I have had consistently positive experiences with Claytons Car. They change my oil, they have done major repair as well about three times. Went up the road once where things were cheaper. They were. So back with Clayton for the duration.

I had multiple issues and was given an email estimate in priority order. Then on the phone I received a full breakdown of what the more critical items were and which items could safely be delayed. Very fair pricing and fast turnaround. Highly recommend.

So, had an urgent need for a solution to an intermittent voltage loss in my Jeep. Charged me to diagnose and said they ran the car for an hour and voltage never dropped. Instead of actually diagnosing the issues they said they couldn’t find the problem. Charged me $105 and on my way home that night my car died on the freeway. Replaced the alternator myself and problem solved. Thanks for nothing!

Claytons always communicates what needs to be done so well. Its always great quality work. If something is not quite right, they fix it (no extra charge) until it is. I always know the job is done correctly and that they didnt do anything they didnt need to do.

I cannot say enough good things about CCC. As a young female, going to get any work done on my car is incredibly intimidating. The men at CCC explain everything they do on my car in great detail in a way that I can understand. They call me multiple times to give me updates on my car. They are friendly, welcoming, and genuine. I never feel like I’m being taken advantage of like I do at other mechanics. They do amazing work and charge more than fair prices. Their invoices are organized and itemized so that even I can understand the charges. I will never take either of my vehicles anywhere other than CCC again. Ive been to Clayton Car Care twice now and I never plan on taking my car anywhere else. I went to get my oil changed and headlight replaced. Ended up needing both headlights and I have a VW golf so I have to use pricey synthetic oil. They gave me a call before doing anything with the oil or other light. Even though I knew it was expensive they still made sure to let me know. Thats just good service. Ive been to other shops in the past and gotten complaints about having to work on my VW and they never blinked an eye. They know what theyre doing and theyre professional about it. Highly Recommend!

Saw the rating on these guys and after a battle with my vehicle at the dealership and 3 other shops with an electrical and starting issue, I was at my wits end! I dropped it off and was impressed with shop, front desk experience and their follow up. My issues with the car took some time, but the shop never gave up and soon found the issues no one else could. Clayton Car Care has provided brakes and alternator services for me. I was taking my Lexus to the dealership and I thought I would give Clayton Car Care a try since it was in my community. I was greatly surprised with the quick service and affordable cost (lower than the dealership). After my replacement of my alternator I heard a whistling noise. The problem wasn’t connected to the repair but the repair was minor and they didn’t charge me that is customer service at its best. I most definitely will continue to use them for my car services.

The most honest auto shop I could possibly imagine. Clayton’s could tell I had been worked over by a dealership instead instead of fixing the problem and charging me like most .. they informed me. Clayton’s provided me the understanding and knowledge that the dealership had broken there warranty and the law and I went back and had my car fixed for free. They saved me well over 1000$ and didn’t profit off of this. I can trust Clayton’s and I will never shop anywhere else.

I took my car here for a state inspection and oil change. I made an appointment, and the folks at Claytons Car Care got it done in a reasonable amount of time and honored my request to use full synthetic oil. Plus, I was pleasantly surprised when they gave me a nice schematic of my car, highlighting everything they checked (fluids, tires, brake pads, etc.) and showing what was in good shape or in need of replacing. I came back a few months later for a 100,000 mile inspection and maintenance. Everything they recommended replacing or flushing was entirely reasonable considering the age and mileage of my car. Plus, they will explain to you each job that needs to be done on your car and whether or not it needs immediate attention, which is helpful for people who dont know squat about cars. So far, Im very happy with my experiences with Claytons Car Care. Its easy to make appointments, they explain everything and confirm permission before doing it, they are clear with how long the services will take (and stick to that timing), and they do great work.

Ive been a customer of Claytons for quite a few years now. They have provided consistently reliable and knowledgeable service for my cars. Recently I brought in my car which was intermittently making a metallic noise from the engine compartment. I road tested the car with a mechanic and he diagnosed the problem within a minute (a loose heat shield). Recently, they began using a car condition status form that clearly indicates any potential trouble spots and areas that check out OK. It is a great tool to help plan maintenance.

Took my car here again this week with no appointment and after 9:30 and they were very busy, I was told it could be there all day. They squeezed me in somehow and I was called at 11:30 car done!! I was shocked they did only what was necessary and I was very suprised at the low price. This is without a doubt the most HONEST car repair shop I have ever used!! Highly Highly recommend!!!!

I have taken my cars to Claytons for about 2 years now. They are great. Kevin and the Waynes are always helpful, available and honest. These guys are a cut above the rest. Ive been treated respectfully and fairly and they have kept me informed every step of the way during my car repairs. The single downside IMO is they dont accept appointments or reservations. But if you get there early in the am they will usually be able to fit you in. Class acts through and through, which is a rarity in the automotive repair industry.

Total rip offs. If I could give no stars I would. They overcharged me to replace my head gasket and it blew again. Then they said I had a cracked engine block and without checking it first. They said I would need another engine. I would not allow them to touch my car again. I had it towed and got a second opinion. I never had a cracked engine block. Wayne Clayton, possibly the owner, refused to refund my money. I had to get the NC Department of Justice, Consumer Protection Division involved to get my money back. He violated several laws and my rights, from NOT providing me with a written estimate of repairs to charging $600 more than what he actually quoted to not providing me with ALL the my old parts he replaced. This whole experience encourage to complete my criminal justice degree and go to law school..

My aging car of nearly 20 years had three major issues, and now it is running smoothly again because of your excellent care.

Same as everyone else, they did excellent service for me on my automatic transmission fluid change after I got in too deep and couldnt finish it myself (tried to do it on jacks on the ground, couldnt get an angle on the emergency brake wire to get the pan down and couldnt get to the exhaust bolts to break them loose). Very courteous, professional and fast.

Called & came to look at a truck parked out front for sale. Talked to the owner and he gave me the keys to take it for a test drive. I took the truck for a 10 minute test drive, came back in to return the keys and told him I would take it. The owner then informed me that “the truck was sold to a customer over the phone while I was on the test drive.” Very unethical in my opinion. Honesty and integrity are not words I would use to describe my experience.

At the time, we were taking our cars to the Honda dealer to be serviced. New home in northern Durham county made going to the dealer a real challenge; we learned about Claytons from a friend. They have faithfully serviced our family cars (three Hondas and a Mazda). Thanks to Claytons good care, our most seasoned 1999 Honda has 325,000 + miles on it and in second place is our 1994 Civic with 275,000+. We have been able to make do with the cars we bought and the money that otherwise would have been going to a car loan goes into our banking accounts. They describe everything they do to your car along the way in great detail and dont dumb it down. They check with you to make sure you want things done rather than just doing them and charging you.My car was a mess and they recommended things to have done but didnt overcharge me for unnecessary maintenance... and they threw in a pair of wiper blades for no charge. I also had a separate issue occur the day after having some repair done and broke down on a trip to VA. The place it was towed in VA had no clue what was wrong but when I got the car back here to Wayne and Kevin at Claytons Car Care, they figured it out in less than a day.I highly recommend these guys and will be taking my car here for everything in the future!

It came to my attention recently that Clayton had damaged my oil pan by stripping the plug when they put the plug back in at the last oil change. I called Clayton and asked them about it and they became very defensive and argumentative. First they said oil pan plugs go bad from over use. Sorry, my vehicle (with the exception of the oil pan) is in prime condition. So that theory doesnt hold. Then they said that I or someone else damaged the plug. I never touched the pan, let alone the plug. I would have no reason to. As for another auto repair stripping the plug, nope - Clayton was the last to touch it. The oil was leaking out of the pan after they got done with it and the new auto repair got their hands on it. Now, everyone makes mistakes - thats being human. Owning your mistakes - well, thats being a decent human being. Expect no ownership of mistakes at Claytons.
