I called about a septic system inspection. I spoke with Jason. I explained my situation. He was honest about what I needed to do. He explained everything. Jason was upfront and honest and did not recommend anything that wasnt needed! I will definitely use him/Bobs Septic again.

I’ve known this company my whole life ever since I’ve lived it Iowa, and let me tell you its one of the best service there is. Its Always Clean, Smells Good and when you need there service they come right away and they come prepared.

If you’re not into reading a long review, here’s my recommendation- do not give this company a shot. You will regret it.With that said, here is our experience with Bob’s. On Tuesday, our septic alarm went off. We called our usual company and they were not able to get us in right away. So I did some research and found Bob’s. They have great reviews (no idea who they are paying for those…) So I called. I was informed they could get me in on Wednesday and there would be a $250 dispatch fee since they were “rushing” and working us into their schedule. We thought that seemed a bit extreme but, our septic was clearly high and we were running out of options. So we agreed.On Wednesday afternoon around 3:30, a guy in a minivan pulls into our driveway. This wasn’t what I was expecting. How is a guy in a minivan going to potentially pump our septic tank and fix our issue? Within 3 minutes, he had diagnosed my problem telling me I needed a new pump. Honestly, I knew this was probably the case before he got here. Then he called his supervisor and I heard him say “well it looks like it’s their pump, the tank doesn’t look too terribly full.” They talked for a few minutes, he hung up and said they recommend I empty the tank so that we’re good until they can get someone out there to install a new pump. I asked how much that costs (to empty tank) and he thought about it for a little bit and said he thinks around $1200…. Oh and there may be an emergency fee for them to do it quickly. (So for the record… they charged me a $250 emergency fee to diagnose the problem and now wanted to charge me another emergency fee to empty the tank I had just heard him tell his boss wasn’t too high.) I then asked how much a new pump costs and he told me he thought around $5-6k installed. This guy then charges me the $267 emergency fee and I more or less have to keep asking what the next steps are. He tells me to call the office.So he leaves. He was here a total of maybe 15 minutes. I call the office and she tells me it costs $695-$795 to empty the tank, plus .27 cents per gallon. So he was probably pretty close with this $1200 estimate. She was unable to give me an estimate on the new pump but said they’d be in contact in the morning when that tech was able to get with the senior techs and figure out costs and when they could get me on the schedule.By now I could already tell we would not be pursuing further work with this company as we had our septic pumped before and it cost us $400. We ended up calling our original company back and they were able to work us in after all. We verified costs- $400-$600 to pump and $800-$1200 for a new pump. There is no emergency fee. And they will have a pump on their truck when they come out to fix it.Our other company just came out and put a new pump on. We went with the slightly better pump so it cost us $1200. He recommended we empty tank within the next month or so and said it would cost $500-$600.Anyone who has a septic knows that when there’s an issue, it’s generally a time/emergency issue. The fact that Bob’s takes advantage of this by charging you $250 for them to drive out and tell you to pump your tank so that they can take their time actually fixing your issue is mind blowing. That’s not even mentioning that they are SEVERELY over priced.I’ll admit, I don’t think the tech had any idea how much a new pump costs so I don’t know if they are actually charging $5-6k for a new pump. However, I can tell you the other company we called knew that it was Bob’s after we told them our experience, (ie, she said “let me guess.. Bob’s?”) She told us you can have a brand new whole tank installed for $5k. My advice… find any other company when you have a septic issue. Learn from our $267 mistake.

Had the guys come out yesterday to pump the septic tank to find out why it wasnt pumping to our laterals. Then had Maddi come out today to install a new pump and alarm system, she did a great job !! The owner came out at the end to check everything out and was very knowledgeable about the questions I asked. I will call again if I need any more work done. Thank you

Absolutely amazing group of people. Had some septic issues in our new house a week after moving in. They were so helpful with explaining what needed to be done, what ways would be more cost effective and what would be beneficial to help long term. They jumped right in and didnt waste any time getting the job done..... thank you for saving the day....

Great company! When we were closing on our house we found out it needed a new septic before we could close. Bobs got the work done quickly. Also very informative and helpful with questions or concerns.

We were in a tough position getting ready to close on the sale of our house only to find the entire septic system needed to be replaced and it needed to happen fast in order to maintain the closing date. The entire team at Bobs Septic Tank bent over backwards to make things happen, they did so with professionalism, compassion and the expertise to get the job done efficiently and maintain a high quality of work. Septic backed up over the holidays. Called Bobs and they came same day. Good communication before arrival, knowledgeable and personable technicians.They did a great job all the way around.

I called Bobs Septic to pump out my septic tank and do an inspection. They were able to schedule this very promptly. They showed up on time and worked in the 90+ heat index. They charged exactly the amount I was quoted. And, even though I didnt take advantage of it, they provided a great financing option. I will be calling Bobs Septic again for any future service needs.

The lady that answered the phone was VERY helpful and clearly explained the charges.. the technician was very informative and professional. . I called Bobs Septic Tank Service when my drain backed up. The gal that answered the phone was upbeat, positive and very helpful. She answered all my questions and explained prices. She had a crew at my house in a few hours! The guys were professional, very knowledgeable and quickly went to work pumping out the tank. But I still had a blockage some where as the drain backed up again. I called back and the crew came back the same day to try and fix the problem. They wanted to make sure I was back up and running the same day. They were careful to not track into the house and cleaned up after their work. Yes I give them 5 stars.

These guys are the best. We put an addition on our home which included adding a new septic system.I met with the Owner personally who took the time to educate me on the system needed and the process of installation.The guys were in and out in 1 day and very professional throughout the whole process.I would definitely recommend this company as well as using them again in the future .

Called to get a time of transfer done and get my septic tank cleaned and inspected. Right from the start the receptionist was very knowledgable, accommodating and up up front with the pricing. When the service tech showed up it was not what I was expecting he was very clean, and articulated the process in way I could understand he then went over the cost again upfront before he started. When the tech left my house he left it cleaner than when he arrived overall I one of the best experiences from anyone I have ever had come to my home to do any work. Thank you for all you do and bring some faith back to humanity!!

We had a time crunch at the end of our home sale closing finding out only very late that our septic needed full replacement. Jason and the team all made it happen and stayed very positive about a tough situation. They came out with the county every day to pump the tank (and did so free of charge) as the county said without this no one could occupy the home. Katie in the office was a joy to speak with and was very patient with explanations.

Bobs Septic workers are good at what they do and they are respectful to there customers. I will use this company for all my septic needs.

Do you want to save $750.00? Go with a different company to get your septic system cleaned out. I called this company thinking their rates would be competitive and later learned I was very wrong. To have 1,500 gallons cleaned out cost me $1,010.70! I called other companies nearby and rates ranged from $240 to $375 for the same size system, including disposal! I learned a valuable lesson that it pays to shop around. I called the company to seek understanding on their price, hoping for perhaps reimbursement for being overcharged and also for the damage to my lawn after the truck was buried into my yard! I even tried to help by pulling with my 3/4 ton truck. In the process, my log chain got broken! You would think the owner or manager would have called back to negotiate settlement. Most importantly I am shocked at this event of overcharging and would think any honest business owner would let you know that there are more reasonable options for the services you request. I am also shocked that staff were not knowledgeable enough to recognize that the size and weight of the equipment used was not appropriate for driving onto the conditions of my yard. I am still waiting for my message to the owner/manager (March 9), be returned.

Not happy with the price or quality of the service done. $1450 for pumping and adding an obscenely huge riser to my tank in an awful spot in my yard. There werent a lot of options, but it could have been done in a way that would have still let me have access to my yard.

Rented a toilet for a party. I was so surprised how well kept it was! Ive also used their services at the Iowa State Fair and they are so professional and astonishingly clean! Would highly recommend.

TERRIBLE COMPANY. I didnt even use their service and they used my yard and driveway to get to a kybo..destroyed my yard and caved in concrete with their truck. Then said they had permission from a neighbor to use my property. Now they are refusing to pay for damages.

The pump in my septic tank stuck on, causing it to burn itself and the wiring up. I called Bobs Septic and they were quick to diagnose what needed done and they worked on it until the project was completed. Couldnt be happier with the work. If I ever need work done again I will be calling Bobs. Thanks Guys

I had a horrible finding one day walking up to the most god awful smell (no need for a alarm) and once I went through my house and checked why I say that my tank was all back up and it was A BIG NIGHTMARE and I have heard about Bobs septic through hear say and through a lot of family and friends...So I decided to give them a call. I felt sorry for the ladies in the office...I had a hard time talking to them cause of the smell and couldnt get much out but they new this had to be fixed right away and sent a crew right out and in no time I was back in working order. It amazing how they know your needs and wants in the just a few words spoken and I vow to never use anyone else but them. I back them up 100% Dont let me forget about the crew who came out. They are the most friendly and best manner group. They dont stop till your every need is met. You all are awesome!!!!

Their workers need to put more than a half gallon of water back in when cleaning. Worthless servicing has them smelling unbearable the next day on construction sites.

Portable toilets in campgrounds are unusable need at lest 2at every location and cleaned at least daily

Be sure to shop around as my experience showed they said my tank needed replaced for over $9,500 and upon a second opinion by another company turns out my tank is in good condition. Was almost out just shy of $10k :(
