Horrific place to send your child. My son came in dealing with a bad bout of depression and came out worse with trauma. The workers there didnt seem to care and the facilities are disgusting and worn out, essentially unlivable conditions. The therapists lack compassion and will push medicines constantly without telling you the side effects and dangers of taking them. Thankfully my son is doing better than ever, I suggest you reconsider bringing your child here as you may regret it later.

My daughter went here after months of struggling emotionally. She was there 5 months and was sent home worse than the day I took her. They got absolutely nowhere with her. Told us they were there for us even after discharge... they wont answer any emails, and didnt even bother to send her home doctors or therapist any of her records. So very disappointed! Left us with more questions than answers and nowhere else to turn for help!

I am a small business in Des Moines. My business, luckily, has been steadily growing and I decided to try and give back. As a child I myself was in 2 foster homes and many group homes so I am passionate about supporting childrens charities. I met 2 people Wendy and Andrea and they were excited with me to start my fundraising. After spending my time and my own money to get started they blew me off. When I contacted them and they finally got back to me, they didnt even have the decency to call but rather, out of the blue, texted me that they werent interested(no reason given) This complete lack of professionalism just hurts the children they were hired to help...makes me sad. Un dissuaded though, I am still moving forward in my companies efforts to fund raise...just not with a terrible charity like Orchard Place. If this level of behavior at the top is the standard I am led to wonder how it trickles down. Sad.

This place is awful. I was sent here when I was 14, and the staff were entitled college students that would laugh in front of us about the kids who were screaming and crying on the unit after sending them to their rooms, and banned me from talking to the only person I got along with because I wouldnt pay attention to a kid who had behavior issues and kicked at the paper thin walls of his room right next to mine for several minutes at a time, multiple times a day. The therapists arent helpful either, as the one I had would constantly tell me that the trust issues I was dealing with were my fault and instead of helping, they just made things worse until I lied to meet their unrealistic criteria to be able to leave. My heart goes out to the poor kids that end up there, as theyre stuck for a period of at least 7 months.

At the time of me being there and the thought of me being there i hated it but looking back on how much they cared and how much they guide you to help i realized the place was amazing and it really can help but before others can help you you gotta help yourself I wanna thank all the staff for helping me
