Wonderful honest and good work. Tom kept me updated and charged nothing but a fair rate. He quoted me an estimated price for the repairs which I authorized. The final bill was far less and was not cushoned like some places I have experienced. Take your vehicle to Sargents Garage at 510 College Ave if you want good work and a fair price.

They were awesome! Tom is the person I talked to and he was very friendly and helpful. They got my car in right away, told me the issue, and fixed it that same day. If I run into any other problems with my car, they will be the first ones I call!

My friend spent 1500$ for a fix. They didnt fix the issue they made it worse. When we took it to a more reputable shop the took pictures of what they had done wrong before they fixed the issues and explained how they actually made things worse in the process. They will gladly take a job they dont know how to fix and than spend excessive time with internet research to find out how. They gave the vehicle back and put the check engine light on and told us its not an issue. When we asked them to pur speciL.treatment fluids in designed specifically for the vehicles engine the told us it wasnt needed and they didnt want to.Not a good experiance my friend is too kind to call these guys out so I will.

Simply stated, if you live in the Des Moines metro area and you are looking for an honest, highly skilled, dedicated, and efficient group of auto mechanics, run-dont walk-to Sargents Garage. They dont have plush leather couches or cold drinks in a mini-fridge or a Keurig coffee machine with a large selection of coffees and teas, but they also dont have the combo of high prices, questionable practices, and low quality that a lot of showy dealership-type shops have (I realize that there are exceptions to this general rule, but in my humble experience at least, the exceptions are few and far between). I have interacted mostly with Graham and Bryan over the years, and I can tell you without hesitation that these are good, down-to-earth people and extremely knowledgeable auto mechanics. Tell them the symptoms your car is experiencing (not the mechanical or electrical problem you suspect-they are the experts after all), be concise and to-the-point, and they will take good care of your car at rates that are reasonable and fair. FYI they are very busy, so call ahead if possible (i.e. for preventative maintenance such as an oil change) and be willing to be patient if the repair is a big, complex one.

I went to get an estimate for repairs and the guy asked me what was wrong. I stated I thought it was some sort of seal, he was annoyed and asked again what was wrong. I explained ai had an oil change and thats what the guy said, it was a leaking seal. I told him Im not a mechanic thats why Im there. Im a single woman that knows nothing about cars thats why I pay for a mechanic. He was so rude I drove away and took my business elsewhere.

Honest and straightforward mechanics. This is the only place I take all my vehicles now. Not only are they reasonably priced, they won’t try to rip you off and lie to you and they’re fun to talk to.

These guys are accommodating and easy to work with. I bring the company work van there for all fixes and oil changes. I know my boss is a tight wad so they must be reasonably priced of he’d find somewhere else. Lol. They talk to you like you’re a real person and they don’t gouge you.

Super honest and helpful staff. They suggested I call the dealer to get my engine replaced, and Kia is replacing my engine for no cost. I would have never thought to call the dealer since I have over 100,000 miles on my car. They even gave me quotes just in case Kia couldnt fix it. I will never take my car anywhere else besides Sargents Garage. They have a customer for life!! I cannot express how grateful I am for them.

The best auto shop in the des moines area

I have taken two of my VW Beetles to Sargents Garage over the last 6 years. They have never failed to disappoint me on quickly getting them repaired and at a very reasonable price. One of the local tire stores was trying to charge me $1,000 for a repair that Sargents diagnosed as something totally different and fixed for $300. I trust their expertise!

I had an amazing experience with this garage. I set up an appointment earlier in the day for an oil change and got super busy at work so I called in and said that I needed to do a later time. They said even though they were swamped, that was okay so I made it for an hour later. I still got off of work super late and came in 15 minutes late and they still took my appointment. Since I didnt have a ride I had to sit there and I thought I would have to stay there for a while. The great thing was I actually sat there legitimately for about 12 minutes. It was so fast, they were super nice and I would highly recommend them for work!

I have been taking my car to Sargents since I moved to Des Moines in 2010 because it was recommended to me by a satisfied woman customer. And now I am another satisfied customer who appreciates their honesty and good work. I trust them and I cant say that about any other garage Ive gone to.

Sargents garage is very resonably priced. I get my car back in a timely manner. They are also very courteous and helpful. I also like the coupon for an oil change that comes in the monthly value pack.

I wish I could give them a 0 star review. How in the hell is it $69 for parts, and almost $700 for labor?? And on top of that, its been 3 weeks and my husbands car is still NOT finished. Their excuse is rust! My family is now taking the bus. Unbelievable!! I wouldnt take my bicycle here if it had a flat tire. I wouldnt piss on this building if it was on fire. What a waste of hard earned money.

Ive been taking all of our familys vehicles to Graham and Sargents Garage for almost 18 years now. Sargents was recommended to me by Tom of P&T Automotive (Phil and Tom specialized on old BMW and Mercedes) that use to be located where the sculpture park is downtown. Whether it is routine maintenance or repairs, I trust Graham to do a great, trustworthy job at a fair and reasonable price. We have had break jobs, new tires, alignments, electrical work, oil changes, engine flushes, brake lines replaced, side markers replaced, serpentine belts replaced, total tune ups with spark plugs, new fuel filters, new shocks and struts, ball joints, bearings, new fan motors, transmission maintenance and repair, he even put a new grill on Cadillac for me once. I know Im leaving some stuff out but those come to mind. If you want perfect work at a great price, Sargents is the place to go. When I need an oil change I just show up and they have always changed it right then and there, takes maybe a 15 - 20 minutes. When you walk in the lobby, the walls are decorated with thank you notes from long time customers and folks traveling through Iowa that broke down ... even some thank yous from elementary school children where Graham evidently did some community service work in educating some youngsters. Vehicles are an important part of our lives and Sargents Garage is a place you can trust and they participate in the NAPA guarantee/warranty. Really good people!
