This place is a total disaster! Do not recommend at all, would go to enterprise without a doubt! Staff was rude, no intention of helping us as the customer, mistake after mistake after mistake made in the rental process. And... enterprise turned out to be almost half the price for the same car.

Do NOT rent a vehicle from this location - they are scam artists and very rude, especially Randy!!I booked an AWD SUV through corporate and when I tried to claim it, I was told that it wasn’t available - even though I saw at least 3 of them sitting in the Hertz parking lot. Randy refused to rent out a four wheel drive or AWD vehicle to me because I was taking it one way and dropping it off in Denver. I spoke with two separate people at corporate and they both told me that he is not allowed to do that. Randy told me he could care less what Corporate said and that he didn’t have to follow their rules.I was forced to book a fight home because I couldn’t get a vehicle to get home in a snow storm. When I stopped by the counter to collect Randy’s card I overheard him on the phone with a different rental location bragging about how he wouldn’t give me a car even after corporate requested that he did.I travel for a living and rent cars often. I will certainly never rent from Hertz again after dealing with Randy and his lies.

Randy did a great job trying to help but he needs more personnel! I was on hold multiple times as there was only one person helping customers and we missed our 24 hour cut off time because they just could not take my call. Hertz, you need more help with customers

Showed up at 7pm to get my rental car. Was denied the rental due to expired ID although paperwork was provided showing receipts of order from DMV and aligning with Hertz Corporate policy. The counter lady refused to work with me or corporate or offer any other solutions. Offered to have police verify my license on site as well. The idea that airport security and two other rental companies were fine with the ID and Paperwork as well as Corporate Hertz is bizarre to say the least. Ive used hertz before and am a AAA member none of which were of use and have forced me to never consider hertz again. I visit durango once a month and cant believe the level of disrespect I was given by the staff.

I had a rental car from Hertz and the airport because I was in a car accident. The pick up process was super smooth and there was no confusion on charges or anything. What really impressed me was when I returned the car I had left an envelope of cash in the car. I called the following day to see if the car had been cleaned and Wayne, nicest guy ever, told me it had and was already out to another person. I figured there was NO WAY I would ever see the cash again. He said he would place a freeze on the vehicle when it returned and a week later I received a call from Wayne saying he found my cash!!!! What an awesome honest man he is. I would HIGHLY recommend Hertz.

I rented a car at this office in the end of February and returned it at the beginning of March. Although the service was efficient, it was not friendly. First they tried to give us a lesser car than what was booked....when we made them aware, the corrected it quickly. But the main problem is that the desk staff is deceptive in concealing extra charges on your bill that are not transparent. We asked if a 2nd driver would be covered for insurance purposes and they said yes....but then they added $ 67.50 to the bill without informing us. Of course when you sign the agreement, the extra charge was listed, but with coding to conceal the cost...when they reviewed all of the charges on the bill with us, they did not mention that there was an extra cost for somebody else who may need to drive the car in case of an emergency. Overall, not good customer service.

The only bad thing is that they have limited personnel, so there may be a wait. Otherwise, the staff are efficient and friendly. Triple A discount. Cars are conveniently located. We got a car with Florida plates. The difficult part was finding a gas station nearby to fill the car up before return. It might be worth it to prepay.

I had a nice car from Hertz Cortez CO. Second day into a week rental I got a problem with the plastic skid plate underneath the car. It was dragging on the road so I called Hertz. They didnt have a replacement car but gave me the address of their repair place. I had to go back in town but it was a fast fix. Overall a good experience.

My flight was severely delayed, and was very concerned that the airport desk would close before we landed. I was impressed that the agent stayed late until my flight arrived. It was a relief to arrive and see that I would still have my car.

When I went to pick-up my auto, the attendant asked if we wanted to add my wife as a second driver, I said sure, why not. When I returned the vehicle, they added a second driver surcharge. It was like I rented another half of a car. when I asked to talk to a manager, I was told that he would call me back, and they never have. I will never use Hertz again.

The LaPlata Airport Hertz service counter in Durango has always been a pleasure to work with. They have my vehicle assigned and all the paperwork prepared before I arrive and its a short and efficient process, generally less than 2 minutes or less to get the keys and get on my way to my destination. Returning the vehicle is equally as efficient. I usually hand them my portfolio documents and key and ask them to send the receipt, so that stop is less than 30 seconds. Great service and friendly staff!

The service and vehicle selection at the Durango location is always above our expectations. Specifically The employee Wayne, he is always thoughtful, thorough, and get us in/out quickly. Hertz has just earned my disrespect. My son traveled from Virginia to Colorado. I worked with Hertz yesterday over several phone calls and they said it would be no problem. He has a low credit score. He is a student at college with no job right now. So he flys all the way to Durango Colorado and they DENY HIM ON HIS CREDIT REPORT after Randy, the guy I spoke with assured me it would be no problem. Now he is stuck in Colorado with no car and no way to get around. Hertz YOU LIED and have put my son and his girlfriend in a very bad sitution.....I will never, ever rent from you again....if you had not assured me on the phone that it would be OK, that would be another thing. You should be ashamed!!!!!!!! He has $4000 in the bank for goodness sake and a PERFECT driving record!!!! Hes 28!!

Only problem was that there was no place to fill up after leaving Durango. We were there only a short time and traveled a different way on leaving the airport. I specifically asked if there was a place to fill up on our return and the desk agent assured me that there was no problem, 24 hours service on the way back to the airport. I should have filled up in Durango because we never saw any place and the 7/8ths tank of gas on return cost us $50.

My car was crashed by a reckless driver, so I had to rent a car for one week. due to go to a government meeting in Denver (From Durango). AAA arranged for me to get a Hertz rental car. It worked very well but was not good in the mountains, when I had to cross the Rockeys. It was a Nisan Versa. I like Hertz, which I have used for many years earlier when I traveled the world. This time I had to use my friends credit card as security as my card was $ 50 below the rate. the next day I would have much more on my card which I told the staff. Because I had to use her card as security, the rate went up $120, which is way more than I had expected. The rental for the Nissan Versa was low, but all the insurances for it were over triple the rate, which almost brought me in despair.The staff said that this is a business and it was as it was. On my return with the car the staff was very friendly and helpful. I also learned that Hertz has cars for sale, which might come to my benefit as I need a new car when I get the reimbursement for the smashed car. Thank you!

I hate Hertz! They charged me for 16 days of insurance that I didnt want and now I have a very negative bank statement! I have tried to speak with ANYONE that could help and I was stonewalled and hung up on! BEWARE!!!

Very rude girl at the counter. Stinky car and told they have no other car to exchange for. Shop around there are other choices.
