Great selection of cardio machines, wished they had more cable weight machines. However the staff is RUDE! I always say good morning or good night when coming in and they don’t even acknowledge you. What a shame! Horrible costumer service. They need some basic costumer service skill training or refresher for their front desk personnel, rudeness it’s not cool or a trend and human decency does not stay from you “cool”.

Very affordable pricing for memberships. You can bring as many guests as you like if you get the maxed out membership. Also, it’s got everything I need to work out with ease. Not much waiting around either. It can be busy but the waiting around for a machine has not bothered me whatsoever.Clean, great atmosphere, not such loud music either. They’ve got classes as well. Pretty much all you would need plus more for a gym.

‪My first time going to the gym with my 2yo daughter the first thing what I saw was the person in charge(Rachel) for the kids with her phone in hands watching video or listening music, I asked how the kids club worked and she told me that I had to pay $5 each time or $10 monthly, I said ok, let’s try, after 5 min I saw my daughter walking outside without anybody assisting her, I took my daughter and went back inside to see what was happening, the lady didn’t know how explain why my daughter was walking outside alone right next to the front door with people walking in and out all the time, she just said she was trying to help another kid with shoes but the question is, why the door was open? This situation is unacceptable because first I was paying to have somebody giving attention for my kid and because something really bad could happen if my daughter was going outside the gym because the street is right next to the front door. I don’t trust in that place anymore and nobody should.

I have been using LA fitness club in East Brunswick since it acquired my membership from Bally fitness club on the other side of route 18. Very nice gym. During Pandemic last year it was closed and automatically suspended charging my account. After it resumed operation, it enforced social distancing and was very well maintained in my opinion. Since last Friday it fully opened without mask mandate, but some customers are still wearing masks, the facility provides free disinfection spray bottles to everyone during your workout, and staff members constantly walk around and wipe used equipment.

The staff is very nice not a single complaint against them. My only problem is that the gym itself is very dirty. This place needs to be vacuumed some how there are crumbs in every machine, the floor of the locker is always wet and the toilets are never clean. They do not have sanitation stations around the gym with paper towels and spray bottles like many modern places do. It has a pool but Ive been too afraid to use it considering the cleaning habits that the rest of the gym is subject to I could only imagine what there pool maintenance schedule is like. They do have a wide verity of equipment to support a large variety of workouts however so that is one redeeming factor. If it wasnt for my workplace paying for this gym I would probably not stay for very long. Defiantly take a trial membership first to see if you like it before signing up.

Nice gym. Staff is friendly but some r not helpful. The pool is great but the water temperature is cold it need to be a bit warm. Love all the exercise equipment they have. I can weight to try them on.

Love swimming in the pool. When it gets crowded, we share lanes. Well, polite swimmers share lanes; not everyone is polite.

This is a very small location and over crowded just one floor, pool has four lanes only and 4.5 feet deepest. Very very congested.

Gym has seriously gone down hill in quality. Half of the equipment is broken. Only one of each machine working most of the time. Cardio equipment in terrible condition, treadmills feel like youre running sideways or about to fall off from so much wear on the track. Turf field takes up an unreasonable amount of space. Staff is very lackadaisical and uncaring about upkeep. Theft is a huge problem, in 3 years Ive gotten a wallet and a belt stolen from me. Been going to gyms in more urban areas like Elizabeth and Piscataway for longer than that and never dealt with theft in those areas. Do not waste your money, go to LA Fitness in North Brunswick or Piscataway, or Crunch in East Brunswick instead

With the updated hours its now usable. Machines remain broken for a long period. It gets crowded and dirty fast.

A 3 because they are a decent size place. A 1 star for cleaning and machine upkeep. If I had a better option I would go elsewhere. OK for the value, but northing special.

Went back first time after re-opening. A mask is required to get in but many customers just keep it below their nose or even below their chin (in other words, being useless). That is inexcusable of course but it might help if there were signs noting that masks must be worn properly, if customers were told they must wear them properly, and if a staff member or recording was telling people to wear them properly.They will have to do better if they want to stay open.

Just joined this club. I have unlimited guest privileges and its annoying how I bring the same person but they have to sign this document as a guest EVERYTIME. Also dont like the app. Would much rather have a keychain scanner. As for the gym, they have good equipment, and classes for everyone. Also all kinds of people go. Its never too crowded.

Used to workout here for 2 1/2 years but switched to another gym because it was closer and slightly cheaper. Pretty good selection of equipment though its not always as clean as I would have liked. Only downside is that when a machine breaks it doesnt usually get fixed for a month or two. Overall 4/5 is a reasonable rating in my book.

Gym is small to begin with and they decided to cut off a quarter of the gym to put down turf and push machines together, in the middle of a pandemic.... Makes sense. The trainers are full of themselves and rude to other members. Theres always a good amount of machines not working. So many dopes who refuse to wear their masks properly and the staff doesnt seem too serious about enforcing the rule.

I have been a member of LA Fitness on Rt.18 in East Brunswick since January 2020, and have been going 3-4 times a week (except for the several months the gyms were closed due to Covid-19). A couple weeks ago without any notification or alerts to their members LA Fitness Rt.18 changed their brand to ESPORTA and began renovations to their policies, equipment, and attitude… to that of mobsters. I have been paying a $50 membership fee for single gym use including sign up fees and bi-annual fees since January, but ESPORTA’s most exclusive multi-club membership costs $25 a month without any sign up fees and includes several more amenities than my twice as expensive membership to the same exact gym!!Today I inquired about switching my membership from LA Fitness single-gym $50+ dollars a month to their most expensive $25 dollar membership… for the same gym. I was told that if I wanted to switch I would have to pay a $190 conversion fee, and that I could not simply quit LA Fitness and join ESPORTA because that would be somehow illegitimate and unlawful and they screen their applications and prohibit this behavior. Therefore if I wanted to continue to use their gym I would have to pay the inflated price of $50 dollars a month ($25 more than their most expensive membership) or I would have to pay the $190 dollars up front.When I inquired about quitting the gym, I was told that was not even an option! I was told by the manager that there is no way that I would be able to quit my gym membership through the online portal, I would also not be able to quit the gym today because the only person who can do that for me works Monday-Friday, and if I wanted to speak to her I would have to call and make an appointment first.Don’t you love when you sign up for a gym, but without warning they change to a whole different gym and give you an ultimatum of paying their extortion fees up front or on a monthly basis without giving you a way out unless you jump through hoops and I am positive pay a hefty cancellation fee, that is if I am ever able to schedule this appointment in the first place.PS – On Thursday 12 November, ESPORTA Rt. 18 decided to put in an afro-turf in half of the gym space they typically use for equipment. But don’t worry because they didn’t take any equipment out, they just smashed it all together until you feel like you are sitting on the lap of the person next to you while you are exercising. Not only is there no social distancing, they are pretty much leaving you no choice but to rub elbows with everyone the entire time you are there. THANKS #LAFITNESS

Front counter kid came off just a biiiit unfriendly and, if possible, over-professional. Willing to accept maybe he was just grumpy being it was 7am.

Not one of the nicest LA Fitness franchises I have been to. Dirty, broken machines that are at times past overdue for servicing and repair....never enough machines available for the members...unfortunately, its on my way from work but I prefer to stop by LA Fitness in North Brunswick than this one...Also, they have displayed a sign saying members shouldnt be using the cardio equipment for more than 20 minutes when theres people waiting on line while the other day the GM of this particular location refused to honor their own statement which is publicly displayed in the gym even after I explained to him that I had been waiting for the treadmill for more than 10 minutes. Not just that, but the demeanor and intonation was absolutely arrogant n rude which for a GM was pretty unreasonable. I absolutely understand the the customer service perspective of not telling the members to leave the cardio equipment after 20 minutes but then they shouldnt be publicly displaying any false statements that are not true or that they cant honor.The statement displayed can be seen in the attached photo.

Hi Today I went to Esporta fitness, just to check the place out and the price out but they try to strong arm me into to being a member . The customer service representative went like this if you are serious about the gym then you will join Esport Fitness, something like that as soon as I said i am still havent decided he somewhat lost interest in talking to me.

Equipment broken, doesn’t get fixed

Machines constantly broken for long periods of time. People who work there in general do not seem to care about the customers. We go all the time and it is 50/50 if they will greet you when you walk into the place. Not hard to be friendly. Makes a difference, especially when there are a lot of other choices to select from in the area. They also seem to have lost a lot of members as of late. Most likely because the bathroom are CONSTANTLY out of soap and paper towels.

Absolutely spotless gym. The General Manager Tyler gave me the best service I’ve ever experienced in my 59 years of living. I would absolutely recommend this gym to everyone looking to change their life. Tyler is very helpful and already showed me how a couple of the machines work which is lovely. I love this gym and look forward to going every single day for the rest of my life. Tyler’s service and warm welcoming smile have made me feel so welcome and comfortable in a gym environment for the first time in my life.

Pretty decent gym. They should rotate the machines that are directly behind the power racks though because some of the creepy old people love to get a front row seat of you squatting.

Good equipment but pretty rude service. The lady at front desk, Evelyn was extremely rude in dealing with customers. Apparently, it turned out she was the manager for the branch, incredible. This happened last Tuesday when I was very disparagingly asked not to use the scanning machine to scan my membership card. It is interesting that these same people encourage us to use the machine ourselves and when we attempt to use it, they are extremely discourteous and rude to the customer. May be they need training on basics of customer service. What was even more interesting was when I asked for the name of her manager, I was told his last name was confidential. If someone wishes to be so confidential in his/her name (I didn’t ask for social security number!), I wonder how they deal with customer experience. Well, in that case, how are the following justified: A different individual scans my membership every single time. Would the display of MY full name to a different individual every time, not amount to compromising my personal information?

I went in to la fitness rt 18 and one of the sales counselors Alex Figueroa was by far one of the most helpful and knowledgeable people I have met in my 27 years of life... He showed me around and the gym was clean and the locker rooms were in pristine shape... I can not wait to start my fitness journey there

I recently joined LA Fitness in EB and it has been so far one of the best decisions of my life. Ive been apart of most other gyms in the area and they were always just okay and had everything I needed, but then I made the decision to check out LA Fitness and I was speechless with everything they had to offer from the free classes to the pool and even the sauna. The best part about it is its kept very clean with janitorial staff constantly walking the floor cleaning everything. When I went to sign up I was greeted with a friendly smile from the front desk worker Juli and then met with Alex the manager and he did his very best to find a deal that I was happy with. I highly recommend checking out LA Fitness in EB you wont be disappointed.

I recently signed up and have had nothing but positive experiences. Alex the general manager answered all my questions through the sign up process and is always available for assistance. Even the girl at the front desk, Juli was great. She has helped me on several occasions when I forgot my badge or let her know about an issue in the locker room. Gym is big and is always clean.

Decent gym, my problems are the class schedules and cardio machines. Half the treadmills are broken and have signs saying theyll be repaired. The number grows every day and theyre never fixed. Unless its late night, its hard to get one during good hours..My bigger complaint is the punching bags in the stretching room. Theyre the main reason I signed up, but one thing they failed to mention is you rarely have access during the classes, which are all the convenient hours assuming you work. I sit in a corner facing away from the class making no noise yet half the instructors kick you out for whatever reason. Youre 10 ft away from someone and going light, theres no liability risk and the class.drowns out any noise. Had they informed me this is how it works, I never wouldve signed up. The staff are great otherwise especially the front desk girls and the janitor Jeremiah, but for the price you pay, I dont consider this gym worth it.

The manager Evelyn is extremely impolite, mainly with Senior Cit. Like me. Very sad ! In this time that everybody is having a hard time ... be disrespected to a young lady, that suppose be there to help us.

Great hot tub jets. Too much chlorine thins bathing suits in 2 months! Burns eyes.

Treadmills have been out of service for more than a month and management does not care. Employees give attitude when I ask about when the machines will be serviced. All what they care about is getting new members but not standing behind their promises

Recently joined the gym because the atmosphone is welcoming and so is the staff. This la fitness location has good equipment, I can always get a good leg workout in and the machines are well maintained. Juli at the front desk is friend and chill, she always greets with welcoming smile. Adam made the signing up process a great one, he gave me a detailed and informative tour. I didn’t feel forced into a contract or swindling during the entire process, very professional!

Good gym. I go often and it has pretty much all of what you need. The only downside is the locker rooms are sometimes dirty and the machines sometimes take weeks to get fixed. Great place to workout though.

The equipment is ALWAYS broken/scheduled for service. There are machines that haven’t been fixed in months even after mentioning it to the front desk. The treadmills are old and also always busted up. They appear to be the same ones from when the gym first opened years ago and replacements are long overdue.

Have been a member for a couple of years now. Luv coming to this place, staff is always welcoming and attentive and willing to go the extra mile to help. Place is clean and well maintained, been to other gyms were equipment stays broken from months. At this gym as soon as the fault is found it is marked and fixed as soon as the company can get someone out there.

One of the better managed LA Fitness clubs. Dumbbells are organized neatly, but the space is small so becomes congested during peak hours around 5-7. Hygiene is good here.

Really nice gym and people who work here! I just took off one star since one of the yoga instructors, Sal, was rude. I just signed up for a gym membership and thought you could just enter and leave a class whenever as I saw so many people doing that all the time from various classes Ive been taking for the first 2 weeks. And honestly, I never knew there was a policy that entering late into a class was a no-no from all the expensive and all the mainstream gyms Ive been to. At least put a sign on the door stating to not enter past such and such specific times as class is in session. It was also the way he handled his interaction with me in front of a large class of students and with an unprofessional and condescending attitude. If you dont want to interrupt your class flow, especially as a yoga instructor, then dont talk in front of everyone and so loudly trying to condescend a new patron, making a show of things, and ultimately disrupting your own class even more; its not conducive to the flow of yoga, right? As a professional instructor, you couldve improvised and asked everyone to relax, walked to me and tell me in private that you would appreciate it or that your class policy is to not arrive late at all. Okay I get it! But that condescending tone and demeanor was anything but professional. Hire a new yoga instructor or educate this fool, cause a gym class is something thats supposed to be inclusive, warm, and inviting.

The gym is very clean, all the equipment is current and well maintained. The ladies lockeroom was beautiful. It was like being at an expensive spa. Highly recommend!

It is ok. The staff isnt too friendly. The machines are OK but not a great variaty. Its pretty clean and some of the members were nice.

I am an active member. Im about to change gym for the following reasons.Treadmills are almost always broken or out of order, old and TV screens do not work.Yesterday half of the machines didnt work,the sink never has soap, the showers have mold and dirty the locker room

Pretty nice and well kept fitness center. The majority of the equipment is almost always in great working condition and there are cool classes like Zumba or Cycling. Great place to work out and blow some steam off.

Been a member for about 2 years now. When they first open it was a good gym, now idk what happened but it’s always dirty. Machines are always down it’s very outdated needs to be remodeled it’s not worth the money. Only good thing about the gym is the pool area & Sauna aside from that everything else sucks compared to other La fitness I’ve been too. Kind of sucks cause it’s the closest to me.

Where are the janitors on the weekend. The mens room is filthy, garbage overflowing, no soap in the showers (every weekend). I mention it to the front desk every week, same result! Do not join, get a one week free pass and see for yourself. The hot tub/pool is closed more than it is open. (get a new pool company to take care of them). One of the busiest LA clubs around, but dirtiest!

Some of the equipment is not working. Showers could use more cleaning because there is bunch of hair left behind. But atmosphere is decent and it is within close proximity to my commute. Staff is friendly and easygoing.

I love LA at East Brunswick, but I have to say that it doesnt look clean in some areas, especially lockers and showers. Also, there are many machines schedule for service and it makes it complicated to workout when the gym is crowd. :(. Hope theyll fix the situation...

Recently joined. I like how theres always treadmill available after work hours. I really like the layout of the gym and the people are usually nice enough to clean the equipments after use.

NO WIFI!!!! Did not honor guest pass. Some (not all) of the people at the front have an attitude. I have seen insects in the gym (roach like insects). The north Brunswick one is better and is not far from this gym.

I cam honestly say i have never heard of this company begore until i had met the GM of this place at a chipotle. He gave me the run down because i was interested in his fitted shirt. I joined and i literally have not left the building yet. They cant find me.I think his names Kyle

Very goid gym with nice people and the equipment is well maintained. My only complain and Ive addressed it at the front desk several times is the womens sauna. I dont have issues with women going in without clothing as long as they have an underwear & towel to sit on. The sit on the bench bare decreasing fluid from private parts. This is very unsanitary to other women who like to lay down and relax. I had suggested to staff perhaps they can pass by every half hour to make sure its addressed but this is clearly not being taken into consideration . Its not necessarily to have 3 at the front desk, Im sure at least one can get off the cell for a walk around.

This is probably the worst gym I’ve ever been too. Sauna is in terrible shape and is almost always out of order. Pool always dirty. A bunch of machines are perpetually out of order especially the pulley machines. Curling machines in terrible shape. 0/10 would not recommend. Oh and they are absolutely overpriced. They wouldn’t let me cancel over the phone. I had to either come in 9-5pm during WORK hours or send them a LETTER in 2017. They are scammers. Do not give them your hard earned money!!!

LAfitness has a really nice atmosphere. Also very good classes for those of you who get bored easily of just working out on equipment.

I had a few nice workouts taking the aqua fitness class. The facility looks clean and well maintained. I’m rating this location as a 2 due to the fitness sales manager who soured my experience. I’ve only been a member since 4/30/19 and I wish I signed up at different location. Alexander F, the fitness sales manager is the rudest, most unprofessional individual I have ever encountered. My experience with him yesterday was terrible. He refused to answer my question with an actual response that contained facts and told me to “relax, work out and release stress” was just rude and condescending. He was texting while I was speaking him and rolling his eyes at me when he wasn’t texting while I was talking and then didn’t like that I wanted an actual answer containing specific facts to my inquiries, he said he was refusing to talk to me and got up from his desk walked away. He did this in front of other staff and members. He blew off my inquiries on 3 separate occasions and then when I was upset after the third occurrence he determined it was more appropriate to put me down in front of other staff and members and walk away.I’ve been pleased with the gym so far in terms of cleanliness and quality of classes. I did get my issue resolved by the manager at North Brunswick and have changed my home club to that location. I am grateful that the manager of North Brunswick believes in treating people paying for services with respect. I would recommend signing up for a membership at East Brunswick LA Fitness; however if Alexander F is the one that you have to sign up with I would refuse to sign a contract with him as the representative.

The General Manager was asking people if they had a Gmail and to search the Gym up and when the review page came up he was automatically just clicking 5 stars for people with his hands on my and others phones, I noticed and did not post it, very unprofessional. FAKE REVIEWS!!!

I decided to give LA fitness another shot this week and I have to say, the GM, Tyler, was a big help in making me change my attitude about working out. I highly recommend LA fitness EB for anyone ready to work hard, generate momentum in their life and commit to the lifestyle.

Ive only been going here for a year and I loved it. However within the past 6 months the quality of the gym have went way down beyond my expectations. The equipment broke while I was using it, the mens bathroom are always filthy, moldy and stalls are always gross. This gym have really discouraged me to work out.

LA Fitness in East Brunswick is a great place to workout! Friendly staff and clean gym. The manager Mike was super helpful when signing me up and is always a friendly face.

Theres a great smoothie bar, but I dont like how the studio is directly in front of all the machines. I feel like Im dancing on display.

The men’s toilets are exceptionally dirty (think port authority bus stop). Broken equipment will usually take months to fix. The place is also very crowded unless you go at odd times. Staff is very indifferent and generally rude. There are better options out there.Tons of big jocks all over the place who will occupy equipment forever. It’s a terrible place for a new comer.

Although its an decent place to workout, their personal training is a scam. They say no contract for membership but bind you into a year-long personal training membership and you have to pay a large sum to cancel. I agree with the other reviews who say its a bait and switch tactic. Also, trainers are constantly leaving, so you probably cant stick with a trainer for more than a couple of sessions.

Cleanliness is very important and this la fitness misses the mark. Also the equipment. Breaks down very easily, and its not fixed.for extended periods of time.

Btw, its not only a scam when it comes to personal training, there is flat out theft going on. I was PT at LA FITNESS for a year and a half and I know all the shady stuff that happens behind the scenes. First off, they do scam you into paying more per session than others. I had a client paying $45 a session, three days a week, and for a full year. I had another client with the exact same amount is sessions, but paying only $20 a session. Also they flat out steal. You may think that having a password that only you know makes it impossible to steal. You are wrong. You are allowed to no show a client (which is a loss of a session and the PT gets their money) twice with no over site. On the third one, it gets red flagged and the only person who can allow the third no show is the GM and they do it all the time. And after the third gets authorized you can no show a client again twice before it gets red flagged. Flat out theft. Yet, the only thing that is good, is that you are able to change trainers. most of the time its a crapshoot, but there are some amazing and dedicated PT people who really are fantastic. You just have to keep trying trainers till you get one.

I got a call by one of the workers there about joining their gym. I repeatedly said no and when he finally gave up he was extremely rude and hung up on me. Terrible customer service.

It’s 5:45 on June 4th 2018. The doors are still locked. Parking lot full of people waiting outside in rain. I have to now hope someone shows up to work just so I can enter and change my clothes now for work. Such a joke. They should offer a months pay for this back

Place could be cleaner, when I reported it to the front desk the staff member replied yeah the user is suppose to clean it themselves. No protein drink bar even though its broadcasted every few minutes to visit it. The staff only cares about getting you to pay for a trainer, otherwise good luck getting help. Oh the dispensers on the wall (which I mentioned to the front desk) is not soap they are to use to clean the equipment. No signs indicated this. Im almost sure this is some type of violation, not to post signs indicated such.
