-When I became a client with ShelterCare in Jan. 2003, I was an emotional mess. It took me a long time (about 10 years) to stabilize. That wasnt the fault of ShelterCare, that was all on me. Their program is excellent and if you let it work, it will. I had some excellent Case Managers. When a CM didnt work, I went to the powers that be and changes were made. About 10 years into the program, I knew I was ready to move on. It took a few years of searching and a couple of waiting lists before I was able to move. I continued having a CM for a few months after I moved just to make sure I could be completely on my own. I cant say enough wonderful things about ShelterCare. If you want to get better and are willing to work for it, ShelterCare is a great program. I know if I need their support in the future, all I need to do is ask. That is a comfort.
I am homeless and they are helping me to find my own apartment. They helped me obtain a federal housing grant and they have assigned a case manager to work with me. I will be getting some mental health servicesthrough Shelter Care as well. I like this place and I feel safe here.
They do great things for the impoverished and homeless. They often have to put up with a lot from a lot of people and do it with a smile and a helping hand. Im grateful for all theyve done for me.
