The pickup driver for our curbside can SLAMMED. It back to the ground breaking off the wheels.I called for service on a Tuesday and they said theyd be out in 2 days on Thursday to deliver a replacement.Now its Thursday and no replacement...they replied they dont service our area on Thursday and now theyre supposed to be here on Monday. WTH!Told me to just put my garbage in the broken trash bin.
Terrible service overall. Driver is supposed to pick up weekly trash on Friday mornings. Often times driver does not fully empty container. Trash is never even packed down. Came home from work with a full trash container on Friday and called to see what the problem was. Customer service said they were here and that theyd send the info to the supervisor and call me back. They never called me back so I called and left a message Saturday that someone needs to come get my trash since I pay for these services. It is now Monday evening and no call back and still have a full trash container of smelly rotten trash out by the road. Completely incompetent and disfunctional company. Terminating service and will never use again.
This company lacks total common sense. The drivers are lazy at least the old blonde hair guy. I guess it is too much to ask to push the button to dump our trash. He drove right by as I yell to get his attention. The holiday schedule obviously was not clearly communicated to the city residents because there are full trash bins in our neighborhood.
They didn’t pick up trash for all customers on our street Monday. They said they couldn’t come back out until Thursday. They couldn’t get a hold of the driver.

Only giving them a 1 star because -5 isn’t an option. A very literal garbage company and not just because they pick up trash. Terrible customer service, misleading information on the website and refusal to pickup large furniture as agreed upon by the contract. Absolute trash company and I mean that literally and figuratively.
Great service until they gave up on us due to a line drop problem that obstructed our driveway. They stopped servicing us but was still charging us. Mom went into a nursing home and dad passed. I made several attempts to get them out to dump now that my mom is home, but they chose to come take the bin instead of making arrangements to dump since we had the line drop fixed. Before this I offered and had reached an agreement to make a FULL payment but the driver cancelled the dump and instead took the bin after being VERY unprofessional with me over the phone about cancelling a verbal agreement between me and his superior.
Horrible customer service! They would not take my recycle, because it wasn’t in one of their bins. When the company I previously used was bought out by Borden they told me I could use either bin for recycle! I called within 10 minutes of the recycle truck picking up recycle and asked a supervisor after a customer service person was very rude with me see if maybe they could swing back around on my street and pick it up the supervisor said no! He told me to put it out with my trash next week and they would take it as trash. I guess so much for trying to be green and do the right thing by recycling, not to mention very rude on the phone!
Horrible service/driver and absolutely NO customer service. Our driver just decides to never pick our trash up so we call and they basically ask him why so the next week he comes around we get backlash and he throws our extra bin in the yard and leaves their bin laying in the road. This happened MULTIPLE times - they do nothing about it. We pay our bill, this isn’t a complex thing!
Our recycling bin was full of cardboard. They come every other Friday to empty it.We have only been living here for 2 months now and 2/3 of the times they dont even empty the container.It appears that they turn it over and if it doesnt fall out quick enough then oh well....Bad service.
Ive used Borden for 11 years now, and I was pretty disappointed last week to learn that they were charging me $15 more per month than my neighbors. My bill has steadily increased over the last few years, so I figured it was worth asking my neighbor who just moved in a couple years ago what they pay. To their credit, Borden adjusted my invoice to what my neighbor is paying, but honestly, I feel like I should get a big credit for the overcharge Ive received over the last year or two. It feels kind of sneaky and is basically what Comcast does - it drives me nuts. Like you have to watch them, or theyll pull one over on you.Moral of the story: Check what your neighbors are paying and make sure you arent getting shafted!
I started a service with them on a Monday and they said my trash cans are gonna be there Friday. Guess what its Tuesday the week after still havent gotten my dam trash cans
I recently sold my home while under Bordens contract. The home owner was supposed to transfer service but never did. Borden charged me the 100$ bin fee for a non-return. When given the permission to retrieve their bin from the side of the house, they stated they can not go onto the property. I have personally witnessed 3 accounts in which the service men hauled items for me off my property and not solely at the curb. Their suggestion was for me to trespass and put it at the end of the curb for retrieval. On top of this, even though my credit card was on file and automatic payments were setup, the final invoice was not automatically debited and incurred finance charges. The customer service rep would not waive the charges. Bordens customer service is right up there with comcast/xfinity and as such a company to be avoided. Spend a little more and go with waste management.
HAVE HAD SERVICE WITH THEM FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD EXCELLENT PICK-UP SERVICE EVERY WEEK NEVER HAVE HAD ANY BAD SERVICE PROBLEMS OF ANY KIND ALSO IN ALL THIS TIME OF SERVICE
Had a box full of styrofoam sitting next to my garbage can. The recycling driver showed up first for pick up today. Since they dont take styrofoam, they just dumped it out all over my landscaping, and took the box! I mean seriously? Could have just left it for the garbage driver. I called to complain, and received a sorry. Thanks Borden, time to talk to your employees
Different charge every month. Customer service is very rude and will just end the call if you state problems that need addressed. I give a 3 because they were reliable with pick up.Thats the only saving grace for this company.They are also more expensive than other services.

They are very unprofessional and not helpful. I asked if I can get another garbage can because the one I have got damage by them and they said they would come and repair it on May 22 20, I left my can by the front of the house and apparently they didnt go fix it because it was not by the curve a few feet away, the rep didnt bother to tell me where it needed to be and now they said it would be until May 29th and since was a holiday that it could be May 30th a Saturday, as of 5pm my can is not fixed and once again will have to wait to call them on Monday and see what excuse they give me, who knows. So how is that Professionalism and Reliability. Not very happy with them.
Our recycling was skipped 2 out of three pick-ups. We have a new construction home and were the only house on our side of the street. I believe the driver didnt care to make another trip around the block. I dont have time to chase down a service provider twice a month.
We did not have our garbage picked up 2 of 3 weeks in April. Called to report the problem and the female who answered our call was rude and argued with us, pretty much insinuating that we were lying. Then proceeded to hang up on us. Switching service.
Great, dependable service. Office people have been timely with correspondence. The sales rep even came out to discuss our businesses needs and offer solutions on request after I had questions about an emailed quote. Cant speak to the quality of their residential service; but, highly recommended for business customers.
Very poor business practices. Borden raised our residential waste fees twice in the past year, without notice. Over a $7 monthly increase with absolutely no explanation whatsoever. We cancelled our service at the end of October, after already paying the raised fee for November. No refund came. In following up, we were told we are being charged a $25 cart removal fee, and were all square. Talk about adding gross insult to injury.
Our trash can got smashed last week in pickup. I called this morning to report it. The woman that answered was so sweet and polite. It took her less than a minute to look it up and tell me that the driver had already reported it and a new one would be here tomorrow.I have always found them to be courteous and respectful.
I have never had problems with Borden s in the past. Today, however, I am astounded by the utter lack of customer service. Christmas was on our pick up day, so service was bumped to the next day. I understand that the drivers are under pressure to make up the day off. They are hurrying and mistakes happen. The driver picked up trash on both sides of my street and from the neighbors on either side and left mine. A call to customer service was a waste of time. The supervisor refused to send someone. So now my trash -which is full to the max -will gave to wait another week. Not because I failed to have it out on time and in the proper location, but due to their error. And they refuse to make it right.Extremely disappointing. I thought this was a SERVICE industry. Since I live in the city, I guess Ill take it up with my councilperson.
Borden Waste is my new trash service after my old service sold out. When I stopped in to get information Dawn was amazing. She took time from her lunch to answer every question I had. If the rest of my experience will be like it was with Dawn I’ll be very satisfied.
Had a recent billing issue, called Borden to sort it out and they were so friendly! Billing problem was solved quickly and painlessly. Every time I call there is excellent customer service.
Terrible service. Due to bad weather Borden decided not to pick up for two consecutive days. Now I do agree that the weather was too bad to be driving in. The problem is that they didnt resume their schedule on the third day but just decided to forget about the people that werent served, telling all of us that we would just have to wait until our next scheduled pick up. That is two full weeks of trash that we all were just supposed to sit on. I called customer service and was told to just pile it outside. Not living in a trash pit precluded this as an option for me, so I asked to speak to a manager and was promptly directed into vmail. I left a message asking for a return call that never came. So I decided to stop in and speak to the manager personally. After politely explaining that our household couldnt store two weeks of garbage the manager told me that according to DOT rules their drivers couldnt work on Saturday to service the skipped customers because that would put them over the 60 hour limit. When I pointed out the fact that the drivers would be missing the hours from the two days they werent on the road from the bad weather all I got was the deer in the headlights look. So frustrated in this company and their lack of concern for their customers.
We move to South Bend 3 years ago. I looked for a trash company and found the usual BIG company that most people use around here. Their prices were inexpensive, I was pleased and I signed up immediately. Much to my dismay, they did not deliver us trash cans like they were supposed to do right away, ignored our trash cans for two months- even though they had taken my payment immediately and up were also picking up all the neighbors trash.Finally, I gave up waiting for the big trash company to come pick up our trash. I contacted BORDEN WASTE AWAY SERVICE and told them that I wanted to join their service if only I could pay the lower fee like the big company was charging. They almost immediately agreed to accept the lower price! Ive been with Borden for years now and I couldnt be happier with their service and the price :-) THANK YOU, BORDEN for 10 for being a reliable smaller company who meets the needs of your customers! :)
Terrible customer service!Aside from their recent price increases well above the other local competitor they damaged and hauled away our trash container and never bothered to replace it!After contacting them they acknowledged the driver destroyed the container and said it would be another week before they would replace it.These people could care less about service after they get your money, look elsewhere!!!
Im frankly surprised that their rating on Google is so low. Any time that we have had any sort of issue,all I have to do is call and they make sure its made right. Even once, when I made a mistake, they helped me out and they didnt have to. And theyre always friendly on the phone too!
We have been using them for over 4 years. Theyre a good service to use. My only complaint is the fact they cant seem to fix their drivers slamming cans down and breaking wheels off, sending them flying through the air. Its painfully slow dealing with their customer service so I demanded extra wheels if they wanted us to continue using them, which they did give us.

For the 3rd time in a year our carts were thrown into our ditch. I was home today and watched it. Our carts our by the street with a 6 ft ditch behind them. He picks up the garbage and they fall down the ditch (both of them) and that’s where he leaves them. I’ve had enough and that was the last straw. I’ve even tried to order a 20 yard dumpster in which they wouldn’t bring to my resident because it was out of their limits. Our garbage service isn’t though? Strange. There has been times when they simply “forgot” to pick up our trash too. Done. So done.
They are very friendly, on time and quick, even on large item pickups. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Them! Much, much better than Michiana (who we had previously) Driver even helped me get cart out of the snow.
Bad customer service. Unprofessional drivers!! Dropped a can full of yard waste in front of my driveway and left it there. When I called to complain they said they left it because it was too heavy. I was easily able to pick the can up myself (brought it out to the road also) and they claim its too heavy to lift? I also had to break out my shovel to clean the road. Their solution was I need to divide it up into two cans. BS. Do your damn job. Back to Waste Management I go!
Dont expect them to pick up trash on the right day. If you forget one week. There is no credit but if you put an extra garbage can they will charge 5$ bout to call another trash company.
I have never had an issue with Borden. They took over The Garbage Company and I have been with them since. The driver is prompt every Monday a.m. on pick ups and they have never increased my rates. Much more reliable than Michiana Recycling that I had previously!
I think the best thing about a trash company is that they pick it up when they say they are going to. I can always trust my trash will be picked up on time. Whenever I have talked to CS they seem very pleasant and get my request taken care of.
Borden locks you into a three-year commitment that automatically rolls over unless you opt out of their service. Even though it is stated on the back of the service agreement, there is no notification that the time is near to end the current commitment or begin a new one. Shady business practice! Then when I called to question a rate increase, I asked about the commitment and was told to have a nice day and was hung-up on.
Borden; $24 a month for regular residential trash pickup and an extra $2 for recycling which is only every other week.Michiana Waste; $19 a month for trash pickup and weekly recycling.Borden is costing more for less service. Great business model.
Poor customer service. Road was impassable because of two inches of snow, yet everyone on my road went to work and the mailman delivered the mail that day. Their solution was to make customers wait another week to pickup their trash and recycling....and where are customers supposed to store two weeks worth of trash?
My garbage pickup was totally missed last Monday. Today, my bin was only half emptied, leaving one large stinky bag of garbage leftover from the missed pickup last week. I called the office and was told the driver was “out of the area” so I get to keep the stinky bag for another week. 😡. After using Borden for 32 years, you would think I would get better service!
I was told by their customer service department that we can only have 1 trash can per a contract with where we live! I had a lot of trash this week (because we are clean and throw away things) and instead of taking all of our trash, they took an image of it and sent it to the company AND dumped some of it all over (and was too lazy to actually get out of their truck and do real work and pick up the rest)! So, I picked up the trash and sat it across the street since they had not picked up on that side yet, and when they pulled up, they were sitting there for a few minutes looking confused, instead of just dumping the cans, they dumped the neighbors can and wouldnt even touch mine! So, we cant have a second can from the company AND cant use our own cans (which I have), and they wont pick up our trash if its too much! Absolutely LAZY! WORST customer service!
Very frustrating. I had 2 bags of trash littered across my driveway and road.it was raining so the bags were ripped and trash was soaked and just all over the place.

For years had regular service, no complaints. In recent months they upgraded to trucks with a claw to pickup the garbage cans from the customers curb. Now the last 4 weeks they have been leaving my garbage can in the road, 6 away from where the can is set next to my mailbox, so the mailman cant get to my mailbox. I have contacted Borden 3 times, with pictures of where the can is left for them, where they leave it, and the problem it creates--Yet the message has not got through to them. On the 3rd time they did this since I filed my first complaint, they have yet to respond to my request for what their corrective action will be, other than Ill tell the driver supervisor. Theyve since did this a 4th time in as many weeks--Time for a new waste service! They get 1 star for their prior good service.
I have never had any troubles from Bordens. If the holiday falls on my pick up day they are always there the very next day. One day the wind had blown our bin over and they picked it all up...thank you.
Will not come by and pick up my recycling! Its been two weeks when I call I get the same answer. We will have to do it next week that is complete B.S. They are the worst service I have ever had. This is the 10th week in one year that they have not come by. They are not the cheapest place in town so please choose a different service.

Just got off the phone with a customer service rep, Dani, who seemed very unconcerned that when our trash was emptied this morning, half of it was dumped on the street. She implied that someone other than their company threw our trash in the street. Meanwhile, the recycling guy drove by, noticed the trssh in the street and tossed it back in the bin before my partner could take pictures of the trash left in the street. I appreciate the effort of the recycling fellow but am highly unimpressed with customer service.
Charges on bill that were not valid, when called out on it was told they would only remove part of the charges. Floors me that they feel like they can charge for services they did not perform. Told one thing and had complete opposite happen. I didnt even pick them, they bought out our old trash company. Wish we would have switched sooner

We had a real issue with this company till now! We did have a misunderstanding once about “extra” bags but that was resolved in a professional way. We watched the driver pick up the neighbors recycling, then pass out house and turn onto the next road! I called the office the person I spoke to was rude basically telling me I was wrong and that I didn’t see the driver pick up my neighbors recycle. Mind u both my husband and I saw him do this plus my neighbor was outside. She said she’d check with the dispatcher. He said his driver hadn’t been to my house/Street yet! Seriously? Well guess who came back to my house not even 5 minutes later?
Im getting ready to switch companies!! these people are so lazy! the guy honked his horn one day and told me (he didnt ask me) to make sure the trash can is at the end of the yard we have done that before and cars have hit the can before! so because i didnt put them at the end of the yard and they have to get out and grab them, last week they put my trash can directly behind my truck in the driveway, making me back into it when i went to leave, the next week they put it in the middle of my driveway, now to the left i have a huge ditch im not going to drive into and to the right i have a telephone pole...i had to get out of my car and move it in order to get into MY driveway. Sometimes they drop it at the neighbors house or just throw it down and it falls over, they dont care about their job AT ALL! this is probably the worst company i have ever had to deal with!

No recycling pickup again. They have more reason why they cant pickup your recycling. But they want our money each month.POOR, POOR QUALITY!!!
They do good at getting the trash, but today they through our trash bin so hard against our fence it broke it. This is so uncalled for. I want a new trash bin brought out to replace the one they broke. Some weeks we have more trash then others, and it does not mean they can throw our bin around because they are mad at the amount of trash we have.
Im not sure why the county went with this company other than Im sure cost. But because of snowfall last Friday they pulled all their trucks off the road and now are refusing to do a make up day causing many residents to have over flowing cans. Glad I could see our tax money paying for this.
Will not be renewing after 3 years. Had to write a check for $3 after paying for the year, once, for one additional bag of trash, replaced lid on trash instead of whole thing, when it had a hole in the actual trash container. Drivers are lazy, making me wait a whole week, because they saw water on road without barricade. Every other neighbor, trash company, bus and car could make it down our road. Borden you suck!

They seem to do their job well...except for the fact that my garbage and recycling can will most likely be flipped over on the ground with the lid in the middle of the street like they just kicked it out of the way.
