Sensei Katz is knowledgeable and works well with his students. Both my children have learned and trained with him for several years. We are very happy!
My son 13 and daughter 15 are having great time and enjoying at this facility big time
I love training at Tiger Schulmann’s East Brunswick. I have the Best instructors who motives me to work hard. And on my down days reminds me to have a none quitting spirit. Tiger Schulmann’s has also made me very confident and strong I voice my options very loudly. I’m currently a sold yellow belt can’t wait to one day get my black belt 👊🏽👊🏽
Its been an amazing experience for my son. We are so happy that he is training at the best place with the best teachers.
East Brunswick MMA / Sensei Katz / Joshu Cuttino have literally saved my life. When I started here over 10 years ago, I was overweight, had high cholesterol and high blood pressure, but with their constant coaching and motivation I was able to get my black belt, drop 30+ pounds and improve my self esteem.I’m completely indebted to this entire organization.Sincerely...thank you...
My son started classes in Brooklyn, which They were great! We moved to NJ and this is the closest one so didn’t have a choice. During the pandemic I felt that the classes on zoom and in person are very different. I thought maybe he should of offered a discount knowing by that many people lost their jobs (including me) And they were not getting 100% training. Or offer a freeze. He only let me skip 1 month! Smh 🤦🏻♀️ The owner here doesnt care about it, he just wants his money. And the worst part is you must do a year contract! I will NOT be renewing. I wouldn’t recommend this place and give it 0 stars.
We are pleased with the center & how well they work with my son, Mattheus. He looks forward to his classes. So glad that the center is back up & running with extra measures in place after this pandemic. Definitely a five star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This place is amazing!! Theyve built my childrens confidence and discipline. They are better at school and other sports they play. Highly recommended.
This place is wonderful! My 4 year old daughter loves coming here; Sensei Katz and Joshu are very knowledgable, kind, and great with the kids. It is worth every penny!
Very unprofessional, very rudeI would never recommend to go there.they are hungry of money
My son is 10 and and has taken 4 classes. He is not in to sports at all. His only interest was video games. From the minute he walked in, he loved it!!! Im so happy we gave it a shot. Its building is confidence a d teaching him how to handle a situation if he gets bullied. Definitely would recommend it.
I read the reviews before I signed the dotted line on a year contract but I should have heeded the warnings.I started my son this year a month before the pandemic kicked off. I wanted him to do martial arts because he was having issues socializing and being bullied. Who would have known this would turn out the way it did.The gym closed in March and honestly I thought maybe after a month this will all blow over. The gym started offering video recorded classes, then eventually moved to classes on video. We live in a small space there isnt enough room for him to practice so after one try that was out.I held out hope this will all blow over, well June came around and its become obvious corona is sticking around. At that point I had been paying my tuition even though I wasnt using the service. I finally stopped in june and asked to be let out of my contract.Mr. Katz out right refused and said the gym will be open soon and offered us an additional day of online classes and 3 months free at the end of my term. I tried to appeal to him again, he wouldnt budge.Every other activity that my soon was enrolled in has canceled payment and/ or given a refund. I did not even ask for money back for the months I paid and wasnt able to use the service just to be let out of my year contract.Since these are unprecedented times I was hoping he would show mercy on the parents that might want to opt out. Nope he wanted every dime. Now he is offering classes in person starting last week and has gone through different precautions to make it as safe as it can be. But the issue still remains i dont feel it safe for my son to return to any activities even school.Im not going to put him at risk for someone elses pay day. Its sad things people will do for money, but i should have known better when it required me to sign a year contract for a childrens class. He really enjoyed that class its a shame... returning to normal has shown to have devastating consequences in other states. Please contact me by email if you are having an issue with Tiger Schulmans similar to me.
We have been associated with Tiger Schumann (East Brunswick, NJ) for about 6 months for the ongoing training of martial Arts for my 8 years old daughter. These last few months have been extremely challenging due to ongoing Covid-19. However, the ever-energetic trainers at Tiger Schulmann didn’t allow these restrictions to come in the way and found means to continue virtual training during these Closedowns. Apart from learning martial arts, my daughter has learnt to practice the “non-quitting spirit” in her day-to- day life. This is something that I have heard Sensei and Joshu kept preaching through out and showed the kids when it came to put into practice. We look forward to our continued association with the program.
My experience at East Brunswick TS is world class. The instructors are amazing just remember you get what you pay for. I would say the only thing holding a students progress back is the student themselves. Its a way better workout than going to a gym plus its fun..
Sensei and Joshu are very good with training. Especially Joshu is kind with my son. I will definitely recommend. Just be informed about the minimum class requirement and yearly contract.
I really want my son learn martial arts and he was enrolled here but after few months of joining he had met with an accident he broke his arm and doctors had advised not to indulge in contact sports. The owner here doesnt care about it, they want their money. My son didnt attend the classes but they wanted their monthly payment which isnt cheap either($250). This is ridiculous when you know someone is really hurt there should be exceptions. I like the place sensei Joshu is really good, my son loves this place but even if i want to put him back in I wont because there is a one year contract you must sign, come on guys no one does Contracts anymore.............
While this place does get some getting used to, this is overall a great school. The instructors here are really nice, and you get to work with groups at your own pace. The classes are mostly small, and not chaotic, and its stress-free. The instructions are open to any questions you may have. I dont think the location is that good. This is the 2nd time this place has moved, and there are both a limited amount of space in each one. Overall, this is a great karate school. I highly suggest anyone tries it.
This WAS a great program. Then the corporate greed kicked in... high pressure sales tactics, closing or combining locations to combat poor enrollment, making it more about the business results than the students. We have had our location closed and had to attend a new location at least 3 times and each time, the new location is worse than the previous... further away, worse facility and staff/owner is not as good. I tried giving feedback to the current franchise owner but he wasnt interested. They just want your money and pretend that they care so you renew!Response to Owners Comment: My son is still there because you wont give me a refund and the program is NOT cheap. You wont give me a refund for my other child either and you wont take responsibility for the behavior of your staff. I also emailed you feedback when I asked about a refund - you promptly dismissed both. If you dont want negative feedback and dont want to take any responsibility, then perhaps you shouldnt own a business.
I regret investing 6 years of my life into their company. I used to love the sport, but this location made me hate it. If youre interested in this school go somewhere else, its not worth the time or money. *insert rude reply from the owner because he refuses to take responsibility for himself and his staff ;)*EDIT: you already know what happened. Stop acting innocent. You were rude, insensitive, and condescending when I vented my frustrations about your teaching style. Clearly you do not care about your students. Youre only after the money.
Having been practicing the sport since I was a very young age, I’d grown comfortable with this dojo especially. However, after I got older and eventually came out as gay, things completely changed; almost immediately. Upon being found out about by the Sensei and Instructors alike, I could feel the negativity/discomfort nearly eminating off them. Originally this was thought to be an insecurity until I had CONSTANTLY felt left out. I was constantly undermined by the people I looked up to, completely ruining how my confidence and affinity towards MMA. They encouraged a homophobic enviroment by allowing peers to ostracize me, making me unwanted and different. I absolutely regret informing my “safe space” (the dojo) of my predisposition and have ever since felt insecure and affected by this. Absolutely disappointing.
This is a great Dojo and awesome for your Kids the instructors and everyone I have met associated with the organization are great roll models as well
I went to tigerschulmanns.Instructor very nice and Joshu was nice too. We loved it!!
Great school! Wonderful teachers! Great work out!
My 16 y.o. son and 12 y.o. daughter have been students here for 3 years. Yes it is more expensive than most others. When you buy a Kia, you dont get a Tesla. Thats just the way it works. Ive found the staff very professional and the Schulmann methodology and system very effective. Its rare for a local business, any business, to create and foster a community. TS East Brunswick, under S. Katz and Joshu have succeeded with this effort. They absolutely care about the students development and growth. When something isnt working, they have been open to constructive criticism. And they know how to run a business also. So far so good and keep up the good work!
Hello Everyone. Our son has been a member at Tiger Schulman East Brunswick for about 4 months now. Our son is 5 years old and on the autism spectrum. I can tell you that the school has been fantastic with him and treats him just like his peers. Yes, the sensei will sit down with you before you join and explain what is ahead. Some people do not want to spend that half hour, but if you think about it the time is well spent. Our son received his first stripe not too long ago and is extremely proud, beaming actually. Shortly thereafter, I explained to sensei that our son would have to attend one class a week for a few weeks due to a prior commitment. He was extremely professional and understanding with us having a special needs child, and although he recommended two days a week completely understood. In terms of cost... Yes it may be a bit more expensive, but for us we feel you get what you pay for and can see the difference from other schools we had tested for our son. Overall our experience has been fantastic, the instructors are awesome and we hope it continues.
I joined TSK after taking one of their introductory mother-daughter classes and I loved it! My main goal was to lose weight, but the self-discipline is as much what I love about kickboxing at Tiger Schulmanns as the exercise itself. I find it to be calming and focusing, almost like a form of meditation. Under both Senseis and Joshus guidance, its a great way of keeping myself connected both mentally and physically. On top of these great results, I am losing weight and getting more toned and fit, getting stronger. I dont think of it as exercise any more--it is more of a stimulating activity that never gets boring and has become a way of life! Speaking as a woman who is over 40 and never would have thought I could get back to my 15 year old karate-loving self, I think the East Brunswick club is warm and welcoming, both fun and serious at the same time. I strongly recommend it--one visit and I think youll be as hooked as I was.
After not exercising for many years, I decided to give Tiger Schulmans a try. From the first minute I walked in, I was greeted and treated like I was special. The classes are not only fun and varied, but also structured to offer the maximum achievement. Both Sensi and Jo-shu are fantastic teachers who encourage while they instruct. You work with a group, but at your own pace. Everyone is friendly and supportive.I highly recommend Tiger Schulmanns of East Brunswick.
I was looking for an activity for my 2 daughters that was fun and they could learn something. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and 2 other learning disabilities. The instructor and staff atTiger Schulmanns are fantastic. They are curteous and friendly and always willing to help with any of our needs. My oldest is now doing much better in school and also has become much more confident. My younger daughter loves the martial arts training she excels at it and has even won some competitions. i recommend this scvhool for everyone.
Overall very disappointed. I have wanted to do kickboxing for a while. So last summer I saw this particular Tiger Shulmann move closer to my house so I thought it was a sign. I knew they didnt display prices or anything on their website so I tried not to think about why. I decided to go in there to sign up for a class. I sat down with one of the managers and she schedules me for an orientation and the free class. I ask how much it is and still no real answer (the answer she gave was oh it works out to be about $20 a class. And you will sit down with the sensei afterward to pick out the payment plan you like). At this point Im like payment plan? How much is it? So I came back the next week to start my kickboxing class, finally. Yay! I get started on some paperwork and that was the beginning of the end. On the paperwork there is a question that asks you how many days a week are you willing to train? The minimum on there as a choice was 2. Well, I knew with 3 kids, a business, and a full time job I would not be able to do that.Well, the manager did not explain this to me when I was there just one week before. So I went up to her and asked. She stated its the minimum requirement for training. I explained to her that if I was told this from the start I would have said I wasnt able to do 2 days a week because of my schedule and I wouldnt have wasted her time. She then repeated the minimum requirement to me as if I didnt hear her the first time. Well, long story short I just felt like something wasnt right. If youre not going to be truthful up front with people in the beginning as a business owner that to me is not being honest. I started easing my way towards the door by this point when I got a whats your name? from the sensei. I kindly told him my name and stated that I probably wont stay. I guess that wasnt what he wanted to hear. Now any decent person with any kind of customer service would have perhaps asked something like why not? I would have explained due to my schedule I am unable to commit to 2 days a week, upon which a kind reply would have been I completely understand. However, since 2 days is needed as a minimum when your schedule does permit we would love to see you come back and visit us. What I got was completely the opposite. No sooner then I said to him that I wasnt staying his attitude flipped. He was COMPLETELY rude. The customer service was HORRIBLE after I said I was unable to do it. He mumbled something like this is not the place for you. So I ended up walking out. I then read other online reviews about bad management and how sometimes people have gotten stuck in an expensive contract...so maybe I should see this as a blessing in disguise.
In response to the owners review on Marguerites review...as a former student, once they have their money they dont really care what you get out of the program or if you enjoy it. People continue to go probably because theyd rather get something for their money rather than you holding it for nothing.
The whole chain is a waste of time and money.
Waste time and money...
