I called to check availability for an apartment I just seen online and was just posted. Marlyn answer the call and was very rude to me. She said the apartment was already rented. I explained that I just seen the ad and it said it was posted minutes ago. She said that taking down the ad wasn’t her problem and like she said before there’s no apartments available. She needs help con her customer service skills or needs to be replaced with someone who wants or needs the job more than her.

We lived in the Woodland Hills plan for almost 2 years. Neighbors were mostly great. Maintenance was great. We had problems with the accounting office the first month after they lost our first rent check and charged us a late fee (which they later removed) after never providing us with access to the online payment system that we were never informed of. It was a minor headache but it was ultimately resolved after several phone calls and emails with them and my bank to cancel the check. The move out process, however, was an absolute disaster. We were overcharged for our buy-out and the payment wasnt entered into their system until two months after we moved out. We requested to have them do a walk through before we submitted the keys because we were happy to paint or fix anything they spotted. They refused. They charged us several fees for damages - many of which were there when we moved in and confirmed by the previous tenants. After moving out, they informed us that we owed almost $300 (in addition to them keeping our $1,200 security deposit) and that we needed to pay within 30 days or theyd take it to a collection agency. Their calculations were incorrect and we disputed many of the charges. We called them several times a week and were consistently told that the person we needed to speak to had just left. We left voice messages and emailed them weekly only to receive one email response after a month that still did not address many of the questions and concerns we brought to them. We continued to try to contact them via email (which is how the move-out document says to contact them) and never got another response (to this day). We finally got someone on the phone over 2 months after moving out. She was polite, but said that she had been out of the office for a long time so she wasnt familiar with the issues regarding our move-out situation. Ultimately, THEY paid US over $700 which we did not receive until almost 3 months after moving out.If youre considering renting from them, record a video walking through the unit BEFORE signing the lease. Note every single issue regardless of how minor you think it is - small wall patch jobs you can barely see, furniture marks on the walls, which windows came with blinds in them... everything. We learned our lesson the hard way by not noting minor scratches in flooring which allowed them to blame us and charge us hundreds of dollars to repair them. We were even charged for cheap blinds that we had swapped with our own blinds. We left our blinds up AND the original blinds there in the box when we moved out. They trashed their own original blinds and then charged us $120 to replace and mount new $15 blinds. We were charged to repair bathroom flooring for a cigarette burn that was there when we moved in (we dont smoke). The previous tenant confirmed that the burn was there when they lived there as well. Theres even a general cleaning fee of over $200. As it was explained to me, anytime there is any painting or repair work done, they charge this flat fee to have someone clean the entire unit after the repair work. In our case, this was replacing some flooring - a few square feet. Being that you are also responsible for having the carpets professionally cleaned before you move out, that means the general cleaning would really just be running a vacuum over the bathroom floor. For $200+.Palermo refused to provide us with the walk-through video created for the previous tenant before we moved in which likely includes the burn and other damages we were ultimately charged for. So again, note absolutely everything in writing AND video before signing the lease. Or just rent from someone else.

Details:Unprofessional and rudeCheap materialsOver pricedDO NOT RENT FROM THEMMove to a Townhouse owned by them in 2018. Moved out in 2020 in Erie, PA. We started rent at 950 per month. Ended at 1100 per month. (For a 2 bed 1.5 bath and one car garage) the garage wasn’t even finished with paint.Move in day they made US DO OUR OWN EVAL of the rental.-make note of EVERYTHING AND TAKE PICS if you do move in!Look nice up one arrival. Carpet was cheap and had rips in it already. Thinnest carpet I’ve ever had in a rental. There was barely any cupboard space and storage space. AND instead of putting tiles in the bathroom like a normal bathroom, they put “waterproof” AQUA BLUE PAINT one the walls. Which awkwardly stains when soap gets on it.Right before move out, the property manager Erin messaged us several time asking if we would be staying. I responded saying “we are not sure we are waiting on a job response”. She did not reply. However she TOLD OUR COWORKERS (they were mutual friends) THAT WE WERE MOVING BEFORE WE DID! I Told her that in CONFIDENCE thinking she legally couldn’t say anything! (May not be illegal but it’s still NOT OKAY.)Up on move out they want you to paint and get carpet professional cleaned! We got carpenter cleaned and they ended up charging us to replace the carpets anyways because of this rips that were already there! Charged us $500+ to paint 3 rooms! They put laminate on the floor instead of real tile and charge us the price of tile to replace it! And took our entire deposit and made us owe $300 or they would send to us to collections. We took care of the apartment. We did not smoke and we filled all holes we made.

We rent a house in glen eagle estates and pay over 1375 a month, they won’t update or fix anything in a timely manner. Everything is a wait. The maintenance team told us they are only allowed to work till noon. Just a list of issues, bird fecal matter pouring in garage, couldn’t stay there for 3 days and yep have to pay full rent, garage door only works 1/4 of the time, ceiling fan needs replaced don’t work, man door in garage that goes in house won’t shut or lock properly, closet door won’t close, faucet in kitchen leaks, bathrooms need major updating due to old and flaking paint/moldy. Big huge ants coming in house everywhere and for everyone in the community. Took 4 months for stove replacement due to leaking gas. Water tank blew and wanted us to wait 3 days but the maint manager did respond in 2 days so that’s a plus. Not a good establishment to rent from for the cost. Due to the fecal matter from wild birds the furnace and filter needs cleaned and they don’t have they hours to do it since they only allowed to work till noon as per the maintenance associate. Rethink if you plan on renting here. We didn’t like to give this review but we think customers need to know what they are getting into. This is just the beginning.

I will be surprised if they even respond or care to look at these reviews. Where do I start? Just don’t rent with them. They are very rude and customer service is poor. They act like they are doing you a favor when you talk to them. When requesting maintenance, they give you a run around town. I wish I read the reviews before I moved in. By the looks of those reviews, I’ll probably have more headaches when it is time to have a talk about the security deposit. Just don’t rent here .

Wouldnt recommend. For what we paid in rent every month, we had very little. Almost no storage. Move out procedures had no structure, it was done on our own, then we get a bill for over $300 in damages after deducting our deposit for a long list of items that were wrong before we ever moved in, leaving us with nothing in return. But dont worry, the carpets are clean, at our own expense, which they replaced anyway. Use this review as you will, I wont ever live in Erie again in the first place but if I did, I would not be using Palermo.

I’d give zero stars if it were an option. There are some pro’s: it’s a nice area. Good school district, within 5 minutes of the highway and 10-15 minutes of downtown Erie. We lived on Kate’s way in Brookwood village. Something we didn’t notice during our walk through was the carpet had no padding underneath it. There was no way to quietly walk through the place. Sound proofing between the units was poor at best. You can easily hear foot steps, conversations, kids playing/crying from your neighbors. The pool was never cared for, I’d rather swim in the lake. Appliances were outdated. Shortly after we moved in, our roof started leaking. Now you’d think this is something they would want to fix rather quickly...nope. The roof leaked for SIX MONTHS! That’s right, the roof in our “luxury” townhouse leaked for six months with not as much as a penny taken off our monthly rent. On top of that, there was a rodent issue. The place was crawling with mice. When we moved out we left the place spotless, yet somehow they still managed to only give us 10% of our security deposit back. If you enjoy eavesdropping on neighbors conversations, rain inside your home, mice everywhere, and forfeiting 90% of a security deposit, then this is the place for you. Otherwise...steer clear of Palermo Realty, don’t make the same mistake we did. These people are crooks.

They have a variety of criminals living in their apartments, stolen property, domestics, be very wary of your neighbors if you rent with them. After leaving here, I did my own research and a number of the people living next to me had a lengthy list of felony’s. Not a safe place for a family. I do not believe they run any sort of background check. I will be reporting them to the BBB as well as to Millcreek’s code enforcement It is not safe to live here. On another note, had a gas leak the entire time I lived here. They shouldn’t be doing their own plumbing/ hvac work.

Do Not Recommend - Initial agreement and SECURITY DEPOSIT.Initial Agreement:Initially they told me to give a 100 dollar discount which I had written in my email while talking with the agent. but when I moved out from my old apartment and went to get the keys and sign the lease. They said they cant give me this discount as thats their final decision. I had no other option other than move in with extra 100 bucks per month. so very bad experience from the day 1 with the property manager Fred, it was his last day with joe palermo as he told me.Security deposit:Dont be surprised to know they charge me 2400 dollars when I move out.I have rented many times in Erie and always received 60-70% of my security deposit. I had a security deposit of 1200 and they asked me for more 1200 dollars and it sent it to collections and then finally I paid if every thing. They charged around 350 dollars to repaint the apartment, 100 $ each for every door they paint. 100 dollars for the garage cleaning, carpet cleaning, closet paint, etc etc etc. Each of their work cost me more than 80 dollars each and think of how it becomes 2400 dollars. Not sure what kind of professional services they did after I moved out on this apartment and believe me i have lived the same way in all other apartments. My neighbor gave me hint of their style of taking whole security deposit but didnt think they can ask for extra 1200 dollars which I paid.Snow Plough service is very bad as well. my 2 years of stay during snow was pathetic, could not take my car out on the public road, always got struck in their private property. If you wanna pay all the things/security deposit and no services, then you can rent it or better go for others which are very good in all ways.god bless all!

My boyfriend and I just moved out of a place on the millionaires row and let me tell you, worst apartment Ive ever lived in. Its not one of their nice new buildings and they clearly dont care about keeping up with the maintenance of their older buildings, which I get it theyre old so there will be some issues but they should still try and keep up with them and update things. Anyway, where do I begin with the complaints, lets start with when we first moved in last year. Not even a week after we moved in my car was hit in the parking lot and not hit and just dented, oh this guy completely ripped off my bumper and left no contact or insurance info. Nice. Later found out the person who had hit my car wasnt someone who lived in the building but someone who frequently stopped by to buy DRUGS from someone who did. Thats nice I live in a building with a drug dealer. So clearly they dont give a crap what kind of people they rent to. Next, the apartment was disgusting when we moved in. We had to pay a $300 pet fee for our cat who has never damaged or destroyed anything ever but even if she had they wouldnt have even noticed because thats how gross the place was. The carpet had stains and burn holes in it from the previous tenants. Gross. The shower had no knob on it and the water pressure/ temp was all over the place. One second it would be ice cold the next scalding hot and then youd loose pressure completely. Pieces of wood from the doors were falling off, there was no fan in the bathroom so mold grew on the ceiling because there was not ventilation to get the steam out, there were mice, we had no control over the heat from the radiators and it would get ungodly hot and we couldnt do a thing about it. Ill admit, my rent was cheap but we certainly paid for what we got. I actually dont even think that place was worth what we paid for it. We ended up paying our last months rent and moved out two weeks early because we couldnt stand it anymore, Ive heard that its pretty much impossible to get back your security deposit from them so im expecting I wont be getting it back. I wouldnt recommend renting from them, at least not one of their older buildings.

Stay away from them. I was the first one who moved in the Copperleaf townhome, and they advertised things that were not even built. As I moved from other state, I had to rely on the description about the property such as business center, pool, etc. The day of my arrival, it was two buildings in the construction zone, and I had to stay a few more days as they could not finish my unit yet. Their apartment manager told me that amenities (pool, gym, business center) will be built around January or February, but they did not even start to build the Instead what I had was the construction noise (from the third building that is being built), muddy puddles at the dumbster and random construction workers wandering around my house. Now I purchased my home and happily stepped out of the contract after paying a buy-out fee (2 month rent), I strongly recommend you to stay way from them.

Palermo Realty,I have been a resident of your community for 16 months now and for 14 months I have had problem after problem that seems to never be properly corrected.I have bees; they will go away when it gets cold. Never fixed.I have no power; are you sure? We will look at it. We will replace the faulty item(s). Never happened. But all my light bulbs were changed just to be sure.I have snow coming in my bedroom; we cant fix it until we get parts.I have a broken window; we will look at it. We will look at it. We will fix it when it gets warmer. We will look at it.The carpet is mix matched and coming up where they meet; TAPE!I have a broken faucet; amazingly repaired three times, but still not working properly.I am surely not happy with the service, or lack of service, received from the repair/maintenance team of this company. So I sit on my sofa at 130am typing an email with faucets running in each bathroom and kitchen, with a light breeze coming though my bedroom door, with faulty electrical circuits in my bathroom. Why, because there is water dripping on my bed from the broken window. The window I was told cant be replaced because its cold outside. But its just as cold in my bedroom broken door and window allowing the elements inside. The window I was told in Autumn needed to be replaced because there was no seal. The window that has a broken glass on the outside. The window that has icicles forming on the inside. The window that is severely leaking and on the verge of falling out. When someone from this company who cares enough wakes up from their dry, warm and peaceful night of sleep, please call me.

BEWARE. I have rented many times in my life and I have always received my entire security deposit. They charged me $320 to repaint the apartment due to the most miniscule and petty scuffs that were not visible without a magnifying glass. I was appalled as I have no children or pets and basically only slept there. There was no disruption to the paint (not a scratch) nor the underlying drywall. I protested in writing that if anything this would be characterized as normal wear and tear but refused to refund me.Secondly, it was very difficult to get in and out of the parking lot during 2017-2018 winter. They only plowed twice.I obviously do not recommend Palermo reality due to their shady business practices of weaseling/nickel and diming tenants out of their security deposit.

Management is incredibly poor. Snow removal was always delayed and required inquiry. Palermo kept a significant portion of my security deposit when no damage was present beyond normal wear and tear. They were unable to produce still images of the disputes. Rather, they sent me a link to a youtube video that was a blur and included minor damages initially reported on move in that were never corrected. I spoke with several other prior tenants and this is a common problem. My advice is to avoid dealing with this company at all costs.

Not worth the headache...I have lived in a nice townhome development built and maintained by Palermo for 8 months now.For 7 of those 8 months, I have been TRYING to get them to repair loose tiles and grout in the kitchen area without any luck. I have called at least 10 times and have been promised resolution during every call. As early as a month ago I called and the woman on the phone told me that the maintenance request was completed and closed out in the system. That was news to my ears because the grout was still crumbling and tiles breaking.I called the maintenance manager this morning and complained yet again because they had a subcontractor scheduled to come in last monday that didnt show up and nobody had the courtesy to call and let me know the status and he said he would call me back when he contacted them.I then went on to say that I would fix the tiles and the grout and subtract the total bill from my rent like what is done in most slumlord situations and he said thats not how rental contracts work.Well bubba, rental agreements work both ways: I PAY YOUR COMPANY TO MAINTAIN THE HOUSE IN WHICH I AM RENTING. MY MONEY = YOUR ATTENTIVENESS!Very angry about this issue. Shouldve been completed 6 months ago, still waiting.I wouldnt rent or buy from these people again, although the houses overall are nice and a good location over here off of East 38th.I think they treat $1265/month rentals like they do $300/month rentals.I am going to take my $15,180 / year to a company who at least calls it rain when they piss on your head.

Kept calling about the problem and got the floor cleaned 7 MONTHS LATER!! Walls and baseboards covered in a inch of salt!! Never taken care of! Poor construction on their part! Pipes froze in garage on a regular basis and could not use our washer until it thawed in the Spring as well! Summer finally comes and our air conditioning does not work. It took them a month to send someone to fix it even after we explained that our son has terrible allergies and was suffering from nose bleeds. Our fireplace never worked from the time we moved in until the time we left! This was just a small part of the experience my family had with Palermo and as you can see it was not a good one!!! 👎👎👎
