Just got a fantastic haircut from Melissa at the North Durham Barbershop. She was extremely friendly and conversational, and made sure she understood exactly what I was looking for. The haircut was exactly what I wanted and Melissa took her time without seeming in any rush. 10/10 would recommend!

I recently switched to North Durham Barber Shop after my former barber retired after cutting my hair for over 20 years. I switched to Tobys North Durham Barber Shop and cannot be any happier! Recently Melissa has started working here on Thursdays and Fridays, and I must tell you, she is awesome! The best cut I have ever had. She is highly skilled, but also takes her time to make sure the cut is perfect. Plus, she is a great conversationalist and makes you feel so relaxed in the chair. Look no where else for a real barbershop experience! This is THE place.

After my previous regular barber shop continued turning over staff and increased their prices while reducing the services provided with a basic cut, I decided to give North Durham Barber Shop a try. Everything was great - Toby is very friendly and provided great conversation during the cut. Good cut, good price. Both thumbs up.

I hesitate to leave this review. Not because of the haircut - itll be the best haircut you get. Not because of the staff - youll fully enjoy the conversation. Not because of the price - its slightly cheaper that other Durham shops which will do a worse job. Not because of the location, the cleanliness, the clientele, or anything about the fantastic experience youre sure to have.I hesitate to leave this review because Im selfish and dont want everyone around to discover the best place to get a haircut, and cause me to have to wait for mine. So please, go to the North Durham Barber Shop... just not the same day Im going to go.

Second, Toby’s personality is second to none! He’s very courteous, friendly, & he always make me feel as family. I found out about this barber shop from my father before he left the area. For a few years I was using the typical chain salons, then decided I wanted to find an actual barber shop so I could support local business. I tried a couple in the Durham area and was very pleased with North Durham Barber Shop. No appointments needed, just walk in and wait. Superior cuts at a good price while in a mens atmosphere.

Great attention to detail, super nice folks and very fair prices.I live in downtown Durham, and the short drive was well worth it. You wont be disappointed.

These guys are always perfect... a great old-fashioned barber shop. They cut hair and they cut it well. This is not a salon. They dont get all fancy pants about the service they deliver, thank goodness.

Im irrationally critical of the hair cuts that Im given. Ive never complained, I just simply dont ever go back.After finding North Durham Barber Shop more than a year ago, based on the recommendations of two separate native Durhamites, I now plan to NEVER go anywhere else.They deserve far more than they charge and they are both extremely talented as well as personable.Both Toby and Daniel remembered me and my haircut preferences from the first time I walked in their door.They are absolutely top notch!

Ive been here twice now my boss referred me here and I can say I will never go anywhere else. I moved here from Oklahoma 2 years ago and this is the first place I found that actually listens to how I want my hair cut. Other places would always cut my hair the way they wanted to. I havent learned the guys name yet but hes the closest one to the door and he is exc excellent.

I am blown away by how little Ive had to wait here, considering that this place offers by FAR the cheapest and best haircuts Ive had in Durham! I am a customer for life - with quality better than the elite downtown shops and prices better than some chain shops, coming here is a no-brainer.

I started taking my sons to Toby Clayton when they were just young boys and now one is 29 and the other 23. He always made them feel welcome and Always did a great job on every haircut. Now he cuts 2 of my grandsons also and one just turned 3 and Toby has shown so much patience with him especially since hes been afraid of the noises and just the haircut in general. He takes time to show him eaxh thing he uses and is so caring with him. My other grandson is already 11 and Toby is the barber for him also. If you want a good haircut, good conversation a few laughs and plenty of care for clients then North Durham Barber Shop is the Best!!! Thank you Toby for all the years of haircuts and our family looks forward to many more!
