This dentist is awesome, fast service with virtually no wait time. The staff make you feel at home and comfortable. They explain everything and leave you having a smile. Excellent staff and dentist.

My son has Autism Spectrum. They handled him well and made him feel very comfortable. The whole staff from entering until exiting was outstanding!I highly recommend them!

Tender smiles did an amazing job with my 3 year old. The Hygienist Luna was a miracle worker she made him so comfortable I was amazed at how cooperative he was with her during his cleaning and exam. She made that possible by being gentle and patient. The Dentist was also very knowledgable and friendly. I definitely recommend them. P.S I am very picky when it comes to medical facilities, they were very clean.

Tender Smiles at Edison is a decent average dental office. Doctors and personnel is friendly. But the office is dirty. Their waiting area is unacceptable dirty for a medical office. It also seems that the office small for the number of is patients they are receiving. they don’t care about the office cleanliness because they still have patients coming. We stopped going there.

I was amazed! I arrived couple of minutes to my appointment, though the office was filled up with limited seating. I was concern the wait was going to be an hour but to my great surprise, I stayed in the lobby for few minutes and within two to three minutes I was seen. This made me a very, very happy customer, as a first time. The cleaning was quick.Thank you, I hope this continues.

Horrible experience staff and Doctor lacked manners empathy and respect they were not welcoming and the place was over crowded many people claiming to have the sameAppointment time... after a wait I met with the doctor for a mere 2 min before she said u can wait in the car we will put the kid to sleep and let u know when were done ABSOLUTELY NOT! This place is awesome! Very clean and organized with appointments. We completed all forms online and it was just great because everything was smooth and fast. The place was not packed which made us feel secure. They are following all regulations for covid. It made us feel safe knowing that they were taking temperature to everyone as soon as you check in. My daughters were super grateful with everyone there. The best dentist place we have visited in year for kids.

Tender Smiles in Edison is an excellent facility. Everyone is great! Dr. L always checks in with me to make sure I don’t have any unanswered questions. They are very flexible with their scheduling and payments and their front desk staff are always so kind and helpful. :)

Love bringing my son to have his treatment for braces at this office. The new Dr is great. She always communicates all work to be done in a very courteous manner. The staff is super friendly and very professional. The office is super clean and everyone follows covid protocol.

Tender Smiles comes to my kids school and that’s how I found them. Yesterday was their first visit to the actually office. My twins are on the spectrum and very anxious especially of doctors and dentists. The staff was very considerate and patient with my children and their special needs. They made their first office visit a pleasant experience and not a horrific one that would affect any future visits for the rest of their lives.

These people are so nice they make my kids happy and confident all the time. I like their team work and I love the doctor 😍

For a place that specializes in children, they were awful. They were not prepared to deal with a child who suffers with anxiety. The minute my child became upset it seemed as if the staff was annoyed (including the dentist her self) by her behavior. Their plan was to try and bribe her to take the medication instead to trying to help her through her fear. I will not be bringing her back.

This was my first time visiting this office. I made the appointment last night and got a text to fill out the paper work. When I arrived I didnt have to fill out anything else I just waited shortly for my 2 year to be called to the back. The hygienist did a great job explaining what she was doing next and keeping my baby comfortable the whole time. The dentist was quick and to the point. The overall visit was perfect, I would recommend Tender Smiles in Edison to everyone.

I didn’t like how I was not able to sit in the exam room with either of my daughters while getting fillings done I understand because of covid and everything but they should have at least been accommodating due to them being 3 and 4 and this was their first time ever having work done in a dentist office. Especially when both of them were screaming their heads off. Something like this is extremely traumatizing for small children.

It was an awesome experience to be in this clinic! Although there’s a waiting time but it didn’t take awhile compared to other dental clinics I went before! The staffs were very kind and caring to the children! I loved how neat the place and child-friendly! I give 4 stars since the place isnt too big for parents to move around! The chairs due to social distancing were limited and my husband had to be out since its fully occupied😓

Friendly office staff and dental hygienists. However, we found the dentist to be rude and condescending. It is a very busy office so I’m sure she was ok with losing a patient, but I had a much better experience with another dentist (KidzDent in Old Bridge) shortly after.It is simply more logical to pair a dentist visit with a comfortable experience rather than holding a child down until they comply. Subjective opinion, but I would not recommend for young children.

Update: I have gone back to the office since my previous review and I was very pleased with the services provided. Dr. Liya was very understanding and allowed me to express my concerns about my previous visit. She was very open and transparent with me about the way they operate. I really felt seen and heard and I will continue to see Dr. Liya until I am able to find an adult dentist that accepts my insurance.I have been going to Tender Smiles for years and have continued to see them while looking for an adult dentist as I am now over the age of 18. The office staff is very rude every time I come in and they’re always confused when I tell them that I am the one having dental work done and that I don’t have a child. Aside from that, I recently had a cavity filled and the staff was very rough with me. They were dropping their tools onto my chest when not in use instead of putting them back where they belong, and the entire time they were talking badly about another patient and their parents. Not only that, but I have been left with unbearable nerve pain on the entire lower half of my mouth and it has been well over a week since my visit. I have been to the North Brunswick location before and the staff is lovely there. I was hoping for the same treatment here in Edison since it is closer to where I live. I cannot recommend this location.

I have been taking my kids to Dr. Liya Ostrow at Tender Smiles 4 Kids for years and have the utmost respect and trust for her and the staff. Dr. Liya always has my kids best interest in mind, she thinks 10 steps ahead to prevent and reduce dental procedures in the future, and always presents multiple options - carefully outlining pros and cons. Due to preventive dental measures, I have avoided jaw surgery with my son, overcrowding with my daughter and completely eliminated orthodontic work with my youngest daughter. My kids love going to Tender Smiles 4 kids and have great teeth due to caring doctor and staff. I would highly recommend Dr. Liya Ostrow and Dr. Max Sulla.

I didnt wait long and the systems are all online which nade my visits so efficient. No need to sit down and waste 40min filling paperwork or getting cards to remember your appointments. Today was my granddaughters first visit she was nervous and the dental hygienist named Denise was so kind and very caring. She is really good at working with young children. I would have wanted to meet the dentist because they took xrays and Denise came back and explained what the dentist told her from the xrays. Im not really sure why the dentist wouldnt come to introduce herself to us if she was there. The office staff were very friendly.

Very timely (in and out in 20 mins) and kid friendly! My 3 year old was so happy at this dentist office. Ms. Luna is awesome! All four stars r for her. I loved how she fully involved him in *his* appointment and focused on him as the patient even at his age and I could simply watch (or clarify if she didnt understand what he said.😅)Im sure dr. Liya is a great dentist but her part in the visit was so very minimal and almost robotic I cant really comment. Thats y 4stars.But everything else was great.

They both just answered all my questions, concerns and put me at easy. I’ve never had a problem before. Also I’m sorry I don’t know her name (I’m bad with names) the tech who took care of my daughter today also put me at easy and spoke to me and explained all my questions and I am very MUCH THANKFUL!!!

We went today, 1/2/20, and they were very busy. Still, the staff and doctors were very quick and efficient, and they were very nice, patient, and accommodating. My son had several cavities and, despite being busy, they squeezed in a couple of fillings. Ive never had anything bad to say about this or the Freehold location. We will continue to work with TS when we get my son braces. Also, very important, they do liquid sedation for the kids and that isnt available with every pediatric dentist. This is why we began taking my son to their practice, because of this anesthesia option. We are happy with their service and grateful.

They are good,but good luck getting an appointment fast after rescheduling.I had to reschedule my daughters appointment in November and she has some work to be done, they rescheduled her until MARCH !! welp wont be going back.

Very disappointed that they took children that came after us before us and we got to sit here and be last. When I asked the lady at the desk I was told we were next and that there are 4 providers today. Not that that matters any to me. Of course we are next we are the last people here. The office is just ok. Will be leaving to follow Dr. Kathy to her new location since she is outstanding! The way they fired her and treated her was completely unprofessional. Im sure this spills over into other aspects of their office practice. Dr. Kathy Hargaden is outstanding and all 3 of my kids love her. Not only do their teeth look amazing, she corrected problems that were more than just cosmetic. If youre looking for an outstanding orthodontist, follow Dr. Kathy to her new location! You wont be disappointed.

My first time bringing my son Aiden into this office. Dr. Liya Ostrow & Denise were beyond knowledgeable & friendly. This was my sons first time at the dentist which I expected it to be a lot worse then it was. Denise was very patient with him & talked to him to calm him down. As a mother I loved that. As for Dr. Liya Ostrow wow! Loved her so much. She was very thorough with her exam. My son wound up having a cavity so she gave us some tips on what he shouldnt be eating due to this cavity & for future.I definitely recommend this office! Thank you everyone.

Nice facility with caring staff.

Dr Liya has been my older daughters dentist for 9 years and my youngest daughters for 6 years. Before we found Dr Liya my oldest was going to another dentist and unknown to me he was filling her cavity’s that were infected without giving meds so my daughter at three was in so much pain and her face was swollen. Also she was very afraid of dentists bc of this experience. The very first time we went to Dr Liya her calming spirit and voice was a relief to myself and my daughter. My daughter feel in love with Dr Liya. Her and her staff were so understanding about my daughters fears and worked patiently with us to eventually have her over come them. Dr Liya saw how bad my daughters mouth was and immediately took over. She even saw her three days later on Christmas Eve. My daughter needed more work done but had to go to the hospital for it and be put to sleep. This was a first for me and my daughter. As nervous as I was I knew that my daughter was safe in her hands. Dr Liya has continued to show the same patience and caring with my youngest as well. They both love seeing Dr Liya and know they can trust her with anything.My oldest is now seeing Dr Gong as well for her braces and we are very happy with her as well. I knew that I could trust Dr Gong because Dr Liya gave me her word and took her on into her group.I will forever be grateful for meeting Dr Liya and for all that she does and continues to do for my family. I truly feel that she treats my children like her own. I would highly recommend her and her group to anyone.

The last time I was here was extremely unpleasant and unprofessional. I came in to the office to have a extraction of two teeth. I went into the room and they gave me Anesthetic to numb the area but didn’t wait long enough for it to work and stared anyway. then once they pulled out the two teeth they proceeded to pull out four more teeth last minute, and while all that was going on the response to my screams and cry’s was “be quit” “the pain isn’t real” “shhh, calm down”This experience traumatized me for a very long time, I will never be returning here again. I am also very disappointed about the way the staff treated me and my family.

I cant give this place enough stars. We have been taking my son twice a year for the past two years. Every single time, from the moment I walk in the door to the moment I leave, the staff is welcoming, friendly, professional and helpful. The dental assistants and dentist are so careful and good with kids, tried their hardest to make my son comfortable. They were easy-going and patient when he started to cry and fuss and ultimately talked him through it to the point we he could be comfortable. I appreciate that so much. I am glad this place is so close to where I live and accepts my insurance. If you look at any of the negative reviews for this place, theyre obviously written by people out of spite for things not their fault. (I.E., I was 20 minutes late they cancelled my appointment, my adult son doesnt understand insurance and now he has to pay money, etc.) I constantly recommend my family and friends with young children to go here for pediatric dental care. Its really the best.

Eileen Santa Maria - I went to see Dr. Kathy on 2/5 with my son and a woman comes out to the waiting room and lets me know that she is the office manager and if I need anything, and nothing will change with him, I said whats going on? She told me that the office and Dr. Kathy are parting ways. I said what happened ? She never said, she kinda beat around the bush. So I went into the back room and proceeded with my visit with Dr. Kathy to find out that they had fired her. I was completely shocked. So we finished with with our appointment and we go up in front to pay on my account and the office manager is becoming very very irate. Now at this time Dr. Kathy is in with another patient. But this office manager is being so very unprofessional. She immediately tells the office staff that they will be going to different offices and this behavior is not acceptable. She (Dr Kathy) is not being professional. So as I am trying to make another appointment, the office staff is clearly bothered by what is going on. The office manager is pacing all around and then says to Dr. Kathy that you need to stop it you are being very unprofessional. I was so upset at this womans behavior. Dr. Kathy responds to the office manager and says I am having a conversation with my patient . The woman replies and says you shouldnt be telling them office business. Dr Kathy says what that i was fired? My patients have a right to know. So I finally finish because it was an interuption in my business. I will follow Dr. Kathy wherever she goes from here. We have been seeing Dr. Kathy for about 15 years or so and I have never had an issue with her. She has always been extremely professional and kind to say the least. Both of my kids just love her. This office manger should be ashamed of herself for acting this way especially when there were patients in the office. She was the one that was very unprofessional Thank you Eileen Santa Maria

Dr Kathy is the best! Always a great explanation of why she has selected the particular course of treatment, phenomenal touch with her patients and very often you will hear her beautiful voice in a song! All three of our kids love Dr Kathy!

Tender Smiles staff are patient in taking the time needed to develop a trust with my children. Some days its a couple minutes, on difficult days it took nearly an hour for my son to calm down.This was our 3rd dental provider we tried and the First time my younger son allowed anyone to touch his mouth.... now it s been many visits and the experience is always kind, caring, and getting the best possible treatment.Two of my children have been seen by Dr. Liya in the Edison Office regulary for about 4 to 6 years now.

I brought my daughter to Dr Liya and had a wonderful experience. Being this is my first child i was hesitant on bringing her to the dentist. But Dr Liya and her staff were amazing. Ive been coming to this dentist for quite a long time now and I just love it. Everyone is so friendly and they had these cool glasses they would give me from when I was younger. They even used to let me play with the instruments which really relaxed me.

Dr. Max is amazing with my kids. The whole staff is sweet and caring, my kids and I always feel special and welcome when we come for their checkups. I give them an A++ for their professionalism and how they make it fun.

My kids have been coming to Dr. Max since their first cleaning. He and his staff are so great with them that my kids actually enjoy going to their dentist appointments. I trust Dr. Max with their dental care because I know hes great at what he does. Ive recommended him to everyone I know.

I wish I had the option of giving them zero stars!! My son went there last week and was charged 500 for the removal of his braces. I’m in North Carolina and he’s up in New Jersey he’s 19 years old and have Insurance they “Claimed” they explained to him that they didn’t accept his insurance and he would have to pay out of pocket so he did and they said he needs a retainer another 400++ dollars. I wish he would’ve called me prior to him paying because I still have him under my insurance as well.... but of course they don’t accept Metlife or Aetna only Delta!! My issue is explain in depth to a 19 year old young man whether or not he signed a consent form ( because the young lady stated well your son signed a consent form) is irrelevant explain and give him the option of finding a dentist that’s within his network before taking this kid money!! It’s just not right and I feel my son was taken advantage ofFYI he canceled his appointment for the retainer he will go to another dentist office that’s in one of our network

Omg! We initially thought this was a great place with really friendly dentist. I was told that my 2yo son had 5 cavities and it would cost us about $1800 to fix them. I was told to ensure my son fast for at least 6-8 hours before his dental appointment to fix his cavities. We somehow forgot and so that bought me some time to go to another dentist for a second opinion. And guess what? I was told my 2yo does not have any cavities at all,.. I wonder if this practice do this to their patients to make extra money. Terrible terrible and horrible. To think I trusted these guys.

I had appointment at 12:30 for three kids but due to road work I was about 15 minutes late. While I was on my way, I received a call from the office at 12:40 or so that as I didnt make on time, so my appointment is cancelled and next appointment will be two months later. I rewuerequ them to keep my appointment and I shall be there in next 5 minutes but the lady was ruse, unpleasant and nin professional. I then said ok I will find another doctor, she said ok as if she doesnt care about losing a client. She shall not be working in this profession. I do not recommend any body to give there, atleast I will never go there

I love the staff and dentists at Tender Smiles, my children have been coming here every since they were babies and it is always been such a great experience for them all.

Please stay away from this place at all costs. They are good for simple procedures like cleaning because the kind nurses take care Very well. But for procedures like my 2 year old needed its a total ripoff and mind you they will make sure they do at least the cleaning read brushing every visit even if not necessary just to charge around $200 towards insurance. My kid had tooth decay and the dentist Lisa Ostrow immediately recommended steel crowns for the baby teeth that will eventually fall off. Also she recommended sedation using IV which my insurance doesnt cover and Id have to pay $2k extra. Total charges with insurance came out to around $5000. Luckily we found kidzdental in Old bridge that accepted my insurance and the whole estimate came out to be $500 with insurance and way better staff and dentist.

I would not recommend this practice to anyone who is taking their child for the first time . For procedures, they take your child to the back and strap them into a restraint . You are not allowed in there with them . I was brought back towards the end of the procedure to help calm my daughter down . She was hysterical crying and heart rate was was well over 120 bpm .This was my first and last time taking my daughter there . My daughter who was 3 at the time and is now 6 she still talks about the scarey dentist office. I didnt realize that this was not the norm of other dental practices to keep parents away from the child . Everyone who I have spoken with have either been able hold their child or be in the same room with their child during procedures.

Worst place to go toMy son used to go since he was 3 and he is now 11 .He sees the dentist frequently and go for cleaning every 6 month .He developed a root canal and dentist just asked me to go to an adult dentist so where was she from the problem until he developed a root canal and all what she said since a year and half we will wait and see ....
