I’ve taken my children to the wading pool area a few times and it’s always a fun experience and clean but wow the lifeguards have this weird hostility towards children it seems, I understand they’re responsibility for people’s safety.. but if your 2yr old gets a little to excited, and starts to run a little to much be prepared for them to get screamed at by the lifeguards like drill sergeants.. I and other parents will take the lead and correct our children’s behavior but obviously theirs going to be some psychological limitations for children that age following/understanding the rules 100%, a lifeguard should have enough patience to realize this.
A couple friends and I went to the outside wading pool for the first time this summer. We were SO looking forward to it. Having young kids, I have a pretty realistic idea that most every outing and play date will be a bit chaotic. Even with that realistic mindset however, we were all very let down with our experience today. Almost every life guard was very intense about the “no running” rule. I understand it’s for the children’s safety, but us moms were constantly telling our kids to stop running, yet the life guards were yelling at them most the time and kept blowing their whistles as well. One even came up to me and told me to have my daughter stop running. I said that I kept reminding her to walk and that she was only just two years old. The lifeguard then told me that I was “welcome to get up and walk my daughter to the pool”. It was very rude and passive aggressive. My daughter was barely even jogging and would start walking as soon as I reminded her. Anyway, I totally sound negative, but it really put a damper on things when it felt like the kids couldn’t even be kids without getting scolded by the lifeguards. The kids had a blast and we will go back. Just be warned! The lifeguards take their job of manning one foot deep water and some cement very seriously. I think they just need to feel in control of something since the mask mandate has been lifted.
Good sweat and soak.First sauna in over a year and a half!
Staff was pleasant especially the lifeguards. All really sweet, just a quick shout out to Aly, who works there. She went out of her way to keep the area clean and help me with whatever I wanted not matter how petty.
I cant tell you enough how great this place is! They have so many activities and functions for everyone and prices are sooo reasonable. Summer camps ate the best for my preteen and my 5 year old is the best swimmer from their program.
The restrooms were actually clean in the ladies room..There were a lot of families today in the park and it was very pleasant.
I’ve been swimming and taking classes here for 20+ years and love this place. The two outdoor hot tubs make life worth living!
My daughter has been going to the ASAP program for 3 yrs now. She absolutely loves it. I really like the leaders. They are great with the kids and keeps parents informed. The whole staff at the park are exceptional and always willing to help and answer questions. I would recommend this place for any child. I feel completely comfortable while my daughter is there.
Id be exctatic if the showers would just be running again so I could take my first shower in the last 6 months. The last one was on my birthday in JANUARY, but thanx to our do nothing Mayor, well still be dirty while shes out renaming everything on Gods green earth so noone will be offended by an awful name, but 6 inches of filth on someones body is acceptable. Lucy, wake up and smell the unwashed bodies
We Love It Here!!!RED Is the BEST First Experience, Swim Instructor... My Granddaughter Loves Him and We decided to do Another round of lessons with him before Advancing to Next level. My other Grandaughter does Gymnastics and We Love That as Well.
I havent been to River Road pool since I was a small child. Im glad to have found that the facility is just as wonderful as I remember. The staff are all smiles and positivity. The pool itself is very well kept. Overall great culture and sense of community. I cant recommend this place enough!
My family really enjoys this place. We have 3 generations that use the facilities regularly. The sauna is great. Two hot tubs. Great pool. Family swim times 5 days a week.
Its a great place for families. Fitness area is okay. Pool hours are hard if you work a normal 9-5. But its a great neighborhood spot.
Best place in the world. Homey, super clean, popcorn available on week days. Outdoor hot tubs and sauna. Track and playground adjacent to pool. Affordable. Small, but adequate gym, exercise and dance classes available. Huge old fir trees.
Love this place the staff are nice, friendly, and helpfulThe programs cover all ages from 2 years old to 100 years old and you cant beat their prices
Really atrocious employees and customer service. Was incredibly rude to two different elderly patrons while I was sitting in lobby on bench, then loudly complained as they walked away I hate peopleTerrible environment for adults, let alone for me to bring a child in here.Once I got in the pool it was fun and the employees in there were nice. Maybe not a good day for the guy at the desk.
Always treated with great respect. As a woman of color, that sometimes is the the case in other similar service providers. I feel very comfortable taking advantage of any of the many programs River Road Park & Recreation Community Center has to offer.
Nice little indoor pool with 2 spas in back. The price is pretty reasonable, and staff are friendly & accommodating.
River Road Park does so many great things for the community. Free lunch served week days over the summer at Emerald Park. Musician Sufjan Stevens learned how to swim at the pools here.
Great staff great pool and nice exercise area
Always interesting people in the super clean and perfectly hot hottubs. Best warmest place around.
Enjoy classes at the park and annex.
So cheap! 3.25 for in district users to use the pool and hot tub and sauna! Paid for by local taxpayers! This is a great resource
Great place for adults to chill by the tubs and you can see your kids from the area as they swim in the kids area. My son had alot of fun there with new friends.
We like river road parks and rec alot better than the regular city parks and rec. My son takes swimming lessons and is enrolled in the play school (pre-preschool) program. The people are super nice and extremely accommodating. The additional charge for living out of district is small, and definitely worth it.
Great place for a swim and a hot tub. Nice to see so many people using it.
Excellent pool, gym, and staff! A hidden community gem!
Love the wave pool, great for little kids and babies! Free if in District, something like 1.50$ if not.
I see that there arent any current reviews for River Road Park and Rec, so I guess I need to add one.My family and I live in the parks in district area. We have lived here for 18 years. When we bought the property, we had to annex it into the city of Eugene. We did NOT have any choice in this matter. At the time, it was just another annoying step in the buying process. For many years, maybe 10 or 12, we used to use the park all the time; we went swimming there, sat in the hot tub, took classes there, my kids took swimming lessons nearly every year, we even had a yearly gym membership there a couple times. We were pretty regular customers.AND THEN, the City of Eugene decided to stop giving money to River Road Park and Rec, and River Road Park and Rec decided to PUNISH those of us who have had the unfortunate experience of being forced to annex into the city. The park said we were no longer In District, and now we have to pay Out of District fees if we want to use the park facilities.Since these fees are a lot higher than we had paid In District and sometimes DOUBLE the price, we just stopped using the park at all.I would have to say at this point in time, that the park has lost a few thousand dollars in revenue from my family alone. Im sure were not the only family that has stopped going to the park because of their policy of punishing those that are annexed into the city.Ive seen in the news that the park is struggling financially and considering merging into the cities parks (or something like that). All I can say is that maybe the park wouldnt be struggling so much if they had not alienated the families that clearly live inside their park boundaries and punished us for something we had no control over. Before that happened, we loved going to use the facilities at River Road Park and Recreation. We live close enough to walk there, but now Id rather go to a facility that really IS outside our area. If we are going to be charged for being Out of District, then we really might as well be.
Horrible experience! First time there and the man at the front desk was completely rude and threw my debit card at me and also did this to the elderly lady behind me. I will never come back to this place ever again!
For the price, gym is good. What they need is to spend some money buying a few heavier dumbbells and one more rack.
Great options for all ages, both outdoor and indoors. My kids and I love coming here and we never leave bored.
I love supporting my neighborhood center. Unfortunately the intense chlorine has ruined my bronchia. Now I have to drive all the way over to willamalane for reduced chlorine pool. Still come to the fitness center and am grateful that they host community events.
Wonderful, caring people who work hard to give everyone a positive experience.

Sufjan Stevens learned to swim here. Instructor could not pronounce his name, 4/5
Everyone that works here is amazing.
Sam ruined my experience there. She was acting very unprofessional and was yelling not only at other staff members but also patrons.
Love the staff and the hot tub
Worst pool staff, especially@front desk!
Great lap swimming pool.
