I called and Spoke to Jerry in Dothan and told him about my trip. He made suggestions and quoted me the price, which came in way better than any other option I had. All the staff members were professional, knowledgeable, and great to deal with. This was the EASIEST rental experience I have ever had. I will never use another service in the future.Thank you team.
Everything happened beautifully, from the making of the reservation to the returning of the car. The representatives at the counter were very professional. They were also kind, wam, and helpful.
I reserved a rental car for 7 pm, I called the day before to confirm this reservation and asked if they were strict on what time you showed up. The lady on the phone informed me that it didn’t matter what time I showed up on that reservation date but that I would have return it at the same time on the scheduled drop-off date....understandable. I show up the next day (after driving an hour with my one year old and being 6 months pregnant) and they were closed before 7:15 pm. Why is the closing time listed at 9:45pm on a Friday if there won’t be anybody there? Why was I not called and asked about my rental? Why confirm my reservation at 7 just to be told by the guy working at the Hertz counter right next to it that the worker left at 7? Just wondering company policy and why my reservation wasn’t a priority.
Theyre cool with taking your $250 reservation online and then you come to pick up your car and say I need a 700 credit score welcome to Dothan thanks guys!
Everything was great until I needed to extend my rental. I tried doing the automated service and it wouldn’t work. I called the the airport and Jennifer told me if I just returned it the next day it would just be a $40 late fee. So I did that. When I got there she then informed me it would be a $40 late fee on top of the $111 extra day fee plus other misc fees and taxes. She also told me if I paid that charges the manager would contact me after The Weeknd and he could waive some of the bogus fees. That never happened. A rental that was originally $150 turned into $850 and I’m not happy. This was my first and last time renting with Avis.

Jerry (the manager) is a liar. He lied directly to my face and said I had to purchase the LDW at $27.99 per day. He refused to adjust the total even after I showed him on the receipt that it is optional. I’m having to dispute through customer service and wait 5-7 business days for my refund. This is 2/2 times I have had an issue with this branch. Sadly, Avis has lost my future business

I will never ever, ever, ever, ever rent another car from Avis. You are the most expensive rental car company out there. You charge a fee for everything. Nickel and dime people to death. Cleaning fees adjustments, and to charge a person a whole day for being 2 hours late is ridiculous. I know that late cars affect your availability but to have no flexibility to waive or discount the charge is horrible business. There was a reason Avis was the only rental car company in town with cars available to rent and I found out why. Thats on me for not researching the company. The 1.4 star review on Trust Pilot is well-earned.
Being thus was my first time renting from Avis, I was extremely satisfied with everything! From customer service to the excellent condition of the car! Thank you for the super fast process as well! Will continue to use in the near future!
Update: Since my original review the owner/manager contacted me and the clerical error has been fixed. They were prompt and courteous about fixing the error and explaining the mistake.

Everything started off great, they had a wonderful SUV available and I was happy to pay the more expensive price just to be on my way after Enterprise in Dothan stood me up for my reservation.We had a good trip, no hitches. The problems came when it was time to pay. I owed $400 something but saw charges on my credit card for over $800. I called corporate and they told me some $200 in fees were just pre-approvals and would not actually be charged. The other extra fees were $195.81. The local person had no idea what they were for and told me to call back two days later to speak to the manager. I wasnt going to wait, I called corporate.They charged us an extra hour saying we were late bringing the car back, and then $95 was because they supposedly had to clean out excessive dog hair. I told them that we were not late, and yes we have small dogs as pets, but they didnt go in the car at all, so theres no way there was excessive dog hair and we returned it clean. There were no spills, trash, crumbs, or finger prints. Corporate spoke to the local branch and agreed that we did nothing wrong and removed the charges.THE NEXT DAY I see a new charge for $195.81 (the exact same amount to the penny). I emailed the person at corporate Id been speaking with and they told me that the local branch said it was now a charge for fuel, that I didnt put gas in the car. Well I did... all throughout the trip and then right before I turned it in, I topped it off at the Murphy USA at Walmart by the airport. I provided a picture of my receipt and havent heard back yet. The charges still stand on my credit card. How did you fit almost $200 in gas in the car? What is the next fraudulent charge you will come up with? I wonder how much money youve stolen from people who just didnt question you? It really is a shame that you chose to play with my credit card, this review would have been so different.

DO NOT rent from here. They will charge outlandish fees for cleaning that they cannot prove. When you argue and state that you will dispute the charge, the manager himself says youll be put on the do not rent list, as if we would rent from them again after being charged more than what we agreed to.
Great experience with Avis Rental. The overall ease of knowing I had a vehicle waiting for me when I arrived to my destination was awesome. No issues or problems with pick-up or drop-off.

Sherry and Tina (and the person who cleans and checks the rentals after they have been returned) went out of their way to help recover what my better half left in the rental. They never lost patience with us, they were very understanding. If We are ever back to Dothan, We will definitely use Avis again. Thank you Avis for employing such stellar and outstanding employees! They are truly an asset. Thank you for going the extra mile!!!
Amazing customer service! Our flight wasnt scheduled to arrive at Dothan airport until 7:55 PM... and this Avis location closes at 8:00 PM. The Avis representative reassured me the day before she had our flight information and would wait for us past their 8:00 PM closing time if our flight was delayed. When we arrived just after 8:00 she greeted us by name and had us out the door in minutes. AWESOME above and beyond customer service. True Southern hospitality at its best!
Sherry was friendly, helpful and efficient. She had tried to resolve a possible issue prior to our arrival, but I could not get back with her in time. Sherry was able to quickly resolve it when we arrived. Our rental was clean and within an easy walking distance to pick up.

If it were possible to give less than one star I would.Checking in was smooth and friendly, clearly a different person than the person that was at checkout. When returning the Avis rental we were 4 minutes past the 24hr period for the one day rental charge and therefore charged an additional day. After unsuccessful attempts to reason with the agent(Sherry) who was unwilling to apply logic and unwilling to compromise on charging us for the additional day. I was then told that not only was I being charged for two full days, but I couldnt keep the car any longer because she had closed the contract (as she made the final key strokes to close it).In an attempt to avoid the additional day charges we had previously decided to skip lunch in an effort to get the car returned, but now with over 4 hrs to kill before our flight and nothing open at the Dothan airport I decided (since we had now paid for two days)we should keep the car for a few more hours to go into town to get lunch. This is where things get really irrational, not only we were informed that we couldn’t use the car, but that I had to give her the keys or she would report the car stolen. Our flight that was 4 hrs in the future was the next flight out of the entire airport, there was not only nobody in line at Avis, but nobody else in sight in the airport. There was clearly no demand for this vehicle for the time I am talking about.I called Avis 800 customer service by phone and was told that this should not be a issue and that “yes, of course you can keep the car, you paid for it”. According to Sherry, she doesn’t have to answer to Avis because her “Daddy” owns the franchise and demanded the keys. She really said that.So I’m saying that this is beyond poor customer service and bad business...Avis should be ashamed to have their name on her shirt.

I returned a car today. When I walked up, the lady was staring at her phone and then had the nerve to be snotty. Whoever I spoke to on the phone the day before was really pleasant though. They sounded different so I’m guessing they were different people.
Will not send a pdf file receipt which is a inconvenience if you are on official government travel. I was provided a photo of the printout of the receipt however. The e file emailed takes you to the avis website which further wastes your time. Enterprise provides a pdf copy so I recommend using enterprise for official travel.
My car broke down in Dothan and the lady was so nice and helped me get to my destination and am able to spend thanksgiving with my mom. Thank youRent a car from Avis at Dothan airport and you will be very pleased
