significantly more visible bioluminescence.A visible moon was present on the evening that we toured the bioluminescent bay with Peniel Access Eco Tours. In order to visualize bioluminescent life in the waters of the bio bay, customers must line their kayaks up in parallel fashion with one another, grasp onto the neighboring kayak (being careful not to break fingers between bumping kayak hulls, as a result of the collective groups inability to remain still despite being partially secured by shoreline to your rear). At this point in time a large wet black tarp is pulled over the partially moored group of customers and instructed to splash the water with their hand (you only get to splash with one hand because your other hand is busy holding onto the adjacent kayak) in the exceedingly small sliver of visible water which separates your kayak and the kayak next to you. For the next 4-5 minutes you are free to splash to your hearts content, at which point its then the other groups turn to use the tarp.Again, I want to reiterate that the company, tour guides, and support staff are highly professional, kind, and friendly. Additionally, I understand that the performance of the bioluminescent plankton is based upon a number of conditions, not only lunar conditions, and that it is a biological phenomena which by its nature is difficult to predict. However, it is my opinion (based on my own personal experiences) that the poor performance of the bioluminescent life in specific lunar cycles should be made known to the customer more clearly before booking. Such a misrepresentation to the consumer (who is more than likely not familiar with the relationship between lunar cycles and bioluminescent plankton).Great company and staff. Poor communication. Google a lunar calendar and book your bio bay tour based around the time of the new moon. Im sure you will have a phenomenal experience.

This company offers night kayaking tours to Laguna Grande (one of the few locations where you would be able to see bioluminescence plankton). The night kayaking alone is very nice/unique, but getting to see the planktons is once in a life time experience!!! Unfortunately, the density of the planktons was not as much as I would expect (I am guessing this is also the result of the hurricane) but still I would not miss going there. The tour-guides are very friendly and helpful and some of them are really funny as well.

Review №63

Very friendly tour guides - one of which greeted every participant with a hug. The night time tours have about 15 people on them, and you share a kayak with one other person, so you dont kayak alone. Also, each participant gets a light ring attached to the back of their life vest, and otherwise, the surroundings are pitch black. It would have been an experience to go through the windy water way in the daytime as well because of how gorgeous it looked when we did get a glimpse. The actual bioluminescent bay experience was very overrated, sadly. We left wishing we got to see more but the only visuals were short flashes in the water, if you got lucky. All in all, it was a wonderful experience that I would recommend to any group of travelers.

I did not enjoy it. The drive to the bay is narrow streets, hills and very dangerous in the evening. I am unlucky that night was full moon night. Its bright under moon light in the lagoon so I did not see anything. Kayaking through the canal to the lagoon is a long ride, boring, silent and 1 hour enough time total feed of wild poison mosquitos! We found countless red bumps all over our bodies everywhere badly itching for days afterwards! Its a total waste of my time and money. I should have stayed in the hotel that night just chill than go on this adventurous. Its an overly praised trip on the internet. I saw absolutely nothing depicted as in pictures. My fantasy of the sparking sand or water is crushed.
