Went for bridesmaid makeup. Nick blew me away when my hair from the previous salon fell out and he re-did my updo. Totally unexpected, above and beyond-made me feel SO much better! I had never had my makeup done so any newbies out there I would suggest being prepared to let the artist know exactly what you are thinking even if you arent completely sure- definitely talk it out. I didnt like my makeup but was able to work that piece out. My daughter is 3 went for her nails later in the day and she was thrilled with how they turned out. Great experience!

If I could say 4.5, that’s what I’d choose. I loved Frankie! I loved the treatment she gave to my hair - a hair mask, hair cut, nice leave-in conditioner with a blow dry. The massage, complimentary wine, and peppermint oil send-off were a great plus. I knock off half a star because of how loud the salon is. It was super busy, which is a great sign for business, but the music was also very loud. Everything Frankie did was amazing, and I can’t wait to come back!

Elle is a real professional. She is an excellent stylist; it is obvious she knows what she is doing. Im new to DSM and Salon Spa W--Elle made me feel welcome and secure. She took the time to look at my hair, to understand its texture, and she she talked to me about what I was looking for in a haircut. Im so happy to have found my hairstylist here in Des Moines. Now, I just need to find a dentist!

I go here to get my nails done periodically when I feel like treating myself. This time, I had a new artist, Lucy, and she is a gem! She listened to the ideas I had, and helped me make them a reality. Her nail art turned out spectacularly. I’m going to request her when I book again!

Update: I showed my stylist Mollie an inspiration photo & she made a suggestion of something that was more “on trend”, while still giving me the length I wanted. It’s been a few weeks and I have been getting complements on my hair EVERYWHERE. I am beyond happy with the cut and my amazing stylist!Amazing service. Left feeling beautiful and refreshed! Also loved the skin care product recommendations. 10/10

She’s managed to lift my poorly box dyed dark red hair back to its bright, dimensional blonde in just three months and my hair is super healthy. I love my hair more than I ever have! Shout out to Lucy, who makes the experience of waxing an enjoyable one. She is gentle, takes her time, and above all educates well on aftercare processes. Id never be waxed by anyone else, shes definitely made a loyal customer out of me. And to top it off, shes hilarious which makes the experience lighthearted and fun.

If anyone needs a colorist, hands down I recommend Finley!! She is amazing! She explained the color process for me from start to finish, from what she was doing to how the color would take to my hair. I felt like I was right at home with the friendly service and the inviting atmosphere. All staff members were kind and friendly from check-in to check-out. At the end she gave me recommendations on hair care products to get the most out of my new hair color. I found my hair home with Salon Spa W and colorist Finley!

Mollie is always a treat! I look forward to seeing her more than getting my hair done lol. She always knows what I will like and never steers me wrong which has made me trust her 100%.

My haircut with Jamie was excellent! I then had makeup application, however, my artist was over booked and had to leave halfway through. The artist that took over did a good job finishing my makeup, however, she dropped the eyelashes on the floor twice and still put them on my eyes. Overall, I would definitely continue to have my hair cut here but I will most likely look elsewhere for makeup application.

I came in for a blow out with Avalon. I had this done for a photoshoot and it was just a great experience from walking in to paying. I felt nervous walking in because the place feels fancy and Im not inherently fancy! But when I was checked in, Avalon greeted me and treated me like I belonged there and she was very friendly and kind. I relaxed easily! ☺️ I was also able to ask questions about other services, such as color, which Im interested in getting done soon. Avalon was really knowledgeable and explained what different options are available. Overall, the staff is super inviting and friendly, the smiles feel genuine and the prices are wonderful. Love coming to SW!!! They are pricey, but worth it because they treat you like royalty and make the experience so relaxing and enjoyable! Only downside at times is parking. Street parking can be a disaster depending on the time of day so make sure you get there early to give yourself ample time to find a spot.

I went here about two months ago, and never again will I go. Overly priced, I got a Level 3 stylist and I showed a picture of what I wanted and when she was done it wasnt even close to what I showed. I was honestly so upset when I got home that I wasted money on a poor balayage. I felt like my hair stylist was rushing through the coloring process and just trying to get it over with.Went to a different Salon called Elements off of 86th St in Urbandale 100% recommend. Less expensive, better quality, and you dont have to pay for parking. ✌
